Description of Work: We requested a quote that took a few times of rescheduling to get a guy to the house. Then it took several calls the next week to get a written quote to be told it would take another month or longer to be scheduled for work. They have performed work for us in the past with no issues so we were a little shocked in the delays and changes with Reading.

+ 1 moreMy frontyard top soil was getting eroded for over an year. I didn't know the reason until one day (it was a Friday) I found that the sewer pipe got blocked and a toilet flush led to overflow. I immediately checked Angie's List and called Reading & Son Plumbing. They promptly sent a person who came for inspection and said soil & gravel from frontyard got inside the pipe from breakage and blocked it. He used a machine to clear up the pipe but there was a lot more soil & gravel stuck deep inside the broken sewer pipe. He said they need to excavate the frontyard to eventually replace the pipe with a new one. They also came on the Saturday and all the work took 6 hours of labor to complete. They did excellent work and it is now about 1 year afterwards and I didn't have any problems whatsoever with the sewer line after that day.
Description of Work: The services performed by Reading & Son Plumbing were - (1) Clearing up the sewer lines, (2) Excavating the frontyard, (3) Replacing the broken sewer pipe with a new one, and (4) Refilling the pit with topsoil. The overall job took 6 hours of labor.

+ -1 moreExperience was excellent. Tony was a great guy. He explained everything and answered all my questions. He was prompt and fast. He could have taken me for a new sump pump and ripped my ceiling apart to find a leak and I would have not known any better but he did not. I would definitely use Reading again and recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: My Sump pump was making a strange sound and I thought it had quit working and needed to be replaced. Tony came, inspected it and determined the line it ejects to was frozen and the pump was trying to drain but could not. That was the strange sound. He was able to close that line and open an auxillary. He then added an extension pipe to the auxillary so it would drain away from the house. I also had an experience with a leak from my whirlpool tub which leaked heavily from my can lights in my kitchen below. He looked at it and the first question he asked was if anyone had used the tub and gotten water out of the tub that could possible have drained into a crack in the grout. And yes, my nephews used it on that day and they always get more water out of the tub than in it. He told me to try it out without getting the water outside the tub and see if it occurs again and if it does to call him.

+ -1 moreThe company that did the original radon abatement on the house attached the vent stack with zip ties. These failed in high winds and that company is no longer in business. Reading & Sons came out, salvaged what they could of the original stack and reinstalled the radon stack. During installation of the stack they informed us there was no sheathing under the aluminum siding to attach the stack to. We had bracing installed in the attic and Reading & Sons came back out to firmly anchor the stack to the new bracing. I wish they had done the original radon abatement! They were prompt and professional.
Description of Work: The radon vent stack came down in high winds. Reading and Sons repaired and replaced a 35 ft stack on the side of the house.

Mike Reading called @ 7:30 AM the following day. Tony arrived @11:00 AM that morning. Job finished @ 12:15 PM. Excellent response, excellent service and cost was less than expected. Very professional firm. Will recommend to anyone who needs there services.

+ -1 moreIt went great. We were attempting to place the hose spiggot (sp?) because we had forgotten to take the hose off last winter. In the end we found out there was another leak that we didnt know about and we didn't have the correct equipment to cut the pipes and everything. We called around 8 on a Friday night and he was there around 9:40 the same night. He was able to come in and fix everything in under an hour and was very courteous and professional.

Description of Work: Although my plumbing work was minor, if I had of chosen another plumbing, they would have ripped me off. Tony was very sweet, prompt, and professional. Make sure you request Tony. I had Tony remove my garbage disposal and connect to main drain and replace a toilet's flapper and stopper. I am so glad I used Reading, and I will definitely be using them from now on.

+ -1 moreI was having a de-watering system installed in my basement, which required me to remove bathroom fixtures and a wall in preparation for the job. The water pipe leading to the toilet was cut away from the floor to allow room for the work to be done. In repairing the water pipe, I couldn't get the water completely out of the pipe so I couldn't sweat the pipe fitting. I instead used a compression couple. I seemed to work, until that night when the couple failed. I called Reading the next morning to get the plumbing repaired correctly. The service person was prompt, very professional, and friendly. He told me what he was doing and why he was doing it. I am very pleased with Reading and will not only use them again, but will recommend them to my friends.
