I called on Christmas Day after my old water heater started to leak. The answering message said they would be back in the office on Mon, Dec. 29. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received a call early Friday morning. Jim said someone would be out that day to replace the water heater. Keith arrived at noon. He had to remove the utility room door, move the washer out and take down a shelf. When he went to drain the old tank, the valve was frozen shut. He had to move out a full tank (500 lbs all together) and break open the drain valve outside. All this was done cheerfully and efficiently. He even wiped up small amounts of snow that stuck to his boots. The total price was similar to what I would have paid for a water heater and installation from a big box store, but I now have a much better unit that is the right size and I know it was installed properly.

I called R&S on Tuesday Nov 25th. I stated that I have blockage in my main drain from roots, and truly need them ASAP, as I have people coming over for Thanksgiving. The lady I spoke with was very understanding and told me she would try to fit me in before the holiday. Now mind you I ve been in the house for 2 months, had 2 other plumbing services attempt to do the job, and both failed miserably. On Wednesday, I get a call from Keith from R&S, who explained to me that he s booked but should be able to fit me in and stop by the house around noon. Well from the very first moment I spoke with him, he was just a genuine great person. He pulls up to the house, and I explained the problem. First thing he does is try to find a clean-out trap, versus pulling the toilet. No luck. He then shows me 2 cutting heads for the rod, one big and one small. He tells me the large cutter would really do the job much better if he can get it into the pipe. We ll he worked at it and eventually was able to use the large head and was able to go 90 feet, all the way to the main sewer. I realistically cannot say enough about Keith and the service he provided. Not only did he do the job, whereas others couldn t, he was just the epitome of what all service people should be. Friendly, respectable, and determined to get the job done, and done correctly. Keith and R&S Plumbing will always get my business, and I wouldn t hesitate in a moment to recommend them to anyone. He was really a unique individual, and I was fortunate enough to be acquainted with him that day.

I am very satisfied with the work performed. Keith never once lost his cool, in fact he was very polite, pleasant and even cheerful. He kept me informed during the jobs, what his assessment of the problem was, how he intended to tackle it, what he was going to do differently to circumvent the problem. In fact the time passed very quickly.

I had a leaking water heater that was only 3 months old. The original installing company was not responding to repeated messages left asking for service. I found R & S on Angie's List and called them for advice. Diana suggested I call the manufacturer because they don't deal in this particular product. It was very good advice. It was determined that my heater was indeed faulty and would be replaced under warranty. I called Diana at R & S and she said they could help me out with the replacement. After many calls on her part to figure out what needed to be done to get the new heater, Jim came the next day to get a tag from the leaking heater and returned early the next day to install the new heater. He was very pleasant and took the time to explain what he was doing. He charged me less than I expected because of all of the hassles I got from the other company. I feel the service was above and beyond from everyone involved, especially because they don't even normally install this brand of heater. I will definitely recommend this company and use them again for any plumbing problems.

When I called R&S, the gentleman asked specific questions regarding our water heaters, one which was not working. Because of their age (approx. 14 years), I was told exactly how much the new heaters would cost and to be installed. Due to the type and number of water heaters, they had to be ordered. They received the heaters quickly, the workers were here when they said they would be and the water heaters have been working just fine. I felt R&S gave me all the information I needed without "selling" or "upselling" me.

I was very pleased with the work performed--done quickly and efficiently, cleaned up after the work was done. Keith was extremely informative, explained what the problem was and gave appropriate advice to avoid future issues.

Asked for quote (approx) on phone. Scheduled, price exactly as quoted. Contractor advised on two related plumbing items, very helpful! Quick, professional & very competent. Hey - these guys are good! Thanks Angie! I had another plumber send 2 men to put in 30' of plastic pipe in a trench I dug! After they got their radio and saw set up (I thought they were getting ready to camp out!) Worked for 1 1/2 hours my bill was $450. The recent experience with R & S was so pleasant, honest, efficient, through it renewed my faith in the plumbing trade. Really! Heard about Angie's List on the radio on 9/3, signed up, work done, very satisfactory by 9/5. Kudos to you guys too!

I had contracted with them a few weeks prior for a leak. When I called they came out within a couple of hours which was outstanding. I thought the price was reasonable. They were respectful.

The work (actually the lack of work) went really well. I was impressed by the professionalism, honesty, and explanation provided. Highly recommended. I called and left a message to call me back to schedule a drain cleaning (no drainage, it was for maintenace only, we just moved into this house). R&S called back within an hour and quoted the cost over the phone, which was reasonable, so I scheduled the work. The worker called me about 30 minutes before he was going to show up, and he arrived on time. Rather than going straight to work, he expalined to us what he observed from the outside, then inspected the work area in the basement. He then expalined to us why the work I requested (drain cleaning for maintenace) was really unnecessary. He also gave us tips on how to keep the pipes clean. He probably spent 30 minutes with us but did not charge us anything for coming out. We will definetely call R&S back when we need plumbing work.

Great from start to finish. Professional as always. Have used this company before and will again in the future.

My wife and I have used Keith from this company before and had a great experience. We got Jim this time, who at first, told me "they shouldn't allow you to use the well water in Prospect Heights". Perhaps he would like to help us get Lake Michigan water, as we would love to do, if only our neighbors would vote for such a thing. In any case, he performed the work while my wife was home with our new baby. She explained to him that the magnesium rod causes problems and should be pulled to avoid black sulfur smelling hot water. He said that would void the warranty and that he would order an aluminum rod to replace the mag rod. A week later, I was filling a bath for the baby and noticed black sulfur smelling water. My wife had left a message at R & S Plumbing earlier in the day and was told that the aluminum rod was never ordered. She did speak with Jim later who expressed his dissatisfaction with her "tone of voice" in demanding prompt action. We will certainly use Keith again, but never Jim!

We had a serious backup from our laundry room floor drain. We called R & S around 8 P.M. and Jim returned our call within 30 minutes. They were able to schedule an appointment for us within a couple of days. Keith arrived on time, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He ran into several obstacles in attempts to resolve the problem, however, was determined and wouldn't give up until the pipe was clear. We are very impressed with the service and will be using them again to install a permanent clean out drain.

Job went very well. Jim is very experienced, I felt I could trust what he was explaining to me. It also took less time than I thought it would.

My tenant contacted me stating that the hot water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced, he had gone ahead and gotten a quote between $1,300-$1,500. I called R&S without knowing any specs on the water heater and they were nice enough to give me quotes for all different sizes and types that they install, all of which came in under the quotes from the other vendor. Once I found the specs on the original water heater I called back and scheduled the work for the next day. Jim became available two hours earlier the next day and called to see if I could meet him meet him at the work site, which I was. He replaced the heater in about an hour.

I called Jim on 8/15 in the afternoon to ask to have my sump pump replaced, we scheduled an appointment for 8/18 at 10 AM. Before scheduling I asked what the costs would be, he quoted me an hourly rate plus materials. Jim called me on 8/18 and said he would be running a little late, maybe 10 to 15 minutes, due to completing a job. Nice to know people care and follow up. Work was performed within 1.5 hours. Very nice, professional person. I want to Thank Jim for the work done.

Keith came to our place and fixed our problem. He did the work in a couple hours and was able to tell us our plumbing was doing just fine. It was a smooth transaction and they took care of the problem right away.

I was very happy with the second day's work, since all our issues were resolved. The first day, I wasn't sure why it was $140 to start a project that couldn't be finished. However, I understand that the first plumber was not expecting to find such a mess in our drains, and didn't have the scheduled time or tools necessary to resolve our issues that day.

I called on a Saturday afternoon to request someone to come out to replace a toilet. The person I spoke with was very professional and scheduled an appt. on Monday morning. Mark arrived on time with a new Koehler toilet that I requested and removed the old toilet, rodded the drain, and installed the new toilet in about an hour. The total charge came to $415, material and labor, as quoted, and Mark disposed of the old toilet. A very pleasant experience from start to finish.

We had had a bunch of people come and look at it, and they came up with the cheapest, simplest solution out of anybody. They were very nice, and the work they did was great!

The plumber arrived when expected and replaced parts on the constantly running toilet and replaced the handheld shower hose. About 1/2 hour after he left, the toilet resumed running and wouldn't stop. I called and informed R & S's office of the trouble and I asked them to send Keith (my regular plumber). Within an hour or so, Keith arrived. The man is a plumbing genius! He fixed the running toilet and it has been perfect ever since. Thank you Keith!!

R&S did a fine job of replacing our toilet, vanity, and finishing up the trim work on our new tub valve which we had them replace earlier. The original two handle bath tub/shower faucet leaked when it was turned on. It has been like this for 8 years. R&S came to replace that valve for us a few months ago. Since we had needed to break out part of the tile to get to the old valve we decided to basically do a minor bathroom upgrade. New floor and wall tile, mirror, etc...He also fixed the bath tub drain plug which never worked. It proved to be harder to remove then originally thought, but he go it off and put a retro kit on it. Finally we have a bathtub faucet that does not leak when it is on and a bath tub plug that works.

Keith was very professional and very knowledgeable. I feel lucky to have found a competent, and trustworthy contractor.

Very satisfactory. Will use again if necessity arises.
