+ -1 moreRepresentative was very professional. Spent extra time pointing out two issues regarding placement of furnace filter and humidifier. We were not using the humidifier. The representative explained that we should set humidifier at 35% and decrease if we see moisture on windows.

air duct cleaning
+ -1 moreThey came in and examined everything. The top filters were worse then the bottom filters. A total of 4 inches of dirt had accumulated over the last 2 years. The second company that I hired said it was impossible to have that much dirt accumulate over such a short period of time.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased from start to finish. The company was very responsive. The salesman didn't try to upsell me to a unit that we didn't need. (I was confused about SEER, and he explained why a lower number was fine for my house) The workers were efficient and worked very cleanly. In addition to our a/c unit, one of the crew members noticed that an air intake valve for our furnace (which AW installed about four years ago) could be raised up so that it would be more likely to be above snow. They took care of replacing it at no extra charge. The freon and service call cost us close to $600. We were credited back half of that towards the new unit.
Description of Work: About a month ago, our a/c stopped working. It was late on a Saturday night. I called Weathermaker's 24 hour emergency service. A technician called me back and tried a few troubleshooting steps. When they didn't work, we set a time for him to come out the next morning. After an inspection, he told us that we were low on freon. We've had to do a recharge every year for the past four years or so, so we weren't surprised. It was rather a large amount, however, and he told us that he couldn't be sure that the unit would last the summer. We're planning on doing other work on the house in the fall and wanted to try to do everything at once, so we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. And then on Thursday night, it stopped working again. On Friday morning, a technician/sales rep came to look at the house and unit. Our a/c was gone, and we needed a new system. He gave me some options, explained the pros and cons of each one, and we made a choice. We set up a service call for 8:00 am Saturday morning. A two-man crew arrived right on time. They were very careful to always use shoe covers in the house. They took out the old equipment and replaced it with our new stuff. They were here just under four hours. A third crew member arrived later in the morning to remove all of the old equipment and boxes.

+ -1 moreThe blower wheel separated from the blower motor on our AC in the middle of the night. The next morning I contacted American Weathermakers and they made an appointment for that day. Andy came out and evaluated the unit. He did not have the parts needed to make the repairs but he was able to track them down while still at the house, and he rearranged his schedule so that he could pick up the parts and return that same day to make the repairs saving us from spending the warm night without any AC.

+ -1 morefurnace and blowerWe had a blower motor go bad on our central air/furnace. We quoted it out to two companies and found American to be cheaper. I'd used them in the past and was happy with them but wanted to make sure the pricing was fair. We went with the full rip and replace of the furnace which was over 40 years old to a new highly efficient one (which required a new exauhst pipe out the side of the house). American Weathermakers was prompt, courteous and competent. No problems.

They keep my AC and furnace operating smoothly and have replaced my hot water heater when needed. They ate very neat and clean and patient with my questions.
Description of Work: The air conditioner was cleaned and evaluated for the upcoming season. The capacitor was weakening which is understandable in a unit which is 17 years old. He recommended and installed a part which should hopefully continue its faithful service.

Out of three bids they offered the best price and from there everything went smoothly. The techs arrived on time and were very polite. Without having to even ask they immediately put shoe covers on to protect my floors. Our machine has been working perfectly since it was installed. The second time I call American Weathermakers was to have my air ducts cleaned. Again the tech was right on time, very professional, and left the home cleaner then he arrived. I have and will continue to refer American Weathermakers to my family and friends. Thanks for a super job!

+ -1 moreBecause of the recent rain, our basement flooded and we needed to replace our water heater. They installed a 50 gal tank, installed new shut off valves. The installers were on time, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. Would recommend to anyone looking for some help. My thought is that rather than get one thru Lowes or Home Depot, use a pro and have them stand behind the product. How long do you think it would take to get someone from somewhere else to fix it if something should ever go wrong?

Our project was particularly challenging, as the unit and much of the duct work was virtually inaccessible. Despite the horrible working conditions, everyone was delightful and extremely accommodating. The work was performed efficiently, with absolutely no mess, and our air conditioning system is better than ever.
