Did not try to sell me a bigger, more expensive unit-explained how the system we had was too big and wasn't doing the job correctly for my size and type of house and recommended a smaller more efficient furnace and air conditioning system. They did the work on time, cleaned up perfectly and answered all my questions. A very pleasant experience. Would absolutely use them again!!!!

 + -1 moreWe made an appointment for this company to give us an estimate on getting some duct work done. The person came on time and was asking if we wanted to buy a new furnace system. My husband told him NO, our system is fine and we just need an estimate for work to be done of running new supply and return ducts. That's it and we made that clear - what we wanted. The person kept asking if we wanted to replace the system. That's all he cared about, not about the reason why we had him come give us an estimate. My husband told him if he asked about buying a new system, he will be asked to leave. A few minutes later the guy persisted in asking again about buying a new system and he was kicked out of the house. Will not recommend this company. They were more interested in selling us a new furnace system when ours was fine and not listening to us as the customer as to what we needed. The house was listed in the market in 2008, which is correct. However the last 3 years it was occupied by a renter. The AC and furnace unit was maintained and I have records to reflect this. I don't know where RCM is getting their information. The gentleman I met with tried to sell us a new unit. I know this is typical of HVAC companies, but I found it frustrating that he wouldn't give me a quote for the service that we need; which is a quote for duct work and floor boot replacement.

 + -1 moreThe service was timely, the work done right away, and at a fair price. This is a 20 year old unit, but there was no pressure to buy a new one. In fact he offered alternatives and recommendations at each step. The system is working fine now and I hope to get a few more years out of it. I'm happy.
Description of Work: My air conditioner began running non-stop w/o cooling the house much, if at all. The service rep called ahead of time, as promised, and arrived a couple of hours before originally scheduled. He located a break in a low voltage line, a relay that was noisy and on the verge of failure, and a leaking coolant system valve. All were repaired or replaced.

Description of Work: I had central air conditioning put in by RCM. My house was not set up for central air, I had used window units prior years. It has hot water heat, so I have a boiler, not an ordinary furnace. This means that they had to install ductwork in my crawlspace and throughout the house so the cold air could be pushed up and cool the house. I have a cape cod, so this involved them having to put ductwork in the upstairs also. This may sound easy, but it was not an easy feat. Other companies that I received bids from made it sound impossible, and their bids showed it! In order to keep the cost down, some companies even suggested doing the 1st floor only. Not RCM!! They did not discourage me or give me a sky-high bid. They were courteous, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. Their bid to do the entire house, both floors, was lower than 2 competitors that only wanted to do the 1st floor. I am very impressed with them. I would recommend them to anyone.I will have them service my boiler in the fall.

 + -1 moreIn 2010, we had another company out repeatedly for the same complaint with no resolution. I searched Angie's List for a NEW local company and the owner was here within 20 minutes of the phone call to look over the boiler. I understand that boilers are an entirely different animal than furnaces. Boilers linked to cast iron radiators are even more challenging. He promised to send his best guy when he was available, and, since this was NOT a crisis situation, we all agreed waiting was fine. The tech came out and was here for an hour and a half and replaced the relief valve, but admitted that that might not work. He showed me where to look for water failure. They followed up the next day with a phone call - there had been no water failure. Well, our mild winter has not continued, and eventually it begin acting up again. After Christmas, we called them again, and this time the tech came out and sat here with my husband for hours while they put the boiler through its' paces purposely to make it go over pressure or temperature after he had adjusted it (again). It still isn't working right. I know when I call back, they will respond quickly again and sooner or later, they WILL hunt down the source. I am just thrilled with how patient they have been. And no, they haven't taken a dime since the inital service call!
Description of Work: We had (and are continuing to have) some boiler issues. The company is continuing to work with us as this has been notoriously difficult to diagnose. They have followed up with phone calls and repeat visits. I laud their professionalism in continuing to troubleshoot this problem (the boiler keeps shooting water out of the relief valve) and being patient and thorough in eliminating different causes. This is a 100+ year-old house; the source of the problem could be from a number of places.

 + -1 moreRCM came to my house the week before work began and gave me a quote. I hired them and they came out bright and early Monday morning just like they said they would. They removed my old furnace and central air conditioning unit and replaced it with a brand new set up. They explained everything they were planning to and then went to work. They did a completely professional job and the end total was the same as the price they quoted me. They also replaced the duct work to half of my home and that now looks better than I ever thought it would. I plan on calling them for any future work I need done.
Description of Work: They removed my old furnace and air conditioning unit and replaced them with new units complete with whole house humidifier and media filter. They also cut two new vents in my kitchen and living room and replaced the duct work to half of my house. I should also mention that for the price I paid that includes the extended warranty.

 + -1 moreIt went Great and we're Blessed to have the piece of mind that a new furnace can bring. The 10/10 warranty doesn't hurt our piece of mind either!
Description of Work: Our 7 year old American Standard furnace (90-92% efficient) furnace had sprung a leak in the heat exchanger, so I called a couple of local HVAC companies to give me a price on replacing it (the part was covered under the original warranty, but the labor wasn't). RCM had the best price for labor, but we started thinking that if this went out, what would go out next and how soon? We talked this through and asked Bill to quote us a price (which we also did with 2 other companies) for their brand of furnaces (BIll sells York and the others were American Standard). Bill came in with a price that was hard to refuse. His price was lower than the others for a 98% efficient furnace, which is the best that's out there now. He also offered my choice of thermostats, which I was going to change anyway. I chose a York/Source1 thermostat that I can upload little messages on that scroll across the screen. He also gave me the kit to upload the messages/programs onto the thermostat (I've seen them for $60-80) for nothing and also set up an outdoor temp sensor so that we can tell the outside temp without going outside (the sensor was additional and started out as a wireless one, which didn't like the cold weather. He changed it to a wired Honeywell one for free and let me keep the wireless one to boot). The temp shows up on the thermostat. He also set our Aprilaire whole house humidifier so that we can either set it from the thermostat or let the outdoor sensor automatically take care of it for us. One of his employees was patient enough to run the extra wire for the outdoor sensor, which looked like quite a job, but he didn't give up. Bill also threw in a 10 year labor warranty to match the 10 year parts warraty that York offers FOR FREE! He did all of the above work for less than the price the other companies offered for a 95% furnace, which have less bells and whistles than we have now! If you need some HVAC work done and want someone who will give you a more than fair price for a Very Professional job, then look no further than RCM HVAC!

The serviceman arrived on time and was able to diagnose the problem promptly. I was provided with several options with good information and pricing.
