Heating season started and my forced air furnace failed. Of course all the HVAC repair companies were backlogged. RCM was available, came within hours, and the problem quickly diagnosed by the repairman (Jeff). The problem? My total bill was $675.00 for two 1 hour visits to replace an inducer motor. The OEM replacement part is $125 on-line. So, $550.00 for two hours of labor? I asked about the apparent high cost and was told was the cost of the part was responsible. When I pointed out the part was available on-line at $125, I was told that RCM has to pay more for a replacement inducer motor than I would. Having worked in the trades in my youth, I've never heard of a contractor paying more than the public. I don't know whether RCM's prices are fair, average or I got shafted, but I do know when I'm being fed a line. My advice is to get your furnace checked well before the season starts.

Please also take into account that serviceman got paid to [Member Information Removed] to & from you twice, both at 5pm and later, paid to pick the part up from the supply house & [Member Information Removed] to & from there. We were there the same day, during the coldest peak of the season, after another company canceled on you. We pay more for parts because we bought a direct replacement part specific for your make & model, not a universal "OEM" part online that is generic and doesn't always install properly to the wiring & board of your furnace board. RCM is licensed, bonded, and insured which all costs money as well. We take pride in our work, our warranties, and our customer service. I paid this company $5047 today. I noticed the water heater was close to the furnace and when a/c is running the water is gathering around water heater. I asked them a question about putting the water heater on blocks to avoid it getting rusty, (this was after they got their money). I am a lay person not a technician, and the technician should have brought this to my attention BEFORE he installed it, he says I should have noticed. There is a man called Bill, I told him I was thinking of stopping the check, he was obnoxious and started screaming down the phone and threatened to put a lien on my house if I did so, then hung up on me. I then tried e mailing Joe to do something to change the problem, he was just as bad. Never again. Sorry I ever had anything to do with them.

I had a rebate. They worked on and off around some other contractors over roughly two months. It wasn't all in one fell swoop. I had other contractors and other trades comment positively on the quality of their work.
Description of Work: They redid my oil system - new furnace, new A/C, all new duct work. They also removed my chimney, as well.

My AC condenser wasn't working-turns out I did need a new one. RCM gave me the best estimate in the fastest time possible for the work to be completed. I could not be happier. Randy in particular was fantastic. He came out for the service call,showed me why the unit was beyond repair,and checked up on the installation to make sure everything was top notch. I will be back when my furnace needs replacing.

RCM heating is a dealer for York furnace and AC (made in America). Bill the owner came out on a Saturday to give me a quote on a new high efficiency furnace. I was really impressed that he was willing to work with my schedule. He thoroughly answered all the questions that I had that day. He resized the furnace to my house. The old furnace that was installed was oversized. The new smaller does a better job of heating and keeping it warm than the old one did. The technicians did a good job with the installation. They were careful not to track anything in on the carpet or scratch the flooring. They made sure everything was working correctly before they left. Technicians were also knowledgable. They aswered any questions I had. The metal work the technicians did to connect the new furnace to the duct work was great. Everything looks great. So far the furnace is working great. I haven't had any issues. I would definitely recommend these guys.

I had RCM out to do a furnace maintenance and check before winter, they identified several cracks in the heat exchanger in my old (29 years) furnace. Bill the owner came by to provide some options. Since the air conditioner was the same age, I thought it best we replace both at the same time. Bought York equipment, made in America, ten year warranty. I specifically did NOT want Carrier since they're moving operations from Indianapolis to Mexico. Bill identified all the energy saving rebates that were available, he'd take care of all the paperwork, saved me from paying up front and waiting for the reimbursements. Jeff and Rory did the installs, great guys, very professional. Worked non-stop from 8am to nearly 6pm to get it done. Wrestling the 30 inch old furnace out of the basement without damage was challenging at best. These guys do good work, they clean up after the work is complete, made sure everything was the way it should be - as if it was their house they were doing the install in. They're prompt, very professional. Bill is a great guy as well. No BS, identifies the options you have, no hard sell. Provides opinion and guidance when asked. Make no mistake a new 5 ton AC and 96+ efficiency furnace for a 3000 square foot house is not cheap, but I felt the price was more than fair, especially when Bill did all the legwork on the rebates that were available. Would I hire them again? You bet I would, they're my new "go-to" HVAC contact. I'd recommend them anytime. Oh and it's a small thing considering the money spent, but they reimbursed me for the maintenance service call too. RCM is a company that wants your business, and shows you you've made the right decision in the quality work they do.

Had a great, GREAT experience with Jeff on Friday, May 6th. Our normal technician is Randy but he was unavailable and I have to say that Jeff provided the same terrific service we are accustomed to receiving. A mouse burned out our air conditioning capacitor which we did not know until Jeff conducted the cleaning of the air conditioner condenser. Jeff had the part on his truck. He got rid of Mr. Mouse, replaced the capacitor and did a thorough review and check of our system. Luckily we had just renewed our Peace of Mind Program so we saved $20 on the part. Took the pinch out of the replacement a bit! Bill, just wanted you to know that we really appreciate your company and the fact that your Technicians are apparently very well trained and competent. This attitude comes from the top so thank you for being the kind of businessman that you are!
Description of Work: The were originally there to review and clean the air conditioning system for the season under our Peace of Mind Program which we had contracted for which cost $202. During the cleaning and check, our Technician found a problem which is described below.

I had left town on the President day weekend. I turn down heat to before leaving. Upon return on President's day the temperature was down to 45 degrees in the house. Much lower that I had set it. I went down to the furnace and reset it by shutting off the power and turning it back on. Although the exhaust fan would run and the furnace would ignite the blower fan did not run. This caused the unit to shut down, I looked into the view port and could see a red light flashing four times in a row. I called RCM and Bill answered right away. I explained to him what was happening. He said he would send someone out ASAP. Randy showed up about an hour later. After some analysis he discovered that a thermistor had burnt out. Being President's day there were of course no parts supply stores opened. He said his boss Bill may have a replacement themistor at his house. Randy went to Bill's house and they replaced the burnt out thermistor. Randy returned that night and replaced the blower fan control unit. He said he would come back the next day and replace with an original replacement part which he did. He also brought out additional parts for known issues with the furnace and replace them no additional charge. I have been working with RCM for 6 or 7 years and have always been happy with the service and the people who supply it. I cannot recommend RCM enough. They are customer focused. John K Lemont,IL

My husband and I were so impressed with Bill's level of professionalism, punctuality and knowledge. We were calling around to businesses to quote us on a gas line to be installed for our pool's heater. I left a message and Bill called me back on his cell phone promptly. He gave me info over the phone on what would be involved in installing the line and also an average price but I understood he would need to come out to our residence to give an exact quote. Later that day, I called the number Bill had called me on earlier that day and he answered right away. He was over to our house to do an estimate in about 3 minutes! He quoted us a price and later that evening we called him to let him know the job was theirs! Due to the rain/crazy weather, our job was pushed a couple days back but Bill and his team were out within a week of our quote to complete the job. We were out of town so when we returned there was a minor issue with getting our pilot lit on the furnace (since they had to turn off the gas to do the work) and it happened to be a Sunday. We called Bill and he came right over to help us out. He is a great person to do business with and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND his company for whatever your heating/cooling needs may be! Thank you for being awesome to work with and we are LOVING our pool heater!! We will use Bill and his Company in the future as well & continue to recommend him to our friends and family.

The job was scheduled promptly and it was started on time and within original budget. Very professional.

RCM was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Bill came out to our house and explained all of our options with no pressure. The two man crew worked for 11 hours to complete the installation and left our house spotless when they were done. We're very pleased with the work and will continue to use RCM for all of our heating and cooling needs.

This is our second year using RCM and we couldn't be more pleased. Bill the Owner and Randy the technician are hardworking and dedicated to their craft. They provide fair service for a fair price. The Peace of Mind Program covers the furnace tune up now and the air conditioner service in the spring. Randy is SO thorough. I've never had a technician as thorough as he is. He brings up parts and cleans them in the sink. I trust that he is truly doing his best to insure that my furnace is in peak operating condition. I haven't had to call for an emergency yet but I am confident that they will take the best of care of us. PMP - Peace of mind program is $114 per unit, per year and no regular or after hours service charge is covered.
Description of Work: Furnace Tune Up, Humidifier tune up and renewal of the Peace of Mind Program for the next year.

RCM came back the next day b/c the furnace went out completely, and they got it working for us while we were waiting for the weather to warm up so we could get our new furnace installed. They came out right away, and were extremely responsive (it was during the snow storm even!). They then came back to install the new furnace, and all is working great so far.
Description of Work: Our whole house humidifier was acting up, and one of our furnaces was also acting up. RCM came out to take a look, and we did end up needing a new furnace.

While unable to determine the cause, the technician stayed well over an hour waiting for the unit to make the screeching noises. He was very nice and polite and, in the process, of diagnosing the problem, also thoroughly cleaned and inspected the furnace. In addition, the technician was right on time for the scheduled appointment. All-in-all it was a very professional experience.
Description of Work: Cleaned and inspected our 13 year old furnace in the process of diagnosing a loud, screeching sound, intermittently coming from the unit.

Randy, was our Service Technician and this was our second experience with Randy and Bill Ward of RCM. Randy is polite, clean, thorough and very knowledgeable. We had this type of service twice a year for at least 10 years with another company and this company is better by leaps and bounds in all categories. $114 was for the furnace service under the Peace of Mind Program that we purchased with RCM. The remaining $35 was for the humidifier service. He tuned conducted a thorough cleaning of the furnace; the most thorough we've ever had done. The flame sensor was cleaned along with the burners and the cabinet. No one has ever been this careful with the cleaning. Randy also carefully checked all sensors and the other electrical parts. He conducted tests with his equipment to be sure the motor and all sensors were working as they were supposed to be. He checked the thermostat and started the system to be sure it was responding properly. He let it run for a bit so that he could be sure he was getting the most accurate readings. I think we might have paid our last company a little less but I now realize that you get what you paid for. My husband and I are a whole lot more confident going into winter now than we ever were in the past. When Randy was finished, he went over the entire receipt with us to explain all the readings and how our furnace fell into all the ranges. He showed us how to properly insert our Air Bear Filter. For 5 years with the other company, we'd been installing it improperly. He also informed us that the other company had not installed the bottom floor of the furnace properly; one of the tabs wasn't inserted and the bottom was laying on the floor which could have affected the performance of the furnace. Thank goodness for this reliable company. We have already referred RCM to another family member and they contracted for a brand new furnace installation with RCM. They are not on Angie's List but they were quite happy with the service so far.
Description of Work: This was the Fall cleaning and inspection of our furnace and April Aire whole house humidifier.

Initially we contacted RCM about doing our annual inspection. When Kevin arrived, he unfortunately found a large size crack which ended up being more of a hole in one of the heat exchangers. Some places like to use this as leverage to sell replacement units, but Kevin showed me with his optical camera that there was indeed a major problem. We realized it needed to be replaced, but Bill worked with us on the pricing to get us a good quality furnace and air conditioner for at a reasonable amount. The installers were very professional and went the extra mile to make sure we have as much extra space in our utility area as possible (which was huge for us because it's such a small space). I'm glad to have the peace of mind that we made the right investment and that the work was done right. I'd certainly recommend RCM to others.

Excellent. The repair tech was full of very useful information regarding not only the central AC but the heating system as well. I think the info will save me a lot of money in the near future when I will need to replace the entire system.
Description of Work: Analyzed cooling system functionality. Determined a recharge of coolant was necessary. Recharged said coolant at the option of the homeowner.

Bill Ward Owner of RCM looked over the units and quoted the replacement cost. He review the new equipment and explained in detail what advantages there were with new units he was offering. I was very pleased with his "Detail presentation and knolwege of the business. I decide to go with another supplier based on price only.

Lowest price isn't everything. My crew takes their time and is trained to do the best possible job. I can safely say our workmanship is better than the competition. We also have a faster response time while other service companies have a two to three day wait during peak seasons. Many times we get calls from customers who did not hire us but request we service their new equipment because they cannot wait for the installing contractor or are fed up with their workmanship. We have even gotten referrals from customers who said they should have hired us. You always get what you pay for. Cheapest isn't always best and workmanship is 90% of the quality of installation.
