I purchased a big deal from Angie's List and their services turned out perfect and I loved it. I paid an extra $150 other than the big deal purchase.
Description of Work: Splash Carpentry did 60 square feet of crown molding for me in the living room area and they painted it as well, it was perfectly done.

It was a great experience from start to finish. It turned out exactly how we wanted and the price was right on target for what we received. I have included a number of pictures to show the quality of his work. He is not only a skilled carpenter, but a good guy to work with. I found him easy to communicate with, prompt, and willing to do what we needed to get the job done on schedule. I would use him again without reservation.
Description of Work: Adrian and his team installed an incredible stair railing and set of newel posts for the house we were rehabbing in Lincoln Park. The newel boxes that he made are spectacular. He followed up at every step of the way and when we wanted to make a change after the install he did it without complaint or hassle. He simply got the job done and made sure his customer was happy.

Very good quality contractor/investor. He came to our shop, i presented him our products and what i thought he might be interested in, we shook hands and that was it. The whole project was perfectly organized, we did not have any issues getting in and do our job. No other trades bothered us and nobody put pressure to finish it fast. A contractor who needs "things done a.s.a.p." is a contracator who dos not know what he is doing. Not this time, the gentleman was controlling the project very efficiently. We consider ourselves lucky to meet him and we hope for a long business relation.

Adrain was great to work with and has such a positive attitude and energy about his work. He also is very generous and when we ran into a section of floor under the carpet that was not hardwood, he replaced it with brand new without charging us more because he understood we were at the top of our budget. This was really above and beyond what most contractors would do! In addition, his partner Matthew who installed the new wood did such a good job you can't tell where the new wood meets the old. Our house is very old and the wood from 1923. They came on time every day, were great to have in my house, and cleaned up every evening. We have four kids and they were understanding and very nice to the kids too which was appreciated. The project took exactly one week, the time Adrain quoted originally. At the end of the project, I really wanted to add crown molding in the master and Adrain came the last day of the project and installed it at a very low and fair and didn't seem to mind my last minute addition. Finally, he also repaired some drywall and installed my window treatments for me since he noticed they were not level. I highly recommend Splash Carpentry and will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Splash Carpentry did a great job refinishing our staircase, installing new hardwood floors in the master bedroom and installing new banisters, newel posts, and railing with gorgeous wrought iron ballusters.

Very pleasant working enviroment, very friendly and nice people. Even the youngest family member , 4 yers old, got involved at some point and helped with the hardwood delivery. I had a good time and it is an excellent feeling to know that your work is appreciated by your client.

This is why is good to have everything in writting. The member bought a coupon without asking for any inspection of the job though it's free. Below is our little chat on the message center, thank you Angie's List for this communication channel, it makes things easier: Note from [removed member name] I have french doors that I need replacing with a sliding door. The door was measured and ordered by Home Depot and is larger then the opening, so carpentry work is required. This is a picture of the walls with the doors. The doors are 3 to four inches bigger then the wall but Home Depot didn't think it was a problem. Please let me know if you think its a problem. Our response: One little detail that was not mentioned before is that we are talking about a patio door which is exterior door, not a french door. We can send someone to inspect the job site and give you a written estimate but most likely the work cannot be completed in a coupon (team of two for 4 hours). As you might notice, the member learned something from this: we finally agree that we are not talking about a "french door". Long story short: we got another "F" for refusing to work for free. It's very frustrating because we are working very hard for "A"s and it's so easy to get "F"s without even going to see the job site. Most of the members will understand the situation, the rest, like this guy, will hopefully stay away from us. A personal advise to this member: 3 inches matters in most of the situations though Home Depot tried to calm you down.

Workmanship was very good. Work was performed as contracted and done on-time. Since the special offer from Angie's List allowed for more linear feet of molding than required for the one room, the contractor applied the unused footage to the second room, even though a second room was not part of the original package. All employees of the contractor were professional and courteous. The only issue we had was the contractor promised to show us samples of the various molding options before installation, and he dropped the ball on this one aspect. We rejected the molding his crew brought to the job, but they quickly, and with apologies, arranged to get us the other samples that same day and then rescheduled us for the next day. All was well in the end, and we would use them again.

We contacted him after our last job and wanted him to work on our trim, crown-molding, and a custom made retractable table. As usual we called him and answer right away (which is always the case) and we discussed the matter of the project. We decided to meet at our house the next day to have a better understanding of the project and especially to discuss the design of the table, knowing that Adrian has a very well equipped shop for custom units. He arrived at our house promptly at the time we decided the previous day. We walked around the house and showed him the finish carpentry job that was needed, which by the way went pretty fast since it was a straight forward kind of job, and in the end we had a look at the possibilities for building the retractable table in the kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised when he started to ask me questions about the use of the table which only a professional designer or architect would do. We discuss the orientation, the amount of people sitting at the table, where would the kids sit, which side the parents would face (the kitchen, the living room), how the natural light illuminate the room and how the people sitting would be affected by it, and so on. He made quite a few and very helpful suggestions. After we decided the design and assessing the amount of material and labor needed for the job, he said that will get back to me the next day with the costs for the job. The next day I had the invoice and we decided to move forward with the job. Adrian didn?t started right that week because as he stated in our meeting that he was very busy and he?ll start the following Monday which was completely fine with me. As soon as he started I knew that he was the right person for the job, he was efficient, clean and always asking me if I am pleased with what I see. Another thing to mention is that the table was being fabricated at the wood shop in the same time and after each phase he invited me to see the table and ask me if that is exactly what I want. I appreciate the collaboration very much, and the fact that he is involving the client in his work. The work was done in the time specified in the invoice and I will definitely hire him for future projects. Thank you Adrian for a wonderful job!

When it comes to coupons, we prefer to communicate in writing. The member requested a french door installation. What he/she forgot to mention is that the "french door" is actually an exterior door with side windows. Not a problem, except the job wont fit in a coupon. This is the last email we sent to the member "Hello, i had my partner Curtis call you to schedule an appointment. He did not hear from you. The project cannot be done in a coupon, if you are interested in a quote, Curtis will inspect the job site and we will send you an estimate. It is not hard to get in touch with us, it is just very hard to make us work for free.

I had contacted several contractors on Angie's list; but Splash Carpentry was the only one to actually come out and take measurements. (Everyone else just gave me a ballpark figure over the phone.) This was the smoothest transaction we have ever had with a contractor! We were shown samples of their work, picked out the stain and newel post and scheduled a date for the installation. Not only was the work completed in a timely manner ( a day and a half for the install) - but the craftsmanship far exceeded my expectations. Adrian and his crew are all about customer service. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

I purchased a carpenter for a week and I was contacted immediately after the purchase. The carpenter came to visit the house and see the project within 2 days. Then he gave me a few options regarding when he could be here. He said he could work 5 8 hour days if that is what I needed but I told him I could be a little flexible and some days he left early. It took him about 8 days to complete the 40 hours of work. He was very easy to work with and prompt and courteous. He worked well with other workers in the house and always was careful to build dust barriers around the work area to keep the dust from spreading. He did a good job each day cleaning up and did a good job returning the work area to its original condition (i.e. put back furniture, put things back inside closets). I plan on using him again soon on more projects.

the client is leading a big and detailed remodeling project at his house. Very polite, open to suggestions, educated and extremely flexible and generous! After i completed the 40 hours he surprised me with a big tip: $200!. Not only that, but during work i felt that my efforts are appreciated and i was allowed to be creative, which basically turned the work into fun not to mention that due to the flexible hours, i was able to manage my business too without incidents. It was great working for him and i wont hesitate to go back as soon as he calls me.

I chose Splash Carpentry based on user reviews that they did great trim work and hung doors. We have a lot of custom wood work to be done in the future, and fixing up the nursery and master bedroom was an ideal way to try out this company. Adrian forwarded my email to Sorin, who represented himself as a Splash team member. Sorin came out in a timely fashion and looked at the work to be done, but it took a few follow up emails from me to get an estimate a few weeks later. It had been a month by the time he came with a contract for work for me to sign. I was surprised and confused because the contract was NOT with Splash Carpentry! I inquired and was told by both Sorin and Adrian that three business names all operate under one insurance policy but that they are one and the same. Sorin's company had no online reviews at all. I obtained the insurance policy from Adrian. Neither Splash Carpentry nor Sorin's company were listed on the policy. Being pregnant and in a hurry to get the job done, I decided to cede control and use Splash/Sorin's company anyway. My husband asked for a business card and we were told Sorin's work speaks for itself. And boy did it ever... Sorin installed everything we had discussed, but here is where the work quality suffered: 1. All three doors and all of the trim were painted by Splash with a long haired roller and cheap semigloss latex paint. This permanently texured my trim and it can't be undone without tedious sanding or complete replacement (I've consulted painters). It looks terrible, and the doors only have one coat, meaning I can see the primer contrasting with the white paint. After having painters use a brush and two coats of pearl finish paint to smooth out the texture, the trim still looks poor, but better. 2. The chair railing was installed using cracked/broken material at one location, and nothing was done to fix this. 3. The caulk used at the wall interface of the trim cracked within two weeks. More work for my painters. 4. The removal of the old crown moulding left my ceiling perimeter scarred, sliced, and whole strips of drywall paper were missing. It cost me $300 to have the ceiling patched and repainted by others. I asked before work was done whether there would be risk to the drywall and was told ,"no, we know what we're doing". Apparently not, or my question was not understood. 5. One sloped wall above a dormer closet required some special trim detailing and/or spackling below the crown moulding. Sorin stated his plan of attack with confidence. After installation, though, he had not done what he initially proposed, instead opting to partially fill a 3/4" gap with soft caulk that wasn't meant for that size. After I pointed this out, he told me that my future painters could finish it for him. So that's what happened, my painters cleaning up one of many eyesores left in my master bedroom. Can I say anything positive? Yes. Sorin installed foam sealer where he had uncovered gaps between the wall and ceiling drywall, and took photos prior to placing the new molding. Also, the trim was cut at perfect lengths and angles. It's the above items I am displeased with, and I have to live with it. I don't think I feel comfortable inviting Splash or any of its partners back to tackle the rest of the house. I admit that I did not notice the paint issues or cracked trim until after final payment, and decided not to follow up with Sorin because I had more contractors scheduled for the next business day, and the lack of care had been too great and extensive for me to want to micromanage a resolution. In response to Splash's response, please note that they were my first review ever, thus the "histogram rating of C".
Description of Work: 1. Installed 3 prehung doors (materials not included in price), painted doors. 2. Removed and replaced existing baseboard trim, door casing, chair rail, and crown moulding in master bedroom. 3. Removed and replaced existing baseboard trim and door casing in nursery.

1. me and my partners put together everything we had to be able to compete on this tough market: website, woodworking shops (we have two), clients, experience etc. If we would pay for everything separately, the cost of the business would almost triple and the only source to pay for it is the customer's pocket. Please note that the rating for price is A. Combined we are more effective and we can provide better services . Whoever is interested, please visit us at 5115 Church st in Skokie. We share the rent, we pay together the insurance on one company, we pay for one dumpster and i'm the secretary every early morning and late evenings because i'm busy building stairs doing carpentry during the day. This is how we are able to offer affordable prices to our clients. 2. the member is totally right regarding the paint job, the only thing that she does not mention clearly is that the paint job was not ours, other company was hired to do the painting. We had to apply one coat before installation which obviously is not enough. She has no complains regarding the carpentry aspect of the project, the one that we were hired for. 3. also, if you check the member's review histogram, you will see that she is basically stuck at "C" when it comes to rate someone's work.

Dylan and Chris were great! They sanded both side of our front door ( outside of door had sun damage and the inside of door was painted white.. They sanded both sided down to the wood and then stained the door. We purchased a custom stain glass window that we needed installed into the door. Dylan and Chris did it all! They did it all in one day! We now have a "new" door for a fraction of the cost of a new wood door, Super happy and will use them again!!!!!

The owner was very prompt at replying to my request and scheduling a time to give us a quote. When we met him we were very impressed with his ideas and level of skill. He accommodated or gave suggestions about all of our wishes so the staircase would be truly custom made for us. Once we signed the contract he got right to work making all of the pieces that would be put into place. It was a big job. However, this is where we began to have some minor issues. I asked that the work all be completed by the end of June. Initially I was told that could be done, but as the time approached, he kept putting me off saying that he was still building the custom posts or still painting them. S the start of work on site was later than I had wanted. It wasn't that big a deal for us, so I was still feeling positive. Then work began at our house. I was surprised to find that he would be working two jobs at once with his employees. He came in and started off his guys, but then he left! He was the one I had signed up with and I expected that he would be the one doing my job. His employees were fine, but this continued for the rest of the week. We were told the job would take a week, but because he was trying to get two jobs done at once, we ended up having our staircase torn up for a half a week longer than expected. He would stop by at the end of each day to see how things were going and to check in with me, but I felt that we were playing second fiddle to the other job. Finally on the 15th he did stay and finish the job. It took him until 7at night, but he told us it would be done that day and it was. He knew there was touch up still left, so he arranged for another person to help finish that up the following weekend. As part of our contract, Adrian wanted to do a wood-carved picture to help grow that part of his business. We did not necessarily want it, but he said he wanted to include it, so we agreed. "7. MANUFACTURE AND DELIVER A CUSTOM CARVING SIMILAR TO THE SAMPLES SEEN ON THE CONTRACTOR'S WEBSITE (THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE OF PROVIDING THE PICTURE)" ;to date (now December 14th) we have yet to see the carving. As it is a part of the contract, I feel that it should have been done as promised. Instead, I get excuses, and when I, for the first time in our dealings, complained, I was responded to rather rudely in a way that did not seem professional to me. Here are the emails regarding this unfinished work: 7/29/13. i'm still working on the carving. I m planning to send the package in two weeks from now. I will do my best with the eyes and the overall finishes and i hope you are going to like it. 9/12/13 i just want you to know that i m still working on the carvings. So far, we are not satisfied with the results. I think we going to end up working with shades of stain on the whole face and not focusing only on the eyes. I will keep you posted and i apologize for the delay. And me finally asking, in November, when we might get it: Adrian- We have been wondering what is going on with the carvings you made a part of our contract for the railings you redid for us in July. I know you were having some problems getting it just right, but it is now November and I am starting to feel like we did not get the full value for our money. If you are unable to complete the carvings, and are then unable to complete the contracted work we paid for, I would think we would be due some kind of refund. We would appreciate knowing what is happening from your end before we attempt to pursue getting some kind of refund. And his response: It is unfortunate that i could not complete that task. My machine broke and it takes thosands to get it back to 100% accuracy. However, if you go back to our email exchange you will find the part where i offered the carvings as gift out of courtesy and i clearly mentioned that the value cannot be converted in a discount or a refund. The price for your stairs would have been the same with or without this. I tried to be nice and it did not work well so far. I already spent over $500 to get the dog carving right and i will continue to try until i succeed, though, i must say, with much less enthusiasm after the email you sent me. I will keep you informed with this matter. It seems Adrian does not like it when people question him - I noticed that in some of the other non A reviews as well. I do like the end product of the stair case, though as time has gone on, some of the trim pieces have come loose and had to be reattached, so overall I am pleased that we got the work done. However, I was not as happy with the service as I expected to be given the ratings this company and owner had here on Angie's List. It is perhaps because he was spreading himself too thin. I don't think I would recommend him because of the issues we had with timeliness and part of the contracted work hanging in limbo for months.
Description of Work: They made new custom posts, rails and spindles for my staircase. The existing railings, etc. were removed; the base was sanded and restained; then the new rails, etc. were installed. They also made new edging to match our existing baseboards.

We apologize for estimating the on site work wrongly: it took 10 days instead of 7. Regarding my presence at the job site: i installed the posts, most of the railings and the balusters myself. I left the easier tasks to one of my crews to handle. It is fortunate for us that we have more than one job scheduled at the time, otherwise i don't know how would i be able to keep 6 people busy. I also own a wood working shop, where we are manufacturing most of the stair parts and a cnc machine that requires a trained person to work on, that would be me. If a client wants me to personally handle his project from a to z, i will have to pass. Someone needs to run the business i built and i think that person should be me. Most of the contractors are focusing to preserve the profit, i decided to spend 3 extra days because this member's house is perfect in every detail: high quality finishing, decoration and style. My work had to fit in, and it did.

I bought the coupon and it stated I would be contacted by 9/6 to make an appointment. I sent them a message with some tentative dates so that when they did contact me, they would have some options to consider. They never contacted me and it is a week later.

We asked them to design a gate for the top of a set of stairs. We initially had a quick estimate from two guys who came to measure, and we had them redo the design. It took a while for them to get back to us to set the time up for the installation. The install was done by one of the workers, who was quite rude to my wife, barely spoke English, and took much longer to install than originally stated. The gate is fully functional and they did a great job matching the design to the staircase that was there. However, there are several marks on the gate on the wood, filled in with some "filler" but it is very obvious. Luckily we are not that picky or else we would have asked them to redo the gate. The worker was very hard to deal with and I would not want him to come back into our home. In fact, we were going to ask them to do another major project but we are going to use another carpenter because I do not want to deal with this particular worker again. I read very excellent reviews and thus was quite surprised at the quality and the professionalism which lacked for this job.

here is the last email i sent to this member, no response: "Hello, i m very sorry about it. I can assure you George is not rude at all, in fact is a very polite and kind person. There is nothing we can do regarding his English but again, he would not be rude to anyone regardless the situation. I would like to introduce myself in person and fix this misunderstanding. Please let me know what is your availability and i will come over. First i would like to inspect the work that was done, then i will take the necessary steps to bring the quality where it's suppose to be. " i have a few questions on my own though: 1. how can someone who does not speak the language well to be rude? It takes some knowledge, right? 2. what husband allows that? The carpenter went to the house 4 times! 3. why nobody ever called the office to complain about anything? 4. if the service provider is answering to the emails within hours, it means bad responsiveness? 5. though everything is functional and looks good,it is still poor quality? 6. waiting at the front door for the customer to wake up means lack of punctuality? 7. if there are a few touch ups to be made, shouldn't be easier to point them out and ask us to fix the situation? That "rude" carpenter brought many "page of happiness" reviews for us. He is 60 years old, a grand father, non smoker, extremely clean and very skilled.

I was looking to remodel our existing staircase and started by looking for new newel posts on Ebay. I was very impressed with the newel posts that Adrian was making out of his shop. I contacted him to see if he would be interested in doing the whole job and he agreed to meet. From the very beginning I had great communication with Adrian. When he came out to quote the job he brought samples of his newel posts, rails and balusters. His price was comparable to others, we decided to go with him because we could tell he loved what he did and showed pride in his work. Adrian was very conscientious throughout the whole job knowing that we had three little ones at home. When he sanded our existing treads and risers he kept the dust down to a minimum. When he stained and painted he used indoor friendly products. He also went out of his way to build a temporary rail for the safety of our children when he realized the new ones would not be in place before he left that day. Adrian and his crew showed up on time everyday. Everyone was professional. Our project was completed without a hitch. Our staircase turned out beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Every visitor that we have had over since the stairs were remodeled has complimented on the quality and appearance. I would not hesitate to recommend Adrian to others.

Both the client and his project where extremely nice. When you are doing this type of high quality projects, you don't say "thank God is Friday", you rather say "I can't wait the weekend to be over so I can go there". Thank you for the opportunity to do something unique using my own products.

These guys are hard working and really busy. It took quite a while to schedule the job. There was a bit of confusion around who was getting the special crown molding that I wanted. When we ran out of crown molding we had to wait several weeks for more, then it took a few more weeks to schedule the remaining hour or so of work. Part of the problem was my travel schedule, so I don't blame them entirely. They did show up on time and work hard. The quality of work on the mantle is excellent. In the room where the crown molding was installed, they coped it in one place and cut it square in another. I'm not sure why. The cuts were smooth, so I could disguise the difference with a bit of sanding, some caulk and paint. Very pleasant and professional workers. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. They provided good work and good value. I will probably call them again if I need finish carpenters.

If you need any custom woodworking done in your home, hire Adrian. He installed a custom built, beautiful railing on our back staircase to the 2nd floor and he was a pleasure to do business with. Professional, polite, honest, hardworking. Can't ask for much more. You will not be disappointed in the quality. Will definitely hire again for future projects!

A. Overall Experience - Found Adrian on Angie's list, no one referred me to him. I hired him if only for his extensive list of positive reviews, submitted by dozens of other pleased clients. Glad we hired him. It's been a highly gratifying experience working with Adrian & George at Splash Carpentry. My experience has been so overwhelmingly positive, I told Adrian to have any of his potential clients call me as a personal reference and provide them with before and after pictures of our finished carpentry work performed by Adrian & George. PS - we're renovating our 2nd floor next year sometime, along with installing all hardwood floors - no question Adrian & George will be doing the work for us. B. Price - I met with three other carpenters and received competitive proposals. Adrian was priced right in the middle. I think Adrian was incredibly fair. He knows the value of his fine work and prices accordingly. Based on four competitive proposals and the work that has been completed, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the price and value I received. C. Change Order & Add On Projects After Contract Agreed Upon - We've built and remodeled a number of homes in our travels, so we have quite a bit of experience working with contractors and tradesmen. In many cases we've felt taken advantage of, when it came to changes and additional projects, after negotiating the original contract. It seems contractors and tradesmen have built-in leverage to charge egregious prices for changes. They inherently know their captive audience won't risk stopping work and to find another contractor / tradesman if the price is out of line. During my 1st floor renovation project with Adrian, I had a number of changes and add-ons (no fault of Adrian's, we changed our mind on a number of items as the project evolved). Change after change, add-on after add-on, Adrian provided us with very fair pricing. It was refreshing. C. Quality - Overall, Superb. Can't say enough, Superb. There were minor imperfections in a few areas of trim work - not because Adrian & George weren't careful and precise. The imperfections were the result of patching together some existing trim with new trim that couldn't be matched (but they did a nearly perfect job). Even Rembrandt couldn't have masked it. Really, I wouldn't have noticed any of the imperfections had they not pointed them out to me. Our home is 25 years old with a few settling areas and out of plumb / out of square walls. So Adrian & George were remarkable at improvising in these less-than-ideal working conditions. D. Responsiveness - Adrian is highly responsive. If he can't be immediately reached by phone (I found him to be very reachable). He is very prompt in replying back to questions by email (which I prefer anyway). E. Punctuality - Not much to say, other than he shows up on time and doesn't leave until he's finished with what he's committed to finishing. Couldn't be more pleased. F. Professionalism - Competitive prices and great quality ranks at top of my criteria for hiring a contractor/tradesman. Right alongside is professionalism. Adrian is a consummate professional. He's smart, articulate, listens well and checks back often to make sure he understands what you want / need. I found this to be true, without exception, in our experience with him. I would definitely describe Adrian as "Client-Centric." He gets it. No excuses, no arguments, no complaining - Adrian gets it done and if it's not done right, he'll make it right. As mentioned earlier, there were several changes and add-ons that were tricky. Based on many of our other building / remodeling experiences with other tradesmen, we expected Adrian to either complain about the changes, or tell us how difficult it would be. Adrian kept the project moving along without missing a beat, always calm and upbeat when we discussed and worked through several unexpected challenges in which Adrian was very accommodating. G. Communication - Ok, if there's any c**** in Adrian's armor, here it is. It's his partner George. George speaks less than fluent English, he's from Romania (and I don't speak a bit of Romanian). If Adrian wasn't on my project site when George was, then communication got slightly challenging (nothing that impeded the quality or timeliness of our project). What George lacks in English communication, he more than makes up for in accurate gestures and drawings of the work he's about to do. He's a very amiable fellow. Really, we didn't find this language gap to be a problem, at worst a minor inconvenience. And by the way, George is an absolute perfectionist, he won't leave something that looks less than first class. So on the one and only occasion that we had a communication gap with George, Adrian was on the phone that day to fix it and on site the next day to make sure we were pleased (and we were). If it weren't for Adrian & George being so accommodating, I'd ding Adrian for this, but just can't, A+ ratings across the board for Splash Carpentry.
Description of Work: Extensive first floor remodel project in residential home. Adrian, George and two helpers did phenomenal work. Most work done by Adrian & George. Here is a list of all the installations performed: . Crown molding and step down trim beneath crown (required detailed precise work) . Wainscoting (custom made on site). . Baseboard & shoe (nice tight angles and fit). . Rehung seven doors and installed hinges & hardware (doors very heavy and complex). . Door casing and trim (many doors and entryways). . Decorative door and window headers (all custom made on site, excellent quality). . Custom handrail installation (bamboo handrail, delicate install). . Two sets of staircase newel posts & balusters (very tricky angles, perfect install and by the way two carpenters passed on the job - they said "too difficult" - other two carpenters provided unreasonable pricing). .

It is very rare to find such a friendly and honest customer. Seeing them being so satisfied with the quality of our work was very pleasant. After meeting over 200 Angie's List members, i can say this gentleman is #1. Easy to work with, very detail orientated. I always say that for a successful residential project you need two quality people: the customer and the contractor.

Bought a deal from Angie's List. Provided the information to Adrian, from Splash. Adrian was very cordial and responsive. I communicated the project to him including sending him pictures of what I wanted. He sent a carpenter to my house who was not versant in English and had instructed the carpenter to construct chair rail, which is not what I requested. Several times, I tried to communicate with the carpenter to direct him and make sure was wanscoating. The carpenter, because of his lack of English couldn't understand me so continued to build chair rail. After 4-5 hours, and me getting on the phone again with Adrian, we finally affirmed the carpenter was doing the wrong project. The carpenter left because he did not have the correct materials. It was then a very challenging and difficult communication process to get Adrian to agree to come back to the right project. When I told Adrian that i wanted to try and work this out as I was going to submit a review on Angie's list after the project finished, he instructed me not to threaten him. They ultimately came back, finished the project with some adjustments to the original agreement. Much of the project was reasonably accomplished. However, there were some important details which were blatantly overlooked. They attached cracked border back to the wall????? How is it that I wasn't informed the trim was cracked???? I'm paying to have wanscoating and that diluted the entire project. Shouldn't EVER happen. Poor quality.

Since this unpleasant incident happened, everything related to coupons we do in writing to protect ourselves from people like this. She insisted to arrange everything by phone. I intended to refuse to help this member and i regret that i did not. Below you can see what she expected us to do for $199 in 8 hours : On Thursday, July 25, 2013 4:47 PM, adrian andercau wrote: Please confirm that this is the project we have to bid on: 1. provide the following materials (to be paid by the client): chair rail, picture frame molding and 1/2" thick paint grade plywood for necessary for 40 feet of wainscoting; 2. remove the furniture and prepare the area for installation : remove baseboards; the room being fully furnished and no room to dispose during work so it needs to be done in stages which is more time consuming; 3. install the plywood, chair rail and picture frame molding on 40 liner feet of wall; 4. move the furniture back after the project is completed. Most of the Angie's List members are nice people and they respect our work and quality. This one did not. We really regret that we helped this person on our expense.
