They did an excellent job. This is actually the second fence section they put in for me, it was about 50 feet long. It looks very nice, and they were a pleasure to deal with. I did a lot of research and they definitely look like the best vendor for my needs. I highly recommend them. The quality looks quite good. And I felt the price was quite fair/competitive. They were also willing to give me pricing over the phone which was nice. John

Sergio and his crew were wonderful. Prompt and polite the men cut back trees blocking the area the fence needed to go. They recognized the error in the estimated footage and promptly reported it to the head office. A compromise was made on the pricing of the additional fencing. The fence is lovely and I get lots of compliments. I would urge anyone who does get an estimate from Bob Jaacks to review the map with the estimator and not simply accept the footage he comes up with. The estimator was a nice gentleman but there was a misunderstanding of what I desired and thus the error in the footage used for the estimate. Despite this I would still recommend them.

Rustic fence made the process easy. They gave us an estimate, and although it was little higher than others, it turns out you get what you pay for and the new fence is gorgeous. They suggested a particular kind of fence that looks finished on both sides and its much better looking than I even expected. All of my neighbors have commented on how nice it is. They scheduled us in a timely manner and were flexible on the date. They arrived on time to perform the work. The team of three men building the fence were professional, answered all my questions, and worked hard all day. Everyone I interacted with in the company was helpful, polite, and professional. Best of all - they were easy to reach!

I am waiting for them to do this work and stressed I needed it done quickly before my fence falls. I have replaced a number of posts over the years and while that may be the norm, I do always ask that they check the entire fence for additional posts or boards that need replacing so it can all be done at one time but it doesnt seem like they actually do that. They were just out in January replacing 3 posts and this new replacement is the next one down from the January replacements.

Our gates do look nice, but we've had nothing but problems with them. A couple of boards have split, and the lock on one of them has fallen off (a lock for which we paid around $150). It takes the owners weeks, even months, to respond to our phone calls (that is, if they respond at all), and when they do it's only because we leave them two or three messages. To be honest, these gates are not worth the money we spent on them. They've had to come back out on two or three occasions to fix them (but getting them to come back out was like pulling teeth), and the last time they did they told us that if they had to come back out again we'd have to pay them. If you're going to build crappy gates, it seems like you should at least be willing to fix the parts that break free of charge. Well, another board on one of the gates has split, and we can't get them to come back out and look at it. We've called them repeatedly but to no avail. We have actually spoken with people at their office, but each time they've just told us they'd pass the message on. We've only had these gates since December. The long and the short of it is that this company's prices are o.k., but their craftsmanship and customer service leave much to be desired. I wish I didn't have to write such a bad review, but if my writing it makes them put more care into their work from now on, I guess that's a good thing.

I actually initially called a competitor, Advanced Fence. They refused to even come out to do an estimate because they felt my order was too small to be worth their time. I told my co-worker about what happened and she told me to call Bob Jaack's. I am glad I did. The salesman who came out was polite and nice. The only issue is that he was new. he quoted us $1600. we signed up and agreed to the price. Then we got a call from someone a few days later saying the salesman missed something and it was $300 off. Didn't exactly make sense, but we ended up splitting the difference since it was their mistake, but that was a disappointing part of the process. The crew came out on the exact day as scheduled (which I have now learned from other recent projects is a rarity). Crew also arrived right on time. There were two of them. Marteem, the foreman, was so polite and kind. He walked me through all they were going to be doing and asked me a couple questions about our preferences. Throughout the day I could see they were very skilled and precise. I told him I was very impressed. I could see the quality of the work. The arbor was cemented into posts in the ground and they carefully measured and leveled it perfectly. My arbor is just stunning and even the security gate is beautiful (he cut a perfect rounded edge on its top). when they were done, he walked me through his work and made sure I understood how to use the lock. I would definitely use them again and I would hope we'd get Marteem for that project.

They did some repair work. It went very well

The company responded quickly to our inquiry about setting up an appointment to discuss a new composite deck. Ryan arrived on time and offered up a few good suggestions. Within a few days he emailed over a design idea and price quote for the deck. The design was in line with our initial ideas and the price seemed reasonable. I emailed him right back with a request to modify the design with a step and asked a question about the long term reliability of the Trex composite decking material. I never heard back. As of today, May 25th, it's been a month sense my email inquiry. Even if he never received by email, you'd think he would have at least called to follow up. Nothing! As I am not one to beg a company to complete a job costing in excess of $15,000, after waiting a few days, we hired another company, Georgetown Decks, who was incredibly responsive to our follow up questions. We ended up spending more then Rustic's initial quote on a Trex Composite deck with Georgetown.

I went to their showroom to look at samples and then booked an appointment with the owners son who said he would send someone out that coming Sat morning. The salesman arrived on time and in fact even called fifteen minutes prior to arriving. He was very professional and left me quote and answered all my questions. At first they were not able to get me scheduled for a couple of weeks which was not going to work because of time issues on my end. Gina from inside their office is a miracle worker and was able to find someone who could do this past Wednesday. She too was very professional and worked very hard to make sure we were happy. The installer Ruben and his helper showed up a 9am and walked through the job with me and then they torn out the old fence and began to work on the new fence. I had a 140' of fencing to put in and they were able to get it all done in one day except for two small trim pieces which they finished this morning. They left my house at about 7:30 that evening. They did a great job and cleaned up everything very well. When he was done Ruben walked me through everything to make sure I was happy. He is a true professional.

Good overall quality! I did have to work hard to negotiate the price, but overall I was pleased with them.

Honestly, I didn't have much expectation around replacing a fence and deck. But it's really gorgeous work. My yard looks like a million bucks. Both the fence and the deck have nice details that I didn't ask for and that add up for a quality effect. For example, the planks on the deck are all long pieces that stretch the entire length of the deck--no abutted wood planks that will pull apart, collect seedlings or curl up later. The deck also has a double rail, which looks great, and the top rail is a wide plank that easily hold drinks, plates, etc. The fence has nice top rails (I guess that's what they are called?) and caps on the beam. All the wood is nicely cut and fits cleanly--the foreman in particular is a skilled woodworker, and his care really shows. The foreman was also a nice guy and I felt comfortable having him around. The team was him and one other man--also nice. They were pulled off the job twice, so it stretched out a bit longer than I thought. But honestly, I didn't really care (they were very careful not to take down the fence and leave my yard open, for instance, so the impact was low). For me, the quality of the work matters more, and I feel I got more than what I asked for. Ryan's was the highest bid. But here's why I went with him: he was the only one of the three firms to educate me about things like my city's code and design options. He looked at my deck and surroundings and gave me good advice on things that would improve the functionality of the deck, like pulling out a bush and widening the staircase, and the appearance of the fence. Our sales conversation was extremely informative and I felt like he actually added value just by talking me through things. I would recommend them to anyone.

Jaacks Rustic Fence was contracted to build our fence by our builder (for over $4,000). Although the fence at first looked good, we quickly realized the quality of the material and labor was quite shabby. We realized the cedar that they used was really flimsy and most importantly, the posts they used and the way they were installed were completely inadequate. The posts kept rotting and breaking. Not knowing any better, we would call them to have the broken posts replace every year at $200 for the first and $125 thereafter. This year, out of habit, we called them again when 4 posts and a huge portion of our fence fell down during a storm. I asked why do your posts keep breaking? The man who answered deflected all the blame and he couldnt believe that the same posts they replaced last year would fall down again. I told him that they did fall down and my fence is down and I would like them to take a look at it and fixed it since a huge of my fence is down leaving us with no privacy or protection from the outside. So i stressed my urgency to them, yet, he didnt seem to care about our situation or wanted to take care of the problem with a fence and posts that was installed by them. He said nonchalantly he would send someone out to look at it. It has been 3 days since and still no one from Rustic Fence has been out to take a look at it or a call back for that matter. Today, I finally call a different company to have someone else come take a look at our fence and to repair it. They discovered that Rustic Fence barely dug the holes for the posts past one foot into the ground and used insufficient amount of cement for the posts (thus that is why they kept breaking) Posts are supposed to go below the frost line (around 40-42 inches). Rustic Fence went a foot into the ground with their posts. So the bottom line with Jaacks Rustic Fence: Poor material Extremely poor craftsmanship And even worse customer service and a completely lack of concern for their customer or standing by their product. We will NEVER use them again. We are not the type who enjoy to write negative reviews, but I am hoping this could spare some future customers and/or help Rustic Fence improve their practices

Rustic was great, from the time of estimate on. Actually installed a nicer-quality (in my opinion) stockade fence than what I had there (which was falling down because, again, the previous owners simply stuck the posts directly in the ground, sans concrete or anything). In fact, it looks way, way better than the pre-made panels I'd bought at Menards years ago (for the fence I replaced DIY). Those have held up well, don't get me wrong...but they don't LOOK as solid as Rustic's stockade does. The installer came out and assessed the entire project with me before getting down to business. He asked questions, allowed me to clarify things, and was outstanding about cleaning up afterward. I have a raised bed directly next to the fence-line, with a shrub that grows right next to the fence. I expected that the board for the raised bed would need to be pulled or replaced after the work, or that the shrub might show some signs of being trampled or something. But you can't even tell he was there. He dug two post holes in a roughly six-inch-wide space, without disturbing the bed AT ALL. He built the fence to exactly the specs I'd requested. Gate was built from scratch, so widening it was not a problem. Overall, I was beyond pleased with the work, as well as the fact that they were willing to come into the city for a "smaller" job. I was worried I'd be shut down, because while the "catchphrase" is, "no job too small", we all know that doesn't always apply. In the next couple years, I will have some serious deckwork to come in my yard, and I'll be going back to Rustic for an estimate for that project too. They did a great job!

The were rather pushy on follow up calls and ultimately could not meet the price quoted by a competitor.

They did a lot of work. It was a very good experience. They gave us an exceptional deal. They came out and looked at the lot and did an exceptional job. They got it done in one day, which really surprised me and it was site built. So, it wasn't panels that they brought in. They actually built it board by board. They did a really good job. It looks like a custom fence. They seemed to be the most reasonable.

The initial phone call to the company was handled promptly. The woman who took the call was knowledgeable and helpful. I mentioned that we had received a quote from the company a year before but hadn't proceeded with the work. She suggested I get a new quote as an Angie's List Member since discounts would apply. Bob Jaacks came out the same week to give the quote and applied a percentage off. The workers arrived on time, on the expected day and the work was completed in the amount of time estimated. During the quote, Bob had made some very helpful recommendations even taking into consideration the various sizes of our dogs. The features he suggested are quite beneficial. The workers produced the fence to specifications with no direction from us. We are extremely happy with the functionality and appearance of the fence.

Getting started with Rustic Wood Fencing was somewhat difficult - the estimator was difficult to work with. When he provided the estimate, he said he would take care of getting a permit from the City. It took several attempts to get the correct paperwork, and each time I spoke with him, he complained about how busy he was. However, once the project started, I was very pleased - the installers showed up when they were supposed to and the work is of good quality. I am really pleased with the final product.

Arrived a little later than expected, but the 3 person crew worked very efficiently and the installation was completed in about 4 hours. Looks lovely.

In addition to the fence we asked Bob Jaacks to estimate the cost of a deck. The price for both were what I figured they were going to be after doing some research. I liked the guy who came out to give me an estimate, he took his time and answered all my questions. I received an estimate in my email later that same day. We ultimately decided to not build a deck this year and went with a different company, but I would definitely call Bob Jaacks again when we decide to build a deck or when we need more fence work done.

THE INSTALLERS WERE FANTASTIC. THEY COMPLETED THE PROJECT IN A DAY AND I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH MY FENCE.

Our existing wood fence is about 5 years old. We called Rustic Fence about 2 months ago to ask them to come out to repair our gate which did not latch anymore due to the wooden gate swelling. They were initially very responsive and came out to fix the gate within a week for $200. At the time I thought the price was high, but we were pleased with the work. However, within a month or two of the repair the same gate does not latch anymore now this time because of shrinkage. I called up Rustic Fence again to see if they would repair it since they had "fixed" that same gate within the last 2 months. They said that due to the drought this year, the shrinkage was not their problem. However, this latch issue occurred well after the drought of this year and the last month and a half has not seen extraordinary weather swings. They said they would have to charge me another $200 for them to come out to look at the gate. This sure seems like lousy customer service to me. I would like to think that a reputable group, like I thought they were, would at least come back out and offer a free consultation as to what the fix would be. Their complete lack of effort or caring was very frustrating. I would not recommend them based on their complete lack of customer service.

I originally thought I would have to have the whole fence replaced but Bob assured me that it could be repaired easily and would be very sturdy for years to come. He saved me lots of money and he was right. The fence is solid, secure and after one winter in Chicago I'm sure the color will even out to the old fence parts. The two man crew were very efficient, worked fast, (finished in 1/2 day) did a great job and didn't even stop for lunch. I'm very glad I chose this company even though they were a bit higher than another bid I had gotten. They did honor the Angie's List coupon for 10% off materials and they negotiated price with me a small bit when I told them they were quite a bit higher than another bid from another vendor on Angie's List. My gut instinct told me they were well worth the extra dollars (which was right) and their high marks on Angie's list help confirm my decisioin. If I ever have to repair or replace my wood fence, Bob Jaacks Rustic Wood Fence is who I would call.

We needed to replace the old cedar fence around our yard. Jaacks Rustic Fences listened carefully to my ideas and took the time to discuss my drawings and pictures with me when they gave me the estimate. Their bid was the lowest of the three I obtained and the final price was about $500 more than their estimate (still below the others). I took time off work to be present while the job was done as it was fairly complicated with 3 custom arbors/gates. Ray and his crew were pleasant, worked hard, cleaned up daily and did terrific work with great attention to detail. They spent almost an entire day building the moon gate/arbor on site. Most other pieces could be pre-assembled off site and took less time. The total job took three days just as planned and the whole yard looks terrific! I would definitely hire them again if the need arises.

Rustic Wood Fencing displayed an integrity, knowledge of materials, and pride of craftsmanship far superior to the competition. The coned concrete at the base of the posts was neat and compact. Everything from the frame of the fence to the hinges on the gates were very strongly built. They were willing and able to implement all the unusual details we asked for. Bob Kruger was a great help in taking all of our ideas and molding them into a blueprint. Ray and his crew carried out the construction of the fence with great skill. All of the materials they used were superior quality. Even if you really don't need a new fence, you might want to hire them just for the pleasure of seeing the A-Team at work.
