I'm very pleased with the service from my initial call for an appointment onward. I received a appointment within a day, and was quoted the pricing schedule upfront. The electrician arrived on time, was courteous, explained everything, worked quickly, had the parts I needed available in his truck, and tidied up when finished.
Description of Work: I had a problem with a bathroom light switch. They furnished and installed a combo switch/GFCI receptacle.

I spoke to Paula at this company and she provided excellent service in setting up an appointment for me quickly. I explained my problem and concern that I did not have a dimmer on hand to use as a replacement. She informed me that was not a problem as the electricians always have dimmers in their truck. "George" arrived and spent an hour fixing what seemed to be a complex wiring system for the dimmer. After that problem was solved, he spent approximately 30 minutes trying to find the correct dimmer for my light including making telephone calls to see if the dimmer he had would work. The answer was no. I was surprised that he charged me for the 30 minutes he spent looking for the dimmer and left, leaving me with no dimmer and a bill of $202.00. Based on the great comments on Angie's and their high charges ($145/first hour and $52/every 30 minutes thereafter), I expected much better service . . at the very least, for George to tell me he'd return and finish the job . . no such thing without paying more. I spoke to Tom, the owner, who said they couldn't carry every type of dimmer on the truck-totally understandable. What I resent is being charged $52 for the search and I now have to purchase the dimmer myself and find someone else to install it. Tom offered me the pathetic solution of doing so at a "reduced" rate of $80+. Even though I told Paula I found their company name on Angie's, I wasn't even offered the dollars off for that referral and I can only assume that this company is no longer the type of company it used to be to earn the type of awards I read on Angie's List.

My appointment was set up for 12:00 p.m. I was at home and available at both phone numbers I had given as contact numbers. At 12:30, when no technician came and I had not received a call, I called the company. I was told that the person assigned to the job was running late and that they would arrive by 2:00. At 2:30 I received a call saying that they would arrive in 30 minutes (now 3 hours late). The technician arrived and I showed him both projects. Immediately upon seeing the garage project he said that it was very complex and that he could not do it today as it would take several hours. I thought to myself that if he had arrived on time perhaps he could have gotten the work done. The ceiling light took 20 minutes to complete as I made sure to provide all of the materials. Essentially I paid $145.00 for a 20 minute project. Ironically, before he left the technician kept asking me when I would schedule the garage project. I told him that I would have to call at a later time as I would be out of town and took the day off to have the work done. I have no intention of using this vendor for the next project. As he drove away I noticed that the side of the truck said, "Awarded for excellence in customer service." This customer received miserable service.
Description of Work: When I called to schedule the appointment, several days in advance, I clearly explained the scope of the work to be done - install a new ceiling light in place of an existing one and a new installation of a motion-sensor light on the garage. I was told that this would be fine. In the end, I paid $145.00 for a 20 minute job.

THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A LACK OF COMMUNICATION GOING ON BETWEEN YOU, OUR OFFICE AND TECHNICIAN AND WE FEEL HORRIBLE. APPARENTLY WHEN THE TECHNICIAN FINALLY GOT THERE, HE FELT THAT PART OF THE JOB REQUIRED A SECOND TECHNICIAN AND COULDN'T BE COMPLETED. The electrician was very nice and HONEST about everything that was wrong and had to be replaced. I was told what the first hour and subsequent half hour labor charges were before work started. He worked quickly and cleaned up after himself.
Description of Work: Furnished and installed two outlets to replace broken ones. Reset living room ceiling fan. Fixed dining room fan light (replaced bulbs for me-I couldn't reach it). Furnished and installed electrical box and GFCI receptacle to replace broken ones. Checked other outside electrical outlets to be fixed later.

I contacted the company and was given an estimate for the work that needed to be done. An appointment was scheduled. The technician, George, called to confirm the appointment time. He was prompt, courteous and answered all my questions. George was very tidy and picked up after himself upon completing the work. He was not able to repair a second pull chain light but was able to identify exactly what I needed so he could complete the job at a later date. George also identified a rocker switch that needed to be replaced.
Description of Work: Replaced dining room light fixture. Replaced Bathroom combo exhaust fan/light fixture. Replaced basement pull chain light fixture.

Very well. The scheduler making my appointment was very professional and I was able to make a Saturday appt for a slight up-charge. The technicians arrived on time, were very professional and asked a few questions about the job before getting their tools and going to work. They explained in advance that they might need to cut through the drywall on the ceiling to install a box for the fans, as none was existing. After exposing the joists in the ceiling, they explained to me what would be required and got my permission before proceeding. They worked steadily and were careful to keep things clean, laying down plastic and tarps under the work area. When they were done they vacuumed up any dust and showed me how to operate the fan controls.
Description of Work: They installed two ceiling fans in my master bedroom and guest bedroom.

It was a terrible experience. A wall caught on fire. They kept changing electricians. It was supposed to be done in four weeks and it took over four months. Other electricians came to check the job and they said that they just tacked things together they didn't do a good job. I would definitely not recommend them or use them again.

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t was a very good experience. They were prompt and thorough. It ended up being more difficult than originally thought because our building is so old, but they were up to the task. They were a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: They rewired our front entry hall and added 3-way switches and a new light fixture that was put all on a new circuit. They installed fluorescent fixtures in the basement with 3-way switches and installed an intercom doorbell system. They also put up a new ceiling fan in an already wired box.

From the moment I called to the moment the electrician left, everything was top-notch!!! The woman helping me on the phone was so nice and professional and took down a lot of information to make sure the outlet was installed in the correct position. The electrician was on time to the minute and was also very friendly and professional!!! I would higher ELC again in a second!!!

They called after they did the work to see if I was satisfied with how they did the work. I did have a problem with the bulbs being a little eschew. They sent someone out right away and were able to fix it. I wasn't disappointed with what I paid, although I probably could have paid less. But I feel that quality is more important than the price so I would use them again.
Description of Work: They installed some canned lights in my living room, a total of seven. They also put in the switches to go with the new lights.

My guys were prompt, polite and very, very thorough. I originally thought this project would be fairly quick and easy. Once they got started, the "creative electrical" in my old building (1906) led to an expanded job including having to run several new wires from the circuit box on the other side of my unit. They not only accomplished this without cutting walls or ceiling, but they also cleaned up/removed the rest of the crazy wiring so everything can be more easily managed in the future. I was consulted on solution/options prior to the work being done and given an idea of timing/costs so I could decide how to proceed. They also made some suggestions on placement of switches/outlets based on their experience with kitchen layouts. Their emphasis was on getting things done right and they clearly take a lot of pride in their work. My kitchen is now up to code, and the placement of everything is really convenient/efficient, partly as a result of their suggestions. They cleaned everything up completely before they left and even saved some of the drywall pieces so I could re-use them in patching. This is the second time I've used ESG, and I will definitely call them with any future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Re-wiring of kitchen during renovation; add/cap outlets, add switches, run wiring for under-cabinet lighting, move phone jack, bring appliance wiring up to code, adjust circuits for new appliance layout.

Shortly after calling ESG, the estimator, Bill, arrived. Bill was punctual, professional, patient and provided some helpful suggestions. A couple of days later, we received the estimate, and it was right where I expected. I called to schedule the work, and they fit us in within a couple days. The electricians, Maciej and Andy, arrived promptly at 7:00am, as scheduled, and began setting up on the day of the work. Both Maciej and Andy were also very considerate, professional and willing to work with all of my requests/adjustments with a smile on their face (I was definitely being high maintenance about placement of the canned lights). They covered everything with plastic, moved furniture, kept us apprised before doing anything permanent and did their best to minimize any damage to the walls, etc. in getting the cans installed. When the work was completed, they went over everything with us to confirm we were satisfied, and cleaned up nicely. We're thrilled with our experience with ESG.
Description of Work: Installation of 8 6" canned lights and 2 4" canned lights, repair/replace a non-functioning indoor/outdoor GFCI outlet, repair/replace a defective dimmer switch, and replace 4 other dimmer switches so that all are consistent.

ESG was the most professional company we met with, although they weren't cheap! A couple complaints I have about one crew member: because they didn't pay attention to parking restrictions they all got tickets the first day. This guy called my husband at work, wanting us to pay his ticket for him. Later, he pulled me aside to tell me that much more work needed to be done. But he wasn't trying to get ESG more work- he said he was going to be opening his own business in a few months. I felt he was taking advantage of a pregnant lady he thought he could scare into getting more work for himself. Not impressive. The new switches and outlets were set too far into the wall, so when we started hanging drywall, we had to pull the outlets and switches out, add extender boxes, etc. My husband and I thought that ESG should take care of that for us. They were very gracious in the end, fixed most of them, and left some supplies for us to do the few remaining.
Description of Work: Updated service from 30 amps, four fuses per floor on a 110 year-old three-flat building, installed grounded outlets to bathrooms, rewired kitchen, including grounded outlets, and outlets for washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher.

Quick service. Came when they said they would. Good communication. Estimate was on target, lower than some other companies-no surprises. Seemed efficient, answered questions well, helpful and patient with explanations and questions. Cleaned up well. The installer collected my check and did not seem to know about my deposit, but took my word for it. Everything has been fine. A pretty painless experience.
Description of Work: Rewiring of my first floor, replacement and installation of new outlets and fixtures, installation of new switches.

They arrived on time and did an excellent job with the work. They did a great job of limiting the amount of drywall damage required to add the additional outlet in the laundry room. I did receive lower estimates, but I felt the most comfortable with this group. I will call Electrical Services Group again for any future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Installed a dedicated electrical outlet under kitchen sink for a garbage disposal on a new circuit. Also installed an additional 4 plug outlet in laundry room.

On Saturday afternoon our first floor ceiling lights began flickering and by Sunday they had gone out completely. We weren't too worried about it and went about our business on Sunday until we came home to a very COLD house. My husband went to check it out and discovered that the boiler and lights were on the same circuit and hence when the lights went out so did the heat! On Monday morning I spoke to ESG at shortly after 9am (after calling a few other companies & referrals who couldn't help) and they told me they could have someone out within an hour. I received a call from Eugen at 10:00 and he was on my doorstep by 10:20. I should say that this was my first time dealing with the company so no special favors were being given. Eugen discovered the problem, solution and that dangerous wiring shortly after he arrived. It took 3 hours to repair and so far all has worked beautifully. He also quoted on the spot for rewiring work that we knew needed to be done in the future.
Description of Work: Separate breakers between boiler and first floor overhead lighting and replace cloth wire from fuse box to boiler. Eugene also discovered a very dangerous situation where live wires leading from an old fuse box were exposed to our 100+ year old wooden floor joists. He removed all wires from the fuse box and remediated the danger.

The scheduling was efficient and responsive. The electrician was very knowledgeable, explained the problem, and made the repair. In giving the estimate he made sure he understood exactly what we wanted and also explained what was required by building codes and what the city inspectors would be looking for. I felt very confident that the work he did, and any future work this company does for us, would be totally reliable. I thought the prices were very fair.
Description of Work: Checked the wiring of a kitchen outlet which another contractor had reported had a "loose live wire." There was no loose live wire, but the wiring had not been done properly, and the contractor fixed it. He also gave us an estimate on revising some of the house wiring. We have not yet acted on that estimate.
