He arrived a bit later than the window he had given me, but he called to say so and was very apologetic. I was very happpy with this provider and would not hesitate to use him again. Bill's Appliance is one of those gems that I might not have found were it not for Angie's List, and I am glad that I can find such a provider here.
Description of Work: Reattached the oven door that had partially come off (it's a lot harder than it sounds). Cleaned out dryer vent to outside

Description of Work: Bill came out twice to successfully repair our air conditioner after another serviceperson failed. The AC seemed to ''only work when it wanted to'', and would seem to not work on the hottest days, or when we had company over. Bill was puzzled at first, and made one attempt to fix it, at $75. He said if it didn't work he could come back and try to replace a certain part with no labor charge. Unfortunately that first fix didn't work, but he willingly came out again and charged just $28 additional to replace a part. Now the AC is working. Another company did not detect the real problem and would have charged more to replace the ''fan center'', which it turns out didn't need replacing.

His rates are very reasonable and he appears to be just really good with machines, because he seems to have no problem with ''hard to repair'' appliances that others either just won't touch or charge outrageous rates to fix. Bill's Appliance gets an A+ from me.
Description of Work: Came to the house multiple times to repair appliances (dw, dryer, microwave, etc) that others (i.e. manufacturers) had problems fixing.

+ -1 moreI called three appliance repair services on a Saturday when I started to smell gas coming from my gas dryer. Bill was the only one who called me back, and he did so the same day. He told me to turn off the gas (which I had already done), and was at my home first thing Monday to repair the problem. It turned out to be a problem with lint being where it shouldn't and once he cleaned it out and re-checked the connections, he was done. I know nothing about dryers, and he could have charged me a lot more for work I didn't need. He was prompt, polite, explained what he was doing and fixed the problem honestly and quickly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs an appliance fixed promptly and well.

He came, diagnosed, & fixed the problem- fan motor. Great rates, great guy. I will definitely call him again. And for no charge, he took a look at my heating/cooling system & gave me some advice as to how to take care of it.
Description of Work: My refrigerator was not keeping the food inside cold- I came home from a long weekend & had to throw away $100 worth of groceries.

+ -1 moreBill was on time and very pleasant to deal with. He worked hard to repair the leak without having to order an expensive part, that would have meant a more costly repair. Bill said he tries to fix things, as if they were his own. His full price was $5 less than the service call charge for the repair company recommended by the manufacturer. I highly recommend Bill. Very honest and ethical repairman.

+ -1 moreOur through-the-wall air conditioner stopped working on a very hot Memorial Day. We called Bill the next morning (Tuesday), and he was able to come out that day. Because it was an extremely busy day, he couldn't come exactly when he thought he could. On the other hand, he arranged to call us at work before he came over so we didn't have to wait at home all afternoon. This is our second time dealing with Bill, and we were very pleased both times.
Description of Work: Repaired through-the-wall air conditioning unit. A wire had burned through, and Bill replaced it.

He was there and gone quickly, and from all appearances efficiently. It was also very convenient that he had Saturday service hours.

+ -1 moreWe called Bill's Appliance & Air at about 8 am and left a message describing the problem. Bill called back in about 10 minutes, and he arrived by 9:15. He was very polite and explained everything he was doing. We would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: The pilot light on the furnace was out and wouldn't stay lit, so we had no heat at all. Bill replaced the thermocouple, and the furnace is now working fine.

He was efficient and knowledgeable as well as courteous. I would absolutely call him again for any appliance repair and recommend him to friends. His charges for diagnosis were very fair.

+ -1 moreBill was only a few minutes away and was able to come quickly. He also told me what he thought the problem might be. He opened the furnace and checked a couple of things. He took out the flame sensor and told me what he was looking for. Then proceeded to clean it. He put the flame sensor back in and everything is working fine. Bill really knows his stuff and is able to communicate well. He was also polite to my kids. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: The flame on my furnance was not staying lit, on the coldest day of February and the temperature in our house was dropping quickly. With three small kids, I was in super panic mode.

+ -1 moreBill was a pleasure to deal with. This is the second time that he came to the home to work on my washer. All he charged me was his minimal fee of $85.00 for coming out and repairing my Neptune Washer. He did charge me a restocking fee for the new door seals that he ordered at my request and refused to accept any additional monies for this visit. I can honestly state, you will not find a more honest and conscientious technician than Bill. I would not hesitate to give him a call to work on any of your appliances.
Description of Work: I had Bill come out to fix my Maytag Neptune washer for the second time. Yes I was one of those fools who purchased a Neptune but knock on wood, I have not had the problems other owners had with this machine. The cover for the detergent dispenser was broken and I noticed that the seals for this machine were quite dirty. I asked Bill to order the parts and come out to fix my machine. Once the parts came in Bill came to my home and determined that the door seal for this machine did not need to be replaced. All that was needed was a good cleaning and he suggested that my wife and I let the machine run through an entire cycle with no laundry. He suggested that we put lemon juice in the water and that would go a long way towards removing the musty smell that sometimes accumulates in this machine.

Description of Work: Cleaned out the works of the clothes dryer and removed numerous small items that had been left in clothing pockets over many years, causing the dryer to shut down. Replaced a damaged thermal fuse.

Description of Work: My house was freezing and the furnace churning 24 x 7. I just wanted an opinion on the possible cause for the problem. Bill came out, pulled apart the furnace and humidifier. He cleaned the flame sensor, and stopped a rattling that had been going on.

HE CAREFULLY TOOK DOWN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM AND THE PROPER MODEL INFORMATION BEFORE COMING OUT, THEN ARRIVED ON TIME WITH THE PROPER PARTS IN HAND. HE FIXED THE PROBLEM, THEN WHEN WE ASKED WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX ANOTHER (MORE MINOR) ISSUE WITH THE OVEN, HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT AND GET BACK TO US--WHICH HE DID THE NEXT DAY. WHEN WE DIDN'T RESPOND TO HIS MESSAGE, HE FOLLOWED UP A WEEK OR SO LATER SAYING HE WAS AT HIS DISTRIBUTOR'S AND COULD PICK UP THE PARTS THEN IF WE WANTED TO PROCEED. WE TOLD HIM IT WASN'T WORTH IT TO US, BUT I WAS VERY IMPRESSED THAT HE REMEMBERED AND FOLLOWED UP WITH US. I WOULD DEFINITELY HIRE HIM AGAIN.

HE WAS FAIR, HONEST AND, MOREOVER, SOUGHT OUT ADVICE ON HOW TO SOLVE OUR ISSUE. AFTER TRYING REALLY EVERYTHING, WE THREW OUR HANDS UP AND IN THE END, ORDERED ANOTHER UNIT. NONETHELESS, OUR EXPERIENCE WITH BOB WAS VERY GOOD AND HE'S TRULY A RELIABLE AND PROFESSIONAL WORKER.
