A&M Professional Refinishing

It went quite well. They arrived on time and finished when they said they would.

It took about 5 to 6 hrs for him to complete the job. He was very professional and explained proper care for the tub once we put it in use. he told me we could use the tub after about 3 t0 4 or 5 hrs later and to score the masking before removing w/blade or sharp tool which was no problem for me to do.. To be on the safe side allowing for the tub finish to dry completely I waited til morning to score and remove masking and that's when I discovered issues w/the job. In my opinion it was not a good masking job. after I removed the masking I discovered paint was on grout and floor that caused the edges around the tub to look very very tacky - not straight along the 3 walls, side and floor, also the paint peeled in a couple spots. I took pictures of the problem, emailed them to him and called Andre to complain. He suggested that maybe I contact Angieslist to set up a return visit and I told him that my contacting him should be sufficient and he agreed so I thought. I asked if I should use tub and he said it was ok to do so just in case any other issues come up. So I purchased a shower curtain rod and liner for temporary use due to not wanting to have to reinstall and once again take down my glass shower doors for him to correct the tacky looking finish around the top and bottom of tub. Here I am 6 days later and haven't heard back from him so I decided to write this review in hopes of hearing back from him due to this review. He did not give me an approx. return date so I have no clue when and/or if he will return.. I will attempt to contact him again tomorrow. My opinion is that after spending $400 for a job that has defects does deserve a better response because I have no Idea if I can reinstall my shower doors w/tacky finishing touches!!

the finish on the tub has particles in it. I asked why there were bumps all over and he said "it must be dust". This is not acceptable. There is an area he missed and another area where the paint is chipping. I have sent a message to A & M for Andre to come back out and touch up. I am not very confident in the longevity of this refinish, but that we will only know in time.

Andre was extremely nice over the phone, and made things easy by accepting photos via email in order to give a quote. It took him a few days, but he did get back to me with the quote, though it was the highest one, so I went with another provider.

It looks great. They called ahead with instructions of what should be done before they arrived. Once Andre arrived he explained futher what to expect. After he completed the job he answered questions and made sure I knew how to care for the the tub.

He said he couldn't get out until the middle of April. Also he only offers a 1 year warranty when normally they would offer a 5 year warranty since it's a discounted service. Therefore I've decided to cancel the deal.

Very pleased with the service and the end product. I contemplated a DIY kit for months and am so glad I opted not to do that in the end. It was worth the extra money and saved hours. The gentleman that came was very efficient and careful and also prepared...especially since he was unaware that we had a leaky faucet issue. It's been over a year and the tub still looks like it was freshly refinished. Great work

Andre and a crew member arrived on time and began a refinish on my bathtub. There was a tremendous amount of prep work and Andre was extremely diligent. He did an excellent job covering everything and putting up plastic to keep the dust down. When he was finished he spent the time to give me next steps and proper care guidelines. All in all, he did a great job and I am extremely happy with the result. I would recommend his service.

It was fine. He did what we asked. There was no extra. He was here for half a day. We had to do the caulking after it was done. We thought he would come back. The price waas great. We liked the tub.

The end result is awesome! I can't believe that the bathtub that I have is actually a 45+ year old bathtub - it looks brand new. The process to refinish the tub took hours but the end result is worth it. I received instructions the night before for the pre-work that was needed for me to do. By the look of the bathroom after the job was completed, you would never had known that all of that equipment was in the bathroom. I only had to remove the tape after the tub dried, re-caulk and wipe down a few area's. There wasn't much for me to do after Andre finished with the tub. I showed my friends the before and after pic's and it's amazing. Andre was professional, thorough, and informative. Great job!

A&M did an amazing job! I couldn't believe the results-- it didn't look at all like the same bath tub! I was amazing with the results that we got for the price paid. They patched some scuffed areas of the tub for free and even gave us a new home owner discount. Overall, I would definitely recommend A&M to others and have already done so. Very professional... Only slight marks off for arriving a little late aut they stayed beyond normal business hours to finish up the job.

They did a pretty good job. The floor was in pretty rough shape. It looks really nice. I should have done it sooner. I had a Big Deal and I had to spend extra. We went back and forth if they did Parquet floors. They came in and knew exactly what needed to be done. He explained the different types of finishes for the floor. I had just wanted to do polyurethane on the floor. I wanted it to be a little shinier. He did what I wanted him to do. He covered everything. The floor looks great. They came from a far distance. They didn't expect to come that far south. They were very professional. It was great that I could email the wife.

The service turned out just fine. There were extra charges on top of the $279 Big Deal cost because we did some patching up on some stuff and it cost me extra. I paid an additional like $145. He came out probably two or three weeks after I purchased the Big Deal. He said that he would be out on a certain day and he did show up. He did the work and cleaned up his mess. The work he did was good.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal for a tub refinishing. Andre was extremely polite and punctual. He gave me options throughout our appointment to make the refinishing better/more effective, but didn't pressure me into any of those decisions. Even though our tub was a tougher case than what the Big Deal covered, Andre was able to complete the work in one day, and he left our home spotless and tub like new. We are very pleased with the results and would recommend A&M to anyone considering resurfacing their tub! Thanks, Andre!

It was great. They were wonderful and did a great job. I didn't use them until December because I'd had some tile work done prior to them coming. I didn't pay more than the Big Deal price. They were clean. With refinishing there is obvioulsy smell with the product that they use but they did a great job fanning out the area so the house didn't smell. They were kind, on time and called before.

The provider arrived on time and was friendly, courteous, and professional. The difference in the appearance of the 30+ year old tub after the work is amazing. A&M was able to transform the tub from dark brown to white. It looks new! Only two tiny pits emerged a few days later that will have to be repaired, but we were told to expect that to occur. We were offered a special treatment to the glaze for an additional $100 which we added. Provider took time to explain after-care and maintenance required following application. Unfortunately, we are disappointed that the provider did not remove the dusty tarp, paper wall protection, or chemical smelling trash or wall coverings from the property, or replace the shower head in the tub. (Epoxy is considered hazardous and requires drop off at a special center.) Meanwhile, the smelly trash sits outside our garage in a trash can until we can properly dispose of it ourselves.) Apparently, this wasn't included in the Angie's special deal--but we'd gladly have paid extra to have it removed--had it been offered as an option. We were never asked. Overall, we got what we paid for.

Excellent. Andre arrived on time and worked very hard without stopping, even as we continued to offer food and drink. He was very professional and pleasant, with excellent communication skills. He put in a long day and the results were quite good. Andre offered one extra service, which we added, as we thought it provided good value for the price. At the end he explained everything about cleaning the bathtub surface and how long to wait to clean and use the tub. He also provided this information in writing, which is helpful to refer to. Andre also gave us brochures for refinishing other surfaces. If we decide not to remodel our kitchen, we will probably have Andre refinish the kitchen counters. We definitely recommend him and would hire him again.

An appointment was scheduled to do the work in a timely fashion. I was called with instructions prior the service as I was told would happen. The provider came on time and the work was performed in a professional manner. Andre was polite, professional and knowledgeable ... and a very, very hard worker. He worked for many hours to prepare the tub for refinishing and did all possible to contain the inevitable dust generated by the procedure. FYI, the actual chemical refinishing has a very strong smell, but dissipated within a few hours with the windows open and ceiling fans on. In that the bathtub is quite old (like ~100 years) and much of the porcelain has been removed by years of cleaning, I am pleased with the appearance of the tub. Andre repaired numerous chips and dings without additional cost although the contract stated that more than three would be extra. In addition Andre recommended an 2nd coat of high build primer to help even out the surface, which I elected to have done ($100). Although the surface is not perfectly smooth like a new tub I am satisfied that all was done to provide me with the best possible result considering the original condition of the tub. Andre was here about 6.5 hours - he took care with the work and did not cut corners from what I know. There are special instructions for care of the tub (verbal and written) and you will have to ask me down the road about the durability of the surface, etc. There is one year guarantee on the work. There is a travel fee if the work is more than 20 miles from Orland Park. The deal coupon stated that is would be $15 but I was charged $30 because of additional distance - a surprise to me but fair enough. The only unanticipated problem I encountered was that replacing the caulk between the bathtub and the wall ended up being my responsibility. I did not understand this would be the case and in that I am not handy, want the job done correctly, do not have time to take care of this myself, and have yet to find someone to come out to take care of this - I am a week out and still cannot use the tub/shower.

SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD, GETTING SCHEDULED WAS INITIALLY CONFUSING BUT ONCE DONE, WAS EXCEPTIONAL.

It turned out ok. It was easy to schedule. They came and did a good job, cleaned up after themselves.
