We are a a remodeling company and we hired Splash Carpentry to replace a very badly built staircase. They were quick to respond, built and finished 90% of the parts in their shop which minimized the time needed at the jobsite. Considering the fact that it was a residential project and our customers were living in the house, this was a huge advantage. We are already at the 4th project with Splash Carpentry and it's a very good feeling to have this company handling our carpentry work.

Although the job took a few days longer than originally anticipated, quality work cannot be rushed. Splash executed the refurbishment of the staircase to a very high level of quality. The scope included new stair treads, new newel posts, new banisters and spindles, and hardwood flooring on the landing and upstairs hallway. We are pleased with the results and would hire them again for another project and certainly recommend them to anyone how asks.

(PICTURES OF PROOF WILL BE PROVIDED IF THIS WEBSITE HAS THE OPTION TO UPLOAD PICTURES) Yelp review I didn’t want to write this raw review, but my soul hurts every time I walk around and see all these everlasting scars that Adrian Andercau from Splash Carpentry left on my house. I’ve never done a review in my life, but this review had to be done. I have holes in between my stairs, dents, big bubbles, cracks, and splotches.... I wake up to them and I sleep to them every morning and every night. He worked on my wood stairs, foot boards, baseboards and ceiling trims and molding. I told Adrian Andercau nicely (about 6 times) to take his time as long as the work is clean in the end that I would be a happy customer. And I also asked him if he wants to tell me something (cuz he was 5 months late) or is having trouble with anything to just let me know. He didn’t care to compromise with me for even a second, so whatever reply he replies to this post, is for his “IMAGE on Angies list” and for YOU (the reader) to believe he didn’t do anything wrong. Because all he talked about was how “cool” he was for being on Angies List and how he just wants to build his reputation on here by taking a picture of the “good parts” of his work only. I will provide pictures of bis work if this website has the option. The reply he will write back is not for me at all, and the pictures can prove it because everyone already knows that a picture worth a thousand words. God forbid this happens to anyone else’s house. ...I spent too much time, money, and energy for Adrian Andercau to come and leave a lifetime scar on my stairs/ceilings/and trims.... The ONLY bad experience I have ever had with anyone that worked on my new home addition, everyone else was purely professional. This review will tell you how I spent 5 months and $17,100 for work done by Adrian Andercau that ended up looking LIKE IT WAS OVER 10 YEARS OLD!!! (Mind you, my old bottom floor work looks better and newer than the horrible work that Adrian Andercau did on my new addition...) The pictures I will provide are holes, dents, cracks and more “professional work!” When I met Adrian Andercau for the first couple of times he seemed super promising and I swear to you I trusted him with my house and his work because of the persuasive way he talked to me and reassured me. He even kissed his own hand and fingers to show me that his work will be “beautiful”. He sure did an amazing job with his promises, in the end those promises were all empty. It took him 5 months to work on my stairs. I even went to his shop to check everything out. He worked ALONE!!! NO HELPERS for 5 months!! He kept promising me to wait and be patient because “If you want professional work you have to be patient” ...So my family and I waited patiently for 5 months at a rented apartzment... I don’t think anyone could’ve ever been as patient as us. He refused to finish his work on our stairs and baseboards, because I got mad that I wasn’t ok with him because he left to do another house without finishing mine first. We had an argument on the phone and he was very rude and unprofessional asking me to wait for him to finish up another house he wanted to start working on...even though I’ve already waited 5 months. The experience was horrible, and he did a horrible job. My stairs look like they’re 10+ years old, and my ceiling has spots that look like they have water damage (because he didn’t sand it or something)...He used to come to my house and do something simple for a couple of minutes and leave...then I wouldn’t see him for like another week...and he would get mad when I asked the general contractor to ask him why he hasn’t been working for a week. He was trying to watch the other workers in my house do work so he can learn from them for free...he even told my amazing professional painters that he wanted to test and try something out with him so he can LEARN with my house so he can be a painter.....it was all just a horrible mess. I made the BIGGEST MISTAKE by trusting him and PREPAYING him in full before the work because he “needed to buy material first, otherwise he can’t work” and just because he was on “Angies List” that I should just do as he says and be patient because he’s experienced and I’m not. In the end he didn’t even finish and he left!!! I called him to come finish up the work and I begged him to not leave my house like this, and he threatened to call the police. Long story short, he got his money and had another project to work on. I had to end up getting another company to come finish his horrible work, but they couldn’t fix what he ruined cuz I would need another $17,100...now every time I walk up the stairs and I see the horrible work my soul and body hurt because of all scars all over my house that the new workers couldn’t remove and the useless time and money that I have put into it. I ended up paying my hard earned money for holes, dents, huge gaps, cracks, frozen drips of liquid sealer all over my stairs, and bubbled ceilings. This guy shouldn’t even be on Angie’s list...sorry. Every other person who has worked on my new floor addition did an amazing job, and they all deserve to be on Angies List......not this guy...definitely not. After all this happened, I warned him that I would write a true review about how he took advantage of me, and he didn’t believe me. Well, now here it is. It’s the least I can do after all the trouble he’s put me through. Reading some reviews on this guy, it seems like his work is promising. From the looks of what he’s done to my house, it seems like an unexperienced man that took over his uncles business. I promised myself if it took him 5 months and the work was done decently I would NEVER write a review. But since the work looks like someone with very little experience did it, it hurts my heart that I fully trusted him with my money and my new addition. This is my once in a life time home addition, and this guy ruined everything for me and my family. To sum it up - empty promises - smiles laughing and joking to reassure me - Forced me to prepay $17,100 - Worked alone with ZERO HELPERS - Took 5 months of waiting and suffering - Tried to “LEARN” how to paint through my professional painters for free instead of finishing his own work - I’m left with holes, dents, huge gaps, cracks, frozen drips of liquid sealer all over my stairs, and bubbled ceilings - No compromising - Threatened to call the police - Had to find another company and pay them instead

It was one of the filthiest places I ever had to work in. It was constant smoking in the house, with kids and toddlers around. The only reason I accepted the job was because of the general contractor who I had a good relationship with. The months of waiting were the result of the fight between the homeoner and the Skokie Village inspector. The homeowner simply did not understood there are rules we all need to respect. We did not perform the finishing, the hardwood floor company did and yes, I had a deal with my general contractor to be paid upfront in full, considering the chaotic manner this project was managed by the homeowner.

Our retirement home was built in 1860 and required a custom antique looking white oak 2 step addition, landing, and spindle rail system to complete the staircase. We spent years searching internet sites and architectural salvage yards for an antique spindle and rail system before purchasing one we liked, but antique matching newel posts and accessories were impossible to find. We found Splash Carpentry via the internet and called Adrian to discuss our need and vision. We found Adrian to be patient, intelligent, insightful, quick to understand, willing and able to envision our desired custom design, and always honest. His word is good, his work precision, and his character impeccable. We highly recommend Adrian and Splash Carpentry for your construction needs. You will be very pleased with the relationship, reliability, and result. Jim Braun Springfield, Illinois

Description of Work: Initially it went very well. Major parts done relatively quickly and without too much revision needed. Then long periods of no show followed by complete abandon of job. Many areas needing to now be redone by another company at our expense (likely why they abandoned the job with contract outstanding). Big talk in the beginning, crickets at the end. Extremely disappointing. The can say it was Covid or some other BS reason but they were more than happy to show up through April and zero response to text or phone calls since

I have newel posts and in my book case a carving of George Washington from Splash Carpentry. I LOVE them. My newel posts make a beautiful statement. And George Washington is my hero. It is fun to have a carving of him next to my history books. Adrian is great to work with.

It went fine. I was totally satisfied with the results. In fact it actually came out even better than I envisioned it. There was a niche in one of our bedrooms, the size of a small closet but it didn't have a door and there was no space for a traditional door to open. I wanted to use the space as a closet. I asked Adrian to build a wooden door to the exact dimensions of the niche, stain it ebony to match our furniture, leave cut-outs in the door for two glass panel inserts which we would provide, and provide the hardware for hanging it and install the whole thing. Adrian's company, Splash Carpentry, had re-built the stairway inside our home. He also built a large curved wooden frame for a piece of antique stained glass I had. So I already knew his work was extremly professsional and I know that he can handle unusual creative projects.

Wonderful. Adrian is an great person to work with. He is full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable. He did extensive work in our condo. He helped plan our finish carpentry project and has very good taste. After talking extensively with him, he came up with an extensive plan to install wood paneling in all the public areas of the condo (Wainscoting, crown molding, floorboards, window and door framing) install new cabinetry in the dining room and new doors for our existing closets. The work is top notch and we are very happy with the results. Would highly recommend.

Adrian from Splash Carpentry did an excellent job with the removal of our spiral staircase and replacement of the railing. The railing that was in place was out of code and a hazard for our toddler. Adrian custom made all of the spindles and railing and made sure the space in between the spindles were up to code. He also removed the spiral staircase carefully so we could re-sell it. Adrian was responsive/timely/punctual from the point of getting an estimate to finishing the work. He estimated a timeline to do the work and stuck to that exactly. Adrian is extremely friendly and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely use Adrian in the future for further carpentry work!

Do Not hire these guys. Last May I gave them a $6000 deposit on a large custom cabinet. After 3 months of stalling and lying they told me that they spent my $6000 on the shop and so they cannot order the materials and they will not give me my money back. Around the same time, I ordered replacements for kitchen cabinets and doors which were delivered before they told me about the Great room cabinetry. I will post photos showing that 7 of the doors are either too wide to close or so narrow that the do not cover the contents of the cabinetry. They ruined an expensive DW which they offered to take the cost of off of their final balance due, but since they refuse to finish the large cabinet or fix the ones they installed, I have lost that also. This has cost me approximately $9,000, including all damages and now I have to pay a retainer to my attorney to sue them. They are liars and thieves and they also operate as CNC Designs LLC under one roof on Devon in Lincolnwood.

We have contacted the customer directly with the following: " Dear (customer's name), this is Adrian from Splash Carpentry. We have had a breakdown in communication with your designer and we are no longer willing to work with her to complete the project in your house. My company still wants to complete the work we have been contracted to do. Please let me know if you can provide another contact or if you can work with me directly so we can deliver our cabinetry and fine tune the products already installed".

Excellent communication and scheduling with Adrian (owner) and Alex (contractor). This was important as the new garage door was installed by others and opening specifications and timing was coordinated by client. Very courteous, excellent cleanup of substantial debris, framed new opening to exact specification provided. Reasonable pricing.
Description of Work: Demolish an interior garage loft. Expand garage door opening for larger door including framing, exterior siding and trim, drywall garage interior, move exterior light higher. Haul all demolished material away.

Wow!! All I can say. Adrian and his crew did an amazing job finishing a new construction home I just finished in Chicago. His attention to detail are impeccable! His custom Wayne’s coating on the walls are like nothing I’ve seen before. Kitchen cabinets look amazing and installation was perfect. I will use him for all my future projects. Highly recommend!!

Adrian was punctual and very professional, he was referred to me by my general contractor of 15 years who also does excellent work so I knew I was in good hands. Adrian first measured the space and his partner sent me a few renderings that I sent back with slight modifications until we got it exactly right. He asked for the paint color and hardware and when the cabinet/ armoire was ready his team assembled it on site. It has 2 larger cabinets, 2 smaller cabinets, 2 interior drawers, and 2 exterior drawers with a nice crown molding trim (see photo). Its purpose was to hide our coats, dog leashes, hats etc because we don't have a coat closet and have a custom look. It's almost like a mudroom piece, but in our front hallway. He did a wonderful job, I highly recommend Splash to anyone in need of custom cabinetry.

This is now the second time that we've used Splash. Each time, we were blown away by the quality of the work. It's clear that Adrian cares about attention to detail. On the day of the job, he encountered some difficulties due to the set-up of our basement (not his fault), and he quickly identified a way to still ensure that the railing could be attached correctly. Communication throughout the process was excellent. I will definitely use Splash for all future carpentry needs.

The Splash Carpentry team, led by Adrian, was stellar. Our project involved a whole house remodel for which Splash was hired for carpentry work including repair and staining of existing wood flooring, installation of new doors/hardware, casing, baseboards, and crown molding, restoration and refinishing of an existing wood staircase, and installation of kitchen cabinets. Adrian was great at regularly communicating with the myself and the multiple workers on site to keep the project moving forward. In addition, he was able to mobilize his team to quickly handle different aspects of the project along the way. The project spanned about one year, during which time Adrian stopped by multiple times (including nights and weekends) to review work, give suggestions about how we could stay within budget, or to give suggestions/answer questions about ideas that we had along the way. Adrian is particularly detailed-oriented and wanted to make sure that things were done right. As an example, our house has three different species of wood flooring that were pre-existing in the house, include maple which is difficult to stain well. So, we not only had the challenge of selecting a stain color that would work well with the design of the house but also needed to ensure that that stain selected would look good on all three types of wood. To handle this, Adrian put together several large boards of different types of wood and created various mixes of stains so that we could select a color that we liked. In fact, at one point he invited us to his shop and created dozens of combinations at one sitting to come up with the 'final' stain color. He then created a larger sample board of this color so that we could take it back to the house. Finally, to ensure that everything was perfect, he had his flooring team apply the stain as a sample to different areas of the house so that we could see it on the actual floors. The final result was phenomenal (especially the maple) - almost everyone who visits the house comments on how beautiful the floors look. This is just one example of many that highlights how Splash works. I can honestly say that our project would not have been the same without the flexibility, expertise, craftsmanship, dedication, and help of the Splash Team. Thanks Adrian, for treating our home like your own.

Splash Carpentry did an amazing job on our wainscoting. They came quickly to provide a quote. Their quote was fair. They were on time every day, responsive, beautiful work and the cherry on top was how they cleaned up after themselves so that our place seemed like we didn’t have any work done. I would love if everyone was as easy to work with as them!

The firm does quality work but I did not hire them on this occasion because their price was very high. Perhaps they thought that because I had used them before, I would accept any proposal, however high.

Response from Splash Carpentry
Below is the last email exchange between us and the member. Please note that our quotes are based on the amount of work that needs to be done, level of difficulty, access to the jobsite, working hours allowed per day etc. We are sorry we could not do business together this time and we are happy you found someone to complete your project. We are also honored to be considered expensive. Our business is growing fast, the projects are getting more and more sophisticated and we are in high demand. Hello "customer name" we can go down to $1,500. Let us know if you agree and give us one week notice before the cabinets are coming. Thank you for your business, Splash Carpentry Team [Removed Hyperlink] Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2017 9:04 AM Subject: Re: Adrian - Splash Carpentry quote The number of cabinets to be installed has been reduced to 7 or 8. What was multiple units are being combined in custom made cabinets. Does that affect the price of the installation? Thank you.

Professional, great communication, fast work, excellent floor installation plus shoe base. Splash previously did great work for me, but I have to say the 10 wood stairs previously installed from the 1st floor to basement was a much better installation than the 3 stairs this time. That said, the laminate flooring install was top notch.

Adrian came back to use with a couple of ideas on how he could achieve the look we were looking for. After a couple of back and forth discussions deciding on a final design, he ordered wood specifically for our project and started building the posts the next week. They were shipped the week after that. They are absolutely stunning, and will make the whole staircase. We could not be happier. Can't wait to get the finished and installed. My wife and I would highly recommend Splash Carpentry!
Description of Work: We needed three custom newel posts for the new home we are building. We contacted Adrian at Splash Carpentry to see if he could adapt one of his current designs to our needs. We were after a very specific look to go with our Craftsman architecture and decor, and we wanted to use quarter-sawn white oak.
