Damico Paving & Sealcoating

Everything went fine from pricing to the service. Quote was prompt. They said it would be about a week. Called the day before and said they would be out about 7:30am the next day. Crew was there on time, completed the work promptly and professionally. Price was probably a little higher than another provider but I thought the professionalism was worth it.

Rob and his crew were prompt and completed the repaving of the main driveway quickly. They were very cooperative in discussing a couple specific issues, and also removed the buried concrete base of a basketball post that had been right next to the driveway. The sealcoating was deferred until after the main drive had had a few days to cure, and then the weather turned cool and wet causing it to be delayed still more. But the crew showed up late on a Friday afternoon and finished up the work for us. All in all, everything looks GREAT!

I have not had the driveway done yet, but I intend to use this company once I repair some cracks and holes myself.

When I called to schedule the appointment, I asked the contact to please call my cell number when it came time to set the date for the re-sealing, as they had to call me back regarding the specific date. We were out of town, but didn't want to specifically state this for security reasons. Instead of contacting me via cell phone, Damico contacted our home phone and left messages, which we didn't receive while away. When we returned from vacation, our driveway had been freshly sealed and we were unable to unload our car in our garage, which was an inconvenience. Additionally, we usually tape off the edges of our garage apron with masking tape before re-sealing the driveway, to protect that concrete from the black tar marks, but since we were unable to do this and Damico wasn't careful, we now have black marks on our garage apron. All this for twice the cost of what I've paid for re-sealing in the past. When we left a message for the company, complaining, we never received a response. Instead, we received a reminder message within a couple of weeks asking us to pay our bill. We paid, but will never waste money on Damico again.

Damico came out to the house and provided an estimate as promised. Their estimate was lower than the paving company we had used previously. Because of their excellent reviews and the competitive quote, we decided to give them a try. We were not home when they completed the job, but the driveway looked great the area around the driveway was neat and clean

I called Damico based on the solid reviews in Angie's list. I was not disappointed. They responded quickly and quoted the job at a cost that was approximately what I expected. Village permits were my responsibility which were $85 plus I had to post a $200 bond which was returned. I asked one of the people in the permit department if they were familiar with Damico and he said he saw a lot of requests with the job being done by Damico. I followed up with a question about complaints and he responded that I should not have any problems. We scheduled an appointment which was a few weeks away as they were busy. They came out as scheduled and were there all day as the tear off and preparation had to be inspected by the Village before they could lay the asphalt. The job was finished as scheduled and they did an excellent job. The job site was left in a very clean condition as well. All of the people and equipment were at my house throughout the day. Very professional. I would highly recommend.

I called for a sealcoating quote and got a quote for around 1,000.00 to seal and raise my driveway. The man who gave me the quote was impatient and condescending on the phone when I spoke with him. One of the ladies who answers the calls at their office was rude and another I spoke with was extremely nice, but I let her know that due to the high quote and condescending manner of the employee who would be doing the repair work, I would not be using them. I ended up paying around $75.00 for a beautiful driveway with another company.

I initially contacted the company for an estimate. The person who answered the phone was very pleasant and told me exactly what to expect. Within 2 days I received a written estimate. I was pleased with the quote (I was able to use a coupon from Angie's List for an additional 10% discount) and called them back to be placed on the schedule. Within a week they called to let me know they would be coming out the next day and reminded me to move the cars out of the garage. The work was done on time and to my satisfaction. I have no complaints and plan on continuing to use them in the future.

They are quick to give a response. They were really fast to give us an estimate, and they were very professional. They came right out very quick to give us a good estimate.

I pursued four estimates in preparation for this work. One from Angies List (Damico), another from a recommendation from a friend who just had his driveway repaved. I was interested in the explanation and estimation for base preparation and also thickness of layers. I did get adequate explanation from Damico. One of the others estimating got into an elaboration around thickness of asphalt needed and the possible need for several layers, which didn't square to my understanding. I did reject the estimate from the company my friend referenced. I think as soon as the estimator heard it was a friends referral, he translated that as - I have the job anyway, so lets jack up the price by $1000, so he was out. I do compliment Damica for the following items: 1) a very competitive esimate - best of the four. 2) a useful consultation around how the building permit would need to be handled. (This was the tricky part, because the city controls the street to sidewalk side and requires a permit with inspections to make sure none of the water infrastructure has been damaged. 3) the permit delayed things, but once we had that in hand, we agreed the date and they stuck to it. However, we had a rain delay and the foreman agreed that the weather would affect the integrity of the outcome, so he judiciously delayed the work to the next day he could get the inspector there when good weather was expected. 4) on the day of the job, the orchestration of the different activities was somewhat impressive; clearly these people do this alot and every member of the team knew what to do and when to do it. 5) The work was done in one day and was exactly the outcome I was looking for, We have been advised to wait 1 year before seal-coating the new asphalt which we will do. Only time will tell how well these materials hold up. But up to now, I believe I definitely choose the right company for the job and would indeed recommend them to others. Very professional, very experienced, and very customer-oriented.

First of all, I got an immediate response for a quote, and anytime I called with a question, I got an immediate call back either from Rob or one of the ladies in the office. Once we accepted the offer and got the village permit, Rob worked around my schedule so that I could be there while the work was being done. Brad supervised the tear-out and his men had the old asphalt removed and the prep work done in about 90 minutes (700 sq.ft.). We had to wait a couple hours for the inspector to get there, and both Brad and Rob answered questions and chatted while we waited. Once the inspection was done, Rob got his crew of 6-8 men going on the laying of the new asphalt. They were done in about 3 hours, cleaned everything up, gave me a set of do's & don't's for the next year or so, and were on their way. All the workers were friendly and courteous and seemed to take their work seriously. I guess the best test will be how it holds up and looks in 10-15 years, but I couldn't have been happier with the way it went, the professionalism shown by both the supervisors and the workers of Damico, and the care they showed in the detail work where the asphalt met the cement walks and the floor of the garage. They even beveled one area near the sidewalk to make it easier to use my snowblower in the winter! As an indicator of the work they did, my neighbor came out and had Brad give her a quote to do their driveway.

In an industry full of unreliable companies, Damico is a gem. They were very responsive with phone calls. They were very polite and customer service oriented. The crew arrived right on time, were very friendly and did an excellent job. I highly recommend using Damico for residential sealcoating, or commercial work in parking lots, etc.

After receiving a very thorough estimate, Dominick came out and inspected the proposed area for the driveway. talked through the details with me and then did a flawless pave job. We are so pleased and would definitely use them again.

When I called they said that they could do it in the next week or two. I asked them to call first as I was having a party at the house in the next week. The next morning they just showed up at 730am without any advanced notice. I was happy that it would be done but was not prepared as I was just leaving the house when they arrived. When I returned home approximately 30 minutes later they were done!! It was very fast. I did have to call to figure out how to pay them as they had already left.

I called Damico to ask them to do a driveway sealcoat job. Their estimator came out and I was quoted a price of $100.00. When I called to schedule the work I was told that they would pencil it in but if a larger job came in I would not be serviced and that they would call to let me know one way or the other. Terribly disappointing experience that wasted my time - I understand (not that I agree) with the business decision to take a better paying job over doing just my driveway but I never received the call that was promised to inform me whether or not the job would be done. If they would have informed me that they were not coming I could have scheduled another vendor to do the work that same day. Instead I stayed home all day waiting for a call or for them to show up. No show - no call - no seal coat! A wasted day. Very unprofessional of Damico to not follow up on a promised communication. Their customer service needs some work. If they don't want small jobs then they should not advertise that they do driveways. BTW - I ended up using another vendor that did a beautiful job at half the cost quoted by Damico!

Received estimates from 3 paving companies. I don't always go with the lowest bid but Damico Paving was the lowest, but had very good reviews. I accepted, signed and sent in the bid and called Damico to inform them as such and to find out what was next. They informed me to go to get the permit. When I went to Des Plaines city hall for the permit, they informed me that Damico's license for 2013 was not up to date and could not provide a permit until that was updated. I called Damico and informed them. They said they will look into it and get back to me. I didn't hear from them for a couple of days and so I called back and they informed me they had just sent in the paperwork and would check with the city and get back to me as soon as they confirm the city received the paperwork. A couple more days went by with no call from Damico so I called back. This time Damico called the city and confirmed the paperwork was updated and I could go back to pick up the permit. Once I got the permit, I called the original estimator to set up a date for paving. He said due to the heavy rains it would be a couple of weeks, which was OK with me. After a couple of weeks I called back, leaving a message to find out where I was on the schedule. I received a call back with a scheduled date. The prep work was on Thursday. This consisted of removing the old asphalt, adding more crushed stone and repacking. Damico had pre-scheduled the city to come out for a pre-paving inspection that afternoon. With the city's approval, the paving proceeded on Friday. The crew was very well orchestrated. Everyone knew their job. They were very detailed. Workmanship was excellent. Cleanup was excellent as well. In summary, I would say Damico needs to improve their follow-up with their customers. Fortunately, I wasn't in any hurry for the job. However, the main thing is that I am very satisfied with the work of their crew. I would recommend Damico Paving with the caveats regarding their follow-ups.

It was a good experience. The quality of the job and everybody was great. The efficiency, they were in and out of here, it was like a machine. They were very meticulous and the clean up was good. I was very pleased with the result as well.

Damico was great. It took a week or two to get a quote and to schedule the work, but they did a fantastic job at a competitive price. I'll definitely be calling them to seal the drive every other fall.

Great job! courteous, on time, good price. Old driveway was removed. Fresh stone was brought in to level the base. 3inches of new asphalt put down.

Came out promptly to leave an estimate for sealcoating....one car driveway was $85. Two car driveway was $145. I called to schedule service for middle of July - I called on 6/12. When I didn't hear anything by 7/1, I called again and they could not tell me when they were coming - also could not find estimate or any record of my calling to schedule work to to be done. I called another company to do the work.

We couldn't be happier with our experience. Once I got the building permit, it seemed that Mother Nature was working against us: we had the rainiest June on record. Our sales rep, Brad, was very responsive, and he was so efficient, he was able to schedule the first of the two village-required inspections just two hours after they removed the old drive and compacted the stone, right before yet another deluge. Thanks to the nearly daily thunderstorms, it took an extra week on top of the usual wait time for the crew to be able to remove the old asphalt, and then it was an additional week before they could put in the new asphalt. The installation delay was not their fault, and Brad kept me apprised of the schedule. They were finally able to get our new driveway laid down today (on a Saturday), and it looks fantastic. The crew of five worked quickly and when they left, there was no loose asphalt anywhere and the edges along the brick pavers on each side of the driveway and along the sidewalk were sharp and clean. I was afraid that we'd have to remove or replace the pavers, but Brad assured me that wouldn't be necessary, and he was right. I highly recommend Damico Paving.

Outstanding. They responded quickly for my request for a quote. Once we hired them, they installed the driveway when promised and did an exceptional job. The new driveway looks fantastic.

We didn't use Damico for our job, they were our second choice. I have no doubt they do a fantastic job

Damico was very prompt in providing an estimate. We had significant challenges having them return calls and schedule our driveway work after we informed them we were going with them for our driveway. They did the work 3 weeks after originally stated it would be done. Having said all of that, when they did the work, it was excellent. It was completed very quickly and we are pleased with the quality.
