Last year we replaced our hundred year old garage. We live in an historical district. So there were a number of requirements beyond normal. Garage For You told us when each phase of the process would be done and they stuck to the schedule. There were a few unique features that they were able to accommodate. I had saved and refurbished five original windows from the old garage. And I also duplicated the original trim. They incorporated both of these items into the design for the new garage and installed them. We had another company apply a stucco finish to the garage. Garage For You workers prepared the walls as the stucco company requested. The stucco company said that the preparation was excellent. The electrical and final inspections were flawless. We are very pleased with the quality of the work, the flexibility of the design process and the overall responsiveness and availability of the workers and office staff. Everything went flawlessly, from planning, concrete, construction

We had Garage For You build us a detached garage. It turned out great. Ivona handled the permitting process and got the necessary surveys done quickly. The concrete was done quickly and they were clean. The carpenters were fussy about materials used and paid attention to the little things that made it a great job. I would highly recommend Garage For You for your garage needs.

From initial estimate to final city inspection, the job went smoothly as they transformed our beat-up, old garage so that it looks brand new. They were professional in every way: they followed through on everything promised and finished the job in a timely manner.

Garage For you deserves far higher than a 5 rating. The workmen are very professional, polite and skilled. They arrived exactly when they said they would be here and took care of everything. The cement poured and the garage built look great. All the debris from the demolition and the building of the garage was immediately cleared from our property. The garage looks great and we are so happy that we hired Garage for You, Inc. We repeatedly called the office to tell them how pleased we were with the work being done. We have recommended the company to our neighbors.

Excellent work. They built my shed which, although more expensive than Tough Shed, the quality was much much better.

Was the garage built well, overall? Yes. Was everything else a complete mess? Yes. Down payment in April 2021. Project not completed until July of 2022. There were a couple occasions where absolutely nothing was happening for 2 months at a time. Numerous messages unreturned or returned very late, sometime until threats of getting a lawyer. At some point the excuse was covid, an other it was a death in the family, at another their office manager simply told me she "had not been feeling herself lately" and that was the cause of a couple of months delay. Survey took an insane 5 months. Not because surveyors were not available, they were, but they used *their* guy, who was apparently very backlogged. I was charged for the services of 2 people for the survey - It was an old man doing the work, while his wife sat in a lawn chair and read a book all day. I was quoted the garage when wood prices were at their absolute peak, and even though the lumber was ordered a year later they had the audacity to call and ask me for more money - despite them already denying me a discount for the obscene delays. When they initially told me they submitted plans to the village (after my numerous requests for status updates) I called the village and they had not submitted anything. First plans actually submitted to the village had multiple errors and I had to catch it to have them correct it. When the plans were finally accurately submitted and G4U were not responding to my requests for updates I called the village who said the plans were approved a while ago and G4U had not yet paid the permit or right of way. Go figure. By the time the permits finally came through it was now November with freezing temps, so the project now had to be pushed until early spring of next year. The demolition guy they sent, which is used by at least a couple of companies (saw him at a Blue Sky job last week) knocked over a wall of the old garage on my neighbor's fence, 5 minutes after I told him to please be careful to not do so, since it was clear that was going to happen. He also knocked over a wall of the old garage on my garden, wrecking my wire fencing and he couldn't care less about it. The cement sub-contract they used poured a terrible mix of concrete for the apron with awful seams and crumbling edges. I had to call them out on it and they came back to tear it out and repour it. The concrete work is not particularly great, with rough spots and out of plumb areas along the perimeter. I've also got a surface crack forming already, less 3 months after the pour. The concrete guys also splattered wet concrete on the siding of my house, which was an absolute pain to try and scrub off after hardened. Furthermore, the concrete guys had fried fish for lunch and they threw the bones in my bushes, which my dogs found and nearly choked on. The guys who did the framing worked quickly and professionally. However when the lumber was delivered they damaged my chain link fence and chain link gate. They later repaired the gate, but only after I discovered the damage a couple weeks later and called them out on it and noted it was on camera. Which by the way, from the security footage they clearly saw the damage when it happened and decided not to tell me about it. [This should be enough for you not to use them.] I told them specifically the brand/color of siding I wanted to use, which had 2 month lead time. They waited to order the siding until the day they started the framing, which led to another delay in finishing the project. The aluminum guy they used for the soffits, gutters, door frames was very good. I would hire him in a heartbeat. The electricians were good, however, not the installer's fault, I told the salesman Bob that I wanted to put a 100amp sub panel in the garage later for some EV chargers, so he up charged me to put a 3/4" line to the garage from the house - only to find out now that per code you can only run 60amps with a 3/4" conduit, so I'm stuck with that. Dozens of cigarette butts scattered through my yard during the project. Additionally... About the same time I made my down payment I recommended Garage For You to my neighbor because of the initial experience with the salesman. His project was also mired with delays and poor communication, to the point where I was embarrassed I had recommended them. At least his garage ended up getting finished in 2021.

It was a difficult project. It’s one of those small houses in Nortbrook where they are predominantly have car ports instead of a garage or a garage that was converted to an extra room. It was a project with many challenges structurally as well as meeting the strict NB codes. It was more than we thought price wise but again things came up unexpectedly. Ricky is a very clever and experienced guy, fantastic. Throughout the short journey was Ivona. Ivona is very responsive and gets back to you immediately. They are so lucky to have her. Thank you again Ivona, Ricky and the guys. I am so glad I went with this company. I love my garage.

After conducting extensive research, we selected Garage For You to build our garage and car port. Bob from Garage For You went into great detail discussing their work and my options. Communication was easy and direct. They worked within our budget. The craftsmanship and quality of the garage exceeded my high expectations. You can tell they take pride in their work, hence their great warranty. We'd highly recommend them!

it went well, the job itself is very good

Bob was super responsive in meeting with us and helping design the garage. They will make custom garages. We wanted a room built into our garage to shelter some feral cats we take care of, and they were willing to do that. They also installed a cat door that we purchased. They build good garages. Our old garage was falling apart, as are many others in the neighborhood. We wanted a garage that would last. All of the crew were highly-skilled and tremendously courteous. The quality of work at every stage was excellent: preparation of site, concrete pour, framing, roof, finishing/gutters. They took extra care to do things right. The job did take longer than expected. Part of that was due to issues with the site (excessive mud under the old garage that had to dry out and additional site preparation) but it seems the COVID pandemic generated a lot of home projects - we were in a work queue. Demolition started mid-September and garage was completed early January. (Our furnace guy had a similar situation with a different garage builder, so it wasn't just this company. We learned to be Zen about the timeline - it was less stressful that way.) In the end, we have a beautiful garage that should last for years. Very pleased.

We got four proposals. Bob, the Garage for You representative, was highly knowledgeable, answering all our questions and explaining available options. The demolition and concrete work were done by a sub-contractor who left us with a smooth, well-finished foundation. Three in-house carpenters did the framing and roofing, and sub-contractors did the aluminum trim and the electrical work. Two things impressed us most: (1) the skill of the craftsmen who worked on the project and (2) the quality of materials used (premier brands for the siding, the roofing, the doors, the garage-door opening, etc.). The owners of the company were also flexible, letting us make some changes along the way, and Ivona, the person we communicated with at Garage for You, was always helpful. Overall, the garage exceeds our expectations in terms of construction and and looks. We highly recommend Garage for You.

The work was very good. The tear down was quick and everything was cleaned up thoroughly. Delays were due to weather, but the office staff kept me up to date via text (which was a great way to communicate). The construction was excellent, I am very happy with my garage, and I feel I had a fair price.

Very impressed with this company - the quality of workers and materials are exactly what you'd hope for. Other contractors at my home have commented - "that's a nice garage, who built it". Communication with the office was seamless, I was informed every step of the way. I'm so happy I chose this bid.

Bob came out and looked at the garage. He suggested that we first have a foundation company come by and look at the problems. He spent 15 minutes on the phone estimating costs for different kinds of work that might be done, and gave me some good ideas. And all for free. Very helpful.

Garage For You built us a beautiful custom garage. The process was smooth and communication was good. This was our first large construction project, so we had lots of questions and needed to go over everything a few times to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Ricky and Ivona were very helpful and the construction staff worked very hard. We have received many compliments on our garage and it's the nicest in the neighborhood for sure.

The guys were top both and professional. Ivana was very kind 90% of the time. She was very deligent but did ignore my call for two weeks straight. Other than that I wouldn't think twice about hiring them again.

I hired this company to build me a new garage. They were able to come and give me an estimate right away. This was not the case after signing a contract and giving them a deposit. It took them a month to knock down my old garage. Then to start was another month. They kept giving me the run around for the concrete company to come and start. After the concrete was finished, I had to wait another month to build my garage which took 2 days to build but I had to wait again for the soffit and aluminum work to completed. At the end, it seemed worth the hassle with this company. I WAS WRONG!!! When the snow started melting on those nice February days, I noticed my garage has a leak because my wall and floor has lots of water coming through. I spoke with IVONA and told me that they stand by their work and that Ricky would show up the following day. I waited for Ricky and no show. I see that this company doesn't stand by their work. I had to miss a day a work expecting Ricky to show up and no one had the common courtesy to contact me to give me an update. THIS COMPANY DOESN'T STAND BY THEIR WORK AFTER YOU PAY THEM OR WARRANTY!!! I will be reporting them to the BBB. I DO NOT recommend for anyone to waste your hard earn money with a dishonest company.

The work was excellent and the only way you would know it was an addition is if you watched the work. All the material was exactly as specified and there were NO surprises in the price. I would recommend Ricky without reservation.

The project went very well. Except for delays on the Village of Barrington's part, GFY was efficient, professional and prompt. Ivona, the project manager was very responsive to my questions and needs.

Overall, one of the best small contractor experiences my wife and I have had on our house so far.

The price we paid was very fair, and the smooth process and confidence in our outcome made it a pleasure. Ricky came on site often to clarify and expedite our project. He coordinated with his concrete subcontractor to improve the lay of the drive. He made sure everything was happening to our satisfaction. The garage structure went up in a matter of days. You get efficiency as well as quality with Ricky. Flexibility is another wonderful asset which guaranteed our project's success. For us, drainage was a tandem project, and Garage for You coordinated around that work, no problem. We also decided at the last minute to use vinyl shakes on the top portion of the garage front. No problem. We had several special requests, all met with gracious ease and excellence. All the subcontractors were considerate and very polite. The materials used are top-notch and the workmanship is outstanding. You can see for yourself in these photos. We are extremely happy with our garage. Everyone admires it, and I humbly say we have the best one in town!
