Luigi restored my faith in contractors. He answered my first call right away. Came out to give an estimate promptly. His bid was reasonable. Showed up to do the work when he said he would. Has a great setup for all his equipment. Was meticulous in the work they did. I appreciated that they didn't rush through it. They seemed to enjoy what they do, which makes me happy, after some carpenters I had who seemed in a hurry to knot out the job. Luigi and his crew are just the opposite. They were courteous, cleaned all mess and did exactly what I wanted/expected. Major pruning, major weeding and overall yard cleanup. Highly recommend. I know this is a busy time of year and really glad they fit me in.

I received an estimate for lawn maintenance; I then called to ask a few questions. We agreed on the service to be performed and he stated they would do the spring clean up on Saturday, 5/2. He was unable to tell me the time, but assured me they would be there. They never showed up; they never called. Joe and Tony's did the spring clean up on Tuesday, 5/5. Luigi called me after seeing my poor review, which I submitted on Tuesday morning (not knowing they'd be by that day). Luigi explained they had unexpected extra work on Saturday, and therefore were unable to service my lawn. He was very apologetic and understood my frustrations as the customer. He agreed to meet me at my convenience in order to discuss what happened and talk about future work. He is a very good man and was very agreeable in discussing the situation. The lawn looks good after a thorough spring cleanup. I have hired them to do lawn maintenance for the summer. I am a happy customer. It's now August - Joe and Tony's has been servicing my lawn since May. My lawn looks TERRIBLE. I called Joe and Tony's on August 3rd, and expressed my disappointment in how my lawn looks. My grass is yellow and I have CRABGRASS and LOTS OF WEEDS - I've never had this problem in the past. Luigi told me it's because I'm not watering my lawn. I've never watered my lawn in the past, PLUS we've had quite a rainy summer until July. I told him I'm very disappointed in his company's work at my house and he replied "ok". Again....very disappointing.

I'm currently using them. This is going to be my third Summer. With the landscpers, there are always extras but I find him very average. They come out once a week to do everything. They start in Spring. They'll probably start in a few weeks to do a Spring clean up which of course they charge more for because they are very comprehensive and it takes twice as long. Then they come out weekly and fertilize what they have to. They cut the grass, cut the bushes, they do a lot. They workers are excellent; very good. I know they come once a week. I work, all I know is that when I come home the lawn looks good. They're very professional, courteous, friendly and they do a good job.

I've used them several times. I'm never there when the crew comes out. I have no idea who comes. It looks fine. I didn't liked it as well as the work they had done before but they do good work. I just didn't like it as well. It shard to match a hundred year old stone. They come, they were prompt and responsive. I had asked them to come when I was home and they came some time when I was't home. I was a little annoyed with that. They do what they say they were going to do. They did the job.

Used shovels to edge the beds, continually expanding the bed size. My grass is loaded with weeds They broke my side gate The supervisor did nothing to address my problems

Everything went well. We saved a lot of money re-seeding verses re-sodding the entire yard. I would use them again in the future.

I am very pleased with the work performed by Joe and Tony Landscaping. The company designed and installed a beautiful brick paver patio with a custom built pergola and a surface/subsurface drainage system that resolved a problematic flooding issue, where water from heavy rains would drain and collect at the back of the house and seep into the basement. The water would get so high at times, that it would actually pour over the foundation wall and into the basement like a waterfall. Over the years I had consulted many professionals, including several building, drainage, and landscape contractors, but I could never find anyone who could come up with a reasonable solution that was within my budget. In fact, many of them never bothered to call back, as the job was very complex and apparently not worth their time. There were many factors contributing to the complexity of the job, as my home is > 90 years old with very poor infrastructure, including a small and condensed yard space that contained several large oak trees with extensive root systems and a gradient that sloped in the direction of the house. There seemed to be few options for entrapping and diverting drainage water, and I was feeling hopeless that I would ever be able to find someone competent enough to perform the work and fulfill my dreams of having a dry patio and basement. Then I found Joe and Tony Landscaping on Angie?s List, and on my first day of consultation with Dan, he immediately came up with a comprehensive strategy employing various methodologies to collect the water and transport it to a safe area, in spite of all the obstacles. Within 24 hours, Dan presented a proposal that was illustrated by a 3-D graphic video that allowed me to envision his plan. I was amazed at how spot on he was in the tasteful design of a brick patio that was surrounded by a brick retaining/seat wall and that incorporated various drainage systems that collected water from the back yard and patio and discharged it to the front yard with minimal disruption to the existing trees/infrastructure, and all at a reasonable and fair cost. The project began late in the summer and was completed in one week, despite the fact that it rained heavily almost every day of the project. The crew was hard-working, dedicated, and very polite and respectful. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and showed a genuine interest and passion for his work. He was easy to talk to, responsive, and took time to share his expertise and offer suggestions, no matter what the issue. Because of the diverse knowledge and talent that Dan and his team possess, they were also able to provide a custom built pergola, outdoor lighting and an electrical outlet, they replaced shingles and a fence panel due to the demo of existing infrastructure, sealed off and filled-in a 7 foot deep abandoned grease catch basin that was obstructing the discharge path, and they even poured a cement floor/foundation wall for a crawl space under my front porch to keep moisture and water out. I have small dogs, and to help my dogs over the patio retaining wall, Dan devised a small doggie step. There seemed to be no limit to their potential, and they were always willing to help if Dan felt it was something within their capability. I had a very positive experience working with this company, and I am more than pleased with the outcome. The whole team was enjoyable to work with, and if there are any issues, they will come out right away and address it at no charge. I couldn?t be happier, and I will definitely use this company for all my future outdoor construction and landscape projects. My dogs and I love our beautiful new patio with attached pergola, and most of all, it remains dry during the heavy rains! Thank you Joe and Tony Landscaping!!

Excellent job - we've used Joe & Tony for years.

We met with several different companies during the quote/design stage, including Dan from Joe & Tony. Within a couple weeks of our initial meeting, Dan created a 3-D video rendering of what he had in mind that was exactly what we were looking for. To see Dan's ideas applied in 3-D against our house really helped us envision the final product. Dan also worked with us to adjust the design and options to better fit our budget. Once the work began, Dan and his team did a great job. It is a huge patio with elevation changes in the yard to deal with, gas lines run to the firepit and grill, and softscape and lighting added. With Dan's design and material suggestions, the patio has a very clean, but natural look that we were looking for. We couldn't be happier with it.

Dan came out as scheduled, I gave him a rough idea of what I was looking for, which was a small retaining wall and some new plantings for front and side of house. A few days later I had an graphic display and an estimate. The workers came out about a month and a half later and spent two days completing the work. They did a great job and it looks better than the original graphic. So far I've gotten numerous compliments about the work and the landscaping looks beautiful. Thank you!

They did an absolutely amazing job. We are still getting compliments on the brick path. The retaining wall has been rock-solid. It had been listing significantly to one side because it was not originally installed correctly, but Joe & Tony's landscaping made sure that it was done right. The drainage pipes and covers have prevented any of our landscaping from becoming flooded. We did not request any drainage, but Joe and Tony's knew that it was needed in our case. The installation was fast - completed in one day. We left the house for work and when we got home, it was done. We also had some drainage pipes installed by Joe & Toney's that broke due to the extreme cold during the last winter. Temperatures were mostly below zero all winter, so it was no surprise when I noticed that a pipe had cracked. I called Dan at Joe & Tony's Landscaping and he was at our house within two days and fixed the pipes at no cost to us. I highly recommend Joe & Tony's. We will be using them for any of our future landscaping work.

We got several estimates and there are a few reasons we chose Dan at Joe and Tony Landscaping. The price was not the "cheapest" but it was fair and he was willing to work with us re. spreading out payments. The design was all his, and he had some great ideas- not only were the ideas great, but we could actually SEE them in the youtube videos he created of our future yard. The best part was his responsiveness. He let me participate as much or as little as I desired, and he replied immediately to all our questions, concerns and needs. His "no problem" attitude goes a long way with me.

As Usual Crew came all last year, did a great clean up. Picked up all the leave, dethatched the lawn areas, cleaned out the beds, fertilize cut the lawn. They guys were great as normal. They have maintaining our property for 20 plus years. we continue be be satisfied year after year.

I am very disappointed. Dan was 30 minutes late for our first appointment. Then after the discussion we had about what I wanted he provided a 3D design (very fast) of what I did not ask for. After my comments about the changes that should be done to fit my expectation he asked for a "deposit check of $1500.00 and my commitment" because I should not expect "the layout and quote at no charge" to be right according to him. Maybe it is better not to offer a free of charge estimation Dan cannot provide it. Also he let me know that they have too many clients. I guess I was not important for the company.

Dan from Joe and Tony called me literally 5 minutes after I had entered information on their website for someone to contact me about obtaining an estimate for a paver patio. We scheduled an appointment for him to come look at the project. Dan came out to look at our back yard, and we talked about what we wanted to do. He is a really nice, knowledgable guy, who definitely listened to our desires. I received an estimate, and an awesome YouTube video a couple days later, showing our backyard and what the patio would look like when it was completed. Very impressive. We got two other estimates for the patio, and the one from Joe and Tony fell right in the middle, price-wise. We made a decision to go with them for our patio, but unfortunately right after I returned the signed proposal, but right before I was going to send in my deposit, we had to cancel the project due to some unforeseen circumstances that would divert most of our funds away from doing the patio at this time. Though we didn't have the work done, I would definitley recommend this company. Dan was very responsive to our questions, and I know they would do quality work.

From the beginning to end, everyone that we came in contact with from this company was helpful, punctual, dedicated and professional. When I contacted them to get a quote, Dan was very responsive to my questions and gave us all the details we needed to make a decision. His team showed up on the days that he said they would, worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. And there were no surprises with the price, which was very reasonable for the work done. Even after the project was done and the check was cashed Dan was responsive to my questions regarding patio maintenance. We would definitely use this company again!

Selecting this company was a "no-brainer" after seeing the proposal we got. They sent us a "fly-thru" three-dimensional view of what the new landscaping would look like. The work was scheduled, they came on time, made a few adjustments per our request and completed the job efficiently. This spring, it looks like everything they planted is coming up perfectly. Overall, we feel we got more than we paid for; a rare treat!

Dan M., is an extremely talented and professional landscape designer. The patio is absolutely beautiful, and both walkways are gorgeous. His exceptional landscape design compliments the design of my house, and also enhances the wooded backyard. The plantings were of the highest quality and have been extremely healthy and very, very low maintenance. The men who completed the actual stonework and plantings were prompt, careful, and very neat. I have been so very pleased with their work that I have asked them to do additional work this spring to complete some of the remaining landscape projects suggested by Dan. Homeowners should drive through their neighborhood and notice the difference between homes that "keep up" with their landscaping projects and those who put it off too long. (I am someone who should have done these projects years ago!) I'm thrilled that I was so fortunate to find a landscape designer that I trust, is reasonable in cost, and does such professional and outstanding work. It's wonderful to be able to now enjoy both the view from every window inside, as well as enjoy my surroundings outside throughout the year.

We have used Joe and Tony in the past, so when it came to our front yard i knew to who to call. Our forn landscaping was planted about 8 years ago and we never real loved it, but lived with it. When we finally couldn't take it anymore i called Dan. He came over and talked about a what we did not like about the front and he developed two new layouts for us. One was a little over the top and one was reusing what we had in combination with some new plantings. it fit our budget and i had them come out the following week. They removed and saved all new mulch they had put down in the spring. remove and save some of our plants, which got either replanted in the front for some went in the back yard. Then Dan come out and just tweaked the layout with what he had to work with. Added a speciment birch tree and large boulders, lighting and then put back the original mulch. Then since it was fall i had them do a fall cleanup, mow, fertilized the lawn and clean the gutters. They had just power washed and sealed our brick paver patio and were very careful not to damage it. I hoping to have them repair our driveway this coming season

In the summer of 2013, we moved into a 19 year old home in a northern Chicago suburb. The landscaping in the front and back yards was original to the home and had been poorly maintained. The flower beds in the front were undersized for the scale of the house and were filled with overgrown shrubs and weeds. The back deck was badly damaged and unusable. We knew that a major overhaul was needed to get the landscaping and lawn up to par with the rest of the neighborhood. We were new to the Chicago area so we depended heavily on Angie?s List reviews to find a landscaping firm that could help with our extensive wish list. I first met with Luigi of Joe and Tony?s Landscaping to discuss a weed and feed plan for the yard. Within weeks, the grassy areas looked much better, the salvageable shrubs had been pruned, and the overgrown flower beds cleared. I then met with Dan, the landscape architect, regarding a design plan for the front landscaping. We were impressed by the design Dan created since it went beyond simple foundation plantings and a standard concrete walk. He created a winding, paver pathway that provides a welcoming entry to the house. He also expanded the flower beds and filled them with a variety of plant materials that will ensure a long season of blooms and interesting foliage next summer and for years to come. He was flexible, however, when I wanted to make a substitution here or there to incorporate a favorite plant or a different color option. His advice on what would work or not work in this climate was very helpful. One benefit we appreciated from working with Joe and Tony?s was that they have been in the landscaping industry for many years and have a long list of contacts in the business. As an example, this came in handy when we needed to find particular accent pieces (large trellises) for the front yard. Dan was able to direct us to a salvage yard for reclaimed iron work and to another business for the refinishing of the pieces. There were several instances like this throughout the project where his extensive network of suppliers, contractors, and sources proved very beneficial. After the front landscaping was completed, we launched into the backyard re-do which involved mostly installation of hardscape materials. We wanted the space to be multi-functional with areas for outdoor cooking and dining, an outdoor ?living room?, and a built-in fire pit. The scope of the project was huge but Dan committed a large crew to tackle the work including very skilled stone masons who created beautiful sweeping patios, a built-in bar for the grill, and a fabulous fire pit area. One of the challenges with the project was that we wanted the outdoor living room to be a covered area. We found a pre-fab pergola unit on-line that had a unique design and hoped that it would work in the space. Unfortunately, while the unit was attractive in the sales brochure, in person it was clear that the materials and workmanship were not very good and we would likely regret it if we went that route. Dan was able to bring in a contractor, Eddie, who designed and built a pergola using the pre-fab unit as inspiration but we ended up with a much more sturdy and attractive structure that is the showpiece of the whole space. Overall, we could not be happier with the experience we had with Joe and Tony?s Landscaping. We feel that the advantages we gained from hiring this firm are the professionalism and skill of their workforce, the creativity in the design process, the network of knowledgeable and capable suppliers and contractors, and their responsiveness when issues or concerns arose during the project. We went from having a yard that was the eyesore of the neighborhood to having one we are truly proud to share with our friends and family. We thank Dan, Luigi and their entire crew for making our wishes come true!

We continue to be very pleased with the lawn service. Joe and Tony Landscaping has provided us over the years. They have never missed a week, do a great spring cleanup, weekly service and Fall cleanup. They also do a great job on our fertilizing program. I highly recommend them if you need a good reliable long term service.

You can always count on Dan at Joe & Tony's. They are prompt, professional and the end result of their work is always amazing.

Luigi was awesome. He answered all of our questions and offered suggestions for a long term landscape plan, but was not pushy at all. His team came back in a couple of days to perform all the the needed work. Our lawn went from dead to lush and green in just a few weeks. He even came back to check on how things were looking. I will definitely use Luigi again from Joe and Tony's!

While we didn't end up using Joe and Tony Landscaping, I would certainly consider using them in the future based on their responsiveness to my inquiry and the pricing on their proposal. Because they were not able to schedule the work much earlier, I decided to use another contractor. However, I would certainly include them for any future proposals I have for landscaping work.

The yard service is pretty good. the lawn is trimmed well and on time. A little pricey considering the work to be done, but not too bad. Our issue with the lawn is that they seem to try to speed through and not pay attention to details. They also seem to do trimming and such without asking or notice. One month we received a much higher bill for cleanup, for trimming and the like. I don't want to be too harsh here - I think this is how most lansdcapers operate. They decide what work needs to be done and bill you for it with no discussion. But it still hits the checkbook. The details is where they really fall down. What spurred tis review is the semi-random cutting of flowers, flowers that were currently in bloom and some still to bloom. The cutting itself is inconsistent, with flowers in one bed clipped to the ground, and the same species in another bed 2 feet away untouched. I'm not sure why they needed to cut down blooming flowers in August and September. There's a lot of time before the real Fall weather and the flowers are gone until next year. We've had other lawn people who knew end of season for our beds and didn't cut until the entire bed was ready to be put to sleep. I wish the lawn folks would have left them alone unless they knew the growing season, which they didn't seem aware of. I was considering calling them, complaining about the cut, but they are non-responsive at times. and also, they can't bring the flowers back anyway. We'll probably look elsewhere next season.
