Description of Work: They remodeled the bathroom,there were a few minor problems that were corrected after I contacted them. I had extra tile work done,the cost of it was not disclosed until after the job was completed. Also the amount allotted for fixtures is not enough, you will need to spend more. They did good work and cleaned up after they were completed.

Description of Work: We eventually were able to schedule them to come by and power wash the driveway, garage, and front steps. I wish they were able to get everything out of the front steps but it's harder than it seems. They were on time and cleaned up after themselves

Description of Work: I bought the Big deal from Angie's List for deck restraining and repair. It took them 3 weeks to get to my deck. Which was fine since it was the busy season and figured lots of people bought this deal. They came to power wash the deck on a Thursday and did the staining on the following Wednesday. The deck came out OK, but the workmanship was very sloppy. There was deck stain on my siding in many places. Things like splatter and smears. None of the popped nails and other minor fixes that were supposedly part of the deal were not performed. I emailed the owner to complain about the sloppy work. He apologized and it was taken care of the next business day.

Description of Work: They repaired a fence. They originally came out and repaired 6 broken pickets, however, they used pickets that were 2 inches wider than they should have been. It was done poorly. They were very responsive and apologetic when I called to tell them about the problem and did come out to redo the job. But, for $289.00, it just wasn't worth it.

Description of Work: I hired Gordon's crew to finish a room in my basement (200 square foot office). The guys were always on time and professional. They did a bit of extra work for us over and beyond the terms of the big deal, and it was very reasonable. Overall, I was very pleased with the outcome of their work, and will totally use them when I finish the remaining area in my basement next spring. | |The only thing I would recommend is keeping on top of them with your local zoning requirements, especially if you aren't native to McHenry County, where they are located. We had to have some extra work done because, even though the city planning office told everyone that the fire alarm needed to be installed in the room they were building, and I reminded them of this, they installed it outside of the room. In McHenry County, that's okay for a space defined as an office, but in Lake county (where I live) it isn't. It was easy enough to fix, but just be on top of it if you are outside of the McHenry county area. | |However, even with this, I'm still planning on giving them a call for my spring project. The work they did was that great, and the price was that reasonable.

Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for deck restoration from GR General Contracting. I paid $699 up front and called the GR at the last week in May. No response. After waiting one week and still not hearing from GR, I contacted Angie's list, and they emailed GR on my behalf. Still, no response from GR. I would be very uncomfortable hiring someone to work on my home based on this experience. This is lack of response is not indicative of someone who is trustworthy or reliable.

Description of Work: Mr. Rudd was very nice; he called and apologized, saying I lived too far from him for his company to restore my deck. He suggested I call Angie's directly for the reund.

Description of Work: Excellent experience with Gordon from GR. We had a challenging experience with permits and the township and Gordon took it all in stride and kept us informed the whole time. The project ran a bit over expected time mainly do to the city and Gordon did all he could to bring the project timeline in as early as possible. Would recommend and use again..

Description of Work: Started on Angie's List to find a reputable company to refinish our deck and re-secure some boards. The owner, Gordon Ruud was immediately responsive and came out the following day after we contacted him to assess our deck. He honored his advertised special on Angie's List. He was quick to answer any questions we had. He showed up every time he said he was going to. He and his crew were prompt, courteous and professional We were and are very pleased with the work that was done. We had a problem with one of our windows and asked him to take a look at it. He became involved in helping us with that issue as well and we feel that in doing so he went out of his way. We would definitely recommend GR General Contracting and will use their services again should the need arise.
