Two workmen arrived together to do the work that I had requested. They went abount each task with professionalism and worked without breaks. All work, with the exception of installing a dimmer switch was completed. I was surprised to learn that I had to pay for the man hours of both hanymen which in effect more than doubled the amount that I thought I would have to pay. While I understand that it took longer than expected and that I was paying for the labor of two workers, I would caution users of these special half-priced deals realize that you may need to pay a lot more. I would have appreciated knowing up front that two people were coming and that it would acrually cost a lot more than I budgeted for. All in all, I was very pleased with their work, The overall grade of "B" is reflective of the increased cost that I did not expect.
Description of Work: The two handymen installed a bathroom light and exhaust fan, new control switch, and accent lights. They also replaced bathroom faucets and drain assembly, In the kitchen they replaced a faucet and sprayer unit.

Three jobs were performed over a period of time, starting in 2010. I initially bought an Angie's List Big Deal to have two bedrooms and a bathroom painted. The job was more complicated than originally thought as the previous owner had stripped wall paper and painted over the glue. This presented quite a problem which was worked on and eventually solved. We were so pleased with the work that the following year we had Wayne put in a new shower stall and ceiling in our master bedroom. It turned out beautifully. Then, after having new granite counters installed in the kitchen, we discovered that due to the new sink, we could not reinstall the garbage disposal. I immediately called Wayne for help, as we could not use the sink. He showed up that very day and not only fixed the problem but attached the dishwasher to the counter (a problem that really had me worried) I would definately use him again.
Description of Work: Paint two bedrooms and bathroom, tear out and install new shower in master bath, redo plumbing under sink to fit garbage disposal, and attach dishwasher to new granite counter.

The overall work went very well. They worked steadily and did not waste time. We are very pleased with the work they did.

It was a good experience from start to finish!
Description of Work: We hired Wayne of "Handyman4Hire" to screw down our floors and eliminate squeaks before carpeting was installed. We found that Wayne was very patient, professional and accommodating since we had a small and uncertain window of time to get the task done.. Wayne was always available to answer any questions we had and he gave us a clear, concise estimate of time and expense before taking the job. Wayne and his partner didn't waste a minute of time and did a great job . We will definitely call "Handyman4hire" for any future projects!

Eureka! I finally found someone who does an outstanding job! We have been homeowners for over 35 yrs, and have had many people ?fixing? our house, but they have all had something I didn?t like. But Wayne?nope! Wayne and his helper, Carlos, upgraded our kitchen lighting and installed pendant lights over our breakfast bar. Wayne was able to figure out how to resolve all the issues that come up during a home project. For example, our dryer vent was where we wanted a can light to go?he fixed that and our light is where we wanted it. We have textured ceilings and it is very difficult to match the same texture when you are patching the ceiling. The ceiling looks great! He also uses tools to minimize the dust and dirt and always cleaned up before they left. I?m a very detailed and critical person. Things that don?t bother others, drives me crazy. I can honestly say that I can?t find anything wrong with what Wayne and Carlos did! Oh and one more thing...They took our old lights to Restore! Which is a resale shop instead of throwing them away so others can use them. ? Thanks Wayne!
Description of Work: This was a kitchen lighting project. - Took out the old florescent lights - Took out the Tiffany lamp over our sink. - Installed 5 LED can lights- Replaced the light over our kitchen table - Installed 3 pendant lights over our breakfast bar - Installed dimmer switches on the pendants and cans- Patched the textured ceiling This project was a little tricky as our bedroom was over most of our kitchen and they were not able to access the area via the attic.

They did a good job, came right away, and I have had complaints at first. Then, the valve started leaking. So I called the company to come out and fix the issue. They told me they were not going to charge me anything, but they ended up charging me $144.00 to basically put a lubricant in the valve and install it the same way he did the first time. A day or so after he came out to fix this issue, the valve started leaking again! I called them again, and he said he doesn't know what else he can do. I would not recommend using him and I am trying to get my money back because he never fixed the valve.

Response from Handyman 4 Hire
In response to the member’s complaint I regret we were not able to provide a solution to her issue for an acceptable cost. When we first met she showed me a bath tub and white surround in pristine condition. She had a drip from the spout at the time that was a drop every few minutes. I then learned that the shower valve was very old and had not been replaced along with the remodel of the tub 10 years ago, which made it at least 30 or 40 years old. I told her the only sure way to stop this leak given the age of the valve was to replace it but that given the great condition of her surround and how minor the leak that we should try a less expensive approach first. The only way to replace the valve would be to tear down the surround and thus destroy it or go through the wall in another room which was Faux painted. The member agreed to take the less expensive and less invasive approach to resolving her problem. We were able to find a replacement cartridge and installed it in March of this year. The solution appeared to stop the leak and the member was happy as we had saved her well over a thousand dollars given what to stop the leak and she was happy as we had saved her well over a thousand dollars given what would have needed to be done to replace the valve totally. We heard nothing for six months and then the member called us out for a drip that was less than it was six months earlier, but still one drop every 5 to 10 minutes. During the time I was there, the member constantly complained about previous service personnel and how she felt overcharged. Knowing that the least expensive and only way to stop the leak completely was to tear out dry wall in and adjoining room that had faux painted walls and having listened to constant complaints about others and the cost of their repairs I realized that we were in a no win situation, with the only option to totally resolving the member’s issue being far more than she wanted to spend. At this point we are installed the cartridge and waited for well over ten minutes and no drips were seen. The member was happy with the results and was charged for a service call which we gladly refunded a few days later when she said she saw a drip. Based on our experience with the member and her history with service providers not meeting her expectations per her own words we felt it was best she find another provider to undertake the repairs she wanted knowing that the only approach would cost far more then she wanted to pay. As much as we would like to satisfy every customer who calls us, we realize that there are some situations where the only solution costs more than the client wants to pay and in those situations we have learned that the best policy is to not start work where we know that client will not be happy with the cost of the solution. We feel we provided an appropriate approach to Mrs. Camp’s problem which she agreed to and which satisfied her for six months before making a complaint. The member is a senior who lives alone and for us to have started with a far more costly approach I feel would have been irresponsible on our part. It is, therefore, our belief that the fees charged in March were appropriate and will not be refunded. The member has also made it clear that there isn’t a solution we can provide her for a cost she will be happy with and therefore we feel it best she find another provider to address her issue.

I am always amazed at what Wayne and his collegue are able to accomplish - and their responsiveness to my 'emergencies' is outstanding!!! I have used them before to remodel my bathroom, repair walls, install toilets, repair a barbeque grill, and they even found a way to professioanlly get my new refrigerator into it's space when the delivery men coudln't do it. On several opccasaions I needed them without notice and they are always there for me! The work they did on my patio doors was excellent! I belive my doors/wallsfloor are in better shape than they were when they were brand new. My kitchen looks so new and beautifully painted! Their work is always so meticulously done - they are true perfectionists and it is evenident they take extreme pride in their work. They want the job done well and it clearly shows in the end product. They always do a fantastic job of cleaning up when they are done. If you are looking for top quality service and work, you will definitely want to call Handyman 4 Hire! They are dependable, punctual, professional and a genuine joy to work with. There doesn''t seem to be a job they can't do. They can creatively fix things that you're not sure can be fixed - and they do it extrememly well!
Description of Work: In January, I had sliding patio doors delivered and were to be installed. When the delivery men removed my old door, there was wood that was rotted out and they would not install my doors! It was the middle of winter, sub zero and I had no patio doors in my family room!!! I called Wayne (Handyman 4 Hire) and he was at my house in less than 30 minutes to see what he could. He and his colleague (Carols) boarded up the hole in my wall, secured it so it would be safe, insulated it, put wallboard up, added a layer of plastic and sealed it all the way around. The 'plan' was to repair the wood and install the new doors in the Spring so there would be no damage to my siding because of the cold weather. I felt safe and very warm all winter and was amazed and grateful for how quickly they reponded and completed the work. It was all done in one afternoon. In the Spring, they reuturned and we talked about the water damage that had been done to my wood frame and house. They were very knowledgable and genuinely interested in fixing the problem so I would not experience this again. Before they could install my lower level patio doors, they removed my upstairs patio doors (directly above the downstairs doors) and replaced the wood frame and rotted wood, repaired the leak that was causing the damage and sealed my gutters where they were leaking. They also had to remove and replace part of my kitchen wall and floor (including some tiles) because of rotted wood due to water damage. Once the upstairs was completed, they repaired and replaced a significant amount of damaged wood in my lower level, reframed my patio doors and installed my new doors! When they returned to replace my floor tiles, I asked them to remove my kitchen wallpaper, paint the celing/kitchen, replace my light fixture, and install new outlets near the sink.

He did a wonderful job of building the steps in the garage. He also put in a hand rail for us. We needed a wheelchair ramp for our front door and he did an amazing job. It can be put away when we don't need it but it worked beautifully when we used it. Wayne is so friendly and helpful, we plan to use him again to put in some lighting for our kitchen and patio.

Wayne's first quote was for approx $1100, which included more than the above list. When we took several things off the list, he said it would be half that amount. At the end of the job, he wanted to charge $1500 but then reduced it when some issues were discussed. After he left, we discovered additional problems. The microwave was not installed or vented correctly. It will need to be reinstalled. In addition, the microwave was set on top of and leaned against our new $1400 (plus installation) LG convection range, and the stainless steel on the range was damaged. The curtain rods for the two windows on the same wall are not even and are set too wide - we will now need to have them reinstalled and the recently painted wall patched and repainted. After three days Wayne returned my call inquiring about the microwave. In his message, he did not address the damage issue. Nice guy, but we do not trust him to do more work and will have to pay someone else as much as his bill to have the microwave reinstalled, the curtains reinstalled, the wall fixed and the range repaired. We are hoping the controls on the range weren't damaged and that it is "only" the stainless that was ruined. Wayne also seemed surprised that the standard bifold doors did not fit our closet, even though that had been mentioned when we spoke on the phone (based on prior experience with other closets in the house) and an offer to stop by to measure himself was refused. We gave him the measurements, but the doors did not fit and had to be cut at our house. We had to clean up the wood shavings ourselves and sweep out the garage and the driveway. Not a big deal if that had been the only problem, but the damage to the range is extremely unprofessional and indicates a lack of ability. If he wasn't comfortable installing the micro, he should have just said so instead of causing us new headaches.

Wayne was amazing and I could not be happier with this experience! He returned my initial call promptly and took a lot of time on the phone discussing the odd jobs I had so that I could have the materials on hand when he arrived (he provided clear caulk but I also needed a special color of accent caulk, which I purchased). He completed each job perfectly. I was comfortable leaving him alone in my master suite, and I--in fact--left him alone in the house with no hesitation. When he saw that the ceiling fan replacement would take longer than expected (the original home builder put in the ceiling fan before the ceiling, which necessitated Wayne cutting into the ceiling), he gave me the option of canceling the job before he started and racked up additional time. I respected his honesty up front and gave him the go-ahead on the additional time. He ended up having to not only cut a hole in the ceiling, but he had to retrofit the replacement fan to fit. He did a beautiful job of patching the ceiling and the fan works great, as do the new closet doors; and my master bath shower looks better than it did when it was first installed six years ago. I would never call anyone else when I need work done around the house, and I know we'll be seeing a lot of Wayne in the future. He is truly a master of all trades.
Description of Work: Hired as Angie's Deal of the Day for 3 hours of work: installed new sliding closet doors, replaced caulk in master shower, and replaced ceiling fan in powder room; I hired him for time in addition to the deal.

He came in and he did a good job. I would recommend him. I don't remember what I spent, but I remember it being reasonable. I have thought about calling him again for some other projects. He was fine that one time. He was good. He was not creepy. Sometimes when you have people come in that are handymen you worry about who they are, or where they've been, or are they any good and so on. He was good in everything he did. He did the job in a decent amount of time. I don't remember the price other than that it was reasonable. I don't want to give the guy a bad rating. He did a lot of work in a decent way and from what I remember I would call him again. I called the company that day and they got him out that day itself, so their responsiveness was good. I don't remember their punctuality being off. I don't remember anything negative about it. I called them that day and they told me they had an opening and they could get him out. They did everything they said when they said they would do it. I definitely would use them in the future.

Wayne's' professionalism and level of service is outstanding! He and his colleague were extremely pleasant to have around - friendly, careful with my carpets and took care that my pets were safe during the construction. The job went smoothly and quickly and if there was a minor 'glitch' Wayne offered to help resolve it immediately, which saved me time and kept everything on schedule. Everything was cleaned up when he finished. I was most impressed with Wayne's expertise and attention to detail right from the first time he reviewed what needed to be done all the way through the job. I felt confident my bathroom was in the right hands. Most of all - our new bathroom looks fantastic!!! Wayne also did some small jobs for us which were done quickly and efficiently. He is wonderful and I will most definitely use him again. I feel lucky to have found Wayne/Handyman 4 Hire on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Wayne remodeled our upstairs bathroom and it looks amazing! He removed the wall tiles and the linoleum floor tiles and replaced them with ceramic tiles. He arranged to have our steel tub re-glazed (fantastic!), repaired our floor (no more squeaks!), installed new electrical sockets and light switches, replaced our toilet seal, installed new shower doors, shower head, security bar, new faucet valve, and fixtures. He repaired my towel racks, painted the wall and the doors. He even installed new baseboard trim and thresh holds.

Aside from doing quality work, Wayne was extremely to easy to work with and very responsive. He thoroughly explained the work to be done during the estimate and before starting the job. Wayne responded to our "leak" call immediately. He came over and gave us a free estimate regarding the price range that it would cost to fix our leak. Since Wayne works on a per hour basis, the estimate was just a range of what he estimated it would cost to diagnose and fix the leak. We supposedly had this leak fixed two years ago, so we really wanted to make sure the leak was not going to happen again. He methodically diagnosed the leak. He told us what he was going to do in order to make sure the leak doesn't happen again. He had to cut into the ceiling beneath the leak in order to make sure there wasn't any mold, etc. So, once the leak was fixed, he drywalled and repainted the dining room ceiling. When I asked him about how I can make my wood carpet threshholds look better, he made a recommendation that I could re-finish them. He told me where to go to have a custom stain match made. He also told me how to re-finish them. So, he pulled them up, sanded them, and then came back to nail down the threshholds once again. They look great!!
Description of Work: Repaired leak in upstairs bathroom, caulked and re-grouted tiles, repaired dining room ceiling directly beneath upstairs bathroom which included new drywall and paint. Also, pulled up wood carpet threshholds, sanded, (I refinished), and put them back down.

Wayne did a great job. Had all the necessary supplies needed. Offered to clean up left over grout haze that was left on tile that I thought was unsightly and tried unsuccessfully to remove myself - Wayne cleaned it right up. Best caulking job I ever seen, well worth it. Very professional.
Description of Work: Sealed tile grout & caulked bathtub. Removed stubborn grout haze from tile flooring. Total time spent approx 3.5hrs
