I took his recommendation that we replace both springs because the second one generally breaks shortly after the first one. He was very professional. We will call him again if necessary.

 + -1 moreFrom my first call I had requested a Saturday, I have been ripped off by garage door people in the past and this time I wanted to be there. The garage door mechanic came as promised without a hitch. From the moment he pulled into the driveway he asked what was wrong and then explained to me what needed to be replaced. I gave him a verbal OK and he began. From the moment he started, he got right to it in a very friendly way. It was like watching poetry in motion. He knew what he was doing and didn't stop until he was finished. He took pride in his work and made sure everything was working well before he finished. Great Job! I would highly recommend this company. He did not even charge extra for Saturday work. I wish that all trades people were like this.
Description of Work: R & S removed and replaced a broken cable and a plastic motor gear that had been sheared off. Aligned door and checked balance and leveled.

All materials were explained well, and I felt confident that I was being sold a good product. The installation was timely and quiet. Although I needed to be home for the installer to gain access to the garage, I was not inconvenienced by the process at all. We are very happy. We finally went ahead and committed to getting the project done, and now it is.
Description of Work: I had my entire two-car garage door, including the opener, taken down and replaced. We were outfitted with a beautiful new door, new track, new automatic opener, and external keypad entry. It gave our home a fresh look and improved the condition of our garage.

 + -1 moreExcellent. Russ even told me when I called that springs come with 4 year guarantee. Based on the fact that his springs have 15,000 cycle life (see website referenced earlier), 4 yrs is reasonable to give on a warranty in my opinion. He completed the job in 30-45 minutes and my door was working again! My only recommendation would be for R&S to have something in writing about the 4 year warranty. This could be as simple as adding the warranty language to their existing receipt. Russ did mention that I will need to present my original receipt for any warranty issues.
Description of Work: 2 TORSION SPRINGS replaced: I had called Friday morning, 5/12/06, for replacement of one (1) torsion spring on 2 1/2 car garage door. I did some web research, and found this site: http://truetex.com/garage.htm When I realized that it would likely take me at least 3 hours to do the job several days to receive the correct springs, I decided to consult Angie's List. [Rain was also forecast for several days and I wanted to park in the garage!] Near me in Naperville, it came down to R&S and one other company. While the other company had some good reviews, their cost was likely to be 35% higher than R&S, based on reviews I read. I called R&S, spoke to Russ who quoted me $110/1 spring or $185/for both. Though only one had popped, and based on website above, I knew that other spring was probably on limited life so I decided to have both replaced [very prudent!]. Russ was able to come out within 3 hours of my call though I asked he wait till I get home around 5 pm.

I believe their price was comparable to other places for the same service, too. I was in desperate need to use my car and I couldn't open the garage door with a broken spring.  + -1 moreGentleman was prompt, very polite, and reasonably priced for expedited service. Also helped with problem with keypad. Keypad numbers were sticking, so they recommended we change Pass code numbers.
Description of Work: Called on December 30, 2005, at 11:30 a.m. garage door would not go up. Unable to get car our of the garage. Called other vendors who could not come out until the following week. R & S (Naperville) agreed to come out same day, and review problem. Promptly arrived at 3:00 p.m., and changed the spring, which was cracked, completed job in 1/2 hour. Provided a 4 year warranty. I would recommend them to any friends or neighbors who have any garage door problems.

 + -1 moreI called R&S around 10am, and they told me they'd be over between noon and 2pm that day. They arrived within the appointed time, and performed the work in a professional and workmanlike manner. $98 seemed reasonable, especially given that it was freezing outside. Also, if I were to do this job myself, I would probably have had to spend an afternoon hunting for a store that stocked the wire cable.
Description of Work: My garage door was not closing properly because the wire cable on one side of the door broke. Could not even close the door manually, as one side kept binding. R&S replaced the wire cable and adjusted the door so it closed evenly and smoothly.
