Dan Reeg Plumbing

I called Dan Reeg plumbing and spoke with Chris the owner. Chris was very helpful and friendly. I told him I needed a new water heater in my NW Oak Park home since my current one was old and leaking. He asked what size it was. I didn't know, so he came by the house to check it himself. He gave a price of $1,100 and told me that the price is firm and if his crew had to fix some other issues while installing, that would be included in the price. He said he doesn't nickel and dime his clients. The installation took several hours and there were two crew members doing the work instead of one, and they put in some new piping and electrical switch etc related to the water heater, but still the price was held firm. I was happy with that. My experience with Chris is that the estimate is firm, and the work is solid.

They came when they said they would come. They were very neat and they did do the job. The tub gave them a problem because whoever had installed the tub didn't do it properly so it took them longer and there was more work involved. What I didn't like was that it took a long time to replace the faucet. I think half of that bill was just to take out the sink faucet and put in a new one. It was like $180 just to change the faucet, which seemed like a lot to me. But, the work was fine. The guys who came was nice. They didn't object to anything else. For the tub part, the price was fine but for the faucet part, it was not so great.

Recently had a bad leak from old tub faucets. Have had work done in the past by Dan Reeg Plumbing. They are consistently timely, knowledgeable, efficient, considerate, and fair in pricing. They always consult with you about what needs to be done and what your options are. They do things the right way, but are thoughtful about cost containment. I have complete trust in their integrity and workmanship. Great team of plumbers.

They were on time and cleaned up after work was completed.

I called this morning and someone phoned back within the hour. They arrived 20 minutes later at my home. My powder room had a clog that was twenty feet deep into the sewer (we knew it was more than five, since we couldn't get it ourselves). Anyway, they ended up removing the entire toilet to get the clog. Put it back together and it works better than ever before. While here, they took a quick look at the upstairs tubs and fixed those as well (in a half hour!). Since they charge by the hour, a very good deal. They also cleaned up very nicely after themselves and were very professional. Definitely will use again if needed.

Dan gave me an estimate for 2 sink and 3 faucet replacements and a frost free hose connection installation on the phone. I had other possible plumbing jobs so we agreed he would come out to look. We arranged a time for me to call him. I called for 3 days, leaving messages, and he never returned the call. Went with another company for my work.

The event was traumatic. Because of the configuration of the pipes, they had to cut holes in the wall and floor. It took about a week and half, which was longer than we thought it would be. They were wonderful through the whole process. They kept us up to date on what they were doing and would explain what they were going to do. They also kept things very tidy and cleaned up well after themselves.

They repaired faulty work that was done by another contractor when they had installed the tub liner. They did a nice job for us. We are happy with the work and we would definitely hire them again.

They were fantastic and he is phenomenal. It seems like we use him once a month. He came over and inspected our house for free after we found him. He didn't charge us and said that he had been in the house before with two previous people. He has gotten to know my wife well. He is just a really good solid gentleman that will come over immediately when we call him. He is very honest. He has always done good work. He is our go-to guy.

They are our regular provider now. Their pricing is reasonable. They are very responsive when we call as far as timing or needing help with something. We are really happy with them.

We are extremely satisfied. We had been experiencing pressure problems when using water in different parts of the house, especially with the shower. The work was done in two days, Chris cleaned up thoroughly after each day; I did not even need to sweep. All waste was removed from the house and taken with them (not put in our alley). I wrote a check that included the cost of the water meter. Mr. Reeg called me upon receipt and stated he meant to include the cost of the meter in the quote, so he ripped up the check and I sent him another one for $260 less. This honesty is what Mr. Reeg and his crew always practice. Our water pressure is now substantially improved. About a month has past and there have been no problems.

They have always been very responsive even when a pipe burst in my house they run right over. highly recommended.

Very happy with the process and results. This is the second time we had Dan Reeg perform services. Dan returned our call that evening and came out the next morning to look at the job and discuss what we wanted done. Dan obtained all materials. He made sure he got a faucet that we wanted and for an acceptable price (we wanted a pull out sprayer). Chris came out two days later and arrived on time. He is very polite and a good communicator. The work was completed that day with virtually no clean up required on our part. The price above includes all labor and materials.

We called Dan after reviewing a dozen plumbers in the River Forest/Oak Park/Forest Park area. Dan's results on Angie's List speak for themselves. As potential buyers, we wanted a licensed plumber to verify that the seller's plumber performed the de-winterization process properly. Dan not only came over at the requested time with little notice, he also told us about some historical issues with the plumbing in the home (he had performed work for the previous owner) and gave us advice for the future changes we could consider making. As we're planning on remodeling, Dan's services will definitely be utilized in the future.

Dan the owner came out initially to survey the problem. His plumber Jim came promptly as we were told he would. He explained all his work, including some issues with our pipes that may need work in the future but were livable for now. He literally left the sinks and work area cleaner than when he started. They are a great company, who perfectly fixed a chronic problem that another local plumber could not fix.

He is excellent, and the plumbers who he has working for him are also very good. I would rate him highly and would use him again in the future.

On their first visit, Chris cut out rusted part of hub and advised that subfloor was rotted beyond repair and needed replacement before a new flange could go in. We replaced the subfloor ourselves. On the return visit, Chris cut new pipe, leaded a new flange, and reset the toilet. I was worried that the old hub and drain would need complete replacement = $$$. Chris was able to create a new fitting into the existing hub. Professionalism and punctuality were top notch and will not hesitate to call again.

Dan was recommended to me by another contractor as being knowledgeable and respectful of old houses. I called and left a message for him to return my call. He responded to my call in less than a day. (We Angie's Listers want responsiveness.) He was on time, professional and accurate in his diagnosis. He explained the problem to me in a way I could understand. His worker did a good job. This was not a huge job, but it went well and I was pleased.

Of the three plumbing contractors that aome to view what needed to be done, Dan was the only one to provided a quote. He explained why he could not use Pex tubing (against Illinois building code) and the pros and cons of on demand water heating. I scheduled the work with him after having the village correct a problem with the service from the street. It took four days. The work was professionally done with close attention to the details. We had three different plumbers work on the project and all three were professional, competent and left the work area clean and neat.

They were very responsive. Even if they were busy, they came as soon as they could. They are very honest about timing, and they always call me back within ten minutes of my call. They are also cleaned and professional. They are just great.

Dan Reeg called back within a few hours, and although he originally scheduled me for the following morning, he later called back when one of his plumbers became available that same day, which I appreciated. However, I give a ''D'' for professionalism because I work at home, and I specifically asked the plumber (not Dan, his employee) not to disturb me if the door was closed if not absolutely necessary, and he did just to tell me he was done with the job. Of course, this happens often with various workers, not just this company, but it was frustrating.

Our situation was an emergency since the water had soaked through the insulation and plaster on the ceiling of our foyer. Dan had a guy out there almost immediately to find and fix the problem with little disruption in our daily life.

I HAD A HANDYMAN WORK ON THIS PROBLEM FOR 6 HOURS WITHOUT SUCCESS. CHRIS, FROM DAN REEG, HANDLED IT IN 45 MINUTES. THEY ARE RESPONSIVE, HONEST ABOUT AVAILABILITY (BUT CAME SOONER THAN EXPECTED), AND CHARGE A FAIR PRICE. ACTUALLY HEARD SOMETHING I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE FROM A REPAIR PERSON ''IT'S NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE, WE CAN FIX THIS FAST.''!!
