Went well, company was very responsive. They did exactly what I asked them to do. I knew what was needed since this is a recurring issue with tree roots.

Great. Fast and prompt and cleaned up well after themselves. Courteous.

They came and performed the task at hand. However, we had a drain backup the day after this occurred. I called Reading and Sons in the early morning hours to ask them what to do and a rude man answered, telling me that I would have to pay for emergency service, which was over $200 per hour. I told him this was ridiculous since this drain backed up almost immediately after we had Reading and Sons clear our pipe. He actually hung up the phone on me when I tried to explain what happened and that I needed someone to come and help me. I eventually called the city, and a guy came out to make sure it wasn't on the city end. He said that it was probably a root back up and that we needed to clear them out. This was after we had just paid Reading and Son to do this. Eventually, I called Roto Rooter, they came out, and cleared the rest of the pipe. They said that Reading and Son hadn't gone far enough into the pipe and it was stopped up. I contacted the BBB concerning this matter because it cost us more money to get Roto Rooter out to help, but the Reading and Son manager said he contacted Roto Rooter and the Roto Rooter guy denied saying that there were more roots. I guess they were friends. This was years ago, and their service might have improved. I will never know, however, since I will never use them again.

Called on Thursday when the pipe started leaking badly. They came out on Friday and fixed it. While here, we asked about getting an outside faucet installed. He didn't have the equipment he needed so thought he'd have to reschedule. When he called the office, they said that there was time to do it, so he went to retrieve the drill he needed and we got everything done in one day. Very courteous and professional.

They can an hour after I called. I was shocked at how quick the came. They fixed every thing and did it quick and were friendly. I will recommend them to everyone.

Reading and Son Plumbing very quickly contacted me on my inquiry about getting some service done. Once we were in contact they worked well to schedule service that worked with my schedule. The day of the service they showed up on time and got to work as soon as I showed them what I wanted done. Their communications were clear and they quickly got done exactly what I asked. The only thing I am still waiting on is the bill and that is why the review currently sits with the price as N/A. Based on the conversation with the plumber the price seems like it will be reasonable.

Showed up on time and went right to work. Diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately. When the job got messy, they cleaned up after themselves and left my basement looking almost better than they found it.

It went very well. No concerns after the install. I would work with them again in the future.

They seem to do good work, but they were HORRIBLE at communication. We waited for more than a month for them to start our job, all the while being assured every Friday afternoon that come Monday morning, they would be there and "camp out" until the job was done. Never happened. They were start and stop the whole time on the job. We lived for almost three weeks with no hot water and leaky fixtures in the old farm house we had just closed on waiting for them to show up. Finally they installed the water heater, but it was at least another two weeks before they were back to do anything else. Then when we asked them to do something else minor on the job (I think it was kitchen sink installation), they just stopped working for over a week on EVERYTHING until we called and complained no one was showing up. They ended up moving a toilet for free for us because they were so sporadic on showing up. Also, there was some confusion on what exactly was covered in the bid. We thought that drywall of our entire bathroom was covered, but it was not. After we had torn out all the drywall, Jim Reading told us it was going to be another $1200 to install it. In the bid, drywall was covered, but it turned out that it was only covered for certain parts of the bathroom. On our other bathroom, they didn't actually end up having to remove all the drywall and plaster they originally thought they would, but we didn't get any break in price for less work that was done. They showed up with the wrong mastic products for our tile, which had been in the same room with them for weeks. They tracked drywall mud onto our brand new carpets. They promised us the world but did not deliver. We were obligated to use them because the work was tied up in our home loan, but if I could have, I would have switched plumbers.

I bought a dishwasher. The third party installer told me he needed to do all of this work in order to bring the plumbing up to code and guarantee the warranty on the dishwasher. He said a plumber would have to come out first to cap off a pipe, and put in a valve, and remove a drain... Reading and Sons came out, looked at my plumbing, told me none of the work the installer wanted them to do really needed to be done. Our plumbing is up to code. They just replaced 1 one frozen valve, and saved us a tone of money.

I only gave them a B for punctuality as they were late, however we had just has a snow storm the night before so that caused a delay. They were extremely professional and very knowledgeable. They gave us some great advice on how to prevent future back ups and provided us with additional information to fix our sewer problem. We were extremely happy with this service, and will always call them first in the future. A+ service!!

excellent service by all of their plumbers. Tony usually comes to our place. been using reading plumbing for many years. I also used them at my place of employment for years.

The price was reasonable. They were great. The price was fair. I can a get a cheaper price but I like the quality of their work.

It went great. He was very quick and did very good work. Started with the toilet. Removed that, put a seal on the drain and caulked it. Next he took the plumbing out of one wall and ran it over to where the washing machine would be. *At this time I was doing some demo in the adjoining room, removing some drywall and trim. As I was pulling trim off, i heard a leak. looked down... previous owners had nailed trim right into the copper at the floor level. *SIGH* I suppose if you're going to have that happen, it's best to have a plumber on hand. He switched gears, went and got some tools, drained the line, and had it fixed within about 10 minutes. I was thrilled. It was in a hard to reach spot just at floor level between the joists, but he made it look easy. After that, he finished installing the washer hook ups and was done. He was friendly and courteous and I have used them again since then to help me re-run some gas line. I will definitely use them in the future as well. Highly recommended.

Went terrible. a) Called Reading and Son on 8/11/14. Asked if they could come out that day. He said no promises but would try. Received call in afternoon saying they had an emergency and could not come out. He said he could definitely come on Tuesday in afternoon between 1 pm and 2 pm. b) I called Reading and Son at 12:50 pm to confirm plumber would be here at 1:30 pm. I was told yes. At 2:20 pm no one had shown up. I spoke to Amy and she said plumbers were running behind on jobs. I told her no one called me to tell me no one was going to show up. She said that person was busy ordering parts and that's why I didn't hear back. Amy said someone could be there on Wednesday. I said can you guarantee that? She advised yes, someone would definitely be there at 9 am on Wed. c) At 9:15 am, Wed. Aug 13th, no one had shown up. Once again I called Amy and she thought the plumber should have been there. She tried to call him but couldn't get in touch with him. She then said she told me that the plumber would be there between 9 and 10 am. I advised that she guaranteed that a plumber would be at my house at 9 am. She did apologize for the mixup but I've been waiting for a plumber for 3 days. d) To the reader, can you imagine taking 2 days off from work and then not having someone show up as promised? My wife is unable to use our dishwasher, we have water coming into our basement, and now we must take more time out of our day to find another plumber. I am very serious about the reviews I give. I don't give an "F" lightly but I can not recommend this plumber.

The overall install went well. They knew what they were doing and did everything as I requested. There were only small issues that I went back and fixed myself, such as the discharge line from the house slightly missing the discharge line buried in the ground, shooting water everywhere. A quick trip to the hardware store and a couple of cheap fittings and that was that. They were right where I wanted to be price-wise, and also right on target with their estimate. Everyone else that came in tried to sell me things I didn't want. As for quality, time will tell. I don't expect any major issues though. As I said, there were small thing I addressed myself but I'm sure they would have had no problem coming back out to correct them had I asked. Responsiveness and punctuality is not their strong suit. They were late for the estimate appointment, and for the appointment to start the work. This did make me wary of my choice in them. It was also difficult to get them on the phone for scheduling. Turns out they had a lot of jobs and just weren't sure of when to even attempt to schedule the job for. No big deal. I understand that. But a call to let me know that would have been appreciated. They were very professional and considerate of our needs and concerns. They used cloths to cover the area around the work area to keep everything clean. The pump has kicked on a few times but no really big rains to put it to the test. I'll update with any further praises or problems when that time comes.

I've been here for 35 years and spent a lot of money on Draino type products. The sink now drains better than it ever did.

They were awesome because they actually figured out the issue. It was a complicated thing with water being discharged from our water softener into a drain. It would back up and then flood part of the basement. Then by the time the morning would come around, the floor would be dry. It looked like it was coming up from the middle of the floor, and instead of giving up and leaving, he figured it out. And then it was just rooting out the drain line. But I thought it was coming from the ceiling, I thought it was a crack in the floor and we needed a sump pump. And he thought all those same things too, but then he went through it all and got out back at the water softener and figured it out.

They did a good job. I was impressed because when I called them, they were able to show up at once. Overall, they have an A.

When it rains, it pours... Everything seemed to break on us in a matter of a few days. When I finally broke down and called them I was completely frustrated and overwhelmed. They came out and gave us estimates on everything, fixed a couple things right there and then scheduled a future appt to come back for some others. They suggested ways that I could save money (which I really appreciated). I have used them in the past also, they are great!

From start to finish, they were a professional company to work with. The receptionist was friendly and easy to get a hold of. Jim came and provided an estimate to replace water supply lines to a bathroom from copper to pex. He was very knowledgable and took his time speaking with me. Brad came and replaced the lines. Very pleased with his work!

Brad and Mason worked in our house for several days, on a massive removal and replacement of the plumbing backbone in our 1922 craftsman house. They listened to what I wanted done, talked to me during the whole project, and engaged me whenever they had questions. Their work is neat, professional, and meant to last. They were attentive to only shutting off the power and gas as little as required, and kept me in the loop on everything they found as they went (there is always plenty to discover in a house this old.) They are among the best plumbers I have ever worked with. Highly recommended.

Called on the weekend and left a message explaining my need and that it was not an emergency. Received call back Monday morning. Was offered an appointment the same day but scheduled for later in the week. He arrived on time...was professional and courteous. Left the area clean. The new disposal works well.

they came out the next day and took care of the problem in short work. A tad pricey for the time, but there were two workers and they used the big machine. When I asked if this should be a regular service call as the problem was roots, he said to just use root cleaner in the system so I wouldn't have to call them back next year.
