Just Central Vacuums

Everything went great. When my central vac stopped working, I found 2 possible repair places online. Just Central Vaccum had a review on Angies list. He offers free evaluations at the home, while others charge. He came out the very next day, and did the work at a very reasonable price. My system is over 25 yrs old, but it now runs better than new. I thought I might have to purchase a new one, but Owen assured me that this one could last another 20 years with the new motors. Since the original hose was getting worn, I used the money I saved on Owen's repair to buy a new (and improved) hose. It's a bit longer and a tad wider. Now the suction is remarkedly improved, and my air powered brush works much better. Owen is a young man, very professional, knowledgable, and honest. He met the price on a hose I saw online and cleaned my attachments at no charge. He shipped me the new hose promptly at no shipping charges. I would definitely recommend him for service, parts, or installation of your central vac needs.

Owen returns calls immediately and schedules appointments in a timely fashion. He really knows his way around a central vac system! Our 20 year old central vac blew out one of its motors leaving the suction inefficient. Owen said he could replace the broken motor or we could purchase a new machine. Given the age of our system we chose to purchase new. Owen was back within the week with a new unit. He installed it quickly. We also decided to upgrade some of the attachments. Additionally he repaired one of our attachment hoses for no charge.

We have known Owen for several years in fact before he started his own company. Owen is a true entrepreneur dedicated to the company he created. He is all about the customer. Owen is service oriented, which I can appreciate since I own 4 retail stores. He not only checked out our existing system, but spent the time to make sure I knew how to operate the system. He even hung the hose hanger and showed me how to roll the 30ft of hose along with how to store all the attachments in the tool caddy. As long as I live in the Chicago area I would never use any other company for central vacuums.

I am shocked to find out that my original rave review did not make it to Angie's List do to a computer error. So again, I can't emphasize enough on what a wonderful guy Owen is. He has worked for me on several occasions at my home in Burr Ridge and at my farm house in western Illinois along the Mississippi River. Owen is kind and very courteous. Owen is a young, even younger looking, man. Don't let that fool you. He is passionate about his company and vacuums... Yes, passionate about vacuums! He fixed a botched job by the original installer. He was able to use all the previous equipment which kept the cost down, replaced my central vacs mother board and made several changes, at no charge that made my system work more efficiently and effortlessly. We talked about changing a few structural things that would keep the system from overheating. He came back on time, worked quickly and quietly and I have never had a problem with the system since. When Owen traveled to our farm house, he put in a brand new system from ground up. He got more than he bargained for on that trip. This is where Owen went above and beyond. I had a very personal tragedy happen while he was there. One of my dogs wandered away from the house and was struck and killed by a motorcycle. Owen stayed and helped me deal with this horrible situation. I am still unable to talk about it without tears welling up. I don't know any service provider that would have done that. I don't think he realized how touched my whole family was for his kindness that horrible day. This is why I am shocked and horrified that my review was lost in cyberspace. So that would be a big YES! HIRE JUST CENTRAL VACS! Thank you Owen for all your professional stress free workmanship. You are a true professional.

Owen came to the house was on time and provided friendly and professional service on my 30 yr. old central vac. system. He had all the parts readily available and had my system working like new in a very short time. While $500 in not a small amount I feel it was worth the service provided and it was far superior to installing a new system. It went very very well. Owen replaced an automatic dust trap in my kitchen linked to the central vac system. He was so so professional. I wish all contractors were just like him. Clean, punctual and not trying to sell you what you dont need. I 'd definitely reuse him if we have future issues. Totally recommend.

Everything went extremely well. Owen showed up when he said he would and went right to work and found the problem very quickly. He demonstrated how the suction was improved by using a vacuum gauge. About two years ago Owen had made adjustments to our piping for the vacuum system in our basement because we were doing a remodel. He asked how the remodel turned out so I showed him the final product. While in the basement he noticed that one of the faceplates for a vacuum outlet was not flush with the trim around it. Since he was here, he decided to take a look at it and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I really appreciated the fact that he did this even though this was not what I called him for. It just shows how he pays attention to detail.

We recently changed cleaning services for our home. The previous team brought their own vacuum, the new one wanted to use ours, so we began using our central vacuum system - which had been barely used for 10+ years. I had never been pleased with its power, so it was a question of repairing the system or buying a new and costly regular vacuum. We could not be more pleased with the service that Owen provided. Our first contact with him was by phone, and he gave us free advice as to what we might do to improve the efficiency of our system. When that didn't prove effective enough, we scheduled a service call with him. He was prompt, courteous, and most important, patient and helpful in explaining what changes needed to be made. Our "fix" was relatively simple, a leaking outlet that needed to be replaced. But once we realized that doing that would drastically increase the effectiveness of the vacuum, we opted to replace the 25+ year old hose and attachments, to get the optimum performance. Owen did have to order a few things for us, so that required a second visit for installation. Again, all went well. We feel that, while $500 is not a small amount of money, it certainly is comparable to buying a regular vacuum, and the positives are many. No cleaning out the containers, less stirring up of the dirt, etc. Our system nows works at its (more than adequate) maximum capacity and we are very well pleased. Highly recommend Just Central Vacuums.

Our two story home was about 60% pre-piped for a central vac system when we bought it. My wife and I had grown very weary dragging our canister vac up and down three fights of stairs so we decided to call Owen. If you use anyone else to install repair or augment your central vac you are crazy. Ours was a very difficult install as our basement is finished and the ceiling is drywalled making running pipe and connedtions much more difficult. Owen must be a contortionist. He is neat, quiet, punctual, professional and does not up-sell. Makes good suggestions and is pragmatic in his approach. I wish all contractors were like this!!

Owen is amazing when it comes to central vacuums! He is prompt, courteous, extremely knowledgeable, and truly aims to please. He quickly got my 30 year old central vac up and running. But he didn't stop there. Knowing he was replacing a much newer system in my neighborhood, he came back a week later and installed that central vac in my home at no extra charge to me. It's much better than the one I had, and he did it simply because he wanted me to enjoy my central vacuum. I've never encountered a repairman who was so thoughtful and generous with his time. May his tribe increase!

Owen, the service guy called an hour before his scheduled window to let me know he was on his way. He arrived exactly on time. He explained what needed to be done, quoted a price and time it would take. When he was done he explained how my unit worked and explained all my attachments. All service people should be like him. This is the first review I've even written on here. That's how pleased I was.

I called for a new carpet attachment tool and to have the system checked as it is about 20 years old and we just moved in a couple of months earlier. Owen returned my call promptly and scheduled an appointment within a couple of days. He arrived promptly and inspected the system. Overall it was in good shape. When I showed him the broken carpet attachment, he inspected it and the rest of the tools. He discussed my options with me and I chose to upgrade all my tools. He showed me how to operate the new attachments, checked the motors and took my old tools away with him. Very professional, knowledgeable and would highly recommend!

Owen (a young man) arrived exactly on time. He checked the power of the system. He then went to the problem inlet which had no suction. He has all the specialized equipment for the job and went about his business to fix the problem. I am very pleased with the entire experience.

We were having some suction problems with our 12 year old central vac. They arrived when they said they would, did a complete tune-up on the vacuum unit and all of the outlets. System is running much better now. Very reasonable price, plus 10% off for being an Angie's list customer!

My husband and I began designing our dream home about four and a half years ago. An immediate "must have" on my list was a central vacuum. I grew up in a house that had a central vac and know how easy it is to use and maintain. A year later, my husband and I attended one of our first home show - at Pheasant Run. Knowing we needed to find a contractor to install the vacuum, and to find out a bit more information about how to design a central vacuum into the plans for the house, we stopped by any booth that offered central vacuums. That's where we first met Owen. He chatted with us for a while and gave us some great ideas on our design. His business card went "into our file" with words like "knowledgeable", "honest", "passionate" written on the back so that we would remember Owen when the time came to get bids on the work. Fast forward three years to mid-2011. It was time to collect bids from contractors. Owen was first on our list for central vacuums. After calling him, he promptly scheduled time to meet with me to discuss the project. He was well prepared for our meeting and was as pleasant as we'd remembered. His price was also very appropriate for the work. After working through all of the details, Owen was hired. To be prepared for when he would need to install the central vacuum, Owen came out to the jobsite well in advance. He worked with us to determine the locations of the inlets and confirmed when he would be onsite. He was open to our ideas about where we wanted the roughed-in piping to run and he was very accommodating. Installation would take two days and on day one, Owen was there with the young gentleman that does the piping rough-in - Owen ensured his installer understood the job. The installer was also pleasant and kept his work area very orderly. Owen performed all of the day two work, himself, and finished when he said he would. There was one part of the installation that could not be completed until the finished floor was installed. Owen came back out to the site, four months after the rough-in installation, to finalize the last component. At that time, Owen provided detailed instructions on how to use the vacuum and all of the attachments, how to maintain the unit, and best practices for lengthening the life of the unit. Owen and his team are very polite, prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. We would HIGHLY recommend him and his team to family and friends.
