They always call before they come, which is nice and if we are not home they will leave the report on the door. We have never had any problems with them or termites. Therefore, they are doing something right. Overall, we are pleased with them.

They were timely and reasonably priced. They did leave insulation in the gutter after the animals had stuck it there - it seemed like common sense that they should have taken care of that.

I was extremely pleased with the responsiveness of the people at Smithereen. The technician frankly encouraged me NOT to pay the $300 emergency premium, suggesting it would be better to let nature take its course, but said that if I really, really wanted the animal gone, he would add one more job to his 11-hour day, and on a Friday, yet. He actually waited for me to get home to check and see if the squirrel was still there, so that I would not have to pay the $300 unnecessarily. This meant the poor guy took another 10 minutes out of his weekend, waiting for me to call. This was above and beyond the call of duty. Had he not waited for me to check, I would have had to pay $300 for nothing. I'm so glad Angie's List exists so I can sing his praises.

Lance Aarstad responded and gave an estimate within 1 day. He explained how the system works and where the bait stations would be placed. They provided excellent service calling each month prior to the scheduled visit and maintenance of the termite bait stations. Honest and reliable service.

After phone tag for a few days we were able to set up an appointment for the inspection. Dave came in during the window period. He was extremely courteous, clear, and professional. The pick-up of the animals caught went very well.

The experience was great. The technician explained that squirrels were territorial, so that even though there were hundreds of squirrels in our trees, only one family had staked out our roof. The squirrels who called our eave home were trapped and Dave installed a metal barrier so no more could return. He was easy to reach, easy to understand, and reasonable.

We had termites in our garage. They gave me a phone consultation and price and were very prompt in answering my two calls. They were right in the right price range, but we went with someone in the neighborhood.

I had to have them come out several times to get them to take care of the problem. I wasn't really that happy with the results. They could have done a better job. The did finally take care of the problem right. The tech was a wonderful guy.

Technician arrived on time and removed nest as promised.

I was very pleased with the service. We were prepared to pay the $175.00, but he was professional enough to suggest that we try to solve the problem on our own. I was also impressed because I told him that I didn't like to use D-Con because the mice die inside the house and then smell very bad. He told us how to place the boxes so that the mice would be more likely to die outside. It worked!

They were prompt in returning my call and arriving ro do the work as scheduled. I felt they worked in an efficient manner and their work was generally satisfactory but I wish that they had allowed me more options for the type of screws, screening and caulk used on the vents. There supply selection was limited. They also returned to remove screening from a vent when the owner felt birds were still present (they were not).

Appointment made to come out in a reasonable amount of time- service man called 1/2 hour prior to arrival & showed up at the indicated time. Service was performed very thoroughly & the service man came back to tell me about a couple of plants around the house that could be attracting the bugs & cause the problem.

My call was taken and I was put on a speaker phone with Yvette and John. John did not introduce himself and just started talking. I found this to be a very unprofessional way to handle a customer's call. They apparently visited my apartment to give an estimate (it was a bed bug infestation) and I was contacted ONE WEEK later. I told John that I didn't understand how he thought contacting me one week later was sufficient. We went with another company as the problem was urgent.

Excellent service. They came and did an estimate and then installed the two traps that day. Came back within hours when we called to say that we had captured a squirrel. Made multiple trips to pick up squirrels and repair chimney. Rep was a trained wildlife biologist who helped educate us about squirrels, too! Highly recommend this firm, especially Ron Klann the person who actually called on us in Bolingbrook.

Great service and friendly technician. Checked all 4 corners under the roof and sealed them all. Told him that only 2 of the corners I could hear the birds, but he checked all areas. Highly recommend.

THE QUOTE FOR ANT TREATMENT WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE OTHER TWO COMPANIES WE CONTACTED. WE ENDED UP TREATING THE PROBLEM OURSELVES.

PROMPT, COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL. DID NOT TRY TO OVER-SELL SERVICES.

OVERALL, WE ARE PLEASED WITH THE WORK. THEY DID A THOROUGH CHECK OF OUR HOME STRUCTURE, QUICKLY WIPED OUT THE TERMITES, AND ARE COURTEOUS DURING EACH OF THE MONTHLY CHECKS.

WHEN THE FIRST TECHNICIAN CAME OUT, HE NOTED THAT IT WAS AN ACTIVE HIVE, BUT DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER EQUIPMENT TO CUT DOWN THE HIVE AND BRANCH AND WE NEED TO PURCHASE THE LONG-ARMED CUTTER OURSELVES. HE CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY, CUT DOWN THE NEST (WITHOUT ANY PROTECTIVE GEAR, WHICH WAS A LITTLE DISCONCERTING) AND WAS ON HIS WAY. WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS WE SAW THAT A PIECE OF THE NEST REMAINED ON THE BRANCH AND THE BEES WERE BUILDING AGAIN. WE CALLED SMITHEREEN BACK AND SPOKE TO A MANAGER WHO SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE US ANOTHER $125 FOR A SECOND CALL. WE CANCELLED THE FIRST CHECK AND SPOKE WITH THE OWNER TELLING HIM THAT WE ARE HAPPY TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE, BUT THAT IT NEEDED TO BE COMPLETED IN FULL. THE OWNER WAS VERY RESPONSIVE, SENDING OUT ANOTHER TECHNICIAN WHO DID A VERY NICE JOB AND EVEN TOOK DOWN ANOTHER NEST HE FOUND BEING BUILT UNDER OUR ROOF. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN, BUT WOULD NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THE OWNER DIRECTLY IF NOT SATISFIED WITH WORK.

THEY CAME A FEW DAYS AFTER WE CALLED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS A BIT ALOOF AND SAID MICE WERE IN THE ATTIC. HE PROCEEDED TO PUT POISON THERE AND CHARGED US $150. ALSO SAID HE WOULD COME BACK IF WE HEARD ANYTHING IN A COUPLE WEEKS. WELL, I HAVE TO ADD HE DID NOT CHECK THE BASEMENT OR ANY OTHER AREA OF THE HOME, WHICH I WOULD EXPECT FOR THE FEE THAT COVERS HIS "INSPECTION". I HAD TO CALL BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO GET HIM TO STOP BY FOR 2 MINUTES AND CHECK WHERE HE SHOULD HAVE THE FIRST TIME. WE WOULD NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, NOT THOROUGH AT ALL.

THEY WERE RIGHT ON IT, AND UNDERSTOOD THAT WE DID NOT WANT TO LIVE WITH ANTS! IN GENERAL I WAS VERY PLEASED. THEY TOOK THE PROBLEM SERIOUSLY, TOOK CAUTION, AND WERE VERY RESPONSIVE!

THE SERVICEMAN FROM SMITHEREENS MET ME AT THE BUILDING, FOUND HIS WAY INTO THE ATTIC (THROUGH AN OPENING WE FOUND WHILE HE WAS THERE). BY HIS ESTIMATION, PIGEONS HAD BEEN LIVING IN THE ATTIC FOR 6 TO 7 YEARS. HE REPEATEDLY IMPRESSED UPON ME HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS TO GET THE PIGEONS REMOVED AND RESOLVE THE SITUATION DUE TO THE HEALTH RISKS. HE SAID HE WOULD ARRANGE FOR HIS BOSS TO SEE THE ATTIC BEFORE GIVING A QUOTE AND LEFT (AS I LEARNED AFTER HE LEFT BECAUSE A PIGEON CAME THROUGH INTO THE BUILDING). IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A MONTH SINCE HIS VISIT. I CALLED ABOUT SIX TIMES AND WAS GIVEN A VARIETY OF REASONS WHY THEY HAVE NOT MADE IT BACK YET (MOSTLY RELATED TO 'THE BOSS' BEING ON VACATION). I DON'T KNOW WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON, BUT I WILL NOT BE CALLING THESE GUYS AGAIN.

THE PERSON CAME BY, LOOKED THROUGH THE BUILDING, AND SAID IT WOULD TAKE THREE MONTHS TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM. WE NEEDED TO PAY $175 STARTER FEE + 70/MONTH. THIS SEEMED REASONABLE, BUT WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO SIGN THE CONTRACT, I REALIZED THAT IT REQUIRED 12 MONTHS OF SERVICE! WHEN I SAID THAT I DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR 12 MONTHS WHEN HE TOLD ME I ONLY NEED 3, HE BECAME RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY. FINALLY, I JUST ASKED HIM TO LEAVE.

I HAD TO CALL AND RE-SCHEDULE AND THE WOMAN ON THE PHONE WAS NOT VERY PLEASANT, SHE SAID SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK BUT SHE NEVER DID. SHE HAD A REAL UNFRIENDLY TONE OF VOICE AND NEVER CALLED BACK.
