Sherry, our salesperson, met us at our home an hour after our visit to the store to measure the room and look at the samples we had chosen. The new carpeting gives the room a warm and welcoming feel, as we hoped it would.

Description of Work: I worked with an incredible decorator on staff at FCA. Her name is Michelle, she coordinated all new purchases for redecoration of dining room and living room, including tile, carpet, drapery, paint colors. She also assisted with coordinating paint colors for the rest of the home.

+ 0 moreExcellent- for the wall to wall carpet installation we had two guys doing the work. They were incredibly efficient moving furniture and installing carpet, then moving the furniture back in place. They completed four rooms and the hallway in one day! As for the runner- the contractor contacted me, came out when it was convenient for me (no two to four hour window!!), made a template, when the stairs were ready (had to get them sanded and stained) he came out and did a beautiful job installing!! As far as price, we did not shop around as we just wanted to get the work done. I felt the price was a little high, but we have used FCA in the past so I knew I would be pleased with the results!!
Description of Work: Removal of old wall to wall carpet & pad and installation of new carpet & pad. Also, installation of runner on stairway.

+ 4 moreI worked with an interior designer, who picked out all of the furniture in my home and did all of the window dressings. She even picked out the knick knacks and tables. I enjoyed working with the interior designer, she was wonderful. I also purchased my hardwood flooring and ceramic tile from them, and they also installed that flooring. Most recently, I used them to put a film over my windows to protect from the UV rays.
Description of Work: They have done a lot of work for me, and I would highly recommend them.

Lattie, who we worked with at the store, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We have worked with her a few times on a few different purchases. We are returning customers and we will continue to use them in the future.

+ -1 moreCan't deal with them any more if they have juniors answering the phones and act as if they know the business without understanding the need of a consumer. Am currently looking on Angies List for professionals who can assist me. FCA is not the place to go unless you want to do the work yourself, pick out something and have them install it.
Description of Work: Although the last two experiences were not the best (first of last two - assured me they could do laminate on stairs - foot tread was significantly shorter than a size 6 shoe - they did repair at an additional cost even though their original sales person assured me they do this all the time with satisfactory results. the second of the last two had to do with the sales rep assured me that I could borrow the floor sample for 30 minutes {1 mile away} to see if the costly backsplash tile would work - the next sales rep stated there was no way I could walk out of the showroom with the sample.) I again contacted FCA in response to a local mailing to ask for someone to come out to measure and suggest options for 4 rooms and 1 hallway and 1 stairs because I had them out to laminate a hallway, living room and install tile in the kitchen in the past and they did a good job and stood behind their install. The rep at the FCA in Joliet said they never did stairs - I informed him they did mine with disastrous results - "that's why we don't do them, they're a pain to do" - and would not take accountability for the rep who had said they always did them prior to today's policy and procedures.... - he would not understand that I needed a consultant on site to help evaluate install pricing and advice on what to install and how best to do it in the 3/4 of the house that needed flooring. "we always do it this way." When I know for a fact They did at one time send out a consultant 1 mile away to assist with my questions and selections - please review my records of several thousand dollars spent in the past.

+ 0 moreKen & his partner were very careful, complete and accurate. The job took five whole days, four of the days were two man jobs. The final day took only Ken, The project involved a lot of dust, but both men were very careful to clean up as they went along.
Description of Work: Removal of vinyl flooring and underlayment and replaced both. Replaced two boards in laminate wood flooring.

+ -1 moreTile quality was good. The customer service and customer relations are HORRIBLE. DO NOT have them estimate how much tile you will need for a project without having them double check physical measurements or they will not take any responsibility. DO NOT trust that they are looking out for you as the customer.
Description of Work: I gave my blueprints to the sales associate for square footage estimations. Based on the vinyl tiles and ceramic tiles selected the dollar amounts were given to us. We figured the 'professionals' would know the correct square footage of materials required for the job taking into account normal scrap amounts. BEWARE: FCA TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR RECCOMENDED QUANTITIES OF TILE TO PURCHASE. Once you sign to buy they do not stand behind their recommendation for amounts of material to buy. I tried repeatedly to point out that I'm happy I did not have them involved with any other aspect of my house!

But even as important work with someone who will not be afraid to give an opinion and advice but also someone who will ultimately honor your desires from an appearance and budget standpoint. Have a budget in mind and stay with in reasonable limits. Leave some budget for the professionals to do the work. Unless you are a professsional yourself.
Description of Work: We worked through Annette Zoleke at FCA. First we wanted a color scheme for our foyer, family room, kitchen and master suite. She began by personally coming to our home to get a flavor for what our style is. She took a lot of notes and then returned with recommended colors and shades for each room. This incluced colors and shades for walls, ceilings, and we just love what she did with the tray ceiling in our master bedroom. We have a painter that we like and he was completely in agreement with what Annette had selected for the vaious areas. Next we began to discuss upgrading our kitchen. It was original from when the house was built in '96. She invited us to FCA's showroom where she did a complete show and tell for counter tops, back splash, sink and faucet, etc. Having never done this kind of updating to a house before she was most instrumental in helping us avoid pitfalls that we certainly would have taken. Ultimatle we made a decision and signed purchase orders to make the transition from formica to granite counter tops and cooridnating backsplash and sink. She spent many hours at the granite warehouse helping us select the exact slabs that would be used and then getting involved in an instant when a mistake was made in cutting out the sink pattern. Her efforts resulted in only a two day delay which was not fault of hers. While this was taking place Annette took my wife to a lighting store in another community to select the style, color and design of new lighting that would go with our new look in the kitchen, eating area and powder room. They all look great. The final decisions she made with my wife was for window treatments for the patio door and in the boxed out window over the sink. She helped my wife select custome material that was ultimately hand made for the window. The entire project was a complete success.
