Wilson Home Restorations

This was the second batch of windows that we had Wilson replace. The first batch was 11 windows done just after Christmas 2012. This second batch was done in April 2013. The installers arrived when they said they would and worked very efficiently and quickly to replace our windows. There were three installers; one worked on the inside and the other two were outside. They completely rebuilt the outside of our window openings with new material, filled in weight pockets with foam, and insullated completely around the entire opening. All exterior wood was covered with aluminum and sealed with caulking. There was very little clean up on our part after they were done. They covered everything before they began and cleaned up when they were done. I am really enjoying the new windows. Before I had old windows with wooden storms and I was getting tired of climbing up and down the ladder with the old storms in my hands. The are also significantly more efficient in keeping out the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer. The finish on the windows matches out interior woodwork very closely. Jim Wilson was very nice to work with and I feel recommended the right product/solution for what I was trying to accomplish. I would definitely use them again for other projects around "this old house."

There was miscommunication at both ends of the location of the problem

The project went well. I had initially requested an estimate for the repairs but then tried to do the repairs on my own. When I found, late in the fall, that the job was above my expertise, I asked Jim Wilson to come in and do the work. They did the job promptly and professionally with little notice.

They did a nice job. They painted the siding to match our home before installing which worked out well.

Very punctual estimating, answered all my questions, estimator was available to answer all of my concerns and "what ifs" via email. They even went the extra mile and performed a few extras. Estimated it to be a two day job and were in and out in one full day. Great cleanup and great work. I'm already mulling over a few other projects I'd like to have them take on. Only downside was the time from the initial estimate until the work was performed was probably 8-10 weeks, but iattribute that to good, fair priced work being in high demand.

Replaced 35 year old wood windows with "Sunrise" vinyl windows and covered the wood soffits and freeze boards with aluminum. The workmanship was excellent. The wood window frames were completely removed. The new windows were not "inserts" so we actually increased the glass area at least 15%. A couple 'A' listed references told me they could not do full frame windows..only inserts where the old window frame is left. Their windows are installed within the old window frames thus reducing the glass area. The workmen were courteous and cleaned up all the construction material scrapes. The aluminum trim is flat and and well trimmed. I opted for a heavy gage aluminum to assure a flat look.

They did a perfect job. I used them in the past for a much larger job - installing windows in our whole house. They recommended exactly the right windows and installation was great.

The experience went good but not excellent. He didn't order the correct windows for me but we were able negotiate a price that was right for us. It just took a little longer than we though. Jim the owner is extremely nice and personable. The quality of work was really good.

We had been getting estimates for siding replacement for a few years - totally maybe 6 different companies or more. We needed to figure out what we were doing about replacing brick with stone and how much of the existing siding would be replaced with stone or siding, so this was a long process. I called Wilson Home Restoration after seeing their work with HardiBoard siding on a house in my neighborhood. Jim was very responsive to our request for an estimate and also very patient while we figured out exactly what we wanted to do with the outside of our house as we were changing things a bit. He was also patient while we figured out our financing and was always available to answer any questions we had. He also referred an excellent mason for our brick/stone work and helped us work around that part of the project. His crew was always prompt, clean, courteous and did excellent work. We tweaked a few details of the design of a part of the house and his workers were very helpful and patient while we worked this out. I hope not to need anymore work done on the exterior of our house, but if we did, I would certainly call them again.

They sent the quote by email. They were more expensive than another company so we decided to go with the other company.

They did a nice job. They were prompt and they cleaned up. They did what was expected of them.

We have used Wilson Home Restorations twice before. They did a great job previously, so it wasn't hard choosing them again. Jim, the owner, came out checked the area in question and sent me an email within a few days. We accepted his proposal and he came out and replaced the gutters in one afternoon. No muss, no fuss!

We received quotes from about five companies, including ones from Pella and Anderson direct, plus about three other distributors (two handled Marvin). We compared them carefully on a spreadsheet and Wilson was the best in terms of price, guarantee, features, etc. We have also used them on two other occasions and were very satisfied. The only reason we are not giving them all perfect scores on all rating categories is perhaps more our fault than theirs...I was looking for a particular look to match the existing historical windows in our 1925 home, and the newer exterior moldings surrounding the windows that is routinely used on new replacement windows is not as detailed (in fact, no detail - basic square extruded aluminum) as the original wood moldings. So we lost a bit of the historical integrity of the home. Again, not really their fault, but we didn't know what we didn't know when we made our selection. In a perfect world they'd have highlighted this to us so we knew what to expect. Beyond this, and again, as much if not more our fault than theirs, they did an excellent job on this third project we've contracted with them. Scott's very responsive and direct, meets commitments.

We thought the price was reasonable. We had three different places out to give estimates. They might not have been the cheapest, but their solution seemed to be the best. We liked the way they did problem solving with the types of windows. We were very happy with their work.

We checked out many companies and finally be settled for this one. They were very competent and reasonably priced. They were good. Other companies were also cheap, but we did not find them to be good enough. I would recommend Wilson Home Restorations to others.

We were more than satisfied with the quick response to our call all the way through the project. Everything was very professional and we were kept up to date on everything by Jim, our sales rep. Clean up was great after the project as well. The windows look like they are original to the porch! We had several other companies out, but Jim came up with the best style window from a functional aspect as well as something that was consistent with the style of our home. Would recommend them any time or have future work done if needed.

Mid-price of 3 estimates. Work well done and on schedule. Very professional workman. Cleaned up well after each phase. Had some shingles lifting high winds in the spring. One phone call regarding the problem and the shingles were secured.

They came right out and took care of things. The quote was for $175. They were really good and perfectly fine. They were quick and I have no complaints. I was really happy with them. The only downside was that whatever they said needed to be done I could do myself.

I could always get hold of Jim Wilson. He would return my phone calls when I had a question or something. I would recommend them. I did have a couple of issues mainly with the sub-contractor, but it was through Wilson. The sub-contractor was creating problems with them. I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

Jim, the owner, came out and looked at all the gutters and told us exactly what had to be done to correct the problem. He made a drawing of the plan and submitted his proposal in a few days. The workers did exactly what they were suppose to do in a very professional manner.

They were great. They were professional, responsive and timely. The price was reasonable.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would definitely use them again.
