Description of Work: They’ve taken down a tree, deliver my mulch and my firewood. We use them year round. They dumped mulch in my driveway. They took down a mall berry tree. It was in the most god awful position wedge in between a pond and a fence and didn’t even break the irises at the bottom of it. It’s incredible. They WOW me.

Description of Work: I called to request an estimate for trimming 5 trees. They told me it would take 7-10 days for someone to come out for the estimate and I didn't have to be present. I described which trees I wanted trim when I called. I was concerned that it might be not a good time of year to trim, but the person on the phone advised me that as long as the trees weren't pin oak or red oak (I think) they could be trimmed. Also, the estimator would note on the estimate if there was a need to wait to trim. The estimate was done within the 7-10 day period and was left in the mailbox. I called and authorized the work on 3 of the 5 trees. I decided the other 2 were small enough for us to trim. The estimator had tied ribbons around the trees in question. I was told to remove the ribbons from the trees I did not want trimmed. Again I was told it was not necessary to be present. The workers showed up while I was home and did a quick, efficient job of trimming. They cleaned everything up nicely and checked with me since I was there to be sure I was satisfied. Was very happy with the job and would hire them again.

The nice thing was they invoiced me for the work and I didn't have to give their worker a check. The job was done on time and on budget. The mulch could have been higher grade, but for the price, it couldn't be beat!

+ -1 moreIs there a grade lower than F? I'd gladly give it to Steve Piper and Sons. They used spurs on the trees, a barbaric practice that has been against code for over 20 years. This is where they strap spikes onto their shoes and ram them into the tree in order to climb it, marring the tree and creating open wounds which leave the tree more vulnerable to insects and disease. Far less damaging methods have been invented over the past two decades, which anyone following the code ought to be implementing. We are contesting Piper and Sons performance, and they have sent various correspondences: one denies that they used spurs, and another claims that they were entitled to use spurs since the contract didn't specify how they could ascend the trees. I find them both incompetent and unethical. They have since been removed from our local arboretum's list of recommended tree trimmers.

+ -1 moreTHEY DID A GOOD JOB ON MY TREES, BUT I WAS SURPRISED THAT WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED, THEY LEFT WITHOUT GIVING ME A CHANCE TO LOOK AT CHECK THEIR WORK OR ASK ANY QUESTIONS. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR ALSO COMMENTED THAT THEY LEFT WITHOUT CLEANING UP ALL OF THE BRANCHES THAT THEY CUT DOWN.
Description of Work: THEY TRIMMED TWO VERY LARGE TREES THAT WERE SHEDDING LOTS OF DEAD BRANCHES. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR HIRED THEM AT THE SAME TIME TO PRUNE TWO OF THEIR TREES.

+ -1 moreTHEY HAVE A 10 WEEK WAITING PERIOD AND WILL NOT SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS IN ADVANCE. THEY CALL THE DAY BEFORE THEY ARE GOING TO ARRIVE SO IF YOU WORK THIS CAN BE DIFFICULT. I CALLED THEM TO CHECK THE STATUS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD ARRIVE ON MONDAY. WHEN I CALLED MONDAY MORNING THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT BE SHOWING UP. THEY DID COME ON TUESDAY.
