His prices were fair and much better than most of his competitors. He made sure everything was done right and triple checked to confirm all the work. I highly recommend JJ for a whole home interior paint job.

Consulted with me about how best to proceed and what color (3 were used) would best bring out the millwork detail on the front entrance. Many compliments by neighbors (a few who also hired Swanwater) and passersby. A great job!

Very professional, helpful, punctual. Had good suggestions about color choices for the painting. Did a great job with no drips or mistakes. Will definitely employ again for future painting needs.

Took them a while to get going due to them being a little overbooked. However it was worth the wait. JJ the owner did most of the repair work and it matched up well to out existing texture on the walls and ceilings. We had them paint the kitchen, living room, hallway, and finished 900sqft in the basement.

I invited JJ (the owner) to my home in May 2013 to get an estimate on painting a hall (upper, stair case, and lower) and my kitchen. I am a small business owner and believe is supporting small, locally-owned businesses. The quote was approximately $1000. It was supposed to be a two day job. Although the price was high, I thought JJ seemed conscientious and it turned out my husband knew his father. JJ told me that if we did not give him a deposit he would get my work done in July. If I gave him a deposit, he said it would be sooner than that - sometime in June. Because July was not terribly far away; we agreed to shake hands on it, signed the contract and he left without a deposit. After everything that has (not) happened, I'm really glad we didn't give him any money! At the end of July we still had not heard from JJ, so I called him. He told me that it was going to be late August or early September before he could schedule our work. Frustration was rising. Mid-September I called JJ literally begging him to do the painting ASAP. He mumbled something about maybe being able to do it on a Saturday but gave no commitment. I even offered to pay him 100% of the money upfront if he would just come over and do the work. He declined payment, saying that at that point even if I paid him that day he could still not get to me until October. I never heard from him again. At the end of October, I found an excellent painter that did my entire job in two days and charged me $450. I am extremely disgusted with Swanwater Painting. I guess if the owner actually shows up, the work is pretty good. It's the showing up part that's the problem. If you expect your job to be completed in a timely fashion, or at all as in my case, hire someone else. I can provide copies of signed contract if validation is needed for this review. UPDATE: I was just looking through our reviews and noticed that JJ had responded. I would like anyone that reads it to know that JJ completely twisted the truth in his explanation of why he never completed work for us. He told me that the way his jobs were lined up, our home would be painted in the same order regardless of whether or not we paid him a deposit. He was the one that gave me the timeline and that set my expectations as to when work was to be completed. His reference to my asking him to somehow give me preferential treatment if I paid him a deposit and his "ethics" in refusing to do so is complete rubbish.

Both rooms were coated with nicotine from years of smokers. We needed it done before a house guest arrived who is allergic. Joel had to squeeze us in because he was booked but he didn't scrimp on the job. He made repairs that needed to be done, as he went along. It took several coats to cover those stains. The rooms look great, it was done before my guest arrived, and Joel is a lot of fun to work with. I am very picky about what I am paying for. I know what I want and I double check everything I am told. Joel was honest, upfront and did a great job. Our house guest loves it. I have lots more painting to do and will use Joel. In summary if you want honesty, good product and a quality painter, call Joel at Swanwater Painting.

My wife and I moved into our new house mid of March. While the house was in good shape, we wanted to change colors in some of the rooms. We used angies.com to identify potential painters. JJ responded to our email in 24 hours after we contacted him. He came over to our house to discuss the required work including time needed and cost involved. JJ also advised us on color choices. JJ came at the day and time agreed on and performed an outstanding job. The quality of his craftsmanship is of top level. He is very passionate about his job and is committed to provide service and quality. After the painting job was done, he cleaned up and left the place in perfect condition. We asked JJ to come again to paint another room - this was within two weeks of the first job. He again did an outstanding job. We will call JJ again for any other paint job we have in the future.

Contacted the painter, he showed up for the appointment on a Monday and by the next Monday my painting was done. It looks exactly like I wanted it to. I couldn't have taken a magic wand and wished for anything better. Quality is #!. The painter is a very nice young man also. Very personable. I would recommend him to anyone.

JJ was great! He got back to me within hours of first making contact. He took time to come and give an estimate later in the evening to accommodate my schedule. Once I contacted him to schedule the work, he was very prompt and got everything scheduled quickly. When work time came, he was there when he said he would be and worked very hard all day. At one point during the week, he realized he had underestimated the time for wallpaper removal and may not get everything done on time, but he hired another person to help him. In addition to that, he worked late (with asking permission first) to get everything done on time. His estimate was lower than any of the other 4 companies that quoted the job. Because he underestimated the time it would take for wallpaper removal, the final bill was higher than the estimate, but still lower than the others' bids. But he offered to lower the total since he underestimated the time. The quality of work was excellent. It's obvious he is a perfectionist and takes pride in doing a good job! I will definitely use Swanwater painting again for any work I need done!

They came out to provide a quote for exterior painting for our home. They arrived on time and spent almost two hours going over the details of the job. Then then never sent a quote. We followed up with two phone calls, but they did not return these calls. I can understand if they did not want the job, but a phone call to let us know would have been nice.

JJ was quick to respond to my intial phone call. He was realistic about his availability, friendly, and prompt. After the first day of work, he realized that the job was going to require some additional repairs. We discussed the additions that were very fair and agreed on next steps. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the work.

We had a great experience and would strongly recommend them. We were not only impressed with the expected things that he did but the unexpected things that they did for us. The quality of the work was excellent. We plan to use them again in the future.

There aren't enough words to describe the tremendous job JJ & his crew did to make me proud of my home & its beautiful redo!! JJ is SO professional and a JOY to work with. He put SO much time and effort (and it was quite an effort) scraping those weather-worn years of old paint. My wood garage door, with its new plywood panels replacing the glass, looks brand new. J. J. is professional and careful about his commitments. He only takes on what he feels he can do. When one hires him, you have him for the duration of the work. There was not once that he or his partner Steve left "mid-stream" to work on another project. He quickly endeared himself to our family. His friendly and professional demeanor was engaging, his smile and atittude always up-beat. Settling the account with him was quick & easy. There were no hidden costs, no over-runs, not even a suggestion of the extra work he did.

This was a good experience for me. Joel and his helper, Steve, were at my house for almost 9 weeks. They were polite, professional, and just plain nice to be around. they cleaned up the worksite each day, so you would never know my house was even being painted. Joel made an effort to point out problems as they came up, and we discussed how to deal with them. All my questions were always answered and I will certainly use his company again ...

I can only say one thing. Hire this guy and you won't be disappointed.

WAY beyond my expectations. The work looks fantastic, it was done exactly as promised, and was an excellent value. I would use JJ again in a heartbeat.

JJ (SwanWater Painting) did an absolutely fantastic, beautiful job painting both our interior bedrooms/bathrooms/ceilings and exterior porch/garage/shutters/vent. Before doing the job we sat down and had 2 color-consultations with him (no charge - he provides this service gratis) to help us decide on the final colors we wanted. We were extremely pleased with his knowledge and advise. He is also a professional artist. Once the job was scheduled and work began, he was prompt, attentive, careful and obviously knew his craft. We are extremely pleased with the completed project. We have already received a quote and will be using SwanWater Painting again at the beginning of next year for our living room/family room/dining room/kitchen/bathroom project. The painter was very thorough, detail oriented and stuck to his quote. I would recommend him to anybody. He is very fair and honest. I would use his services in the future too.

Very smoothly. My two college daughters were living in the house while it was painted, and they reported that J.J. and his crew were very polite and courteous at all times.

When he came out to give us estimates he took the time to sit down and talk to us about the color scheme I had picked out and then was willing to help color match our colors with the paint he recommended. JJ purchased the paint and went out when he needed more. Overall, we couldn't be any more happier with the work that JJ did for us! I will use him again in the future and would highly recommend JJ to any of my friends in the area as he is very professional, kind, trustworthy, and takes his time in making his work look EXCELLENT!!!!
