We are sorry that you felt the need to leave this review after so many years. We understand that we can not please everyone all of the time and we accept critical feedback as we are a service business. We have been around since 1956 so we have and still are providing good service to our customers. First of all your date is incorrect. We serviced you in Oct of 2011 and then one more time in Nov 2011. NOT March 31st of 2013 which happens to be a Sunday and your service call was not even an emergency. I am really sorry to bring this to your attention but as the notes were stated, you refused to pay the service call that was $150, NOT $200 as you claimed you paid. So you got the Date and the Cost all wrong. Perhaps you got the Company wrong too. Thank you for reconsidering this post.

Description of Work: Brilliant Electric was the least professional, cost effective and customer friendly of any vendor that I have used in upgrading my home. The only reason they came back multiple times was because I wanted them to finish and/or fix the issues that they were originally called to do. The end game happened when their manager told me via phone that they would not gaurantee their work.

We understand your frustration as we deal with all kinds of customers on a daily basis. We can't make everyone of our customers happy all the time but we try. This is a difficult business since most look at the need for us as an inconvenience. Money they really don't want to spend and I totally agree as the manager and a customer, when needing home repair, however necessary at the time it's not like you are taking a vacation or something of pleasure. So it's hard on our end to ensure you that our licensed, bonded and insured company since 1956 is a reputable family owned company that only wants to satisfy our customers. Please accept our apologies for any misunderstanding, we do guarantee our labor and manufacture guarantees the equipment so our office can not and will not ever say we do not guarantee for we do 100% guarantee our labor as any company does. Dear(Member name removed), Unfortunately for us your comment is to the wrong company. We did service you, but it was November 1st, 2011 to replace a few switches and you only paid $175.00. We have never been to your home anytime after. So your Oct 13th 2012 was not our company. We do not have you on our schedule (Saturday) nor do we have a payment from you for $250. You obviously inadvertently confused us with another company. I urge you strongly to review your records and please retract your comment and grade. We have serviced customers since 1956 and have many positive, satisfied customers. We rely on our customers and are 100% guaranteed, if there is anything that is uncertain or a customer is not satisfied, we are there to make it right. Hope this can be settled.

Description of Work: In the process of selling my condo in Chicago, I used Brilliant to give me an estimate regarding an electrical issue. They gave me an estimate of the work to be done but I did not have them do it. The buyer selected the electrical company to do the work - upgrade electrical outlets in bathroom. |The date was June 2009.

We can understand your frustration but we have been around since 1956 and made our family owned company proud. Unfortunately your comment is a bit inaccurate.... first, we always give upfront pricing for you to decide if you want the work done or not. 2nd, you used a Barter Company to utilize our service, please understand, if you were to shop around within that organization, we are competitive and not over priced by any means. When it comes to barter (and you are award of how Barter works) and a service such as our, the pricing is on a completely different scale and your review is not fair since you didn't use Cash, you used Barter Money. Any company that has to make the trip to a home or business, has to use gas, wear and tear on the vehicle, time of the tech and his expertise, this is the overhead that a company has to incur on a daily basis, when you pay with barter dollars, that is where the difference in the cost comes in. Your business, people come to you and your overhead is minimal. I am sure you understand how your review is not accurate.

Horrible.
Description of Work: They showed up for the appointment but needed additional supplies. The technician failed to show up for the ne xt 2 appointments . When a different electrician showed up he installed the switches and replaced light fixture, asked them to replace a fire alarm and they said they would at no charge. 10 minutes after they left the smoke detector started beeping. I called the electrician back 10 minutes after he left my. House and re refused to come back because this was not part of the original scope of work. So the smoke detector beeped for 2 hours until they came back to disconnect it. ( another electrician later explained to me that the smoke detector they installed was not compatible with the other hard wired detectors in our house). They were to also fix the wiring or switches of 2 additional existing fixtures. They fixed only one of the 2 fixtures. Throughout the process they were rude and unprofessional. Obviously after rudeness, not showing up, and simply not performing the work hired to do, I would not hire them again. They charged 175. To replace a fixture which is twice as much as the next electrician I hired.

Description of Work: Made an appointment to get an estimate for the installation of outdoor security lighting at our condo building. When I made the appointment there was no mention of a $40 charge for estimates (even for Angie's List members.) Decided to use a different company. UPDATE - 2/29/12 A representative from Brilliant Electric called me to explain that there was some miscommunication in that I was not told about the $40 charge for estimates. They offered a gift certificate redeemable towards their services. I appreciated the follow-up as this shows a consideration towards customer service but with so many companies providing free estimates I don't think charging for estimates is a wise business practice, especially in the current economy.

I didn't hire them.
Description of Work: Had Brilliant come in to give an estimate to install 3 puck under cabinet lights. Estimate to install 3 small lights and a switch was $800. I knew I was in trouble when the electrician commented on the size of my house, but to plain out price gouge was ridiculous. I had this exact same thing done on another house 2 years ago, paid an electrician $150.

Description of Work: Javier arrived to my house a few minutes late. He called before he arrived. He was VERY professional, friendly, and informative. We went through my list of concerns and he covered everything with estimates and ideas about troubleshooting. I thought he was excellent and I will defnitely use this company for electrical needs in the future. The only cost that threw me for a loop was installing a tiny chandelier. Since they would need to create a box- it would be over 600.00. The fixture was 124.00 so I think I will search around for another person to install, but other than that, it was a good experience.

Description of Work: Left very specific message for contact listed on Angie's list to perform electrical work at my house that would have amounted to approximately a $1,000 project for this vendor. 4 days later, zero response. I am Vice President at a company that holds service and responsiveness above all other characteristics, and to not only have this type of service, but in an economic time when you think all organizations would be extra-hungry to prove their value is astounding to me. Maybe they're a great company, but an organization does not return calls to a customer interested in using their services is baffling to me.
