They called 15 minutes before to say they were coming, were very clean and polite, listened patiently, and gave several recommendations on how the disposal could be installed. Pricey, but prompt, polite, and pleasant.
Description of Work: Replaced bathroom light switch which had arced. Estimated cost of electrical installation for disposal and replacing track lighting.

George was very competent, and we were especially pleased with the work he did hiding all the cables from our new television in the ceiling. We had one issue regarding the canister light- he had it working while he was there, but later, after he left, if was out again. The company put us in touch with George who talked my husband through the necessary steps to get the light working properly. The light now works, and in terms of payment for his work, George said he only spent five minutes working on that light. That seemed like a short time to us, but we did not pursue the matter further. If the light malfunctions again, then we'll call the company to resolve this. They are a very accommodating, no hassle, pleasant company to deal with. This was a good referral.
Description of Work: George installed new outlets, two bathroom wall sconces, and also hid all the wiring from our new TV and all the related cables up in the ceiling. He also tried to fix a canister light that wasn't working. This work was done over the course of two visits.

Service tech called to say he was running a few minutes late (before he was actually late). Also advised us to buy our own outlets to save money, which we did. He wore booties over his boots in the house to protect carpet. Good overall experience. I would use again. I'm sure there are cheaper options, but was worth the money.
Description of Work: Installed new GFCI outlets. Installed new circuit breaker and re-wired a double tapped breaker.

ESG responded quickly to our request for a consultation, and Tom arrived as promised, providing clear information about the work that needed to be done and the cost. The technician, Dorin, also arrived as promised, was very polite, completed all the work on time, consulted with us throughout, and was courteous to our home and belongings. He worked hard. The entire process from the initial phone call to the completion of the work took only about five days. The price was perhaps a bit high, but we were willing to pay for the quality of the work and the customer service. We would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: As part of our house remodeling we had several existing outlets in our kitchen repaired, several new outlets installed in the cabinets, additional new outlets installed in the walls, and other miscellaneous wiring brought up to code. We also had a wall light switch removed in the basement and a new hanging light fixture installed. This constituted one full day of work.

I was quite suprised at the price for materials. 20 feet of wire for each of the 3 rooms and 3 boxes for the ceilings cost almost $500! After speaking with other professionals, the resounding reply was that the materials were WAY overpriced.
Description of Work: They ran wires and installed boxes for 3 ceiling fans in 3 different rooms (I am installing the fans myself). The worker was on time, but for a job that was thought to take 3-5 hours took all day. The worker was on time, polite and cleaned up afterwards.

THIS CUSTOMER CONTACTED US AND THEN CANCELED TO EXPLORE OTHER PRICING. HE RESCHEDULED WITH US, BASED ON OUR RATE. THE ELECTRICIAN MET WITH HIM AND DISCLOSED THE DIFFICULTY OF THIS JOB AND THE FACT THAT IT WOULD BE A TIME CONSUMING JOB, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE 3 FAN BOXES TO BE INSTALLED WERE ON A 2ND FLOOR WITH NO ATTIC ACCESS. THE WALLS IN THIS HOME ARE PLASTER AND LATHE, WHICH TAKES MORE TIME TO GET THROUGH. THE PRICE OF MATERIALS WAS HIGH DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PRICE OF COPPER HAS INCREASED 300% IN THE LAST 180 DAYS. OUR ELECTRICIAN ACCOMPLISHED A DIFFICULT JOB WITH MINIMAL DESTRUCTION AND THE CUSTOMER SEEMED VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK PREFORMED.

The electrician was prompt, thorough, and explained each of the three issues carefully along with what needed to be done. He completed the work in a timely fashion and was courteous and efficient. One item did not need to be done and was perfectly safe the way the fuse box had been wired before. He assured us that the wiring was safe and there was no need to spend more money chasing an issue that did not need to be addressed. The person who made the appointment on the phone was very professional and courteous as well. I was very satisfied with this company.
Description of Work: I recently purchased a condo in Chicago and 2-3 electrical issues came up during the inspection. Following closing and moving in, I contacted this company to check out these items to see what, if any, needed to be fixed.

They were able to come out within a week of my initial call. Polite on the phone and were familiar with the type of work we were asking to be completed. The electrician completed the work while I was not at home. Electrical Services Group followed up with a phone call to see if we were satisfied.

They charge $39 for an estimate / consultation, which will be applied to the invoice. I understand their time is valuable, as is mine. I would have no problem with this policy if the work was minor. Unfortunately, I don't think this job is minor. They are the only electrical company that I've contacted from Angie's List that has this policy. I wanted them to bid the job based on the ratings and I'm a little disappointed in this upfront charge.

He was on time and very professional. It took him some time to assess the issues with the 1st floor unit and he initially charged me and extra $85 for one hour's worth of work that he only did 20 minutes of, but then reduced the price. He also showed me how to obtain a part on my own and said that it would save me money.

Mixed emotions. Two man team came out Friday. Nice guys, cleaned up after themselves, etc. After they started working the house lost power several times. I was told our existing panel (installed 1978)was in the process of going bad. About noon I asked if they should stop working and replace the panel. The answer was no, it would be ok, they'd finish up and provide a quote for another day. Within 20 minutes of the electrician's driving away (and $1400 bill) the breakers started tripping. Eventually 1/2 the house lost power. Long story short, Tom sent someone out Saturday to bypass the main breaker and Monday the panel was replaced. On one hand Tom's team did work as requested. Old panel failing was not their problem. At the same time I can't help be disappointed everything seemed worse after they left Friday. I suspect that if they had stopped when they began having problems with the panel and replaced it then, my bill would have been less than it ended ($4000). All's fine.
Description of Work: Requested a new circuit be run to kitchen, fix power to oven, split one circuit into several as too many appliances drawing from one circuit and label box. Ended up with all the above and a new electrical panel, new ground, some new wiring. Before the electricians came the house's power worked fine, with the exception of the overloaded circuit occasionally tripping a breaker and another breaker on an oven not working.

During the installation of our new roof, roofers pinched some wires already in disrepair, temporarily shutting down the electricity to our townhouse and destroying the wiring to our air conditioner. This repair job was difficult to schedule b/c out rooftop is only accessible through a neighbor's home. Electrical Services office staff and George (the electrician) were amazingly responsive and flexible in getting this scheduled as quickly as possible. They even rearranged scheduling on their end to make it happen. George completed this 4-hour job on time. He wore shoe covers in my house (which I love!) and was courteous and thorough. It was a pleasure to deal with Electrical Services Group and I will employ them, with confidence, for all future electrical projects.
Description of Work: Replaced all old wiring and piping for A/C unit on roof. Installed outside box and new disconnect switch on roof as well.

They came with standard switch plates in a single color inappropriate for older homes and said other choices would have to be ordered but this information could have been given ahead of time so customer had time to choose and order alternatives. Also, one ceiling light had a dimmer which seemed to have a mind of its own. The technicians did not explain the working of the switch-activated dimmer, and did not offer to make adjustments when there seemed to be signal interference. Only by telephoning the manufacturer did we find out how to adjust the settings.
Description of Work: Contracted with Electrical Services Group to rewire condo and install 8 new ceiling fixtures. Estimate was for up to 8 full man-days work and they only needed 5, but they did not reduce the price accordingly. However, they did agree to come back the following week at no extra charge to install the one ceiling fixture that had not been delivered.

WE FEEL WE BENT OVER BACKWARDS FOR THIS CUSTOMER AND MOST OF OUR CUSTOMERS ARE HAPPY IF WE FINISH A JOB EARLIER THAN ANTICIPATED. OUR GUYS WORK VERY HARD AND SOMETIMES THEY CAN FINISH QUICKER.
