Terrible. They abandoned me.
Description of Work: I wanted to purchase a tankless water heater. They recommended the Eternal brand as " the best on the market." A few years later it has a leak. I call for service and they tell me there is nothing they can do. They no longer support the brand (that they sold me). They did offer to sell me a new water heater.

Response from AquaTech Plumbing
Whoa! The MANUFACTURER left the USA! No plumber can get parts! There IS no brand! It's not that we no longer support it. When Eternal just up and left, the entire industry was shocked and it was nothing anyone could have foreseen. There were a few plumbers who still had a few old parts, so we suggested that to help you! Since we aren't the manufacturers there is NOTHING we can do, except change it out to another brand. You have always been a great customer and I had no idea you felt abandoned. I'm so sorry, but my hands are still tied to do anything other than that for you.

I had contacted them for installing a new water heater. Andy, the woman who answers the phone and coordinated everything is very competent. I would give her and A+ on all fronts. The quote I got on the water heater alone was competent and in line with other quotes. However, the price I got for extras - moving the water heater a foot away from the old one, putting a drip pan underneath etc. - was 3x the quotes from others. So I decided to go with another plumber.
Description of Work: Their plumber came out to give me a quote on installing a new water heater about a foot away from my old one. I was charged $26 for the visit.

They were very prompt. They looked over everything that needed to be done and got started right away. There were two plumbers and they had both job done in less than 45 minutes. The quote and final cost were identical. They were quick and efficient. We will certainly give them a call the next time we need a plumber.
Description of Work: They installed a gas shut off valve for a new gas stove, which involved some rerouting of the current gas line. They also capped an unused and leaking cold water faucet in our garage.

The price that they quote me was too high and was $800, but was twice of what I ended up paying. My experience with them in terms of getting a quote went very well. They were out promptly, professionally and everything was fine, except that they did not accept the bid. I thought that they were very thorough in telling me what they were doing and why they were doing it. They were very understandable and it was clear that they were a good company and knew what they were doing.

I researched the price for a water heater replacement with a number of providers. Home depot quoted approximately $800, but offered a $500 "gold" package that would cover the cost of any required modifications to the install - like code updates. A local plumbing business i used previously quoted approximately $1000 and Sears showed online about the same price installed. I found Aquatech online and called and spoke with Andrea. She was very knowledgeable, quoted an installed price of $798, and spent time explaining Aquatech's service history. This was important as i was unfamiliar with Aquatech. I also inquired about the next model up in the Bradford White line and Andrea spent time getting me a quote from their supplier. The installers were scheduled to arrive between 2-4. I received a call before 2 that they'd arrive closer to 4. I received a call around 4 that they'd arrive around 5 or 5:15, which they did. I rated punctuality as a B as a result, but I appreciated the courtesy of the calls and understand that sometimes that's how things work. Upon arrival the installers inspected our current unit and explained our connections and water shut-off would need to be replaced in order to meet code as well as to prevent leaks that may occur if we reused the existing connections. The additional price was $225. Obviously I was disappointed at the additional cost, but what they said seemed reasonable and I didn't get the impression they were trying to gouge me for unnecessary work. It took them approximately 2 hours to remove and replace the heater. The install looks good from the perspective of an untrained eye and they didn't leave a mess behind. Further, they took the time to explain how to restart the unit should the pilot light go out. I had a couple of plumbing questions unrelated to the water heater that they also took time to answer. All in all, it was a good experience from start to finish and I'd recommend Aquatech to others.

They were professional and on time. They got the work done very quickly and were reasonably priced too. I was impressed by their professionalism and the truck that they had. It looked like somebody that was all prepared to come and take care of things and not just show up, chat for a few minutes and leave. They were very good. They looked like they could handle just about anything on the spot. My overall experience with them was great.

They were expensive for the job they did. We decided we will not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They originally came out to reset my commode. While he was here and got it done before the hour was up, I had him look at my outdoor faucet that was leaking. It is an inside/outside faucet and when he left, I hooked up the hose to water flowers it was leaking worse. I called the dispatcher and she called him to tell him my faucet was still leaking and she told me that he said he never touched the faucet or had anything to do with it.

The water heater began leaking late on Friday afternoon. When I called the office, they offered to come that night without hesitancy. I set up the call for the following Saturday morning. Alan, the plumber, was prompt, coming in only 15 minutes past early range time. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and patient in answering my questions.
Description of Work: The plumber assessed the leak in the water heater, and recommended installing a new one. He removed the old one and took it for recycling, and installed a new tank water heater and water shut-off valve in about 2 hours total.

"Third time" was the charm with AquaTech and owner Larry Moore in trying to get an Angie's List plumber willing to install a 'tankless water heater" to our ranch home. First plumber was called out for this job amoung others being desire (travel charge of $49) and turned out to not only be very expensive (for any job being discussed) but 'negative or problematic' on all aspects of installing a tankless. Second plumber was scheduled to visit for estimate but had to cancel in running late that day so rescheduled all the while mentioning I might want to stay with tank water heaters even though he was in the business of installing the tankless brand being considered and he'd never even seen my home yet! Never heard back from him. AquaTech was called, time was scheduled, and had a pleasant discussion with Larry on the project. He saw 'no problem' and I finally made a decision on the two brands of tankless water heaters we were discussing. Appointment was made for the following week. Larry's plumber's Al and Erin(sp) showed up as scheduled. Work commenced and was finished in under six hours time. Work done on mounting tankless and redoing copper/gas piping was a 'clean, organizied, and a professional job' unlike what was in the home prior with the tank water heaters. The tankless is performing better than our previous tank water heaters before according to the wife and we are happy as 'larks' with AquaTech's performance! I would seriously consider anyone to give a shot to AquaTech Plumbing towards having work performed and in having a pleasant experience with their staff in your request for help or advice!
Description of Work: Removing tank efficency water heaters, install tankless condensing hot water heater, remove, alter and redo copper/gas piping as needed, and slightly modify PVC direct venting as needed.

Christmas morning my sump pump decided to spring a leak. We were having a lot of rain that morning and I was frantic. I checked the list for plumbers who will come out on holidays. I called and talked to Andrea and told her the problem. She called me back after calling to see what techs were working and who was in the area. The owner of the company ended up coming out. Better yet, I knew him! My sons friends dad! He did a great job, and considering it was Christmas morning, the price wasn't that bad. He recommended replacing the sump pump and not repairing it as it was older. It made sense to me and he did the work. Very personable, very nice and most importantly, they got out here fast! So I got a new sump pump for Christmas! Better than a leaky old one. I feel much better having a new one.

My Garbage disposal died. I looked on Angie's list and found Aquatech. Andrea was great on the phone and new I had a meeting later that day so a had a hard stop that Alan needed to be in or out. She scheduled an another appointment time for the next day just in case Alan could not make my time frame today. He had two other jobs to complete before he came to my house. An hour later Anfrea called me and said Alan is on his way. I hang up the phone and Alan rings the door bell. My initial call was at 9am. Alan completed the job by 10:45am. Alan was Great! He was professional and adjusted my spigots and showed me how I could do it on my own in the future. I live in a multi unit building and did not want to risk doing this in my own. Plumbers are expensive and I am sure the clients that hire me for my work think the same, but we are all professionals and know our job. One last thing, the quality of the garbage disposal they put in was top of the line. I researched it on line before I called any plumber and Aquatech used it as their standard and had a link on their website so you could see it and the hear it operate. It was Great. I will use Aquatech in the future.

Yesterday morning I went into the basement and noticed a puddle on the floor in front of our 16 year old water heater. I checked Angie's List and made a few calls to plumbers in the area. Angela answered the phone at AquaTech and was able to answer all my questions. The price quoted was $100 less than the highest estimate I had received. In addition, the company was offering a $35 discount on installation through their web site. I called back after discussing prices with my husband and Angela scheduled our installation for between 8 and 10 AM this morning. I received a call at 7:50 AM today from Angela telling me that Dan was on his way. Dan was here right at 8:00 and was very professional and personable. He looked at the project and began working. Our home has hardwood floors on the main level and I was very concerned about protecting the floors. Dan always wore shoe covers, and he took extra care to be sure not to scrape the floors. I put down craft paper on the floors but Dan was also careful. Dan noticed that our shut-off valve was corroded and recommended replacing it, which we did. He also told us that our humidifier valve was prone to leaking due to its installation. We decided to wait on that repair since our furnace and air conditioner will be serviced later this summer. Dan asked if there were any other concerns in the house that we would like him to look at, We didn't have any other concerns. Dan went ahead and switched out the water heaters, made the new connections, and answered all my questions about safety, maintenance and efficiency. He carefully hauled the old heater up our basement stairs and cleaned up after himself. My husband and I were very pleased with his work and professionalism.

A representative from Aquatech called me back and scheduled the work for 5-4-09. Allan arrived first and did the majority of the installation. At times, Allan was assisted by another representative and Larry even stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly! I was initially told the water would be off for approximately 8 hours, however it was back on in less than 5. Allan explained how everything works, cleaned up after himself, and they not only took away the old water heater but also the old water softener (that wasn't being used). I was very impressed with the knowledge of Larry and his team and would recommend them to anyone. Several of my neighbors have expressed interest in a tankless water heater and I have referred Aquatech's name each and every time.
Description of Work: Larry came out and provided a quote to have a high-efficiency, tankless water heater installed. I was impressed with the knowledge Larry had on this particular type of water heater, (he and his team have installed many, including one at a friend's house a year ago), as well as the price provided. I called Larry a few hours after he left and told him I wanted to proceed with the work.

This job should have cost no more than $250. After learning about the parts and their prices, I seriously considered stopping payment on my check and filing a complaint with the BBB, especially since the new switch was inappropriate for this setting and made the problem worse. I will give this vendor credit for correcting the situation promptly. I should have done more research in advance and obtained more price quotes, but a sump pump problem is urgent. Lesson learned, but I will never use this vendor again.
Description of Work: Called Aquatech on a Monday for a failed sump pump switch in my crawlspace; the technician arrived on time the next morning. The technician inspected the sump pump and switch and offered quotes of $400 for the new switch--installed, $750 for a complete new pump with switch (1 year warranty), and a third high-end pump with a longer warranty. I opted for the switch only. The technician replaced an old tether-style switch with a Glentronics dual-float electronic switch in less than half an hour. The new switch was a problem; it ran the pump for 10 seconds (as programmed) after the float dropped. With the size of my sump, and the flow rate of the groundwater, the pump was switching on and off 4 times a minute, lowering the water level only 3-4" in a 30" deep sump. The new switch was inappropriate for this setting. In the meantime, I did a little research on the internet, and found this Glentronics pump switch available for $42 online. I also found that it came with a one-year warranty, which Aquatech did not offer in turn. I also found several categories of pump switches, several of which would be better suited to this installation. I called Aquatech back on Wednesday, and explained the situation and insisted that it be corrected. I also pointed out that they charged me $400 for a $42 part and less than a half-hour of labor, and that I expected no other charges to get this job done right. The dispatcher relayed my concern to the technician, who called back promptly. After consulting with his supervisor, he came back on Friday morning with a different style of float switch; he swapped out the Glentronics switch for a more suitable type and corrected the problem. No extra fee. By the way, the technician was on time, friendly and courteous, even on his second trip back.

Response from AquaTech Plumbing
In reply to the member's statement: “The new switch was inappropriate for this setting. In the meantime, I did a little research on the internet, and found this Glentronics pump switch available for $42 online. I also found that it came with a one-year warranty, which Aquatech did not offer in turn.” We were instructed by Glentronics that this switch was appropriate. We had just switched to Glentronics, because we determined their products to be superior to what we were using previously. We obviously had a learning curve and were given wrong information. Unfortunately the member suffered. The one year warranty on the switch is “offered” by Glentronics and is automatic, so we don’t understand the statement that this was not “offered” by AquaTech. Our labor always has a one year warranty on whatever we do for customers. That is automatic as well, and is in all of our marketing materials and on our invoice. Regarding his other comment: “I also pointed out that they charged me $400 for a $42 part and less than a half-hour of labor, and that I expected no other charges to get this job done right.” We would never charge a customer to make things right. And the new switch which we used to replace the Glentronics switch was quite a bit more expensive. We did not charge him more for the new, more expensive switch. I would like him to know that the original $400 charge includes more than the $42 for the part and a half-hour of labor. The plumber’s drive time to the job is also included, (he does get paid for this). Our flat rate pricing formula includes an allocation of our overhead expenses included in each job, encompassing the plumber’s training and his license costs (to be able to do this job quickly and efficiently – the ability to be that fast takes training and experience. He complained that Al did the job quickly. Personally, I’d rather have any workmen out of my house as quickly as possible), the gas and insurance on the truck, the salary of the person answering the phone, the mortgage on our shop, and our advertising costs (EXPENSIVE!). I’m sure he has never advertised in the yellow pages! Using a flat rate price which includes this complicated formula is what the more progressive plumbing companies use now so that you make sure all your costs of doing business are covered, and it actually saves customers money over using an hourly rate platform. Hourly rates allow a plumber to waste time, make a phone call, and go get parts, etc. on a customer’s time. And we don’t want that. Flat rate is definitely the better way to price. We regret that we made a mistake at his home and I’m glad that we could correct it. I am also disappointed that we lost a customer.

In 2001 I bought a home that was built in 1976. I was getting yellow spots on all my clothes and the dish washer wasn't cleaning properly so in 2003 I hired a local plumber to install a water softner (Aqua Tech Plumbing). Since plumber was out installing water softner had him replace the 25 year old hot water heater in the house. In 2006 I had that plumbing company back to quote installing a bathroom in my basement. His quote was 3x the amount of others and he gave my quote to a male friend who was doing work in the basement for me. My male friend is in the trades and asked the guy, "why so much?" His reply: "She can afford it, don't you know what she does for a living?" The plumber (owner) thought he was talking to another contractor but it was my friend. Then in 2008 there was a ton of water leaking so I called a Heating/Air Company out because I thought it was coming from the Heater. It was the Hot Water Heater not my home heating system. While the company was here I asked why after I had a water softner installed I was still getting yellow spots on clothes and dish washer not working. He looked around and noted that the water softner was ONLY connected to my faucets in my upstairs bathroom. I called the owner of Aqua Tech plumbing and asked him to come replace his water heater that was broke and to fix the water softner connection properly. The owner argued with me that I only asked him to hook up the water softner to my bathroom faucets and that he would have to charge me full-price to come replace the hot water heater. Told him would not use him again. Called out another plumbing company to replace the broken water heater (5 year warranty so at least I didn't have to pay for the new water heater itself) and had them properly hook up the water softner to everything in the house and TA Da!!!! Clean clothes with no yellow spots and the dish washer working. Also, they were nice enough to point out some of the connections that Aqua Tech did that were not TO CODE! Being a single female that has to rely on the trades to fix things for her...it is very disheartening to figure out in the end how bad I was taken advantage of!
Description of Work: Installed new water softner and hot water heater.

I'm very satisfied with the work they've done. Larry, the owner, has been very good about answering my questions, coming out to my house to see what I wanted for himself. And, I feel very comfortable that he is providing adequate supervision to the plumbers that are working for him. I feel very comfortable with the quality of the work that they've done for me.
Description of Work: They have done the rough plumbing work for a kitchen/family room remodel, including getting rid of existing plumbing and installing new plumbing for a sink, dishwasher and refrigerator, as well as gas for a cooktop and gas fireplace.
