Description of Work: Mike came to our address exactly at the time promised for a "clean and check" of our older Sub-Zero. He did a thorough cleaning, and the fan and compressors sound better - less under stress. He answered a number of questions, and I think our Sub-Zero is going to last longer than I imagined. Mike clearly knows Sub-Zero units well. He pointed out a broken drain pan that needs replacing, and I told him to request that it be ordered. I will be happy to have him back as soon as the part arrives.

Description of Work: We have used this company before and had pleasant experiences. Refrigerator leaked all over floor. Called in morning (24 hour emergency service). Repairman called back told us to turn off the water located under the sink. The water line wasn't under the sink, I called back. Repairman never returned our phone call. It took us a few hours to find someone who knew how to turn it off (behind the refrigerator) and more damage to our floor. Ugh!

Description of Work: Had Northtown Home services out to repair dishwasher. They came out, figured out the problem and said that they would order the part and once it came in they would come back and repair it. Part came in, service man came out, replaced faulty part and realized that there was a more serious issue. I was only charged for the diagnosis visit, not the repair visit. My only negative is that they would call in the morning with a two hour window. The service technician called at the last 5 min of the two hour window the first time to say that he will be arriving in 15 minutes. The second time he called and asked my preference (which didn't work for him) and then he suggested his time preference. Again the two hour window came and went, so I called and cancelled for the day as we were approaching dinnertime and I would need to be in the kitchen! The third time, I requested a morning time, got a two hour window again, and he came closer to the end of the window again. Apparently you can request/reserve the first appt of the day for an additional $25. Overall though, the repair technician was very knowledgeable, and I appreciated his honesty about the problem and his recommendation to get a new dishwasher in the end. He didn't charge for the 2nd visit.

Thank you for your report. I do apologize for the problem with the time frame. Occasionally our technicians will run late on a time frame. With repair things can take longer than expected at times. Our techs try to call as soon as they recognize this but do sometimes loose track of time when they are in the middle of a job. The office as well, tries to stay on top of this. Description of Work: Dishwasher was not working after we shut off water to the entire house. I thought the water intake valve was clogged as water was not filling the dishwasher. I tried all different cycles and could not get it to work so called repair service. Tech Mike M. (highly recommend him when you call North Town) turns the dishwasher on first time and it works perfectly. He tried to duplicate the problem - manually testing the valve and working the unit though the entire timer cycle. In the end he said - "we don't replace parts that are not broken." So, I was just charged the "service fee minus the $10 rebate for booking the appt online." Mike really spend time testing my washer. Ask for him if you call. They booked the appt the next day and I gave them a B for punctuality because he was late - outside his 2 hour window.

They are very responsive. They write a note to thank you for your business and they follow up well. Their pricing also seems to be reasonable and they give detailed billing. They are up front about pricing and options, so there are no surprises. I really like them.

When I called to inquire about availability and pricing, AT NO TIME was I told that I would be charged $148 per item just as a consulting fee. I even called back after being invoiced and asked very specific questions and the ''customer service'' rep did not mention the expense. It was several hundred dollars in addition for Service and parts. A technician was available on short notice for the initial inspection, which we were not told at any time would cost $148 per item (the oven and the downdraft were considered two separate items). In addition, it took several visits for all the parts to be delivered and the total repair to be done. When I expressed concern about the cost and refused to pay until I spoke to someone at North Town, the repairman stalked our house and nanny for several days.
Description of Work: We were referred to North Town through the Thermadore customer service line. Our Thermadore oven light was broken and the downdraft was stuck in the up position.

Basically this company appears to be fraudulent. They charged me $164 to LOOK at my dacor microwave and oven/range to tell me exactly what I already knew and was obvious to anyone. They then quoted an outrageous price for 2 cosmetic repairs and parts plus a microwave electronic touchpad repair. They wanted $700 for installing 2 pieces of plastic and "fixing" the touch pad. They were referred by the Dacor company and I am embarrassed to say I have been taken.
Description of Work: No actual work was performed other than an estimate that was exorbitant.

THIS COMPANY IS RIPPING PEOPLE, INCLUDING ME, OFF. $700 TO REPLACE A THERMOSTAT ON A REFRIGERATOR IN UNCONSCIONABLE. AWFUL EXPERIENCE, IT TOOK TEN DAYS FOR SIMPLE REPAIR. ANOTHER SERVICE COMPANY ESTIMATED (AFTER THE FACT) THAT THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED NOT MORE THAN $300.
