Went well. The workers showed up on the day agreed upon. Work was done quickly and efficiently. Only complaint was that a small bulldozer was digging up the railroad ties and just pushing them and toppling them off to the sides, which was digging up my turf on the sides of the driveway. I was glad that I had gone out when I heard them starting on the driveway. I asked them to please place the ties on the side together and out of the way. The company had told me in advance that they wouldn't dispose of the ties, but would dig them up. I thought they could have been a little more careful. Small complaint. The driveway looks good.

American Asphalt did a great job replacing our old driveway (20 yrs. old). They had a large crew that worked very fast. We were very happy with the job and the driveway has held up well over the past winter. We didn't get a price comparison but were satisfied with the charges.

Very professional, from the young lady making the appointment, to the entire crew brushing on the sealcoat. This company also put in this new driveway just last year. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

I called American Asphalt and left a message regarding having a new aphalt driveway put in. An estimator called me back and took all the information. I waited to receive a quote but never got one. I called back and spoke to someone who said that she didn't think they served the area where the driveway would be installed. I told her that was weird because I already spoke to the estimator and he told me he'd get back to me. She said she would speak to the estimator and have him call me. I still haven't received a call back. If this is indicative of their level of service, I wouldn't use them even if they did call back.

Great. Mr. Morin came out to do the estimate and explained the whole process to me. Since I wanted to widen the driveway a little because of a tree, he made the really helpful suggestion to use brick pavers (instead of asphalt, which would have benefited his company), as the appearance of wider asphalt wouldn't have matched our narrow lot and existing concrete entry area as well. Another company just gave us an estimate for the wider asphalt driveway, which I think in retrospect would have looked weird. I was a bit surprised that he was personally also here for all of the work, so everything turned out exactly as he said it would, and it looks amazing.

American Asphalt did a great job with my new driveway. The entire process from the estimate to completion of the work was flawless. Tear out of the old driveway took 1 day and my new asphalt was put in the next. Everyone was very professional and I'm very happy with their work.

The project turned out fine. They shoed up when they said they would. Overall they did a pretty good job.

Live in Lake in the Hills (McHenry County) and emailed for an estimate to replace an asphalt driveway. I was called and informed that they do not service my area. Nothing negative is to be inferred from this - just info on service areas. They claim to serve McHenry County but they do not - at least not all of it. Lake in the Hills is in the far southeast portion of the county near Lake, Cook and Kane. Based on that - if you live in McHenry County - save yourself a phone call.

Entire transaction was a pleasant experience. Workers were polite and friendly. Work site was left clean.

They were punctual and pleasant to work with especially when it came to dealing with our city and its permit requirements. The job took two days but when it came time to lay the asphalt. it took just a couple of hours.

It went very well. I chose these guys because they had a lot of Angie's List reviews, and the reviews were overwhelmingly favorable. This is a small but very well run operation. The crew of nine workers showed up at the appointed time, and within 2 hours they had removed the old driveway, smoothed over the substrate, laid the asphalt, and steamrolled it. They beveled the edges, matched the height of the lip of the garage, strung a string across the driveway, and left me with a booklet. All in 2 hours, and the old, raggedy, potholed, old driveway is gone, and my beautiful new one is here for all to admire. Thanks, guys.

Our project was postponed by the recent construction strike, which closed down all the asphalt plants, and we were afraid we'd be forgotten. Not so. Strike ended and American was right on the job. They scheduled a new date and showed up as promised. Their work was complicated by having to lay down the new asphalt within a framework of new paving stones. No problem. They coordinated smoothly with the brick-laying firm (as they'd done many times before), and when on-site worked quickly and efficiently, with surgical precision. Supervisor and crew were polite and accommodating. On the office side, Frank and Naomi were always available to answer questions and to cover the details. The finished work is flawless, and we are extremely pleased. Amazingly, the cost was less than we thought. American Asphalt is first-rate, and we recommend them without reservation.

They did an excellent job. The driveway surface was approximately 20 years old and there were potholes. It's a great improvement. My only delay was in getting the building permit, which the contract required me to do. The staff was professional and courteous from Naomi on the phone to the workmen doing the job. They graded and sloped it perfectly in a difficult situation with a narrow drive between two houses where there could be a drainage issue. We have had major storms since they finished and the water drains off with no problems for me or my neighbor.

They did a great job. I had received 2 other quotes before deciding to have them do the job. I also checked with our local village and was informed of their fine reputation. The owner came out and described what was to be performed. I have a half circle driveway with a problem on the elevation. Rob, the owner, assured me that the job could be done and it would be done in one day. He showed up with a full crew on the day scheduled and completed the job in 3 hours. He supervised everything. They also cleaned up any residue that was left with a job like this. This was the most professional crew I ever saw. My driveway looks better than any other driveways that were done in my neighborhood. They deserve honors for their work.

Rob Morin of American Asphalt responded within 24 hours to view the driveway and left his bid. The other two bidders were higher and took much longer to respond. Work was scheduled and completed promptly by courteous, uniformed employees. They left a booklet with clear printed instructions on caring for the new driveway. We were very pleased with American Asphalt and highly recommend them.

American Asphalt provided the lowest estimate and excellent service. They arrived early and were done before 3pm that afternoon. The edges are done cleanly, the leveling along the garage apron is right on. It rained a few days after the work and the grading was such that there was almost no puddling. Very pleased.

They were unable to start on the scheduled day due to being back logged from the rain the previous day. They came the next day and actually started earlier in the morning than I was told they would be able to. Communication throughout the whole delay and reschedule was very good.

This business has been around for over 40 years and I know why.....they are professional, timely and competitively priced. We have a very difficult driveway, it slopes down into our garage. It was critical that the driveway has the correct slope to keep water from flooding our garage.....and they did it perfectly.

They just show up and you don't even have to be here. It's great. My dealings with them on the phone were pleasant.

Phone calls were returned promptly; all my questions were answered. When we accepted the proposal, they started work in a few days, arriving at 7:30 am with all necessary equipment, and a crew of 8 men were done by early afternoon. One of the owners supervised and worked along with the crew to be sure everything was done right, especially the grading. After all the rain we've had recently, I can vouch for the good job they did. This is a family owned business with 40 years' experience. Highly recommend this company.

The experience was delightful from estimate through completion. The estimate was the most thorough obtained, and was actually the only one that complied with the Village of Buffalo Grove specifications. They would not even schedule the work until the proper village permit was in place. The crew was punctual and professional. They actually thanked my wife for ordering the work even while the economy is so difficult. The driveway looks terrific, and there is not a hint of a mess anywhere. I really can't think of a negative to the experience other than spending the money!

The crew arrived prompted at 8:00 AM. By 8:20 AM they had already used a Bobcat to completely remove my existing asphalt driveway. They had truck lined up: one for waste disposal, a second for hot asphalt. They leveled, tamped and rolled the aggregate stone based to 5000 psf. They did a perfect job laying the new asphalt and finishing the edges. Absolutely superb service! Frank Dault was the salesman.

THEY TORE UP AND REPLACED THE DRIVE WAY IN A FEW HOURS. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, VERY NEAT, AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB.

COMPANY NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS. ONE OF THEIR TRUCKS DID PARK AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY LAST WEEK. DRIVER DID NOT GET OUT OF TRUCK. OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DOING ANY WORK FOR ME. GOT ANOTHER NON-ANGIE'S LIST CONTRACTOR FOR THE JOB.
