Tim (customer serv./staff) very helpful in helping to choose carpeting meeting my needs. We had to delay installation almost 6 months due to personal reasons - never any pressure to rush but Tim stayed in touch. When installation day came, minor problem with what owed. Tim took care of immediately and installation proceeded. Installers were neat, on time, professional and did great job - in and out. Very pleased. nd time we've used FCA and same experience as 1st time.

The quality of the work performed was outstanding, and thankfully we were extremely happy with the finished results. Our subcontractor that performed the work was excellent, Luke Saunoris with Rite Way flooring was extremely detailed and made sure to lay the floor so that there were no wavers in the sight lines of the floor down the long hallways and open areas. He also was able to install the floor without any room transitions which made for a much cleaner presentation in the open areas and doorways. We were impressed with the amount of labor that was required to remove the layers of old flooring and the attention to detail necessary to lay down new plywood underlay which had to be cut in around the conduit running across the subfloor. Where the process broke down and left us extremely disappointed and frustrated was the back office administration. We purchased the home in March and decided not to move in until the flooring was complete. We signed an agreement with FCA in early April with an estimate of 6 weeks to completion, however the work wasn't completed until near the end of June (almost double the estimate!). There were multiple scheduling conflicts and confusion. For example, the demolition/removal of the old floors wasn't started until after the new flooring had arrived (rather than completing it during the 2-week delivery window for the new flooring), which caused multiple weeks of unnecessary delay. Also, there were days that work wasn't completed when it was supposed to because the sub-contractors were put on other new jobs instead of continuing the work on ours already in progress. We also received multiple phone calls from the office where they were confused and second guessing our selections, and also when they misplaced our house key which meant I had to leave work and meet the contractors at the home. Perhaps this was just our experience due to the office sales rep we happened to work with, but I won't be going back to find out!
Description of Work: Installed new bamboo flooring throughout entire main level of home (1,600sq ft). Also removed existing multiple layers of old flooring (carpet, hardwood, vinyl tile, concrete, etc.) down to subfloor level, built back up to baseboards using plywood underlay.

I was disappointed the lack of transparency and upfront explanation.
Description of Work: I worked with a designer to select a rug. When a sample was not available to see in person, designer suggested to purchase rug, but be able to return for a full refund if I did not like. IT took multiple phone calls to GET the designer to provide rug information, and then multiple phone calls to confirm rig arrived at store. My husband picked it up and they did not provide bill of sale nor refund policy. When I tried to return rug few weeks later (less than 30 days), they would not take rug back because I did not have bill of sale and the return policy was 2 days. None of this was explained.

[Member Name Removed] was a client. She purchased a rug on July 29, 2014. She picked up and signed for it on August 14, 2014 just two weeks later. Our Designer told her that if she didn't like the color we would take it back because she selected it out of a catalog. Several days later our Designer called her back to ask how she liked the rug, left a message but never received a return phone call. In fact we never heard from her again. No voice message and no email - nothing. She never did returned the rug, It doesn't seem fair for someone to write a review like this one ten months later. We were quite willing to stand behind our promise.

This started out great. FCA?s showroom is impressive with a huge number of quality products to choose from. I worked with a designer and she was a great help. I left happy and confident in my choice of FCA and their products. The problem started when the items started to (eventually) arrive. The light fixture took 4 weeks to arrive. There was a three week wait just to get the counter person out to measure. None of this was communicated to me, the products just were not there. If there was an issue or a delay I had to make the call. When my contractor went to pick up the items there were fixture parts that were not part of my order that had to be returned and parts of the towel racks were missing along with some of the shower fixture parts. How this happened I have no idea. Does FCA not check the order? Once it was discovered there were missing parts I did not get any information from FCA. I had to call to find out if and when the right parts would arrive. It was not possible to make and keep a schedule due to FCA and their reluctance to communicate if there was a problem getting an item or when a missing part would arrive. When I finally received all the towel rack parts it was discovered that there was damage and a replacement was needed. During this I received no communication from FCA. They would talk to the contractor but nothing for the person who purchased the hardware. Is me calling them a requirement? Quality products yes, customer service no.

Was supposed to be a two day job. At 5 pm they said they were going to finish that day - even though it was Friday and we had plans. They said they were told it was a one day job. 3 more people showed up at 5:30 and they stayed until almost 9 pm. They ruined walls, furniture and trim. Carpeting has lumps and seams showing. They put furniture back in wrong rooms and moved valuable items they were not suppose to touch.

FCA Interior Designers, Justine Domke and Anne Kaye-Jewett, visited our Condo to provide some design ideas for a fireplace enclosure that we were considering for our living room. On our own we were originally going to go with a custom wood fireplace cabinet to hold the Dimplex electric firebox that we were about to purchase. Anne and Justine provided an excellent design alternative for a natural ledger stone, floor to ceiling enclosure, built against a wall that is the focal point of our living area as we view our wooded/river outdoor scenery. Working with Justine, we selected the ledger stone to match our FCA installed Mirage Maple Engineered Hardwood flooring (which Anne also coordinated all of it with our FCA purchased furniture and area rugs). Together we also designed a unique, one of a kind, to the ceiling hidden storage area behind the ledger stone enclosure that otherwise would have been unused, and in a Condo every space is valuable. David Hargis, the FCA Project Coordinator, visited our Condo on a number of occasions to review the worksite and get ready for the installer, Eric. Since we have both concrete ceiling and floor that have both heating coils and post-tension cabling, Eric installed the framing for the enclosure without drilling or fastening into either the floor or ceiling. The installation went smoothly and the result is beautiful and adds a touch of the outside into our living room, in addition to providing supplemental heat. The design and installation is unique to our Condo building and will provide many hours of relaxed reading in front of the fireplace. It was a pleasure working with FCA on this project. We are happy with the results and it was a good price for the service and high quality of the finished product.

While we were working with Justine Domke at FCA for purchasing and installing a hardwood floor (see separate review), the FCA Senior Interior Designer, Anne Kaye-Jewett, came to our Condo to provide some interior design advice on new furniture and area rugs to go with our new hardwood maple flooring. We had no idea that FCA has a full service showroom that not only includes floor coverings, but all types of furniture and home accessories. We had some stringent requirements on size, comfort, and bringing the lovely outdoor wooded/river view that we enjoy into our living/dining area through the furniture that we wanted to purchase. Anne had some great ideas and she worked closely with us in making sure she understood our requirements and our style. We looked at other furniture stores for pieces and ideas and would take these comments back to Anne who would work it into picking out furniture she thought would fit our requirements. It was a long process, since we were very particular, and Anne was very patient throughout the entire time. The two area rugs were delivered first, and after a week of use, there appeared a manufacturer problem with a few of the carpet loops. Anne had them replaced in a very short time with the same manufacturer, and now after many weeks, there are no issues and we love the softness and the rich look of the carpets. They are an excellent match to the furniture, all thanks to Anne and her design expertise. The furniture fabric color and leather color where suggested by Anne based on her knowledge of working with us,viewing our space, and meeting with us over a couple of months. We are absolutely thrilled with the colors, the fabric, the leather and the quality of the furniture. As with the hardwood flooring, we would highly recommend FCA and Anne Kaye-Jewett for furniture and area rugs. We are extremely happy with how the entire project has turned out. The price for the quality and service was well earned.

From our first encounter with Justine Domke, sales person/designer in the FCA showroom, through the final installation, FCA did an outstanding job in answering questions, working with us on the design, measuring our flooring area, ordering materials and completing the hardwood floor installation. FCA provided the best price on this high end engineered hardwood flooring along with the best installation price and we are thrilled with the results. Although we had already explored the Mirage brand of hardwood flooring and were convinced this was the best flooring available for our heated concrete floor, Justine still took time to explain to us the advantages of this product. Their rep for measuring our floor, and the installers, were on time, efficient and polite. Garth and his helper did an excellent job of removing the old carpet and installing the new hardwood floor. We live in a condo and there are regulations about hauling out removed carpet and waste materials from the building, and not adding to the Condo waste stream. FCA not only hauled the old carpet out, but they took it to their facility where it is recycled. Other installers in the building working on other units, threw removed carpeting in the building trash. During the installation, Garth and his helper kept the area clean, kept the new flooring from not getting marked up, and were polite and easy to talk to. Overall, it was a pleasure working with FCA on this flooring project, the price was right, and the work was excellent. We would highly recommend FCA and Justine Domke in particular for a hardwood flooring installation.

Lisa the sales consultant was friendly and responsive. Handled all plans with me. Brain the installation lead was prompt. experienced, friendly, and done on time.
Description of Work: Removal of old flooring and installation of new floor. Prior estimate, home visit, measurements were done.
Our new floors are beautiful and we are extremely pleased with the results of this project. Our designer was Annette and she is a very good communicator. Annette assisted us in many ways by making suggestions and guiding us throughout the project. Tony and Daniel supervised the job and they are absolute professionals. Manuel was the installer and he is a hard working and dedicated craftsman that I would be pleased to have do more work for us - he was that good. Our house is 62 years old and the former floor was installed on top of "sleepers" that made the floor creak when walked on. The old hardwood floor, sub-floor and sleepers were all removed and 2 layers of 3/4 inch subfloor and a single layer of 1/4 inch were put down to bring the new floor up to the level of the floor in the kitchen and family room. The stain and finishing is perfect and no more creaks! They also repaired the stairways and installed new carpeting for $1,200. No more squeaks or creaks on the stairways either.
Description of Work: FCA installed 800 square feet of new hardwood floor and refinished 400 square feet of existing floor to match. They also repaired the stairways to the basement and installed new carpeting.

Purchase and Installation was for a three room office in a professional building and went flawlessly, as expected. We say as expected because we had used the same people when we built our home several years ago and they were spot on, from design services to hard wood flooring, tile, and carpet., in an upper range priced home .....and I was requiring perfection ! So if it helps,.. over the years we had used other flooring company's, most no longer in business, this company has been, and seems like it will be around for a long time with more than one location. iI there is a question they seem to realistically want to resolve whatever it is that your not understanding. We have dealt with them on several occasions over the past several years and have found them to be forthright, honest , diligent , and fairly priced. We believe that when you use them you will be happy with your choice, as are the other people we know that have used them.

Purchasing the carpets was a wonderful experience. However, when it came to the actual installation, that was a nightmare. The installer was insistent that I leave the apartment and go downstairs. Fortunately, I didn't. In addition to them placing the carpet (it was not enclosed in any protective covering) on the ground (this was during the winter), the y proceeded to stamp on it in order to bend it in half. During the installation, they didn't care whether they were trekking in dirt and snow. They also had cut the padding in 9 sections rather than in only 3. The sections of padding were also cut where they had laid other pieces of padding down and cut. We had a minimum of 14 cuts throughout. I ended up getting additional padding and laying down myself.

Response from FCA Flooring Specialists
Three years ago on August 28, 2011 this customer ordered a remnant of carpet (material only) from our Joliet store and informed us that she had her own installer to do the work. On Sept 6, 2011 however she changed her mind and wanted FCA to perform the installation instead of her installer. She then scheduled and cancelled her installation date five more times. In fact over a two year period between September of 2011 and November of 2013 we tried monthly to contact her by phone, email and actual letters sent by mail. Eventually we caught up to her and a date was found. It is true that our installers removed their shoes inside her house but that was because her sidewalk and porch were completely covered by snow and the installers did not want to get their socks wet. Next, she started an argument with the installers about how to install the carpet. So the installers concluded that they simply couldn’t satisfy her and so they left. After we made another series of phone calls and emails all unanswered on April 12, 2014 she finally picked up her carpet remnant and that was the last we heard of her. It’s too bad Angie’s list doesn’t rate customers. We would definitely not give this one high marks..

My floor was damaged due to the leaky patio door. The boards were discolored, they had shrunk, and the tops looked like they had been scraped as one could scrape the top of butter with the tines of a fork. I was very upset since this was new construction. I found a coupon from FCA in my Angie’s list magazine, so I called them. They said someone would return my call, but that call never came. I decided to not deal with them. I feel that if a company doesn’t treat you properly during the sales cycle, it will be worse after the sale is made. I tried several companies after that, but either they were too far away or didn’t do this type of work. (Frankly, I think they thought the job was too small.) Finally, I decided to try FCA again and went to the store where I spoke to a designer. She was very nice, and wasted no time requesting a $50 fee to come out and measure. She said someone would call me the following week. That was March 1st. The following week, I didn’t get a call, so I called them. With some difficulty, we scheduled a time. I did not get a call the night before the man was supposed to come out, and that always makes me nervous. Twenty minutes after the time he was to arrive, I starting making calls. I called the manager but only got voicemail. I called the store. They weren’t much help but the guy finally did call me to tell me he was locked out of his car and didn’t think he would be able to make it. That was unacceptable, so I called the store, again, and discussed it with them. I told them I was really disappointed because they’d gotten such good reviews in Angie’s List but that I was not experiencing that. Through many frustrating calls, I managed to get him to my house later that evening. He took pictures, asked to look at the wood that was left over, and readied himself to leave. When I asked him if he could give me a ball park cost estimate, he said he could not. When I asked them what the next steps were, he said he didn’t know. Nothing happened for about 2 weeks, and then I called my designer to find out what was going on. Her reply was, “he came out there and measured?! He didn’t tell me that!” She said she would get back to me next week. She did not. When I called her, and asked the same question, I was astounded to get the same answer: ”he came out there and measured?! He didn’t tell me that!” By now, I was thinking I was not going to get my floor done. So, I called and spoke to the designer. She said she would call me on Wednesday for certain with an update. They were talking to the mill. It was closed, so she would absolutely call me on Wednesday. Of course, this did not happen, but someone left a voicemail for me that Friday saying they were still talking to the mill. Luckily, I found another company on Angie’s list around mid-April because FCA was not doing anything. I do want to make one observation. They were talking to the mill for at least 2 weeks. When I finally decided to go with another company, I ordered my flooring from Home Depot on a Thursday night around 8p, and they sent me a text on Monday while I was at work telling me my flooring was in. All I got from FCA was confusion, delays and lies. When I finally felt confident the other company would come through, I called FCA and asked for my $50 back. They did. August 3, 2014 - I just wanted to provide a response to their response (1) My home being new construction, the builder put in the floor. So, the ‘unknown company’ is the builder. (2) When your field inspector finally came, he barely said anything. Each question I asked elicited the same response: “I don’t know.” He did not advise me about the ensuring the leak was repaired. I already knew that. My inspector told me to wait 1 year to ensure all was fixed, and I waited 3 years. (3) Your company looked for that wood for months (or at least you said you did) – even with info the field inspector got from the box of remaining wood. I got it in 5 days when I ordered it online. This was my final straw with FCA. Flooring is not my business yet I was able to do something you were unable to do in a fraction of the time. I ordered it on a Thursday night around 8p, and they texted me the following Monday afternoon saying it was ready for pick up at the store. I bought 2 boxes. It came from a big box store. (4) I found another company via Angie’s List who did the work in 6 hours, and they did BEAUTIFUL work. I am including photos. It cost me $800. And they did give me a ton of advice. Working with you made me appreciate them all the more. I don’t know why you didn’t want to do the job but I can see why your person isn’t being totally honest. It does not reflect well on your company. When you state that instead of making a decision, I asked for my money back, this is misleading. You make it appear as if you found the wood, and I was hesitating. You never found it, and I’m glad at least you didn’t say you did. You just tried to make it sound like it was my fault. I called in March, but started looking for someone else in late April after all the waiting. The last straw for me was when I was able to get that wood in 5 days after waiting so long. Lastly, I think the only reason you refunded me the $50 Field Inspection fee was because I’m an Angie’s List member. You can’t take people’s money and then not do anything. I totally stand by this review.

Response from FCA Flooring Specialists
After reading this review I spoke with the FCA designer and the FCA field inspector involved in this case. Here is what I learned: [member name removed] hardwood floor installation was originally performed by an unknown company, not FCA. Our designer sent one of our field inspectors into her home to determine what would be involved in fixing her damaged floor. It is always important to determine if there is dry rot or mildew - there was none. Our field inspector told her that she needed to make sure that the leaky patio door was either repaired or replaced so that rain would not leak in again and ruin the new floor after it was repaired. Our field inspector informed her furthermore that by replacing the ruined floor boards with new material there would be an obvious patch in the floor. He advised her that it would be better to replace the entire floor and that she should probably contact either her builder or her insurance company to cover the replacement cost. In the meantime, our designer was working with Armstrong to see if they could find materials that would at least match the original hardwood in case she decided to just patch the floor. Armstrong was checking around the country asking their distributors to see if any material from that run was still available. Instead of making a decision, [member name removed] called our designer and asked us to refund back to her the $50.00 Field Inspection fee. We did not hesitate to send her money back.

Our experience with them was very good. They were very helpful and they gave us very good service. We didn’t have any idea what we wanted. They showed us racks and racks of tiles. We actually went back about five times before we actually decided. They were very patient with us. We were totally satisfied with them. We looked at other places and their price was compatible with them. The tile came in when they said it would. Their professionalism was excellent.
Description of Work: We got our backsplash tile from FCA Flooring Specialists.
Tom at FCA was "very" helpful. Jesusi, our installer & his two crew members were on time, work was done well and quickly. All the old carpet was hauled away and they left the house clean and orderly.
Description of Work: The salesman, Tom at FCA bought us larger samples, so we got a better look at what we purchased. He also thoroughly explained the process of installing tile in one of the rooms.
After having a disappointing experience with a different company, I perused Angie's List and found FCA. I went to the showroom and spoke with Latti. She was wonderful! She listened to my concerns and made excellent recommendations for my needs. She is obviously a designer at heart and seemed to truly enjoy helping me. I had tile installed in my kitchen and carpetting in my living room, dining room, hallway, and closets. Latti made sure my entire experience was seamless. The installers were on time, even a bit early on the second day. Everyone was courteous and professional, leaving my place clean and unmarred. They were careful moving my furniture, including my grandfather's antique bar and an immensely heavy armoire. The results were fantastic! Thanks to Latti's designer vision and everyone's professionalism, I had a very satisfying experience. I HIGHLY recommend this company!
