Superb job!

My unattached two car garage has a large second floor attic. The garage ceiling/attic floor was sagging and a previous fix came apart from the roof ridge. Garage For You responded to my on-line request form the next day and we scheduled an estimate my next day off from work. The quote was reasonable and they were confident that my garage could be saved. I also asked to have an aluminum pull-down staircase installed to replace a broken wooden one. The work was scheduled to be done the following week and was estimated to take just a few hours. Communication of when and if they were coming could have been better. I understand that other jobs may have been delayed because of the bad storms lately, but just they could have called to let us know instead of spending the whole day waiting around. The job did get done early the next day in four hours because the new staircase was a little bigger. They cleaned up very well afterwards and even adjusted the door opener since the ceiling moved back up.

They seemed to be knowledgeable, and so we chose them. They got backed up on other jobs because of the weather, and so they were slow to start our job. They had a good price - I don?t remember if they were the cheapest but they were reasonable. They weren?t perfect but they were good. They messed up on laying the foundation. It had to be partially redone because they didn?t do it to code, and there was some misunderstanding because of a language problem. Ultimately, the work was fine, and they fixed things. I would recommend them to others and would use them in the future, if necessary.

Garage for you offered a competitive price and a bit more of a personal touch than I found with the other companies I had quote this job for me. Lucy and Ricky were very willing to listen to what I wanted and help suggest and find the finishes I was looking for and offer them for a reasonable price. They built a very nice garage and did it the way that I wanted it rather than just the cookie cutter way that most of the larger companies would offer. Overall the experience was good. They used what appeared to be good sub contractors for the concrete and electrical work. Everyone that came out to the job site was professional, friendly and did good work. The only criticism I have is that I felt like there were some delays (probably due to weather because it was raining a lot over the time the project was happening) but the timing when things were happening and the schedule of the project could have been communicated better. Overall though when I had a question or concern I always had an answer or update within 24 hours. Overall the quality of work and the extra mile they went to find the finishes we wanted far out weighed the small communication gap. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for a new garage. Short update. After the garage was around 8 months old the entry door from the yard started to stick and would not latch properly. Normal for a new structure that may settle a little bit after construction. I sent an email on a Sunday to ask them to come out and see if they could have somebody come out and look at it. To my surprise I received a call early Monday morning and they said they had someone who could come right out. They literally had someone at my house by 9am on Monday and had the adjustments made to the door in a half hour!!!! Now that is some serious service response!!! Could not have been more satisfied. Thank You!!!

The experience with them was good. They did a good quality work but there was a lack of communication on occasion that was somewhat acceptable due to the time period of my wife, me and the contractor which were incompatible. Nevertheless messages could have been left. The communication could have been a little better anyhow. By and large we are pleased with the end result which is what counts.

We have had trouble in the past with trying to keep in touch with the people working on the house or whatever. We had a great experience with Garage For You. They kept in contact with us through it. When we asked questions, they answered them. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They didn’t finish their work on the day they said would finish. They came back the next day and finished it.

This is the second time I wrote a letter about this company. The first time I wrote it was just the start of my experience with Garage For You on or about 7/11/2009. The old garage had a fire at the end of June 2009. The house was put up for sale in Feb. GREAT! what a mess. It is an estate sale thats very emotional. I needed a fire like I needed another hole in my head. I am the one that had several companies that the insurance company said to call. Go to Angie's list first. Lucy is a wonderful sales person! Not pushy at all. My final price was a little higher that what was stated because I added a few more things. Just a bit under $8,000. On our old cement pad. I will attempt to download some pics. It is a 2 car garage with a storage shed on the side. Did not want frills because it was up for sale. Well built. Looks good. Great service. Delivered what they promised. Had all permits. Cleaned up the area. Did not even leave so much as a nail.Supplied me with a lien release after payment. Did not ask for all the money up front, so I did not have to worry about them skipping out of town with my hard earned cash. Min.down payment. I can't say enough about this company. Give them a call. Well worth the money. They used REAL plywood not that other cheap junk.The same day they were putting up the garage I had someone look at the house I am HAPPY to say the house is under contract and we should be closing in August. He was really excited about the garage too.

I think this is a good company. They are responsible and very professional. I received the quote and call back within a reasonable time. At this time, I am not pursuing the garage, due to economical reasons, but probably in the fall, I will give them a call. Thanks! Highly Recommend.

FABULOUS. I can't begin to tell you what a great experience this was, from the initial meeting (with Jim, one of the carpenters), to the scheduling and office admin (with Lucy), to the crew who came out and nearly completed the job in 1 day, to the electrician. My husband and I can't get over what a high-quality garage we have, at such a reasonable price, and for such a pleasant, professional, courteous, honest process.

Was able to come a little earlier than the scheduled appointment and had an OK session. I asked him to tell me how he was different than other garage companies rather than just sell me what's on the website or the standard building practices, most of which are regulated by village code. He had hard time with this simple task. He asked to see another quote from a garage builder which I faxed him the next day. He called me back trying to tell me what it didn't include (which were clearly marked on the contract as included) rather than focusing on his estimate (which he hasn't sent me - it's been two weeks) . Calling to get an update was ridiculous. I would call during the day and wouldn't hear back until the evening or next day. I still haven't been able to talk to him personally - just an office assistant.

They were phenomenal. Their price was the best of the quotes we received, and after we set straight some initial communication trouble in which their workers came without announcing themselves, they did a great job and did absolutely beautiful work. They were swift and clean and nice, and if I ever needed another garage, I would certainly use them.

We had damage done to the corner of our garage from a car driving into it. The company came out right away and gave us a very reasonable estimate. They were extremely professional and did the work right away. Very happy with the work and we would definitely use them again.

This company was quick to come out and provide an estimate. The salesman was friendly and knowledgeable. He provided a detailed estimate and answered all my questions. As soon as all the permits were obtained they started work promptly with demolition of the garage. There was a delay between the demolition and the start of the cement work and when I called the company they were surprised that the cement subcontractor had not come out yet. However, they rectified the issue immediately and the cement work was started the next day. The rest of the project went well overall and any small issues that came up the company was quick to respond to. The garage looks great and I am happy with the work performed.

Garage For You does great work--when they show up. Good quality work, poor front office management. It took a couple of tries to get anyone to return my call. Since Garage For You was rated highly on Angie's List, I was persistent. Ricky (the owner) came out and did the original estimate, which was very reasonable. Then Lucy set up the appointment for the repair day. The day came and went--no one ever showed, and no one ever called us. Lucy called that evening to tell us a job was not finished the day prior, so they couldn't make it. She had to know that the day prior--they should have called the night before. Set up another appointment for 2 weeks later. Called the night before to confirm, and twice more in the morning (before 9 a.m., the scheduled arrival time). No one returned my call. At 9 a.m. Lucy called back--bad news, she said. A job was not finished downstate the prior day. No one would be coming (again). I told her they were unreliable, and that I would not reschedule another time. Ricky called 5 minutes later to offer to come out the next day and do the job himself at a significant discount. He arrived more or less on time and completed the job. We were impressed by the work he did to identify any potential larger leaks--there were none. I would rate them high on workmanship and price, low on responsiveness and punctuality.

Our project went very well and each of the crews for construction, siding and trim did an excellent job. The subcontractors which were used for demo and concrete work, Donco Hauling and GCW Concrete, were also very good and I have submitted separate reports on them. Garage for You owner, Ricky Czapla, was very accommodating to any requests. For example, I wanted the service door to match the siding so it was painted on site but the paint job dried unevenly and Ricky made sure it was redone to our satisfaction. On the day of construction, our crew chief had me check the roof shingles and vinyl siding to make sure they were the color I had wanted. The roof shingles turned out to be lighter than I wanted so Ricky arranged for new shingles to be delivered to the site within a few hours. When the aluminum trim I picked out was not available from the supplier, Ricky made a trip out to our house with the sample deck over the weekend so I could choose another color. He also helped us with the decision of what kind of window would look good with our gable roof. We were assisted very ably throughout the process by our sales representative, Lucy, who arranged for each of the crews and promptly responded to every call or email. She impressed me with her knowledge of city requirements, garage styles, construction, etc. We had estimates from 3 other companies but Garage for You was the most reasonable, besides being one of the few garage companies with a good rating on Angie's List.

They were fabulous! They came exactly on time and finished the entire job in less than two days. This is what they specialize in and they are extremely efficient in doing the work. I had another quote from a general contractor and these guys beat it by a mile. I was quite impressed with the quality, also. They didn't cut corners, and actually went out of their way to shore up some weaknesses in the structure that they hadn't detected when bidding the job. They didn't charge any extra for that work either.

The project went well with some snags that were resolved. Squeezed the project in before winter in November. There was some miscommunication between the company and the concrete subcontractor, and the vinyl siding we ordered was on backorder, but all issues were resolved. Overall communication was good, calls returned promptly, all appointments were kept, and crews showed up as planned. The overall construction on the garage is solid, quality work performed. The construction design/quality used by Garage for You was as good as any other company that I received bids from (4 total), and their price was the best.

Overall, they were great and one of the best vendors we worked with in the construction of a new home and garage - so, say 30 different vendors. They worked with me to design the exact garage I wanted, which was quite different that the "standard" garage and the finished product is really, really nice. Many people have complimented me on it.

They promptly responded to an email we sent them and then came out to take a look at the job within the week. They worked around our schedule and were responsive to all our questions and needs. Everything was done on time, within budget, and exactly as we had discussed. I wish all my contractors were like this.

We contacted and visited with Ricky Czapla and Lucy on our property. They showed us pictures of garages they had built. They asked questions, took measurements, wrote down what we wanted in an estimate, and asked for our fax number to send the estimate very quickly. They said that we would have the estimate in five days. When we did not have it in a week, we called and spoke with Lucy. She said that Ricky was right there working on the estimate, and we should have it the next morning. Well, we never received anything from them, not a call or fax. It is now two weeks later. If they did not want to bid on the job, they should have told us at that time. We could have then contacted another company for the much needed estimate. This lack of integrity from a company rated highly on the list has been very disappointing and has delayed building my new garage unnecessarily.

Overall, the construction, cement, and electric work were very professionally done and the quality of the work and materials were excellent. Of all the estimates I received from other companies, (seven); Garage For You was the only company that the actual general contractor Ricky came out to the site to give professional input and to answer questions. I was impressed with the cement company used. The cement contractor added extra support to cement because of the size of the garage. The garage was built in the time frame promised. The demolition company contracted could have been better, but Ricky resolved our issues promptly. Overall, I would recommend Garage for You to family and friends without any reservations.

It took a few days for them to respond. I asked for an estimate for a new garage and a repair of my existing garage. Two people came out. The new garage estimate was given on the spot. The estimate for the repair of the garage has never come (they were here on March 25 and it is now April 18). I contacted them again, but still have not received the estimate. If this is the way I'm treated before I engage them, I don't have much faith they will perform well.

They did a wonderful job. I was very pleased when they came out to give me an estimate. They showed me all the materials they where going to be using; they answered all my questions. I was still getting more estimates that where out this world prices because I had choosen red siding for my garage they where very reasonable the village took long to approve permit but that is the way they work in the village; as soon as they had the go ahead they where out here digging one, two, three, they're done. I was very lucky to have good weather threw the whole project!

We are absolutely 100 % satisfied with the job that was performed, and would recommend this company without hesitation. Every part of the project was handled in a professional manner, and the crew size was always sufficient to perform their task within a day or two. The workmanship was well above average, and when the job was completed, the Village inspector commented that he thought the quality of work was very high. The Village of Winnetka is notoriously picky about companies that do work in town, and the projects they approve get rigorous scrutiny. This company easily met the high standards required.
