Handyman 4 Hire

He was very accomadating and easy to deal with. He came on time. He completed the job on time. He had very good communication during the project. I would use him again. His price was good.

He came in and looked what all had to be done to make sure what needs to be bought. Some of the small things he fixed immediately and went got supplies from Lowes. Overall, everything went very well!

Overall it went great. This is the second time we have used Wayne and he continues to be our handyman. He is punctual, works fast and remains flexible and in good humor as we think of add things for him to do. He makes recommendations on best ways to do things, including less expensive solutions. He seems to be able to do just about anything. There is only one request he has turned down, (refinishing a fiberglass door) because he felt he didn't have the skills and knowledge to do it well. He is as honest as he is good.

The work done was good. They gave me an estimate and the final price was a few dollars more than the estimate. Everything worked out pretty well. I wouldn?t be able to comment on their price, as I haven?t compared their price with anybody else.

Wayne does excellent work. This was a job that needed many different skill sets and he showed them all. The leaking pipe was in a difficult spot to reach but he got into the area and fixed it. The leak is what caused the mold to form on the insulation and warp the door. The outside screen door was a sliding panel that had to go into a track that was slightly warped. Wayne was able to install the panel and it slides perfectly now. The grout around the backsplash and the wall in the kitchen around the cook top was cracking and Wayne removed all the old grout and replaced it with caulk. It looks great!

He installed a glass window, glass storm door, replaced some wood on the side porch, put insulation in our lower ceiling and also installed some wood molding over our fire place. We are going to use him again to have some work done in the bathroom. He was meticulous and involved in doing quality work. He did a fine job replacing the wood on the side porch and then painted it. We felt that he did and excellent job and we were pleased with him.

Ultimately, the work was not performed by Handyman 4 Hire, due to a scheduling problem. While we still need the sink work performed, and will likely call to have him do that work, I remain uncomfortable with the open-ended pricing. In short, estimated prices were given for each job mentioned above, based on a $79/hr labor rate...but with no not-to-exceed amount. Since we have never used H4H before, we have no track record with him regarding the accuracy of his estimates. Since the quotes provided were submitted after a physical inspection of each job site, short of some unforeseen "behind-the-wall" problem, a not-to-exceed amount did not seem to be unreasonable.

Wayne went into the attic and inspected the roof, the insulation, the drywall (ceiling of bathroom), as well as the exhaust fan itself. He found no proof of a leak through the roof at all and offered the conclusion that rain was entering the roof vent hood during particularly wet or windy (the vent hood faces west) days, accumulating in the lower bend of the exhaust vent tubing and eventually overflowing through the exhaust fan. He suggested looking for a roof vent hood that either was hinged or included an air dam which could be installed in place of the current vent hood. Wayne does not do external roof work.

Wayne is all about customer service and giving you what you want. He always provides options for whatever I want to do along with the pros and cons for each. He is very efficient with his time and always leaves my home clean at the end of the day. The best part about Wayne is that even though I know I am picky about how I want things done he always meets or exceeds my expectations. His professionalism, competence and personality make it a real pleasure to work with him. I have used Wayne many times now over several years and can honestly say I would not start a repair or remodeling project around my home without calling him first.

He never called me back. Several months later I called him and he said he didn't know I wanted him to do the job. He set up an appt. to come back and re-measure the windows and I repeated what we had discussed before. The day he was suppose to come over I stayed home all day waiting for him. He never showed up or called. I had a lot of work for him to do after that and was going to take one project at a time, but now I think I will hire someone else.

Wayne is very methodical and has been chipping away at our projects a day at a time. We're thrilled to have found Wayne through Angie's List!!!

Overall this was a very frustrating experience.

I called 3 times at 3 different times of the day (both weekday and weekend) and left one voice mail - NO RESPONSE. Sent an email through company website - NO RESPONSE (2 days and counting). Now granted there was storm that came through Chicagoland, but I'd called prior to it. At the very least to acknowledge that my messages were received.

He gave me an estimate over the phone for the price and the time that it would take to do the work. He was extremely thorough. He was very professional. He always kept me informed for what was going on. The bill and the time that it took was more than expected, but he worked all the full time that he was here.

Wayne did a great job; he's very fastidious.

Wayne of Handyman 4 Hire was prompt, explained clearly what he could do in the time we agreed on, and did everything he said he would, on time - which is important, as he charges by the hour. He also advised in detail on other possible repairs, and what kind of time and expense would be involved. Moreover, he was courteous. Only one small qualm: I had to call him twice to set up our appointment, but then again anyone can miss a single message. I would definitely hire him again.

Wayne gave an estimate for the price and length of time needed for the work at the start of the job and turned out to be very accurate. He was thorough and explained everything he was doing throughout the job. I would definitely use him again.

This man, Wayne, was very friendly and efficient. He was great to work with and when you talked to you he was not condescending in his manner. He was great to have around my three children. He did everything that needed to be done and more. I was very pleased with him and his work.

It went very well. He gave me the choice of centering the light with the mirror or putting it to the right of the mirror above the sink. With the wires it would be easier to put it above the sink and was the same size so that is what he did.

It was excellent. He was good and prompt. It was about a 2 week wait because he was very busy. But he came and did the work and I was very pleased.

This is my first experience using Angie's List. I first turned to Angie's List to find an electrical contractor to repair the damaged bathroom exhaust fan, as well as a few other electrical jobs. Even though several calls were made to the contractor under the Electrical category, no one ever returned my call. I then contacted Handyman 4 Hire and left a voice message. Wayne Pierce promptly returned my call, and proceeded to schedule an appointment for service. Wayne discovered damaged wiring in the attic, in addition to having to replace the exhaust fan. When this job was successfully completed, Wayne repaired the light unit in a ceiling fan, and repaired an outlet. I was extremely pleased with the work performed.

They were on time and very pleasant. They ran into some problems that took longer than expected and that's expense came in. It cost more than I expected. They came when I asked and they did the work that needed done.

Very meticulous. I will use him again.

For the estimate, Wayne spent about 2 hours with me as I explained what I wanted done and how he would go about it. Nothing was rushed as he took the time to go over everything involved. He then sent me a detailed estimate with a contract to sign. We then set a date based on availability of material. I had many questions about what to buy/order and he was always available to assist me with his expertise. He estimated about 3 full days of work and that's exactly what it took. I felt very comfortable with him and no question was too small for him to answer. I was very satisfied with the results and his professionalism and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. He also cleaned up everything, every night before he left.

Originally, I had a coupon for like $150 off and that is why I hired them. He was a very good man and he was very clean too. He had everything that he needed in his truck and he did exactly what he needed to do. I am very pleased with all the work that he did in the six hours that he was here. He was very professional and everything he did is still holding strong.
