Every aspect of the project was performed professionally. As for the estimate, Steve was prompt on providing an estimate and his estimate was thorough with the details of what was to be done. His pricing was quite competitive with the other estimates we received. Prior to the installation, we had numerous emails.Steve immediately responded to all questions. The crew arrived on time. They protected the surroundings of the house from the falling debris from the tear off. The crew worked steadily through the day. The job was to have lasted 1 day but they were unable to complete it that first day. They informed us of the time issue and arrived promptly the next day as they said they would and did then complete the roofing. The clean up was great. One member of the crew essentially spent his days collecting debris.The yard was clean when they left. l would highly recommend Preferred Roofing

Call to inquire if they provided service to my area. Called. A man answered and said that they did serve this area and would love to do the work. He would have his man in my area call me. Never hear from anyone.

Rick Cooper provided PHENOMENAL SERVICE! From the first time that we spoke over the phone, to when he provided me the estimate, throughout the project and towards the end, Rick was GREAT to work with! He answered all of our questions very thoroughly, explained what needed to be done, gave us his recommendation as to which tile would be best suited for our house. I liked that it was so easy to talk to him, ask questions and his patience especially to newbies that do not know about roofing. It was also great how responsive he was, how quick he was to getting us an estimate on the same day, to fixing our roof right away. Rick really helped us out! We got an estimate a week before the Tornado storm of Sunday 11/17. Our house got hit with 5 different leaks by our kitchen and the breakfast nook, and Rick was able to bump us on the list to get our roof replaced right away before Thanksgiving, and before the weather started to get worst for these kinds of projects. The weather this week was pretty cold and yet his team replaced the roof of our house and garage in 2 days. They started working at 7am all the way through 6pm and paid really close attention to all of details. For example, they were very through making sure that there were no left over shingles on our neighbors backyard and our backyard. It's interesting how many shingles drop from the roof and how quickly you have a mess in the exterior areas and after day one and two of the project, there was no mess to be found. Very clean, very thorough. My husband also had many questions for Rick, wanting to understand exactly what needed to be done and he was very thorough answering all of his questions. I also liked that Rick told us upfront that there may be additional expenses in wood/other materials depending on how bad the wood over our garage was and that he even gave us recommendations for other items to add to the project to ensure that we were going to meet any potential ask from our insurance company. There were no surprises! Rick's team was very courteous, friendly and very hardworking. Overall, INCREDIBLY HAPPY with the work, with the service, with the high attention to detail in the work and how he really cared about answering our questions. It's a big investment and we feel at ease knowing that Rick and his team worked on our roof. We now have him on speed dial for the future when we have to do any work on our windows.

Steve Case of Preferred Roofing did it again! He is a top notch professional interested in getting the job done right. I considered Preferred Roofing because of all the good reviews that company has received on Angie's List. I had two other estimates and not only was Preferred's the most detailed, it was the lowest price! It even included the village permit fee where other companies did not. I have never replaced a roof before, so it was definately a learning experience and can be a bit daunting. Steve arrived on time (early even) for our appointment and to my surprise, he had the estimate for the replacement in his hand. I didn't have to wait a couple days for him to get back to me after measuring. We were then able to go over all the items of the estimate immediately line by line. He explained what I needed and what he thought I didn't need. He swapped out some mushroom vents for two attic fans with a "Can do" attitude. I had two bath fans that were improperly ducted to be just near a mushroom vent for ventilation. At no extra cost, Steve added in two roof vents for those bath fans and connected the ducting. He didn't know about that improper ducting of those fans until after he arrived and asked to see the attic(s) of my house. He is the only roofer that went up in the attic to inspect for mold and ventilation. With the size of my roof being about 4500 sq ft, it was going to take two days to complete the job with a crew of four. The first scheduled days had to be rescheduled because of a threat of rain. I'm glad he looked at the forecast because it poured! The days it was rescheduled for were beautiful and the job was complete in two days. The workers were polite and I really appreciated their attention to detail. I found only three nails on the ground since the job was done. Any time though out the process that I called Steve with questions or concerns, he either answered the phone or called me back very promptly. He followed through with a great attitude and was a pleasure to do business with. I will be considering Preferred next year when I need to replace my siding.

It went great.. they were on time,did a great job, cleaned up excellently,price was good and Steve was great to work with!

Steve came out soon after I called and sat down with me and explained everything they would be doing. I picked out the color with his help and about 10 days later the shingles and paper etc. were delivered. A few days later the guys arrived and started to work. they worked all day and half of the next day. They cleaned up very well and everything looked great. I would use this company again.

I got 3 estimates to replace an old shake roof on a recent home purchase. I was not sure what style roof I wanted. I went with Steve from Preferred Roofing for several reasons. One he gave me the most competitive offer and gave us a very detailed explanation of the work to be done. Steve also offered great advice regarding which type of roof to go with. it was clear he was giving me heart felt advice and not what would be most profitable. His experience in buying and selling homes was very valuable. When I settled on shingles, he was open to using different brands. I again got 2 more estimates once I knew what product I wanted and again Steve came out on top. His workers were very friendly, courteous and hard working. I was really impressed by how diligent his workers were and they even did a full day on Sunday. The final cost was exactly what was stated. I am very happy with the way the roof looks. I have now hired them to take care of rooting siding and replace windows.

Spent a good amount of time discussing the roof, though when I asked how many square feet our roof was he reacted in such a way to make me feel like I had no business asking that question. I had a list of what I would like included in the contract and said I would email that so that it could be included in the quote. 4 days later, on October 3, 2013, I sent the email and never received a response; not an email, follow up phone call, etc. Would not recommend.

We worked with Charlie. He was very professional, came out right away to give us our estimate. We had 4 estimates from different companies, all were within $800 of each other. Preferred Roofing was on the higher side, but they were very responsive with all calls and questions. Once we chose them, they were quick to set everything up for our work to be done, planning with the weather was difficult, but they even came out on the weekend to get the work done for us before the weather turns too cold. They did a great job, the crews were all professional, they cleaned up each evening before leaving. Including going over the grass with a rake, big plus when you have small children. We had them do a lot of work. They replaced our roof, soffits and gutters. This included a lot of wood needing to be replaced, but they did a great job in a timely manner. John with his crew did the soffits and wood work, they were great. Very pleasant, professional, and made sure to offer to replace anything they took down, such as building number, eye bolts, etc. I would recommend Preferred Roofing to friends and neighbors needing exterior work to be done, and will use them again if needed.

Great work by Steve and his team. All work was done on time on selected dates with quality. Great personable service. Workers were respectful of my house as they did their job. Small issues were resolved at my convenience. I plan to have additional work in the spring and Preferred will be my first estimate I get. Thanks Steve for your service. Excellent job.

I have come to expect excellent service and professional communication from Steve Case, Charlie Hershey, and the rest of the Preferred Roofing and Exteriors team. We had such an excellent experience with the roofing team last year that we again turned to Preferred for our new siding this year. We could have obtained other bids but we wanted the best and got it once more. Steve and Charlie are easy to work with, as was Patrick. I am very pleased with the level of attention to detail displayed with our siding instillation and the finishing elements on the external dryer vents, light fixtures, water spigots, etc was beyond my expectations - and believe me - my expectations are high! They came back out twice for a very small tweaking at my request - and did so quickly and without question. Steve - I know how busy you are, but thank you for your timely and personable communication with me each and every time I contacted you! I would recommend this company without question. Preferred - Thank you again for a job well done!!

Everything went very well. Charlie and his entire crew did a great job. In addition to the mold removal, they replaced our cedar shake roof and our attic insulation (the roof replacement was an additional $12,060, the attic insulation was $4630). They added much needed additional ventilation. The entire job took longer than planned, but there were some excessively hot days and iffy weather. I do think the original time estimate was overly optimistic. Overall, though, given the scope of the job, there was minimal disruption, the attic looks like new, and the 3rd party test passed with flying colors.

I'm embarrassed it took so long to post this. Preferred was very prompt in coming over when I called,. In fact, they were the first to respond of 3 roofers I called. A little pushy to get the contract signed before I saw the other estimates, but they just wantedt the work. There were some communication issues, but I have learned I need to be more upfront. i should have said I wanted to know when the workers would come and when they left. And I should have said I wanted to know before any boards were replaced so I could see them. I should have asked about everything since I asked for fascia, but not the soffits. Ah, well, that's for another time. And when I asked how long the work would take and the answered was 1 day, I should have confirmed it was 1 day - not one day for each of the 3 pieces of work -which is what it turned out. Don't be like me! Don't be passive! Two other communication things, then I'll get to the glowing report. 1) In Illinois, if the work is over $1000, there needs to be a copy of the "Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights" signed.. Steve Case didn't have it and when I found it out from someone else, his response was 'But we do it right". I pointed out to him that scam artists say that all the time. We did get it signed before the work started. BTW, they did do it right. 2) They waited until the day before to get the permit. My town says 48 hours, and they sprang a new paper on us that required my property ID number. They should not have waited and I should have checked ahead of time with the village. OK. So, they got a late start because of the permit, but they started the day they said. Steve's brother was on site. I was working from home, but if I didn't hear the pounding, I never would have known they were there. When the board was replaced, they showed me the rotting parts. VERY thorough walk around for nails, shingles, etc. I found only one piece of shiengle and it had fallen deep in the bushes. Cleanup - excellent. One day - done. The man who installed the gutters worked alone. Came later than I expected, but I should have been very specific about that. Still, punctuality could have been a bit better - at least call me. But he got there and how he got the one gutter up the 2.5 stories alone is beyond me. Fast, and great cleanup. Same with the fascia. Overall, I'm very pleased with the company and the people and the workmanship. Not a leak. The gutters don't drip like the old ones. Looks great. One last thing. My neighbors were getting new roofs because of a 'hail storm". I was told I didn't have hail damage. When I asked Steve, he confirmed that I didn't have hail damage. It could have been easy for him to lie and try to scam the insurance company. Sure, it would have cost less,but I prefer honesty.

Just talked on phone with a man at the listed number. Listing said Chicago was service area so figured I'd call based off the good reviews. He said we didn't service that part of Chicago and that was it.

Steve Case and his work crew did an excellent job. They completed the job in a timely fashion, cleaned up all debris and left with the area and yard in an immaculate condition. Steve was the only one of three other roofers we talked to who went into our attic. He found a small patch of mold, told us about it, and took care of it. Steve is very personable, met our needs, and we are extremely happy with the work he did for us.

Went well. Good communication too. Would recommend.

Price was good, everything was good, and the clean up was also good. He is supposed to drop off extra shingles as promised within the next month, I assuming he will do this.

See above...what did the provider do, not much, not returning my calls to come and give us an estimate.

Steve called me back the same day I left him a message. He offered to come out that day ( yesterday) but I wasn't home, so he set up a visit for this morning. He called to tell me he was 20 minutes away and he showed up exactly as planned. When he looked up at the roof, he did think it was the flashing. But the bad news was that to repair it he would have to take off the siding and they don't make this siding anymore so we'd have to replace all of it -- pretty expensive way to fix the leak -- ugh! When he went up onto the roof, he found a place where the caulk had deteriorated and he thought that might be the problem. So he re-caulked that area, took a picture on his ipad and showed me what he had done. His advice was to see if that fixed the problem. He said he was 95% sure that would do it. As you can imagine, that was very good news. And: no charge for doing it. Obviously, I'm delighted with the outcome and hoping this fixes the problem. I think Steve Case seems totally honest and professional and very responsive. One of the other roofers I called from Angie's List hasn't even returned my call (though that was only a day ago, so he may still be getting to it). I would definitely call this company back if I have future needs.

I suspected I had a couple of roof leaks that may require an aged roof to be re-shingled. I called and spoke to Steve Case. Steve came out and investigated the problems and informed me that a re-shingle was NOT needed saving me thousands. I am a detail guy and Steve explained each of my options and made recommendations. I selected/scheduled one of the options and got a fair price from Steve. Steve was very flexible with the work date. The work was done on time with high quality. Steve was very easy to work with and followed up on all my questions and concerns. Great Job all around. I would highly recommend Preferred Roofing.

I received bids from 3 different companies. Preferred roofing was competitively priced. The shingles they recommended were higher rated on Consumer Reports. Although they were busy, they fit our job into their schedule so they could complete the work while we were on vacation. The roof looks great. We had big rains soon afterwards and there were no leaks or other problems. I also appreciated them working with me on payment options. Great communication and great work. It felt great to come home to a new roof with no mess.

We had lost some shingles on our roof. I wanted the insurance to cover a new roof, but they wouldn't. Insurance originally only offered a few hundred more than deductible. Roofing company met insurance inspector and showed them the work required, leading to insurance company offering the $3400 for the repairs. Roofing company did a good job: arrived the day they said they would and took care of the issue before I got home from work. Now you cannot tell a difference between the repaired section and the rest. Would definitely recommend them.

The entire job went very well. A great crew (even had a singer on the crew!) Any questions we had were answered by the crew foreman, the job went rather quickly, the crew did a fantastic job cleaning all the debris. Our next-door neighbor was impressed with the job the crew did and was very pleased that the crew even ran the magnetic nail sweep up and down his driveway. The only negative we have about the process is we weren't told what day the crew would come, so we were caught by surprise when they showed up. On Steve's initial visit, we told him that we lost a shutter in a storm and asked if Preferred would be able to put new shutters up for us, and he agreed. So we bought the shutters and, for a nominal price, Steve came out and personally hung the shutters for us. Overall, we are VERY PLEASED with Steve and Preferred Roofing & Exteriors. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone.
