This is the second or third time we have used their service. We called on them again because we were happy about their quality of work when they installed our windows. They were very pleasant people to deal with. The people who came to our home were very knowledgeable and professional in every way. We plan on using them again in the future.

The salesman was very honest and professional, and he even told me what to look for in estimates from other companies. I had a good feeling about him and after I got some other estimates, I spoke to him about them and what they offered. He compared the estimates a bit in his honest opinion, and what stood out about Scientific was the positive comments on installation and their warranty is iron clad. The fellow who came to measure the windows was also very nice and honest, pointing out that the old windows had not been properly sealed, which was perhaps the bulk of the problem. When the installers came with the Scientific Windows, they were very courteous, and pointed out again the poor installation of the old windows (using newspaper as installation, etc.). I was informed all the way, and at the end, they did a bang up job cleaning up. They also took time to explain to me some of the intricacies of the window operation, and after they left, I could easily feel how much warmer the unit stayed. Billing was simple - I just put it on a credit card, and the gal who did the billing was also very nice. EXCELLENT company.

From start to finish (sales to installation) this process was great. The installers were a couple of minutes early. I hardly knew they were in my home. They cleaned up after themselves. The end product is really durable and quite attractive. We were very pleased with Scientific's professionalism and work ethic.

Very positive experience from beginning to end. Was the middle price of three estimates, worked with me to get closer to the lowest (I went with Scientific because their window frames featured more chambering, a small difference but enough to distinguish their custom windows). All windows were custom built locally, delivered by the crew right in the middle of the 4- to 6-week estimated time frame, and installed in a day and a half (we had estimated two full days). The crew was very polite, professional and punctual. They cleaned up very well (not 100%, but then I hadn't expected a perfectly dust and debris-free aftermath!) and the windows themselves have been a godsend. It's only been a month and a half but so far, winter hasn't been so bad without the drafts. They look great, operate smoothly and generally improve quality of life in our home. Plus, the guys did an awesome job with the aluminum cladding/trimming outside so the exterior of the house looks great, too. All in all, they were not the cheapest (though a little discussion got them close) and they delivered a great product as promised and on time. Highly recommended.

Excellent experience!!! Let me start by saying that I went through a nightmare with another window company, which never completed the job (after having paid in full) and left me with poorly installed low-quality windows. It took almost 2 years trying to straighten the mess out, until I finally got money back with the help of the city. If you're trying to save money like I was, the ol' caveat holds true: you get what you pay for. Enter John Koloms of Scientific Window. John is extremely knowledgeable about windows, not to mention incredibly patient. I proceeded very cautiously this time, and met with other contractors over a period of months. Every time I called John back, he agreed to meet with me and then he patiently answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. He was really willing to work with me to help get this project completed. His kindness and integrity are rarely found. As for the project itself, it went very smoothly. I spoke with a couple of the crew members, and was impressed that they seemed to take actual pride in their work. Furthermore, Hilberto, the crew foreman, was also very kind. I was excited about the prospect of saving on heating costs with my new windows, but my door had areas where cold air was getting in. Hilberto kindly offered to put in some weather-stripping. We were happy with the estimate this employee gave, but we felt that we wanted to hold off on getting the window replaced. The house is really old, and there were some other offers that we were considering. The owner himself was the one who came over and followed up on it last week as well. He wrote us a note apologizing that we had chosen to go elsewhere and recommended some companies to us.

John (salesman) was our initial contact and he was great to deal with. The installation crew (very conscientious) completed the project on a Saturday which was great. We had a few small problems with a couple of the windows. There was a bit of a disconnect in getting someone scheduled to come out and correct the slight problems. Benjamin came out on a Saturday to evaluate and correct the small problems. Everything has now been completed. Everyone at Scientific Windows was very nice to work with.

When I first decided to replace the windows, I contacted several companies to come and give me quotes. All three companies were good, however I was most comfortable with the salesman from Scientific. He explained why his windows cost what they did and how they compared to other companies. He also did a great job explaining how the process would work and the time frame it would be done in. Most importantly, there was no hard sell. He seemed confident in his product and didn't need to use any sales tricks to get me go for it. When the windows arrived, several weeks later, the crew was really friendly and worked really quickly. They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Scientific wasn't the cheapest company I received a quote from, though I'm really happy with the windows and don't feel the money was wasted.

Went great - actually better than expected. I called Scientific and John came out for the estimate. Great guy, great Chicagoan, he's been around the city for a long time. This is true of the company as well. They have been doing windows since 1928 and are right up on the north side with local manufacturing. John explained everything very carefully and answered all questions in a comfortable manner. The price was lower than the other two bidders so I had him draw up the contract. After the deposit was made, manufacturing of our windows began with a 6-8 week estimate on the contract. The windows were ready in 3 weeks - outstanding. We scheduled the installation to meet our schedule demands and had absolutely no problem whatsoever with Scientific accommodating us. Installation was done by a crew of 5. They showed up exactly on time and got to work. During the installation process, one person's priority was to clean and sweep the interior after each window was installed, which was greatly appreciated. The installers were efficient and hard working, as well as helpful when I had questions. During the removal of two of the old windows, there was some minor dry wall damage (very minor) and the installers speckled the affected areas and even offered to do the touch up paint. I don't know where they get their installers from, but I wish every contractor had crews like them. I should also mention that there were no surprises, either in terms of installation time or cost. If there was one area of improvement that I had to choose for Scientific, it would be that they sometimes don't answer the main phone number. However, they do always call back, in almost all cases that same day. However, even this is not an issue because once the contract was signed, their cell phone numbers were provided so I never had any issue making direct contact once we were doing business. So, if you get a recording when setting up the initial estimate, I wouldn't get too concerned. Great job Scientific.

I met with John Koloms who went over exactly what my situation was and what my options were. He was polite and answered all my questions and took measurements. He then had another person from Scientific come out a few days later to re-check all the measurements so to make sure 2 sets of eyes had checked the dimensions. John told me it would take about 6 weeks, but it ended up only taking 3 which really impressed me.

My experience with them was wonderful. The gentlemen was very pleasant. He explained everything to me. If there was any other way to assist I would let them know.

So instead of taking the opportunity to sell me something I didn't need, they referred me to a company that would provide me with a lower cost. That is what impressed me-their honesty and integrity.

Went great. John was friendly and punctual. Unfortunately, his company didn't carry the windows in the color we needed (we live in an old condo complex with restrictions on what the windows can look like). He recommended a place where we could find some windows that would meet the criteria of our association, and suggested some other solutions.

We liked them, but received another quote that was much cheaper.

He was incredibly knowledgeable and skilled and does not take on projects that he can't handle. He installed storm windows.

I did not like that they were trying to up sell me for services I did not need.

Wonderful. I highly recommend this company. They always returned phone calls promptly and arrived on time for estimate, measurements, and installation. I had four off-center, rotting, wood windows that wouldn't open or close (on my enclosed porch) when I left for work in the morning. When I came home, the old ones had been removed and disposed of, and four very nice looking, energy-efficient vinyl windows were in their place. They cleaned everything up and must have vacuumed, as well, because my porch was perfectly clean, no dust or anything. They were always very professional and courteous; their windows and warranty are great! Product and service are definitely worth the price (especially for windows that are not standard-sizes).

My Wife and I chose to have our windows replaced in the middle of the winter before our new baby was born. We met with John who assured us that the windows we chose were great and that it would make a huge improvement on efficiency, and looks. He was so right. These are some of the best windows ever. They are beautiful with the enclosed prairie grids, too! John made sure we were happy by following up with us and making sure that all our needs and expectations were met. We will definitely use them again in our next home and recommend them to our friends. Also they came back and reinstalled all of our mini blinds on the windows upon our request.

They recommended a glass company, saving me bundles over estimates I received.

I called Scientific (based on their high ratings on Angie's List) to have them repair the frame. They were courteous on the phone. When I explained the problem, they referred me to a former employee who opened his own business, because the work would be very expensive for them to perform on window that they did not install. I was very impressed that they would refer the work out, especially to support their former employee. If we need to replace our odd-sized windows, they'll be the first business I call.

They were great. All the people I dealt with at Scientific were nice to work with from the sales staff to the installers. The windows look good and the price was competitive.

Scientific Window did a great job replacing the windows. Since we wanted ours to match our neighbors, they had them in stock and were ready to install them. They did a good job cleaning up and the final work looks very good.

The salesperson was a super nice guy. He was informative, gave me a fair price and they seemed to carry a nice vinyl window. However, the price was much higher than another Angie's List company and they provided Pella Duracast windows at a lower price because of a Pella promotion. Otherwise I would have chosen this company and will ask them for an estimate in the future when I redo our building windows.

Scientific Windows has been in business in Rogers Park for many years so we were familiar with their name. The estimate and measurements were taken in June. The windows were installed in August. The installers came just as I was leaving for work at 8 AM. My husband said they were done sometime before 10 AM. The curb appeal of our house is much improved by the neat job that was done. It took some time to have the windows made but it was worth it. We're using less air-conditioning because the windows are well caulked and no longer allow drafts in. When we're ready to replace the storm windows on the rest of the house, we'll definitely call Scientific Windows.

Jon spent about 30 minutes with me and gave some great advice on how to proceed with my remodeling. He saw the big picture and suggested a better approach, knowing it would cut himself out of the process. He was honest, patient, helpful with all my questions, and completely professional. When the time comes to replace the windows in my house, Jon will be the first person I call.
