Description of Work: Service wasn't performed because the A/C was broken to the point of needing replacement. So, effectively the 'Big Deal' amounted to a service call informing me it needed to be replaced. As a professional courtesy (and probably good business practice) they should have offered to credit the amount toward a service call when service was provided.

Description of Work: Our AC blew I found American Star on Angies List and called them. I got an appointment next available next day. The technician came out and was very professional and nice. My AC was blown so he gave me a number to set up a sales appointment.I called and the woman that sets these appointments up was a throw back from the 50s. She kept saying the "Decision Maker" needed to be there. Very reminicent of time share talks where they want your significant other. 3 times I assured her I owned the honme and would be making the desision. I asked her nicely to quit talking to me like a 50s throwback. She just couldnt do it I had to go with another company (Bella). I felt like dealing with American Star I was setting women back 100 years. They already had 89.00 of my doallars I could use to the new unit, but I just could not go with them. They also wanted 3 appointments 1 consulation 2 sales 3 installs They wouldnt give me a ball park figure either. I saw an ad for Bella they listed a Trane for 1800.00 which I took and they came and installed it. Boom. In the bill it said Flat rate sale no surprises. American Star Dont make someone have 3 appointments its to many Do realize women make many decisions Dont make me say more then 1 I am the home owner Do give people some ball park figures.

I am sorry that you had a problem with your service call. We do not give ball park price due to units being from $1000 to $3000. Our company specializes in designing, engineering, and installing complete comfort systems. Every house is different due to their needs we cannot give a ballpark number. Our entire company works hard to make your experience with us hassle-free and enjoyable which is why we work with your schedule. Should we make a mistake, we will do everything in our power to correct it to your satisfaction. We needed to make multiple appointments because one was a service tech who knows how to fix units, one is a survey guy who knows how to make sure the unit your buying is going to work for you and the third is our install crew. From the professionalism of our sales engineers, to the dedication of our field personnel, we are dedicated to delivering you the best. We pledge to always tell you up front what your cost will be to complete your job correctly which is why we had to have someone who knows how to size equipment correctly. We make it a point to go over any details or limitations of the proposed system that will affect your enjoyment of the end result. You are told exactly what to expect up front. We back this philosophy with our exclusive written guarantee when choosing American Star Total Home Comfort to contract your job: "If at any time during the first year of installation, you are not 100% satisfied with the performance of the equipment, our service or even our people, we will, within 30 days of your request, remove the system and cheerfully refund the entire amount of the contract." Compare our guarantee with the limitations, fine print and exclusions other companies tend to use to back their work today. Others will typically guarantee only the functionality of the equipment--not your satisfaction with the process or that the finished job lives up to your expectations. I am sorry that your unit was over 30 years old and with our records we did reimburse you the $89.00 for the service call.
