THE TREE GUY

In early June, we verbally accepted a written estimate for $2,000 to remove a large portion of a lightning damaged tree. After several missed appointments to do the work (to be fair mostly due to bad weather) and several phone calls, the work has not yet been done. We haven't heard from them for a couple of weeks and we are not calling them any further. And now some branches are starting to fall so it's becoming a safety issue. I suspect they underbid the job and are hoping we go away. I would not have held it against them if this were the case if they only would have been upfront about it. But the total lack of communication is inexcusable.

I called the night it happened, they called back within 20 minutes and came the next morning by 8am to give me a written estimate. The branch was gone by 2pm that day. It was easy and hassle-free.

Called for an estimate and Keith came out that very same day (Saturday). His price quote was in line and lower than other estimates and he was more personable than other professionals. Keith gave me a written estimate and indicated the dates in which he reasonably expected he could perform the work (weather permitting). I called to hire him a few days later. His crew came out as scheduled to complete the work, 2 separate days, both times they were there when stated. In observing the crew performing the work, they looked a little uncertain initially about how to take down the pine tree, but they quickly devised a plan. From that point on they took the tree down effectively and without damaging any surrounding fences or houses. They also did an excellent job in cleaning up all of the debris from the job site. I had read many good reviews about The Tree Guy and he did not disappoint me.

Gave a good estimate to remove debris left over from cutting four trees and numerous bushes and vines down, in preparation for a fence installation. Took everything away as promised. Would lhire them again without hesitation if the need arose.

Keith Mayes, the owner, came out with his crew within a couple days of accepting his bid. The job was done in three phases; first they took most of the tree down, then they took the last 8 or so feet of the trunk and did the trimming of the other trees, then they came out and ground the stump. I had some minor concerns--the fence was left open between the yards and I had to put up a block for the neighbor's dog, and while the clean up was good it wasn't as thorough as I might have liked--but overall they did a great job, and when I discussed the open fence with Keith he handled it very professionally. Working with my neighbor was very important to me, and they were excellent about listening to him and showing him the same respect they showed me.

He is reliable and his price is good. He is just terrific with his job.

He is awesome. He trimmed it back and he was really cool because it a huge tree. He came when he said he was going to come. He hauled everything away and he cleaned up the whole back yard. He was very professional and fare. He told us the condition of the tree because it was sick.

Keith was excellent. Not only did they have to scale a large tree but they did it in below zero temperatures. He discussed the job with me thoroughly before beginning. They cleaned up the area completely when finished and did not hit any of the parked cars with the branches. He was flexible enough to trim my neighbors tree the same day even though it was not pre-planned. I also thought that the price was excellent, as did my neighbor. We were both very satisfied. He provided estimates on future projects and I will not hesitate to call him for tree service again.

These guys were great! They called me back promptly, gave me a quote for the work on a Wednesday and said they could do the job on Thursday. I told them to go ahead with the project. When I got home on Thursday night, the work was complete. Besides the tree gone, I couldn't even tell they had been there. They did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves. Not a single branch was on the ground, nor a single pine needle from the tree they took down. They even gave me a courtesy call to ensure everything was done to my satisfaction. A great job overall!

Keith is very professional and met with me several times (at my request) before signing the contract. Since the tree was not accessible from the alley or street, his guys had to climb the tree in order to do the work. I am very impressed with their work.

It was okay, the communication was a little shotty. He cut the right tree down but he didn't check with me first. His pricing was very good, he was a really nice guy.

I liked that they had good communication and overall we were satisfied.

As usual, it went perfectly! Keith warned us that with the recent storms and more predicted, he might have to push back our job a little if another storm hit. Another storm did hit and he took care of the more urgent cases but got to us within 2 or 3 days of our target date. He was here to oversee the job and the clean up was flawless.

Keith and crew arrived as scheduled; in about an hour carefully took down and cleared away limbs without any property damage. He advised about future maintenance of the tree, including having staff check for emerald ash borer.

Went well. I asked to have some additional limbs trimmed which still overhung the lot and I was charged for the additional time. While I think it should have been part of the original quote since I had specified that I wanted the parking lot cleared of overhanging limbs, the overall price was still fair and they made sure I was satisfied.

Excellent job overall. Answered the call quickly, came out and estimated the job on the day they said they would. Came back and re-estimated when we added the tree work to the job. Showed up on the day of work when they said they would. Removed the ivy, removed the trees, trimmed the trees, etc. exactly as they said they would. The cleaned up the whole work site, re-set gutters they removed in order to do the work, were extremely polite and informative the entire time. When they quit on the first day of work they detailed when they would be back and came back at the appointed time to complete the job. All in all, I highly recommend this company... they were great.

Keith came out and gave me an estimate the same day I called. The next day he came back and did the work. It was a very positive experience.

Received call back, site visit, and estimate almost immediately. Price was reasonable for level of work to be performed. Once accepted, Tree Guy employees were able to come the same day and complete the job. The work was performed as requested and hauled away debris. Overall, it was a great job from a responsive company.

Everything went smoothly. They promptly delivered an estimate and began work when agreed. They cut down the trees and removed all the debris. Cleaned up the area.

Agreed to Tree Guy's estimate and tree was gone by the end of the week. I would have never known they were there if there wasn't a void in the back yard where the tree once stood. Cleanup was impeccable, no sign of stump. He stopped by for payment a few days later and I pointed out some branches in the side yard that I had cut down some time earlier. He removed them free of charge.

They were really reasonable with their prices. I didn t have any fuss with them at all. They were very reliable and they didn t cost as much as I expected. They got the job done in a timely manner as well so we could get our gutters done.

I was impressed with the Tree Guy Inc. I was able to call Keith and his company after a storm destroyed many trees around Oak Park. After calling the Tree Guy he came over within a couple of hours and helped me remove some large limbs from blocking the street and alley. He agreed to come back the next day with his crew to remove the tree debris from the yard. Because the tree in my yard was damaged and needed to be removed we agreed to have it removed at a later time, which he came back to do. Each time he has come out, he and his crew has been punctual and very professional. When they are finished with the job you can hardly tell they were there because they thoroughly clean up after themselves.

Owner Keith Mayes answered a message I left for an estimate and he promptly came out the same day. Weather affects when this type of work is done, so scheduling is difficult, but Keith and his crew came out within a week after my acceptance of proposal (he gave me a senior citizens discount), and the work was done August 10, 2007. They did a good job trimming and cleaning up afterwards. The stump removal was done several days later. At that time I mentioned to Keith that there were several branches over the neighbors yard that I felt still needed trimming. He said no problem and that he would be back as quickly as possible to do those, and is coming back today August 31 (he was delayed due to severe storms in the Chicago area within the last week. Keith and his crew did an outstanding job.

On Thursday evening a very sever thunderstorm split a hugh limb on a tree in our back yard. Causing it to hang over my garage and my neighbor's garage and over utility lines. On Saturday morning I called The Tree Guy Inc. and left a message. My call was returned within 1/2 hour by Keith Mayes. He came out immediately and gave an estimate. He returned that afternoon to perform the work. The limb was removed and no utility lines were damage. Mr. Mayes and his worker were extremely efficient and professional. He returned Monday morning with a wood chipper and everything was hauled away. The work was done just as proposed. I would differently hire the Tree Guy again if necessary.
