A&M Professional Refinishing

We were very pleased with the work done by A&M. We purchsed a deal through Angies list. when the gentleman arrived, he did try to up-sell us and add another service. We chose not to add it on. He was very professional, he did a great job preparing everything and keeping the mess contained. They took our old pea-green tub and turned it a lovely white. It looks virtually brand new. The job was not perfect. There are a few drips on the inside edge of the tub and one or two specs, but we are very pleased overall with the work that was done, the professionalism of the gentleman who did it and our tub looks virtually brand new for a fraction of the price of replacing the tub.

He showed up a day later than our scheduled appointment. He claimed he called the day before to adjust our appointment time but I never received a call. The original cost was $312, but he told me there would be an additional charge of $125. I told him that would not work for me. I canceled the service on the 18th of December. He said he would call Angie's List right away to let them know the service was cancelled. I have yet to receive a refund.

So I called the bathtub refinishing-I asked him to submit insurance certification for my condo association. He said he would submitted it. The night before he was supposed to come I called to make sure that everything was on. But he told me no, that he didn't have the insurance certification to submit. So I got it and I sent it to him directly. I tried to schedule a date with him through email and via phone calls. He has never called, emailed or even submitted the insurance certification. At this point I do not want to work with the company and want a refund. He is not proactive, very unprofessional and uncooperative.

It turned out OK. There were a lot of add-ons to the price. Scheduling and communication were both easy with them.

It turned out wonderfully. The technician was wonderful. In fact, there was a little spot that came off with the tape and there was a pop mark or indentation and I called them back. They came back right away and corrected that and then they simonized the whole tub for me and shined it up.

It turned out wonderful. On the date that he said he would be here, he was here on time. He did a wonderful job. He was a very hard worker. We were very pleased with what he did. There were extra charges. Our bathtub was in bad shape. It needed more work. He spent the entire day here. He spent from probably nine in the morning until about five at night. So we were happy to just pay him to do more work. It needed to be sanded a lot. We asked him to do more. His hard work stood out to me and my husband. He does the job until it's finished the right way. The price was fair for the work that he did.

I will give him a good rating because I think he did a good job with refinishing the bathtub. It is for a rental unit that I have and it?s not my own personal bathtub. So I don?t what to say how it is now but it looked good when I rented the apartment out. It seems that they are efficient. I bought the coupon then I called them up, they came out and they did the job which makes them efficient. My review is not accurate because I don?t know what to say what the tub is now like since it is for a rental apartment but it looked when I made if for the apartment. I think the price was good since I got a deal from the coupon. They did a good job. I think I will use them again, I don?t see why not.

First, the technician, Jake, was punctual. He called fifteen minutes prior to his arrival to let me know of his estimated arrival time. When he arrived, he inspected the job and explained in detail the procedure, the options that were available to me and their costs. Also, he was very clear in his explanation of additional charges, for example, the travel distance from zip code 60462 and for the extra length of my tub. I was very heartened by the fact that, although I had placed an order to strip the tub, he didn't feel it was necessary. That would have been an additional one hundred dollar charge. He thoroughly answered my questions and at no time did I feel I was being up-sold or pressured to buy additional features of the offer. The job took approximately five hours. Jake's work was very professional. He did not intrude on my activities in any way. I was made aware of anything that required my attention or a decision. Otherwise, I was able to go about my day with minimum intrusion. On completion, I was thoroughly impressed with the final product. The refinished vintage tub reaffirmed my decision to retain it during remodeling. I'm very happy with my "new' bathtub Jake provided and explained care instructions and patiently answered my questions. I felt thoroughly supported throughout the whole process. They arrived on time and worked quickly. Finished products came out good. There was some peeling where the area was masked off which has yet to be fixed and a few tiny spots that pealed off but they are really small you can barely see hem. I contacted them the same day about the masked area and they said to use the tub to see if more repairs were made. I have yet to call them back since it has a year warranty. There were also some spots where "dust" got under the paint causing bumps. They said it was stuff I missed while cleaning the area. Yes I had to prep the area. but they made some repairs to the tub which meant sanding was done so I'm not sure how it was entirely on me. Overall the tub looks good and has held up well.

Had a lot of dust/debris remaining on the surface and mentioned this the Andre. This may be a normal result of the process and Andre was willing to come out and buff out, but instead we just purchased the necessary wax and sandpaper to complete the work. Overall, was very satisfied with the outcome.

The guy was really nice, very conscientious, and always showed up. He came out to look and the job and let me know they could do the work. He helped me figure out what the problem was and why certain things were happening. We discovered that I was using the wrong type of cleaner and what type of cleaner was safe to use. They were very good. The only problems I really had was that as they were leaving on the last day, they mentioned that I would need to caulk one end of the tub. I was surprised that this wasn't included in the service and also wished they had let me know sooner since it's not something I can do myself. I was concerned about it causing problems. I have also noticed that the metal ring around the tub drain is a little rough. the tub is 100% better than what it was before the work though.

I am not going to rent out the apt so I no longer need the work done.

Andres was extremely knowledgable, professional, friendly and accommodating. He worked very hard and I would most defiantly recommend him .

I got the Angie's List coupon that I was happy about it. I corresponded with the company via Angie's List and found a good date. My sister agreed to take off a day from work and wait for the serviceman to arrive and work on the tub. I was out of town at the time, and the day before the appointment, I knew that someone would call me to make sure someone would be home. I got the call, but I didn't get to the phone right away, and I called the number back right away--literally 30 seconds later. No one answered. I left a message, and stated that everything was set up and my sister expected him. The next day, my sister called me at noon and said that no one had ever shown up. I called the same number, and Jake answered. He said I never called him back. I explained I had. He said I hadn't or he had missed my message. I asked him to go to our house right then because my sister was there waiting. He said it was too late in the day and we lived too far away from where he was. I was very, very upset. He was defensive. He told me he had to check his messages to see if he ever received a message from me and that we would have arrange another time. We hung up. I immediately received an email from A&M Professional Refinishing apologizing for the misunderstanding. I was very impressed with the tone and the timeliness of the message. We re-scheduled the appointment. I was still skeptical that everything would turn out fine as far as the serviceman's arrival. I watched the phone the day before very carefully. I sent one or two emails stating that my husband had taken off work and he would be there. Jake arrived, and my husband said he was very professional. He stripped and re-finished the tub. It has now been almost two months, and it still looks great. In the summer of 2012 or 2013 we had a disastorous experience with Finishing Touch, in which the tub peeled after a week. They came back three or four times, and the tub constantly peeled quickly and terribly. I decided to give A&M a try because of the deal on Angie's List. I am very satified with the work at this time. A rocky start but a happy ending.

My wife was here during the work and things seemed okay but when I checked the finished bath it did not have a smooth surface like the older refinishing. It was quite rippled and there were two patches of overspray on our ceramic tiles where they hadn't been masked properly. We left the bath for 48 hours to dry thoroughly and today I used painters tape to mask the bath prior to recaulking. When I removed the tape the new finish came off with it. This was a total waste of $500.

The whole process took about 3.5 hours. They did a good job and we're happy with the results.

Called the evening before and asked us to cover the mirrors with paper (impossible by that time). Arrived and instead of (as the coupon promised) refinishing the bathtub so that it looks like new, they tried to upsell extra services. I mean, if the bathtub was new we wouldnt need to get it refinished, would we? In the end, the bathtub feels quite rough to the touch, there appear to be a lot of surface imperfections. Including a lot of them that seem related to just dust and unrelated to the underlying bath tub. Also, they removed the caulk but didnt replace it. You get what you pay for and A&M are cheap but not good.

I had no problem with A & M - they contacted me promptly and set up an appointment to refinish the tub. I realized later that I'd purchased the wrong coupon since I wanted the synthetic porcelain finish with the longer warranty at the higher price from Electro Bond Refinishing.

My bathtub was the original from when the house was built in 1954 - over time the porcelain wears away and it becomes stained and virtually impossible to clean. Jake from A&M Refinishing came in and first scraped what he could with a razor blade and then sanded it down to get all the old stains off. He then sprayed the tub with his product which is a polyurethane, several coats and it looks amazing. It looks like I got a brand new tub put in all for just $279. This is an amazing service, I would highly recommend doing this if you need your bathtub refinished. After 4-6 hours I opened up the window in the bathroom and set a fan up blowing into the bathroom. After 24 hours the smell had virtually dissipated.

The provider, Andre, arrived a little after 10 am on the morning of the scheduled work. He asked me to select a finish color and explained what he had as it compared to the color of the other fixtures in the bathroom. He hung plastic over the bathroom door and set up equipment that would vent the room to the outside. In addition to the $279 deal, I opted to pay for a second primer coat and for the leaking faucet kit, which helped keep the water from dripping and damaging the work in progress. When he was done, he explained to me what he had done such as the number of patches he had done. He explained how the tub should be cleaned to protect the finish. He removed everything that he had set up and did a fine job cleaning up. He finished the job around 4 pm, which was longer than I expected (I had been told to expect about half a day) but this was not an issue. The smell of the chemical was fairly strong. I kept the bathroom door shut to keep it from spreading through the house, but then the bathroom didn't seem to air out. Once I kept the bathroom door open starting the next morning, the smell dissipated by the end of the day or so.

The worker showed up on time, was very informative, and did a great job. Would definitely use them again.

I expected to hear from the company to get it scheduled in the near future and they said they wouldn't be able to do it in the afternoon when I asked for it to be done. I had a difficult time getting in touch with the company, as their voicemail was full many times when I called. I wouldn't recommend the company based on our interactions.
