Description of Work: I met with them to consider installing a new home alarm system. The contract was completed and all went well until I read the contract in detail (4 pages of fine print). I then cancelled the contract within the three day contract review period due to major inconsistencies in the contract. Unfortunately, they charged my credit card the day after the contract was cancelled and have yet to issue a refund (two weeks since request for refund).

He assisted in finding the best pricing, including researching any and all additional discounts (AARP, AAA, etc.). Installation took place promptly and service since has been prompt and professional.

+ -1 moreADT WAS ONE OF FIVE ALARM COMPANIES I CONTACTED FOR ESTIMATES. THEIR SALESMAN VISITED MY CONDO AND WAS UNABLE TO TELL ME PRICES FOR ADDING ADDITIONAL WINDOW SENSORS, GLASS-BREAK MONITORS, SMOKE DETECTORS, OR PANIC BUTTONS. HE WAS ONLY PREPARED TO SELL ME PACKAGED DEALS, NONE OF WHICH HAD THE FEATURES I WANTED. HE PROMISED TO GET BACK TO ME WITH PRICES FOR THE ADD-ONS, BUT FAILED TO RETURN MY CALL A WEEK LATER. WHEN I GOT FED UP WITH HIM, I CALLED ADT'S CORPORATE SALES NUMBER (THE 800 NUMBER ON THE ADT WEBSITE). I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T SELL ME A SYSTEM BECAUSE I HAD INITIATED MY CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL OFFICE (AND THE UNRELIABLE SALESMAN). SO, I CONTACTED THE SALESMAN'S BOSS AND LEFT A DETAILED VOICEMAIL EXPLAINING MY EXPERIENCE AND DESCRIBING WHAT I WANTED. THE MANAGER FAILED TO RESPOND TO MY CALL FOR TWO DAYS -- DESPITE KNOWING WHAT A BAD EXPERIENCE I HAD. WHEN HE DID CALL BACK, HE OFFERED ME PRICES ON THE SAME PACKAGE DEALS I DIDN'T WANT. I GAVE UP AND WENT WITH KEYTH.
Description of Work: VISITED MY THREE-BEDROOM WALKUP CONDO. TO PROVIDE A SECURITY ASSESSMENT AND AN ESTIMATE FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM COVERING THREE DOORS, MULTIPLE WINDOWS AND SMOKE/CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTION.

+ -1 moreFROM THE MOMENT OF MY INITIAL CONTACT WITH ADT, IT WAS PRETTY NEGATIVE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT WHO ANSWERED MY FIRST CALL KNEW NO SPECIFICS ABOUT THE SERVICE, BUT ASSURED ME THAT THE SALESMAN WOULD EXPLAIN THE OPTIONS, LEAVE PRINTED MATERIAL, NOT PRESSURE ME, AND LEAVE. WHAT HAPPENED WAS NOTHING OF THE SORT. MARK, THE REPRESENTATIVE, CAME TO MY HOUSE. HE STAYED NEARLY THREE HOURS, ALL THE WHILE PRESSURING ME INTO BUYING THE PRODUCT, OPENING DOORS AND CLOSETS WITHOUT ASKING. HE TRIED TO FRIGHTEN ME ABOUT MY SAFETY, ASKED MORE THAN ONCE TO SIGN A DEAL IMMEDIATELY, AND ASKED A LOT OF NON-SERVICE RELATED QUESTIONS. THEN, ADT'S MAIN OFFICE CALLED ME TO ASK ME TO DO A SURVEY ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR. ASIDE FROM THE PRESSURE TACTICS, I CHOSE NOT TO GO WITH ADT BECAUSE THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. THEY OFFER A SERVICE PLAN, AND WITHOUT IT, EVEN POOR WORKMANSHIP ON THEIR PART IS NOT COVERED. THE COMPANY I CHOSE USES THE EXACT SAME EQUIPMENT, AND COSTS $200 LESS.
Description of Work: I HAD A REPRESENTATIVE FROM ADT COME OVER TO GIVE ME A QUOTE ON AN ALARM SYSTEM. I DID NOT PICK THEM TO DO THE WORK.
