No problems. My only concern was that the new sink wouldn't fit in old counter opening. It didn't but he sawed it out to make it fit.
Description of Work: Installed kitchen sink and faucet, and supplied and installed new disposal. Very professional and reasonably priced. Only problem was responsiveness when they needed to schedule. The reschedule was understandable since our city is recovering from worst flood in years, but the communication could have been better.

Reading & Son Plumbing Inc. did the service for me last week. It cost $240.50 because my hot water heater was still under warranty. They were really good, they were great. They were super nice, they came out the first time and tried to fix it but then it went out again and they came out again and just replaced it. Both times they were really good. I didn't have any problems. They showed up when they said they were going to. I would use them again.

I found a pipe that was leaking (pinhole leak) on a Sunday morning. It was a copper pipe that was coming out of our water softener, so it was a highly-used pipe. I found Reading & Sons after quick searches on Google and Angie's List. After I called the weekend switchboard, a plumber called me about an hour later and said he had 1 other customer he had to go to first and then he would be out. About 2 hours later he arrived to repair the pipe. Very friendly guy, seemed like he knew what he was doing. He cut out the section of pipe that was leaking and replaced it with new pipe. No leaks since. Very pleased with the experience.

They did a marvelous job. Professional, fast and friendly - this was also the most cost efficient company we got estimates from.
Description of Work: We needed to have the water main shut off valve and hot water heater shut off moved in order to install a new washer and dryer in a small utility closet. Bids from other plumbing companies ran $300 or more over the estimate given by Reading. They arrived on time, were ready to go and had us up and ready for the delivery in just a few hours. I am recommending this company to everyone who asks about plumbing work. When I find a great contractor I keep them because they are so hard to find. This is a keeper.

My wife had been paying attention to the publicity being given to the Radon issue and asked me to look into it. I was not impressed with the issue at all. After all we have lived in the house for 35 years, raised 3 children to adulthood and had no health issues. I did get a Radon measurement and it ranged between 7.5 and 9 picocuries per litre. Under 4 is acceptable. So this wasn't a huge issue but I was about to remodel the basement anyway. I contacted Amy Miller the Mitigation Professional at Reading and Son Plumbing. for a quote and review of what needed to be done. She was very professional and efficient and in fact was available to answer questions as I had them through my remodeling as to how the Radon Mitigation work could fit in without being an eyesore in the remodeled area. Another concern I had was the Radon Fan noise. I had been told It was substantial. She assured me that it was a low hum and not loud at all. The workman showed up and completed the entire job in 6-8 hours. He explained all the components of the system to me and I don't hear the fan at all. I would certainly recommend Reading and Son Plumbing for this project if you need to have it done. The measured radon level now ranges between 1 and 1.6 according to a Radon detector I purchased.
Description of Work: Installation of an active Radon Mitigation System Drilled basement floor in two locations, placed one pipe near sump pump and the other on opposite side of basement and routed the vent to the side of the house and installed the fan on side of house with a fan guard and fan housing a few feet off the ground with a downspout vent over the eave of the roof. The sump pump was sealed and the lid included a view port. The electrical work was completed and a vacuum monitor was installed on main vent stack.

This is the second time I have used Reading Plumbing. I had a minor leak and needed a valve replaced. When the plumber came I wanted a suggestion as to how another plumbing problem could be taken care of. The plumber was very knowledgeable and gave a solution and an estimate. He had to come back at a later date with the supplies. He took care of both situations to my complete satisfaction and within $30.00 of his estimate

After having a bad experience with another plumbing company, that was recommended by a builder, we decided to turn to Angie's List. We purchased Moen bathroom hardware at Home Depot. We then contacted Reading Plumbing, who came out to do an estimate. The initial communication was a little slow (I have small children, so this aspect is always important to me), but once we got rolling, they stayed in contact very well. Bathroom was completed first. Plumber arrived promptly in the morning and did a fantastic job. The kitchen faucet had to be ordered. They stayed in contact with keeping us up to date on when the faucet was expected to arrive. Once it was in, they arrived very promptly in the morning. The plumber, Tony, was awesome with my very talkative 4 year old. Even when they had to come back to fix a problem with removing the R/O system, they were great. I even had Tony fix a leaking water faucet on our whirlpool tub while he was here. He took care of it in about 15 minutes!
Description of Work: -Bathroom faucets and shower fixtures were replaced. -Kitchen sink faucet R/O system was removed and new faucet with sprayer was installed.

We were treated very fairly and experienced great service.
Description of Work: We had a minor leak at the connection point where water comes into our house in our basement. Reading & Son Plumbing advised us over the phone on how to temporarily stop the leak so we didn't get charged a higher rate for having them come out on a weekend. The temporary fix worked perfectly and then Tony showed up at the scheduled time on the 12th and he was able to fix the problem in a short amount of time.

I called the company's answering service on Labor Day. I had no water into the house. The owner called me back almost immediately and asked a few questions about the problem. He suggested that since I had water at an outside spiket that I should wait until Wed so I wouldn't be charged overtime rates. This I really appreciated. The owner said he would call me back in the morning as soon as he knew what the work schedule was. He called at 8am and said that he was sending a plumber right out since I had no water in the house. The plumber was at the house in about 30 min. He worked steadily and had the problems fixed in 4 hours. That seams like a long time but nothing had been done with the house's plumbing in years. The plumber knew what to do and how to do it. He was courtous and professional. I am so pleased with this company that I recommended them to the trustees of my church to be considered for doing some major plumbing problems that are needing to be done.
Description of Work: The plumber found that I had extreme blockage in my supply line from the inlet valve to the water softener. He had to cut cut the line, blow the blockages out and solder the line back in place. When he was checking his work he noticed that there was a leak in a t joint. The joint was 50 years old (put in when the house was built) and broke off when he tried to removed it (the pipe was complete rusted out. He replace the joint and rechecked his work.

I would highly recommend Reading and Sons. Great job, great price, quick, clean, and great customer service.
Description of Work: Fantastic customer service. I called, Mike was at my house within an hour of me calling. We had a water leak and could have possibly cost us $2,000+ to get fixed. Mike did a great job at figuring out where the leak was on our property and saved us a lot of money. Instead of excavating our front lawn they were able to fix the leak through drilling into our basement. Quick and permanent fix. We were very grateful to receive the bill and only see $344:) This would have been gold mine job for a not so reputable plumbing company. The did great job, great price, cleaned up after themselves, and very nice to work with. Thanks again!

It was a great experience. Please read the above. If you are ever in a jam Likee and are scared of who to call...call these guys First! They are the best!!!
Description of Work: These guys are awesome! They came out to fix what I thought was a clogged sink in our kitchen. Unfortunately it was more than that. I had poured Drano down it and even replaced the "J" pipe. But the sink was still clogged They took a look at my sink and then went downstairs to take a closer look in the basement. The pipe was reply old and bad! It was black and the kind that rusts really bad! So he gave me an estimate to replumb it as cheep as possible. Quote was $310. He said it was easier to fix than he estimated. So my bill was only $270!!!! He was so kind and so easy to talk to. He explained everything so I could understand it! I will call them again if I ever have any problems and I recommend them to EVERYONE! When you are scared...call these guys first!!!

A previous owner of our home installed a basement bathroom. The plumbing work for that installation required cutting through the basement floor to install two branches to the existing plumbing. In one spot a cast iron pipe had been cracked but left in place eventually collapsing causing a disconnection for that branch. In the other branch, a Y was installed. But the plumber reduced the 4 inch line down to 3 inch in a tight bend. The result is that another clog formed in that branch that could not be routed because the cutter head would hit the 3 inch reducer in the tight bend, blocking the snake from reaching the clog.Work entailed digging 3 separate holes in the concrete basement floor to access all lines that needed repair. I took about three weeks to get it all done. But the most critical clog that prevented all drainage to the main sewer in the street was addressed first so that plumbing on the 1st and 2nd floors of our house was functional. That work was completed in just a couple of days. The other work got all the basement plumbing working. This was completed over a much longer period due to lesser urgency. Evidently, these guys are very busy. So, don't expect rapid response for non-critical plumbing problems. It was rare that they arrived at scheduled times, but once they were on-site, it was all business until the job was completed. The work was done right. They always discussed things before they did something and explained what they were doing and why.

I've had a difficult to diagnose problem with sewer smells from my sump in the basement. Several plumbers came & were unable to help, Jim (the owner of Reading & Sons) visited quickly and diagnose the issue within 15 minutes. He came across as a very knowledgeable & professional plumber. I was so impressed I asked for additional work to be performed... they attended promptly, address the issues in the quotation.... final costs came in bang on where they expected (despite a few bits of unplanned work).... they cleaned up and left the basement i a clean & tidy condition. Very impressed will use them again. Quote & costs very reasonable.

I called around 10 am requesting a plumber, the receptionist stated that they had one in the area who could be there before noon. A while later I received a call that the plumber was on his way. The plumber was very pleasant, we had a nice conversation while he worked, and was very professional. He didn't waste time on the job and tested it to make sure there were no leaks before he left. He also checked a toilet that was leaking to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it. I hadn't requested that service over the phone, but it was nice to have a pro's opinion.

The owner of the company, Jim Reading, came out to give us an estimate several days after we called. He was very knowledgeable and gave the impression that he wanted to do a good job for us. We thought that his estimate was fair. Jim supervised the whole job. He made sure that the work was done right, and that they cleaned up their mess every night. His staff were very professional and hard workers. They also gave the impression that they wanted to do a good job for us. Jim and all of his staff were very congenial and willing to answer any of our questions. It was a pleasure to do business with them.
Description of Work: We had sewer backflow problems and could not get the sewer company to do anything to solve the problem. They had to re-plumb part of our house, put a tank in our basement floor, and install a sewer pump. We no longer have to be concerned about sewer backflow, and even if the electricity goes out, we can still use one bathroom and the kitchen facilities.

We wanted to have a small kitchen (hot/cold water and drain) in our basement. Reading had to drill through a brick wall to feed the hot/cold and drain. They attached the drain and put in the hold/cold supplies. All we had to do was connect them to the faucet when we where ready. Showed up on time, professional, was fair priced, patched the wall where needed, and cleaned up after themselves. We just hooked everything up this past weekend and it all worked just like it was supposed to.

I was very impressed with the service provided and the willingness of Brad to explain to me what he was going to do.
Description of Work: Our water heater went out on a Sunday morning. We called Whirlpool first for a part. Called Reading and they were willing to come out ASAP although I would have to buy the parts first as they don't carry whirlpool products or parts. They told me they wouldn't charge me for the initial visit since the part wasn't in yet. Came out the next day (after the part was in and I had to buy a second part). Charged me for 1.5 service calls. Not a big deal really, just wasn't ready for it. All in all, good service and I plan on calling them again in the near future.

Plumber showed up on time, and immediately went to work. He had all the necessary parts to complete the job in his truck. The entire job took about 4 - 5 hours. He was thorough and cleaned up after himself. I am probably a bit biased on the price, but I still think it was fair for the work performed.

The handle on the hot water control valve fell off as my wife was completing her shower. I determined quickly by looking at it that this was no DIY quickie job due to the nature of a broken adapter on the valve. Besides it was Thursday afternoon before the beginning of the July 4th Holiday weekend and time was wasting with house guests coming . I called Reading & Son Plumbing, explained the situation and was told that they would call back the next morning as soon as they knew what their work schedule looked like. The call came in as promised and Tony arrived in about 30 minutes. He soon determined the model of the faucet and left to pick up a new adapter at their shop (which is close by). Returning in about 15 minutes the faucet was repaired and in service soon after. Tony was prompt, efficient, and very knowledgeable as was the office personnel in scheduling. I feel the price was fair and totally in line with what I would expect to pay for the response and quality of work I received. I feel good about our choice of a new plumber and have placed Reading & Son Plumbing in our emergency contact list!
