The young man was pleasant, helpful and did not rush. He explained what he was doing so that we felt comfortable the work was correctly and safely done.
Description of Work: The electrician came out to the house at the time promised. He fixed a line that constantly blew the fuse because the Microwave, refrigerator, washer and dryer were on the same line. He had my husband turn on most of the items to check that the "fix" could safely serve all of the the appliances. Also solved the mystery of a light fixture that wouldn't work. That proved to be a quick and easy thing -- the contact to the bulb was bent too flat to make contact with the bulb.

Javier gave the estimate. Because I had worked with ESG previously, I scheduled the work and provided a 20% deposit check that he took back to the office. I received a mailed receipt within two days. Javier arrived within 1/2 hour of the scheduled time. Because he had given the estimate, he already knew what the jobs were supposed to be. He completed all work as specified while taking extra care to not track up the house and clean up after the work. It was an all-around good job.

Description of Work: I phoned ELECTRICAL SERVICES GROUP in the morning with a problem with a breaker and had an electricial at the house by 3pm. ESG's Maciej completely understood the multiple problems involved with the 220V heaters and efficiently corrected all of them to my complete satisfaction. This tech is really good, BTW.
Description of Work: 220V heater troubleshooting/corrective wiring on 7 Intertherm units, plus corrective wiring on 5 110V lights and one outlet. Three heaters were completely rewired from the outside.

It went great. I called them and they sent out a tech the next day. He was prompt, knowledgeable and professional I would definitely use them again (this is the second time we used them this month already!).
Description of Work: Called them to install a dedicated circuit for a sump and install an outlet in a guest room. They were so prompt and professional (Kevin). In the end we decided to put off the dedicated circuit. The price was better than I thought it would be in the end - but we decided to put it off. We will probably do that job soon. We did have the outlet installed. The price for the extra outlet was a little high but not after I applied a $25.00 coupon they gave me last time I used them. They also offer $15.00 coupon that you can print through Angie's list.

They came on time. Quickly diagnosed the problem. He (Maciej) fixed the problem. He took a credit card and left us with the confidence the job was done right.
Description of Work: These guys were amazing. Our house is wired with a very old fashioned system that uses low voltage switches to activate normal light fixtures that run of standard 110V current. This "low voltage switching system" was very "high tech" and desirable for about 5 years starting in 1959. Our house was a "pioneer". The result is that it is very hard to find electricians who are knowledgable in these old systems. Our system is even worse because most systems like this are centralized into a "panel" but our system is spread out all over the house with the "relays" at the "point of use" and transformers which power the relays scattered around the house. This all makes it more complicated and has left less experienced electricians scratching their head. Macieg Mucha - the tech who came to our house was extremely knowledgable and he very quickly zeroed in on the problem. He found a broken circuit which turned off power to the transformers which power our "low voltage switching." He did all this in less than an hour and with the lights off! I can only imagine how well he would have done with a more normal system and with the lights on! These guys are smart, professional punctual and very smart. I would recommend them very highly - especially for "hard jobs" - or any time you want an electrician you can really rely on. Call Maciej!

Of the thousands of feet of wiring and conduit and the multitude of electrical devices they installed, since the work was completed 9 mnths ago, nothing has been found to be faulty. In other words the workmanship was excellent. They were extremely punctual and worked nonstop throughout the project. Tom, the owner has put together a superb team and is a master electrician himself. He has a global understandinng of electrical systems.
Description of Work: They replaced the entire electrical system of my apartment building. . During the work, they determined that a special need for my project was coordinating the work in the individual units and giving proper notice. They met this need superbly. They also handled the city permit process and met with the city inspectors as necessary.

I had a long list of electrical work to do (replacing half a dozen outlets and light switches, plus a single line not getting any power) but once I was told the flat rate for "trouble shooting" - which didn't include fixing the problem, and the flate rates for replacing each of the outlets and switches, I was so turned off that I only had them do the trouble shooting for the line without power. Turned out to be a loose fuse that took five minutes to find and tighten for which I was charged over $200. After the serviceman left, I called the company and asked to speak to the manager, Tim. Two days later someone from "customer service" returned my call. Not only was this not the person I left the call for, but they had no electrical knowledge (didn't know what was involved in replacing a light switch) nor had any knowledge of pricing - though I had explained to the woman that took the message exactly what I was calling about. Tim never did return my call.

Went great. Machek arrived on time (actually early) and explained everything that needed to be done and how much it would cost to do it. I liked that because it's hard to get time off work to get 3 estimates and time off again to have the job done. After reading the reviews on the list, I pretty much made up my mind that I would hire them. And I was right to do so. It was just great that there were no surprises at the end. Also, he really liked my dog, which is important to me.
Description of Work: Two indoor fixtures were replaced , one outdoor fixture was replaced and three switches were replaced, one with a dimmer.

Andy came out, took broken fan out & said he would look for a new one in the same size (ours had a small housing area) & get back to me. The next day they called & said they had one & we set up a date to install it. They actually wanted to come sooner, but I was unavailable. He came, installed the new one & left the bathroom very clean. He was done instlaling it in about 1/2 hour. Everything was efficient & organized. Andy was very nice & personable.

Not good. I was not happy and I will probably not call them again.
Description of Work: Our compressor in the fridge had gone bad and after every couple of minutes it was trying to start. That was causing an audible vibration sound in the basement electrical pipes. So we called ESG based on their reputation from Angie's List. I appreciate thay they were able to come on the same day, but it hardly took them 20 minutes to figure out what was wrong and they charged $150 for that. That is outrageous. When I called them for service they told me they have a flat rate of $190 that includes checking all the outlets and circuit breakers. But when they came to the house they just checked 2 outlets. I think they knew right away what was wrong, but they just took time to check 2 outlets so they can charge huge money. When they were done they initially asked for $195 then reduced it to $185, but I told them it is very high for such a small amount of time and he said it is the flat rate. I agree that I had agreed on the flat rate, but that included checking all the outlets and the circuit breakers. I guess they were counting the driving time from Niles to our house in southwest suburbs. Anyways, I just feel that $150 for 20 minutes is ridiculous. They should charge by hour and not flat rate. Average rate for an electrician is $65/hour.

Maciej was very nice and descriptive. He explained everything before performing it and let me know about options. He also let me know about work our upstairs neighbors had completed (same layout), so we could consider it as well. Nice to have someone so familiar with our building and wiring. Kind of weird that he planted a "another great job by E&S" sign in front of our building when he was done without telling me - only negative and a very minor thing.
Description of Work: Frunished and installed 2 surge protectors for flat-screen TVs mounted on walls. Also, added new outlet to "hide" cords for one of the TVs. For free, Maciej also flipped one of my switchplates in a bathroom so that the first switch operated the light and not the fan.

I think they were voted number one in 2008 on Angie?s List. I called them and they were available the next day. I didn?t have them fix any of the issues because the buyer is supposed to do that - I did refer them to the buyer though. They were very professional and efficient, and the people in the office were nice. I had a couple of questions and they answered them. They provided me with an itemized response to the inspection report. They checked all the areas in question and addressed everything on the inspection report.
Description of Work: Since I was selling my condo, the buyer needed a walk-through to make sure that everything was in working condition. There were some electrical issues and so I had Electrical Services Group come out and give me an estimate.

We originally had an appointment scheduled about a month in advance for a Saturday morning. Nobody showed up, and worse, nobody bothered to call to tell us that they wouldn't be making it. We called every available number with noone picking up, and nobody calling back. We called on Monday and spoke to the woman in charge of the scheduling, who told us that the electrician who was supposed to come out had called in sick and it threw everything off for the day. She was very apologetic. We understood, but would have definitely appreciated a call about it so we weren't just sitting here waiting. Andy came out the following week and installed what we needed for a washer and dryer in the main floor. It went great, he was very knowledgeable and did a great job. Thanks. ESG also gave us a discount for being Angies List members, so that was awesome, it paid for our membership this year.
