I found them on Google and read reviews before deciding on to use their service. Perfect, excellent and very professional. They were on time, responsive, the follow through was impeccable. The product was ok, sometimes the house is warm since we changed the roof.

Opal's staff was very easy to work with. They made the process about as painless as can be expected. The office staff was always quick to get back to me via email or phone, the project manager was timely and responsive, and the install staff was courteous and professional. I've never experienced better service quality out of a contractor, and their work was top notch. I would definitely use them again. My only minor gripe was with the sales staff. They didn't completely capture the scope of work on the estimate, and the project managers rely on the estimate to guide them as to what materials to order and how to execute the job. There was a little bit of a disconnect there. When I saw that a few things agreed upon with the sales person were not done, I pointed them out to the project manager during the final inspection. He then had to circle back with the salesperson, who had to go off of memory. Ultimately they agreed to do the work, which was completed shortly thereafter. Lesson learned - always make sure the estimate has all the details captured.

We have seen one of the brands before that he shown us and really like it but then Eli mentioned Andersen 100 series. Reviews of Andersen is highly protected. The only reviews I could find online are through contractors and Andersen themselves. We would really consider the Andersen window but the price is slightly too high from our budget as well as the other brand window we looked at. We have had several estimates for our house and the average price was $4000 cheaper than the Anderson windows. Some sales reps are pushy but Eli is very professional. He is very informative. Eli spoke to me and my wife equally and with respect to our questions. Due to us wanting Eli to bring out the Alside window he didn't have the Andersen with him at the first visit. Then Eli set up a second appointment to show us the Andersen window. With the second visit he brought with him the Andersen window and the quote but didn't push the topic and instead reviewed what it stated. Great thing about Opal is they provide a company to offer financing. With the way the economy has been it's a hard decision to dump alot of money out of savings for windows so it's nice knowing there are more options to get a remodel completed. Most companies we spoke with don't offer financing and instead want payment in full by the end of installation. All in all, we would hire Opal if the Andersen price would come down to our requested amount. We will do a followup and let you know if the project gets completed and by whom.
Description of Work: Eli came out to give us an estimate for windows on our whole house.

We are happy with the end result. We know it was Opal's busy season but we hoped to get the door a little sooner. Although it was time consuming to have someone come to our home and measure twice, it was better in the end because our door was not a standard size as we had thought. We ended up needing a custom size door. We had some problems but they were willing to listen to our feelings on some possible miscommunications. Everyone at Opal was very polite. On the day of the install, the crew was prompt, polite and cleaned up nicely.

They did beautiful work. They were a little pricey, but they did beautiful work. They were almost $11,000 and I thought that was a little high. It started last year and they still are trying to finish up one part that they got screwed up. They put the screen door in and the guy was in a rush and he kind of screwed it up. They had to have somebody else out and they damaged some of the aluminium that they had around the top and they had to replace it. They came out to replace it a week ago. Where it had the ripple, they had it as plain. So they need the ripple effect. So they have to go back and get another piece to put it in. But they're very honest. They're sticking to it. They stand behind the product. Overall, I was very happy with them. When they said they were going to be here, they were here. They're very good to work with.

Everyone i came in contact with at Opal was extremely professional and courteous. The salesperson was on-time, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. (Of the three companies I interviewed, he was the only one that didn't pressure me to sign a contract immediately.) Opal was the least expensive, but more important - they were the company i had the most confidence in. The salesperson explained the contract thoroughly, and went over everything that i should expect. I was contacted by the office and project manager in a timely fashion, and was kept up-to-date on the start date for the work. The work started on time and ended on-time. The crew did a wonderful job of cleaning up at the end of each day. I'm extremely pleased with the result, and the service they provided. I highly recommend them.

Was called the next morning and an appointment was set for 2/8 at 10 am. The day before someone called to confirm the appointment. Dan arrived on time and was very professional and courteous. He needed to bring in a ladder to get into the attic and apologized several times for bringing in the snow. He spent time in the attic and took pictures. He then explained to me issues he found. My husband arrived in the middle of the explanation and Dan patiently, without any sense of annoyance, began the explanation again from the beginning. He said he would write up a proposal/estimate and we would get it by Tuesday, 2/11. The emailed proposal came in today and we will contact Opal soon to schedule the repair. While Dan was taking exterior pictures, he noticed an issue we had in the yard due to some drainage problems (which we knew about). He knocked on the door to tell us about it and alerted us to the fact that the air conditioner is beginning to lean. He did not need to do this--the issue is not related to the roof, but I really appreciate his taking the time to let us know.

Opal Enterprises were fantastic to work with and performed excellent work. All of the work was performed expertly and I found their crew very easy to work with. This, however is what I would expect from any good contractor. Where Opal really goes above and beyond is in the customer service and support side of the operation. I worked with Eli on the initial contract, who was very knowledgable and easy to work with even as I kept asking for changes to the quote. I wish all sales folks I had to deal with were as good as Eli. After the contract was signed, I met Stefan, the project manager, who wanted to go over the contract in detail just to make sure everything was clear. After that, I received regular updates every week from the front office staff to keep me informed on progress and answer any questions. Opal really goes out of their way to make sure your project goes well and you are happy with the work and the experience. I have had no issues with my project, but I have no doubt that if I did Opal would work hard to resolve.

Out of the 5 roofing companies interviewed, Opal is the only company that went truly above and beyond in ensuring I was getting exactly what I desired and needed and understood that I was going to be interactive with the installation crew. The sales person went out of his way to run all my budget dollars and air flow calculations. There were a number of unique requirements for my hip roof including using ridge and hip vents. I did a lot of research on roofs and venting and the sales person took all that into consideration. To ensure that I was satisfied with the technical specification of the hip vents, the sales person got the manufacturing Tier 3 technical support on line and let me speak with him directly. That was huge as I got to ask a number of very detailed questions. The crew that came to the house was excellent and very professional. Most importantly, the crew chief did what I asked and continually checked in with me to show me what they were doing. Why this mattered so much was due to a variety of issues that affected the look of the house, particularly with the hip vents. The crew chief identified at least two issues and gave me options, allowing me to get the look I wanted. When I identified a and quot;lookand quot; issue at the edge of a ride vent, we partnered to come up with a satisfactory solution. Also, the crew chief contacted his office immediately to let me know if the on the fly changes were at a cost and what the cost was. It helped that I spent hours researching roofs, air flow, venting and construction to understand the materials of the different offerings. I was able to ask very detailed questions. The Opal sales person and install crew did a very good job of understanding that I needed detailed answers.
Description of Work: The services performed was a replacement of the shingles (full tear off), installation of a ridge vent and installation of hip vents. The house and the garage needed the services.

Opal was referred to us from a co-worker. Even though we were out of their service area, they agreed to come out and offer their expertise. Our home is over 80yrs old and we think the old windows were original. We wanted to keep a similar wood look without having a wood exterior and we definitely needed more efficient windows . Our sales rep walked us through the options and we chose Andersen windows, wood interior and fiberglass exterior. Mark was the crew leader and his guys worked extremely hard to finish the job in a day in a half. They professionally dealt with the problems that come up with an older home. I'm not a window expert, but even I knew this was a trickier installation due to the age of the home. They ended up rebuilding our front bay for additional support and it looks fantastic. All the trim work looks great and I can't believe how modern the home now looks. Not only do the new windows look great, but they make a tremendous difference from an energy-efficiency standpoint, especially during colder days like today. Overall our experience was great. Opal seemed vested in our project and we were constantly in contact with someone from the company. One thing I really liked is we had a foreman (Steve) who wasn't an installer, but would check up on the installers and he was highly involved from the ordering of the windows, to scheduling our job, to making sure all the finishing touches were accounted for. The salesmen was very polite and accommodating. He walked us through several options and my husband and I were able to choose what made sense to us. Mark and his crew were top-notch (and very polite as they had to work inside the home for a majority of the job) and I can't believe how hard they worked. The communication was very good from Corrin and everyone at the office and everyone just seemed pleasant to work with. After going through this experience, it's easy to see why we were referred to them in the first-place.

We initially had Opal come out to evaluate our siding, but the estimator wanted to also look at our roof and detected more issues with our roof than with our siding, so we took his advice and got a new roof installed by Opal. Great job, very professional and accommodating to my family's schedule. We will use Opal again when we decide to replace our faded siding.

Response from Opal Enterprises Inc
Dear member, Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback on your experience with Opal Enterprises. We have checked our systems and do not have an actual proposal on file for your home's roof. It is my understanding that we did not offer you a written proposal. Opal Enterprises does have a process that we aim to follow. After our initial conversation where our office staff attempts to learn as much about your project as possible over the phone. Then we send out an estimator on a day and a time that fits your specific schedule. We offer you an appointment e-mail that confirms our knowledge of your needs and we offer a picture of your estimator so that families can feel secure on knowing who is coming to their property. Then it is our goal to listen to your needs and wants ad to have a dialog about what we are capable of offering in comparison to what the homeowner personally feels is right for their home. This first appointment is to be a non-selling appointment and a learning and listening exercise for our company. After the initial meeting and measurements, our estimators get to work on planning and proposing for your unique home. Our records indicate that you did not go beyond this initial meeting and it might have been mutually learned that the match between contractor and homeowner might not be made. I am very sorry to hear that your initial experience with Opal Enterprises did not reflect what is outlined above. It is not our intention to ever be pushy, but educational. Not any one contractor can meet the needs of every homeowner's profile. This first meeting is a chance to understand one another's capabilities. Again, I am sorry to learn that we failed you. I am confused on the grade given for price and for the quality of work...since neither of those two elements occurred in your situation. (Price was not offered and work was not performed) I do want all member's to know that our company is fully staffed with 11 office employees (including 2 owners and a sales manager) that are ready to take calls from homeowners who felt they needed better service. We can fix issues immediately and maybe not so easily 6 months after the fact. (since you met with us in June and are reporting in December) All estimators report directly to a sales manager and to the owners. If something is not right, we have the capability to fix things immediately. Regardless of time passed, We do still appreciate your feedback that will be taken in and incorporated into our next company meeting where we focus on all of our customers and non-customer's experiences with our Exterior Remodeling company.

I contacted Opal and was turned off by a rude attitude of the woman who answered the phone there. I declined to set an appoitment. About a week later I decided to give it another try and set an appotment. Their salesman Dan came to our home, took measurements, and gave a good presentation. Dan came back to our home a second time with a formal proposal breaking down the costs of the work. At first it seemed like Opal would be a good fit for what we were looking for. We asked Dan to revise the proposal and add new gutters and sofits to the total (which we were going to pay for out of pocket.) We never received that second proposal. I asked Dan to contact me on my cell phone and on numerous occassions he used the secondary number or emailed me instead. At one point he stated that I needed to get back to him on some information before he went out of town for a long weekend. I felt as though he purposely used the wrong number as to ensure he didn't have to get the revised numbers to us before he went out of town. Dan was a young guy and it appeared he wasn't quite as passionate about his job/career as we would have liked to seen in a company we were planning to spend $16,000 with. In the end, we never got a final number and therefore did not select Opal Enterprises. A couple months later we received a call from someone at Opal asking what had happened and if we ever ended up hiring anyone to do the job. The man appologized for Dan dropping the ball. It seems possible that Dan left the company which may account for the issues we encountered.

Dear Member, Thank you for your feedback. Please know I have talked extensively to all parties involved with Opal Enterprises to learn what could have gone wrong with our proven recipe on how we treat our valued customers. I wish homeowners would once....call the office and speak to a manager or an owner when they feel there is an issue or concern with their service or estimate. I cannot fix what I do not know about!!! I have to learn of your woes through an Angie's list review. Very sad. I find it curious that you felt my office manager was rude to you on the phone the first time but you "gave us another shot" and called back a week later. If someone from Opal was rude to you, I find this unacceptable and would love to have heard from you on the phone when the event happened and maybe not....6 months later. We are proud to have someone here to answer the phones every single day of the work week...including Saturdays. I know many remodelers have a voice mail that homeowners can speak to...and we have real people and a fully staffed office that includes; 2 owners and 5 managers. One of us would have jumped at the chance to right a wrong! I do hope that the HOURS that Dan spent with you and your husband in your home educating you on your storm damage was appreciated. We try so hard to be educational and solution finding. Dan is still very much with our company. After speaking with him, I learned that when Dan called your husband to offer the gutter estimate that you mentioned in your review, Dan was told to NOT offer the estimate because you had found a contractor that was willing to do your project at below cost "just to get into your neighborhood because you live on a corner lot" and that cheaper contractor needed the job sign exposure. When this disappointing report was left, where you aware of the fact that Opal was asked to NOT quote the gutters unless we could beat this lower-priced contractor by your husband? And I find it surprising that you gave us an "A" on price after Opal was told "if you cannot be the cheapest contractor" don't waste our time. Opal Enterprises can only try our best to offer the right service. Estimating a project is a 2-way street. We work for FREE for hours to learn about your project and understand the home's problems. We need homeowners to be invested and interested in our work for a proposal situation to work out. The owner of the company is dedicated to your best experience possible. As we have never accepted a phone call from you...I do look forward to being the one who can resolve all issues that might arise!

I called today for repairing a roof problem. They said the do not do small jobs and they do not do repairing without even listening to the details of the problem. According to the reviews in Angies' list, they did repairs recently. I am frustrated with their service. My response to Opal Enterprise's comments: As I stated above, the fact was there were positive customer comments in Angie's list about recent roof repairs. That was what prompted me to call Opal for my roof repair. Unfortunately, the Opal's customer service representative who answered the call did not have the patience to listen to the customer and explain. The mismatch of service recently done and the service denied plus unprofessional customer call handling led to the feeling of unfair customer treatment. Nevertheless, I upgraded my original rating since I am now told that the original member comments on Angie's List about roof repairs were inaccurate.

Member. Opal Enterprises is a full replacement service company. We pride ourselves on being a niched and targeted company so that we can offer the best possible service to those customers who are looking for high-end, value-infused exterior remodeling. We do offer Windows Improvements, Siding Replacement, Full Roof Systems, Beautiful entry doors and also gutter replacements. Angie's lists has one category for Roofs and does not offer a specific category for "repairs" and another for "full replacement" and we have maintained our superior over-all grade on Angie's list by doing what we do-very well! I have personally been in the remodeling industry for years. I am proud that when a valued customer calls in; and dear member, EVERY person that takes the time to call our company matters, because even if you do not need us today or now, we are hoping to at least be invited for an estimate when you are indeed ready to a project that is within our scope of work. I am personally proud that my administration team is ready to offer you referrals for those items of work that we simply cannot offer. You were offered the handyman that is a licensed roofer who handles only repairs. We offered you his name and phone number on two occasions since you called in to our office twice and our ladies that answer the phones did care about your needs. If they had not cared enough about your needs, they would have said "sorry we do not offer repairs sir" and the call might have ended there. But, we extended our services to offer you at least a start in who can help you. We receive many, many calls in a month for homeowners looking for glass replacement in windows, siding repairs, landscaping and a range of other items needs, and we have a referral to those homeowners for many industry's that we are not specifically in. It is our company culture to treat you with respect and offer guidance in the hopes that you can remember our company when and if you need full replacement of windows, siding, roofs, entry doors or gutters. They follow the best practices of their suppliers to perfection. They adjusted to my changes yet were not afraid to tell me when they thought my ideas were not the best way to do something. Hardie Fiber Cement has many inherant nuances when installing that need to be followed exactly, and they followed them perfectly. They made many recommendations on my new roof and turned out a perfect job.
Description of Work: Opal did an outstanding job replacing my roof, gutters, storm doors and siding (James Hardie). They're very detail oriented and made sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. There preparation and follow-up is extrordinary. They made this a very pleasant experience. The job timing was excellent. Told me how long it would take and what needed to be prepared by them and us and it proceeded on schedule perfectly.

We wanted a quote for a tear off. Opal is very very professional with very good follow up and does a very thourough job to make sure you are informed as to what your possibilities are. The only reason we did not go with them was the price. What they have to offer is top of the line, with all the trimmings. Since we are simply not going to be around long enough in this house to enjoy all the trimmings, we decided to go with a more middle of the road option. If you are looking for top of the line, service and everything, Opal is the way to go.

Opal was awesome! First I was looking to do new siding, windows, and gutters and soffits. I had 3 companies come in to bid on the project. I had all of them give me a quote for each piece of the project, and one for the whole project. I ended up only doing the siding and the gutters and soffits, windows are on the list for next years house upgrade. There quote was not the lowest, but it was very competitive. The main difference was they were going to use the high end material that I wanted, and Ryan (my and quot;salesand quot; guy) was very knowledgeable and helpful. Ryan came out and took pictures, and did computer models of what the my home would look like with the 2 main options I was looking at. This made a huge difference if making my final choice of what to actually install. Right after I had made my choice to go with Opal, they brought in the guy that was to be my project manager, Steve. We did a walk around and he showed me a couple of things that might cause issues, and gave me options on what would be best. Mind you there was no up-selling here, he gave me several options, most of which could be done by either myself(or a friend that is a bit more handy than I), and then he get Opal's option(s) with an upfront price. The couple of weeks before the install, someone from the Opal office would give me a call on friday afternoon to keep me up to date with the project status. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to be kept informed. Even it it's nothing more than, everything is the same as last week. So, I very much appreciated that. Now the Install:The only problem that I had with any of it is the first day they got there around 8:30 (well within the time frame they said they would), but Steve actually needed to talk to me (and I don't wake up that early). But other than that (despite the fact there were 5 - 9 people all over my house, ripping down then putting up new siding) my family and I barley noticed they were there. They were as quite as they could be, very clean, and when the occasional and quot;nature callsand quot; issue came up, there very very respectful, and even made sure to take there shoes off as to not make a mess. As the work was being done they exposed some very rotted wood under our sliding door in the back of the house. Again, Steve gave me several options of what to do. We decided to buy our own door, and have them install it. The price was less the the install price from the place the door was purchased, and included fixing the rotted wood. They put up all the new outside light fixtures (an idea Steve suggested, so they would better match the new siding). When they were done, Steve and I did a walk around. He pointed out some thing, as did I. He was quick to fix all the things that I pointed out. All in all I couldn't be much happier with Opal and my almost appears to be new house. Cheers, Rico

My experience with Opal was good until the very end. It started with an estimate from one of their sales associates Ryan who was a great salesman. He sold me on the company, even though they were the most expensive of the five estimates I got. He explained that Opal provides some of the best quality workmanship in the area and as a result they are a bit more expensive. They certainly have the reviews to back up their claims. In hindsight (now that the project is over, and now that I have experience in this type of project) I wish Ryan would have walked me through more of the details of the project and decorative options before we began work. In the end the house looks good. However, there are some finishing touches that were never discussed, such as accessories for the versetta stone, and hence were never done. In fairness to Opal, I never asked about these things. I do think that items such as the accessories for the Stone should have been brought up by them. The crew that showed up to complete the work arrived on time everyday and worked a full day for about 8 days to get the entire job done. The crew did a great job keeping me informed with the progress of the job. When something would come up (such as rotted wood) they would show me and then they would show me the same area after they fixed it. Through out the project Opal gives you a number of people to contact in case you have a question or an issue. Our salesman Ryan and Project manager Steve answered or returned my calls promptly. When the crew finished their work I was able to do a walk around the house and create a punch list of items that still needed to get done. This is were things took a bad turn and is the biggest reason Opal received a and quot;Cand quot; in Overall Experience and Professionalism. When I walked around the house I noticed an area that I wanted to add a piece of trim to. I notified Steve the project manager and he came over that same day to take a look. He did some measurements and said that it wouldn't be a problem. I asked him what the additional cost would be, and he went to his truck to make the calculations. At that moment the owner of the company Voytek Opalski drove up and walked up to me on my front lawn and introduced himself. He proceeded to ask me why I was unhappy with the work. I explained that I was not unhappy I just wanted to add a piece of trim and was willing to pay for the additional cost. He said okay, that they should be able to do that. He then told me (rudely in my opinion) that it would have been easier if I would have told them about this extra trim before they finished the job. This immediately got me a little upset. Of course it would have been nice if I could have told them about the trim before they finished but I didn't know that it was something that I wanted until I saw the completion of their work. Him saying that served no constructive purpose other than to make the customer feel bad. I tried to explain that I didn't know I would want the extra trim because I wasn't sure how the house would look at the end. I told him that some of the little details were not gone through with me so I didn't know what the the finished project would look like completely. That's when he said, and quot;why would you sign a contract with us if we didn't give you all the details?and quot; I just about lost it after he said that. I agree, in hindsight I wish I would have gone through those details before signing with them...I know better now. The job was almost over now though and hindsight is 20/20. I could not understand why the owner of the company was at my house making me feel like a bad home owner and like I made a bad choice. Before he showed up things were going well. Steve was calculating the additional cost of the trim and the work was going to get done. Mr. Opalski needs to either stay in the office and leave the customer service in the capable hands of people like Steve and Ryan, or he needs to learn how to deal with customers. He created a problem where there was no problem by showing up to my house and arguing with me for ten minutes. The sad thing was that there was no one to complain to seeing as he is the owner. I shared my frustration with Ryan the sales associate in hopes that he would share that with Mr. Opalski, but I never received a response or apology from the owner. The argument was so heated and needless that I can not recommend Opal enterprises to my friends, family and neighbors. I can not recommend a company to anyone where the owner displays such a complete disregard for the customer.
Description of Work: We had all of our siding, fascia, sofits and gutters replaced. Opal removed all of our old aluminum siding and replaced it with charter oak center lock vinyl siding (.44"). We also had some old brick in the front of our house that Opal took down and replaced with new stone veneer (Versetta Stone). They also replaced any rotted wood that they found along the way at an additional cost.

Response from Opal Enterprises Inc
Dearest customer, Thank you so much for taking the time to report on your experience with Opal Enterprises and your siding design. As much design work as we put into our customer's home...there is a fine line where an estimator does not want to be pushy about telling a homeowner how the home SHOULD look. There is no way to assume what the home should look like. We do rely on our valuable customers to tell us what they envision for their home. We have hundred's of completed homes in the western suburbs and homeowners can get their creative minds going! Exterior remodeling is a wonderfully fun chance to re-do the curb appeal of your home. Please do accept my apology on behalf of Voytek. Mr customer...you say he belongs in the office...Voytek is the number #1 reason that Steve and Ryan are on their game because Voytek pushes us all for perfection! He must have felt on the defensive as you were explaining you did not like the work we did as he is very proud of the installation. I am sorry that the conversation got heated, we are all humans and if any one of us feel on the defensive...it can be hard to remember that not every single person is going to be happy. Steve and Ryan are amazing and I so pleased that along with the crew...we worked together to remodel your home! Please do accept our greatest apology for the conversation. You are important to us! And, I am the co-owner of Opal and offer myself to you for further conversation now and for the next five-years of your home's labor warranty!
