American Weathermakers

Once again, American Weathermakers saved the day! Have used them for over 30 years and they’ve been consistently good and very responsive in critical situations and still continue to deliver quality service. During the last sub-zero cold spell with wind chills running in the minus 30 degree range, I woke on Sunday morning, about 6am, with the house a very chilly 52 degrees. Seems the furnace was not working! Immediately called American Weathermakers and reached their answering service. A very nice lady took my information and said someone call me back. About twenty minutes later, Zlatan Pasic, their Installation Manager, called and said he was headed into the office and would be going past my home and could stop and see if he could find the problem. When he arrived, he was immediately able to solve one problem but there was a blown circuit board that would need replacing. Obviously, he didn’t have one with him but said he would check as soon as he was in the office and and let me know. Told me it would take an hour or so to get back to me because he also needed to coordinate all the service calls coming in due to the storm and cold. He called about an hour later and said they had the circuit board (!!) and as soon as a technician was free and could get to the warehouse to pick it up, they would be out. Matt Merkelz, one of their service technicians, arrived within a couple hours with the part and up had the unit up and running in short order. By late afternoon, my house was once again warm and snuggy!

Corey Krause was at my home to tune-up and check my boiler which was installed in October 2022. He performed his work efficiently and I am satisfied with American Weathermakers and Corey's work. I do like your commercials on WGN radio. I also referred my daughter for a new furnace with you.

Didn't go well. They don't stand behind there work. Very unprofessional.

They provided an excellent service and always arrived as scheduled.

I asked them for a receipt in detail for future reference, and they said they will send it by mail, no receipt came, so I called and spoke to 2 people in American Weathermakers, and asked for an actual receipt, and they said they will send a receipt, I received a blank receipt with my name is written wrong, there was no phone number on it, and so I called to ask for an itemized receipt, asked for the credit the $30.00 that was promised, but they said the original price was $288, but the actual payment I made was $258, Bad attitude of this provider. The way I was treated was not acceptable, so I do not like these people. They should give out a receipt right after the service just like a car repair does, and not run after them for a receipt and deal with Miss America and her bad attitude.

We hired American Weathermakers to come rewire our heater in Sept 2021, here we are not 90 days later and the wiring is failing. A call to Am Weathermakers has them telling us we must pay a new service fee just to get someone out to fix the mess. We keep getting fed the line of “it’s most likely a new problem”, it’s not, it’s the wiring, the same brand new wiring installed in Sept. Don’t make the same mistake we did, find someone who will stand by their work instead of jabbing you with paying for service calls from jobs not done correctly.

This is a horrible company that does not stand by their work. Flooded our basement by installing our sump pump wrong and then saying it wasn't their fault. They cam out and did the start up and told us we were all set. Then our basement flooded. Their service guy was in our sump room for 20 minutes and told us it was not installed correctly and they would make it right - but the next day said he was not in the room for 20 minutes fixing their mistake. The owner told us they were not going to do anything and to call our insurance company since the basement will probably mold. Shysters.

I have been a customer of American Weathermakers in Chicago since 2005. As a Comfort Club member, they come twice a year for maintenance on my hot water heater, furnace, humidifier, and air conditioner. The annual maintenance has extended the life of these items. The technicians and office folks have always been experienced and professional in all conversations. In July 2020, they installed an Aprilaire Model 1410 Air Purifier onto my furnace. Now that I am working from home full time I was looking for ways to improve my indoor air quality. In December 2020, it was time to replace my 15-year-old hot water heater. The hot water tank was starting to get a bit corroded on the top and I deiced to replace it before I was forced to replace it. For both visits, the technician adhered to Covid protocols. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and the work area was cleaned up before they left. They walked me through the products before leaving. I will continue to use American Weathermakers for my HVAC needs. Thank You American Weathermakers!

Absolutely perfect! The new boiler and the boiler room around it looks gorgeous, the piping is perfect and has cutoff valves to simplify maintenance (if ever a component requires repair). From the outside door all the way to the boiler, every area was left clean and neat. Most importantly, every area of our home has the exactly perfect amount of heat (That is radically different from the old system!) Finally, their team was fantastic to work with. They answered every question, asked for our preferences, and never stopped their work pace. And they were great individuals!

I called at 3:00 PM and they had a technician at our house by 5:00 PM. He wore a mask the entire time he was in the house. He quickly diagnosed the problem. He explained what was wrong and did the repair. By 5:45 we had s working furnace.

Excellent. American Weathermakers has been our HVAC service people for 30 years. We wouldn’t use anyone else. Affordable, courteous, very responsive to emergencies, exceptional service people & a well trained office. Everything you need.

We also appreciate our regular service technician who recommended replacing our water heater, 16 years old with Rheem, a top rated brand. heat stopped working - possible thermostat replacement

What a rip off - do not trust them! I'm so glad I went with a second opinion. I had a leaky boiler and the $89 diagnostic assessment suggested a $7k new boiler. If I wanted them to replace one faulty part (circular pump) it would cost $1,500 because they would need to empty all radiators first so they highly discouraged it. For my second opinion, I found out we had no water in the radiators to begin with (we just purchased this home). This new part was replaced and the faulty circular pump wasn't faulty at all. It just needed a new washer. I called to request a refund since they didn't diagnose the problem properly and WHITNEY told me I can take my opinions elsewhere... so here we are. I'm out $89 and Dominick didn't even diagnosis the issue properly. I'm very confident if my husband were home, the whole situation would have transpired differently...but they saw a female and thought they could take advantage. Terrible service and terrible customer service.

Remarkable company, consistently high level of service and professionalism

Well! I love American Weathermakers, and pay for the fall cleaning for the furnace, and the spring cleaning for the AC. They show up when they say they will show up, and they are polite, neat, clean up after their visit.

Pre-summer preventive maintenance on the AC compressor and system. No surprises. On time. The tech observed COVID-19 protocols. There may be cheaper options, but I have confidence in their competence and quality.

Prompt, professional, courteous - and reasonably priced

They did an excellent job. Polite, very thoughtful about COVID-19, wearing mask and shoe covers while inside the house. Arrived on time and completed the job quickly.

The technicians are always prompt, courteous, and provide detailed info as needed for each visit. I have used them for many years.

Their technicians are great. I have purchased a new heater and a new AC unit from them. However, both times I have had present them with other estimates to get their pricing down. I really hate it when a business does not present their best price from the beginning. It makes me feel like I am being scammed and it puts more on my plate in terms of finding competitive quotes, etc. I understand that businesses are trying to profitable, but when you are clearly tacking on an additional 25% (literally thousands of dollars in my experience with them) it gives me a bad feeling. They are reliable and the work is good, but not at the markups they are doing. Always get competitive quotes when working with them. Even the comfort club service doesn't quite give the value they claim. For example, you can get air filters for much less than what they are charging directly from the manufacturer. Good folks, just a bad business model that makes their customers do more work than is needed and sets up distrust in their pricing.

Smooth installation, responsive to unique circumstances in an old house. Fair price. Responsive customer service.

American Weathermakers did a great job replacing a damaged cooling line to our outdoor compressor. Was on time and came in under the original projected cost by about $100.

Excellent service by a friendly and knowledgeable technician and he's always arrived on time or early. Couldn't be happier with his work!

They are always professional ,knowledgeable and easy to work with. Honestly don’t know what more I could ask for.
