Damico Paving & Sealcoating

It went very well. I would use them again.

Called them early in the Spring and requested to get our drive repaired and sealcoated ASAP as we were listing the house for sale and the LONG driveway is the first thing you see when you pull in, of course. They told me they had to wait for the weather forecast to have several days in a row with a certain minimum overnight temperature so the coating would set properly. As we moved into the Spring season, they followed up with a phone call, we set the date, and they showed up even earlier than they said they would on the designated day. Looks great!

It went great, the sales person was prompt with a professional estimate. He walked me through the permit process and helped get my plans approved with the local building inspector.

Very easy to deal with. Completed the job just like they said they would. Called before they came out and finished before event at my home.

Everything went very smoothly.

The service went fine. A crew of 4 came out and completed the work in about 4 hours. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I had no problem scheduling the service.

Overall, Brad was very informative and answered all of our questions. We were on a tight time limit which he did a great job of ensuring that the work was completed beforehand. My concerns are the following: Permit: They do not acquire the permit and you will be responsible for obtaining it. Quality of product: After the winter of 2014/2015, we had a section of the concrete walkway that has broken off. Additionally, the areas where we park our vehicles have developed dips where the vehicle normally sit. These vehicles are driving daily so they do not just sit there and we also did not park in the driveway for 1 week after it was poured to allow a proper cure.

Went well, will use again in the future.

It went great - very happy with the overall results. I did have to do a little running back and forth to/from work on the day they did the repair because they only gave me one day's notice when they scheduled the work. I work close to home and it's relatively easy for me to run home to meet service providers or repairmen. Since it was late in the season, I wasn't sure if they were going to be able to do the job before the winter, so I figured I would jump at the last-minute opportunity to get the work done on short notice, but it sort of killed my work day -- I had to leave the garage door open so they could pave up to the door, and I just didn't feel good leaving the garage & access into our house open for a few hours while they worked. So I had to wait around in-between crews (removal and repaving) before I could head back to my office. But the driveway turned out nice, and they did a great job!

Damico provided seal-coating this past summer (2014) and a new driveway in 2013. Driveway was phenomenal as I wrote in a prior review. I also had sealcoating done this year and it went fine. At some point in late summer I noticed a small crack towards the edge of the drive-way. Having just purchased a new driveway and sealcoating this was a little concerning. I called Rob who handled my new driveway in 2013. He came out right away and indicated my issue was I had not filled in around the edges of the driveway with soil. To his credit he did have Damico come back out and re-seal. Rob is to commended as a) he did not need to re-seal as the issue was due to me not doing the reccommended leveling as is clearly documented in the post new driveway document they hand out.. b)he followed up with me immediately c)he has always answered my numerous follow-up questions Rob and Damico are a company one should choose if you want quality, commitment, and pride. I always get a little nervous on how a company will treat me post-completion. Not a concern with Damico, no wonder they consistently win Angie Super Service awards.

Estimate was done within 2 days of calling Damico. Brad handled the job from start to finish. New driveway was completed in two days and looks amazing. I highly recommend Damico....price was excellent, thorough explanation of work to be done on estimate, and finished job looks better than I imagined.

Damico found a way to squeeze us onto their schedule. Great experience, will use again.

I was very impressed with both the sales, management and work crews. They did what they said, when they said they would do it, at the price they quoted. The driveway is beautiful, very well done on the base, surface and edges. What I appreciated most was that I could talk to the workers and they understood me and I understood them. Both the manager and the sales person were present during the day to make sure all was done as promised.

We are given a window of time and the process for scheduling was explained to us. Weather was a factor, but they discussed that up front. Even with the weather complications, the work was done within the window they provided. Again, high quality, professionalism, and doing what they said they would do when they said they would do it for the price they quoted.

Our old driveway was all kinds of wrong. We were having very serious drainage issues and deterioration but we have only recently purchased this home and had no information on the previous contractor or why it was done so badly. We needed a company that not only knew what they were doing, but could figure out what went wrong with the previous installation and solve our problems. When the crew arrived to do the tear-out, it was evident to them what was causing the drainage issues and they discovered a few other problems we didn't even know about. Who knew that a simple driveway could have so many issues? The crew had the old driveway gone in what seemed like minutes and spent a considerable amount of time correcting the foundation which, as I said before, was truly a mess. When the crew arrived to install the new driveway, it seemed as if an entire army of professionals came to get the job done. Each individual had a job to do and they were fast. They were meticulous about the joints between the concrete slab in the garage, the front steps, the sidewalk, and the curb and careful around the landscaping. In fact, very little of our grass was disturbed during the process and other homes in our neighborhood have been left with large, ugly gaps after new driveway installations. When the job was complete, in a matter of minutes the crew had every scrap of rock, dirt, asphalt, and trash removed from our property and the entire area was swept. There literally was not a single pebble out of place when they were finished. The trucks disappeared and we were left with a beautiful, smooth driveway and a clean yard. What's more, throughout the entire process there were three kids and a dog with their noses pressed up to the windows watching the entire process (and maybe a couple of adults, too). Everyone was great with the kids, they even let them inspect the machinery while it wasn't running. I highly recommend Damico for anyone's paving needs, but especially anyone that's having problems with their current driveway and needs someone who can get the job done right. We are extremely pleased with our new driveway and the entire experience was considerably less stressful, messy, and expensive than we thought it would be. Thank you, Damico!

I would recommend them to anyone in the market for a new driveway or for maintenance. They are very customer service oriented.

My husband reported that the sealcoating job went very well. The crew was here on-time & worked very efficiently. My husband "supervised" the work & when he had any questions the workers responded immediately. They provided the neon-colored tape & wood stakes to set-off the driveway to keep everyone off for the needed 24-48 hours. Damico Paving is a very good provider! Keep this is mind. Plan, get quotes and schedule your work as early as possible.

I used Angie's list , Domico responded ,They sent out a estimator , He called me with price and time. Done.

I called in May to get things going, Brad was very helpful and polite, helping me with the permit process; even filling out the request forms for me. He then got me onto their very busy summer schedule. It took until August, but once I had an appointment, everything went like clockwork. They descended on my driveway with an armada of specialty equipment , finished in good time , and did a beautiful job. Brad was very pleasant to deal with and provided written instructions for care, both short and long term. I highly recommend this company.

Damico paving did a wonderful job replacing our current driveway. After acquiring my city permit I contacted Brad and gave him my permit number. He then told me he would call me back in a week or two with a scheduled date. I heard from him a few weeks later and he gave me the date of August 8th. On the 7th of August they came to prep the driveway, removed all of the existing asphalt, added stone where needed, and then compacted everything. The paving crew showed up the following day and worked like a well oiled machine. It was like watching a paving ballet, everyone knew where they needed to be, exactly when they needed to be there. From start to finish they were professional, courteous, and did an overall wonderful job. The driveway looks great and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I will be hiring them next year for the first seal coat.

Brad came out and did the quote in early May, I had one other quote that was about the same price but Damico was offering an extra 1/2 inch of asphalt so I went with them. Now scheduling did take a little longer than we would have hoped but with all the rain we had in May and June it is to be expected. You obviously cant be tearing out driveways and laying asphalt in the rain. I still gave an A for responsiveness because when I did call for an update they would call right back and they can't control the weather My one suggestion would be to collect your customers e-mails so you can send out occasional updates on the overall schedule. The crew came out on Wednesday and tore out the driveway and prepped the base for reinstallation the next day. I had some sloping issues which the crew addressed as I wanted. The city inspector came by gave the ok and the next day a crew of about seven guys came and did a fantastic putting down the new asphalt. Very impressive, they did their jobs without hardly saying a word to each other, they all know exactly what to do and you could tell took pride in their work. They paid vey close attention to details, making sure the slope was right, the edges properly tamped down, the joint with the sidewalk was clean. Since driveway replacement is not something you go through often, you really need to rely on the input of others. I was very happy with Damico and would recommend them for asphalt work

My ten year old driveway was sinking in spots. Damico manager said it had to be replaced. It was replaced in June of 2012. Within two years, the new driveway started to sink in the same spots and also some cracks developed. No new stone had been added to the bed. Unfortunately, the City of Elgin does not inspect the bed and pretty much trusts the contractor (a mistake in this case). The inspector came out when the job was finished and only looked at the top coat. I am currently parking my cars on the edge of the driveway, until I save enough to hire another contractor to again replace it.

As I write this, we are headed into the Fourth of July weekend. I got an estimate for a new driveway, then called to arrange to have the work completed. I was told I would need to get my own permit. So I got the permit and was instructed to "text" the permit number to "Brad" and he would set up the appointment to get the work done. I didn't hear back, so I texted Brad to ask when the driveway would be scheduled. He didn't respond. I texted again asking for a response. Then I got a phone call immediately from Brad and he gave me the excuse that he was having phone trouble and had lost all his contacts. How can a company do business this way? You mean to tell me that they don't have a record of my estimate or my information anywhere else but on Brad's phone? That was back in May 2014. Brad set up a date for the new driveway. I moved cars around so that the driveway would be ready for the work to begin. No one showed up. I got a call the next day from Brad and he told me they weren't able to come out due to the weather. It rained. OK, I understood that. Then he said he would be out the next week. That was June 5. I have heard nothing from Brad since then. Each time I try to call the company, they tell me that I need to call Brad directly. When I do call Brad, he sounds like he's annoyed that I'm calling. This driveway is a simple replacement of an existing asphalt driveway. I guess some companies are doing so well that they can ignore customers and turn down work. UPDATE: After my "F" rating of this contractor, I received a call from Brad. Surprise, surprise! He asked if I still wanted the driveway installed. Yes, I did, I told him. So, after months and months of no communication, my driveway has been installed. The installation went well, and I am pleased with the results. I am only giving this contractor a "C" rating because of all of the problems with Brad. I seriously think this company (if Brad is not the owner) should reconsider having him in contact with customers. He doesn't have good "people skills" and comes off as uninterested in gaining anyone's business. I should mention that Brad asked me to update this review. Not sure I would have done so otherwise.

They did great. They are very clean, quick and the price is also reasonable.
