Jerry came out as scheduled and was great. He was able to help with the gate and by suggesting a bigger post to hold it and I must say now that the fence is done I'm glad I went with his choice. Also helped with the style of shadow box. I went with the arch style and so happy I did...its hard to imagine what it would look like without truly seeing the life size style in my yard....must say it looks fantastic and it's so unique and no one else has this style yet on my block. Installation of the fence went great as well and they showed up on time and put the fence up faster than I thought it would take. They cleaned up after themselves and you would not even know they were there. Over all I love my new fence and would definitely use them again.

The whole experience was amazing! I was a bit shocked at the price at first but I was going from treated pine decking to cedar which is more expensive. From the time Ryan came out to estimate (we haggled over price just a bit and he was willing to negotiate) to the completed job today it was nothing short of professional. Ryan kept in touch as to the start date and they were here promptly. At the end of day one they had cleaned up everything and by the end of day two, you'd never know they were here - except for the beautiful new deck! Overall experience was awesome and I would use them again as well as recommend them highly!

The job took two days. They were rocking and rolling the first day. I couldn't believe how fast they went. The ended up getting 3 sides up before calling it a day. They finished the last side up the next day. For the most part, they managed to do the job with just two guys. They were fast and efficient, and the fence looks great.

These guys were excellent from the outset. Jerry came out to look at the property and provide an estimate. He had thoughtful ideas about where the fence should go and the design. The install was scheduled about 6 weeks out. It took 2 days with a 2-person crew. Very pleased.

They responded and scheduled appointment promptly. It looked like a new design for them, but I was impressed that they were ready to face the challenges with our custom design. The next day we received a quote, which had every detail that we discussed. Very impressive. We though that the price was fair compared to other companies. We signed the contract two days after. We asked them to wait until we finish our work in the backyard, since we needed to bring a Bobcat for that. They waited 2 months and were able to put us in a couple of weeks on schedule, which was pretty quick considering their work demand. They arrived promptly, worked professionally and very hard for 12 hours for two days. Three guys were in the main team and two more were bringing the boards. The quality of the wood is great and the fence looks very nice. We have got a bottle of wine from our neighbors when it was finished.

The project went well. I had wanted a high-quality cedar shed for years but big-box stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's don't sell sheds of cedar. I had seen kits available on the Internet but we are neither handy enough nor do we have the time to put one together. I found this company on Angie's List with an "A" rating. I am very pleased with the work. It's beautiful. There were some issues upon city inspection but the company addressed them. The only negative: After I emailed the failed inspection report, the company did not communicate with me for weeks. A company representative met on-site with the city inspector to discuss the issues, which I appreciated, but I wasn't told that this appointment was taking place. I was a bit surprised to find a company rep and city inspector at my home. When the company came by to do the minor fixes, they called ahead, and I appreciated that.

They came on time, did a great job, and worked efficiently. He was very pleasant and accomadating.

I believe enough time has passed in order for me to write an honest review as to the quality of the fence installed. A little background first...Being good consumers, my husband and I made sure to do our research prior to contacting Bob Jaacks Rustic Wood Fencing and Decor. Not only did we reference Angie's List, but we also got multiple quotes from other companies. Given the company's reviews and reputation, we felt confident in choosing them. With that being said, the installation went smoothly and the workers were professional. However, shortly after, we began to have problems with one section of the fence in particular. Admittedly, it seemed to take the brunt of the wind, which would cause the gravel board (the bottom board parallel to the ground) to pop away from the fence post. Picture a fence section blowing in the wind attached only at the top. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. When I called the office to inquire about a fix, I felt as though they were less than receptive. They did send someone out who told me it would be $80 to fix the issue!!! In fact, that guy said that we'd be better off fixing the fence ourselves! That is exactly what I did. Additionally, there are nail pops everywhere. It has become a spring tradition for me to walk the fence line with a hammer to beat down pops. The fence also has quite a few warped boards. Yes, we stain the fence regularly. Our latest issue is that we can't even use the gate leading to the alley. You need to pull up on the door, push, and hope the gate handle does not stick. Our neighbors had a fence installed two years ago by another company. Our fences are literally side by side along the alley. The difference in quality is night and day. Their's is sturdy and well constructed (without them having even stained or maintained it). We have been diligent in maintaining the fence and have not been so lucky. In retrospect, hundreds of good reviews mean nothing if you are the one person who is at the receiving end of inferior work.

Very happy with the product and the experience. Very friendly, knowledgeable, reliable folks. If we ever get fencing put up on the side of the yard, they'll be the first ones we call.

I will add how it proceeds once I make my final decision on whom to hire for my cedar fencing and two gates.

The job was excellent. We had used him once before so we knew they did good work and that's why we went to them.

I called a week ahead for an appointment. I spoke to a man who said the appointment would happen June 10, 14 between 8-9am. It is now 11:20 and NOTHING. I called them at 9:30am. I left a message. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK to I called them at 11 15. The woman who answered checked the schedule and said it was booked for 3:30. I assurred her this is incorrect since I could not be home in the afternoon. She said "I don't want to argue with you but he wouldn't book it early". I told her I would not use them and hung up. SERIOUSLY?????

I had a hard time deciding on a rating for this installation. The fences function and the structures are of good quality. But they are not what I requested. I provided a picture to the salesmen and the son of the owner when they came out to measure to provide quotes for this fence and a deck we wanted replaced. The owner?s son is in charge of the deck department and I give the deck service an A because I worked directly with Ryan (owner?s son) and his crew. For the fence between the yards I provided a picture of what I want to the salesperson. I don?t know official fence style terminology but I thought I was safe providing a picture of what I want so that I would receive what was in the picture. Now that I have researched it after the fact I know I provided a picture of a scalloped top fence with French Gothic posts and pickets that had just a simple point to them. The sales person wrote everything as French Gothic in contradiction to the picture provided. When the installation person started to install the fence he didn?t set the posts so the fence could be scalloped as shown by the picture and described on the quote I signed. We pointed this error out to the installer and Gina (one of the owners) and I assume the person in charge of the fence department. She refused to talk about the picture provided and only wanted to discuss the quote that was in error. But I didn?t know it was in error because I don?t know the difference between French Gothic vs. American Gothic vs. a slight point to the pickets. Gina clearly stated that I should have known better and the fence not being completed according to the picture I provided on day one is not their fault. The fence on the north side of the house I also provided a picture of what I wanted via email when asking for a revised quote. The picture had an even top. Our property has a slight slope to it. Rustic did not want to install the fence a consistent 6 feet from the ground, which is required by city of Chicago code. They initially insisted the fence had to be stair stepped or the top of the fence had to be level making it 8 foot tall at one end and 6 foot tall at the other end. Gina and I argued for about an hour about this issue. Eventually they installed the fence 6 foot tall for the entire 100 foot length of the fence. Gina tried to pull the same stunt of not referring to the picture but to the quote. The quote states 6 foot fence. It does not state stair stepped like they were trying to install. The last day the fence installers were working pretty late. They did not complete installing all the final trim pieces at the edges of the fence panels. They installed about 25% of the trim. Some of the trim pieces fell off the fence on the second day because they were not nailed to the fence just set in place. We showed Ryan the missing pieces a week ago and described the poor communications. We have not received any reply from the fence department about actually coming out to complete the finishing work.

The job went very well. After removing the old deck we discovered a big hole in the side of our stucco house. Rustic switched up the design so the new deck would not be attached to the house, eliminating the possibility that we would have the same issue going forward. Ryan provided great 3D renderings of the deck with the initial quote that helped us visualize the deck and helped us with making some changes to the design. Everything went smoothly and they finished in fewer days than was projected. We were very happy with the deck crew and would use them again. They are a definite A.

Excellent experience with Bob Jaack's! The process started with the estimator, Jerry. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. At this point of the process, i spoke to 3 other fencing companies and what he brought to the table was by far better than the rest. I am a new homeowner and new to the fencing game. Jerry walked me through the process, provided the options and made some awesome suggestions. I highly valued the knowledge and recommendations he brought to the table as I was seeking some expertise in the situation. I recently got the fence installed and couldn't be happier. The individuals who installed it were great. They were professional and quick, and most importantly, the fence looks great. Couldn't be happier with the service and product that Bob Jaack's provided!

It went very well. The builders came out and quickly surveyed the area, got rid of the old fence and put the old fence up in about three days. Which was remarkable given that it was January in Chicago.

They are well respected. I haven’t had personal experience with them. I had a free estimate from them. If I can afford them I would use them. They are very well regarded in this area. They were informative and prompt in giving me the estimate. I appreciated their ability to come out with a prompt estimate.

The fence is beautiful and sturdy and a lovely compliment to my home. I recommend Bob Jaacks for the large selection in fencing options to suit a variety of budgets. Randy Jaacks is a professional whom it was a pleasure to do business with.

The installers were on time, professional, explained what the work being done entailed and worked very hard to make sure the fence was installed by 7:00pm the same day.

I called for a quote and my call when straight to voicemail. I received a call back within 20 minutes. The woman was nice enough and answered all my questions, but her quote was more than $1100 more expensive than our cheapest quote. I told her I was obtaining other quotes and had to make a decision by 4/9/2014. She said to call back before I made my decision as she had some wiggle room within her quote. I did not call back, as they should have given me their best offer to begin with. I want a price, not to haggle. I went with a company I spoke with today that could do the job for $4200, no haggling.

Project went very well and was completed on time (+/- a day or two) and essentially right on budget (there were minor price changes because I requested additional items). Ryan Jacks supervised the project and was very professional and responsive. The crew consisted of 2 very meticulous workers. The site was cleaned up daily and the workmanship was outstanding. I am very pleased with the new deck.
