This company came out and gave me an estimate for over $10,000, but said they couldn't perform the work for about a week. I needed to get this job done more quickly, so I kept looking for someone who could.

B Haney did an excellent job. They clean up the whole yard after they completed the work.

THE ARBORIST WAS PROMPT IN SCHEDULING A TIME TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE. HOWEVER, I HAD TO CALL TWICE TO GET THE WORK ACTUALLY SCHEDULED, AND IT TOOK OVER SEVEN WEEKS. THE JOB IT SELF WAS PROFESSIONALLY DONE. THE WORK-MAN IN THE TREE REALLY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. CLEAN UP WAS THOROUGH. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN, BUT WILL BE MORE PROACTIVE AROUND SCHEDULING ANY WORK.

They were out to give an estimate the day after I called, but their price was a full 1/3 higher than the next highest estimate.

I called B Haney on a Thursday explaining I needed an estimate for the removal of a large, partially fallen willow tree. The female receptionist said I would be put on the list for an estimate the next day, Friday. Friday came and went--no B Haney. A week came and went-- no B Haney. Now two weeks later I have not heard a word from B Haney. Does this company want to do business??? It doesn't appear so. Plus, of course, it is unfair to potential customers who are waiting for service--and get nothing. Not a word.

Good service and professionalism. Very prompt and informative. I did not go with them due to price.

They did a nice job, causing minimal disturbance to me or the surrounding landscaping.

These guys charge $65 for an inspection visit. It is deducted from the work done, IF you give them the job. Nowhere in the description does it say anything about a charge to come out. No other bidder that I called has the same policy. I would not have minded, but the layout is extremely difficult to remove the trees and a visit is needed to properly bid the job. They should mention the cost to visit in the description of services to be provided.

Took several phone calls, some of which were not returned, to finally set up the day to do the work. Was going to have some bushes trimmed too but birds were nesting in them by the time a date was set so I decided to wait till fall. Seemed to do a good job on the tree though and they cleaned everything up nicely.

The Care of Trees first came out with ladders, but realized they would not get the job done right. They came the next week with a bucket truck and properly trimmed the trees. Edwin's crew was very professional and courteous. They made sure I was happy before leaving.

We have receieved several estimates from other Angies List tree service companies. The Care of Trees is the only company that wanted to charge me for an estimate. We opted not to even get the quote because we didn't want to be out $65 (the price they charge for an estimate) if we didn't choose them.

Did not come out to do estimate when expected, called Friday evening, and said would come out on Saturday to do the estimate - did not. I called on Monday, he called back and said he would come on Wednesday, and, if we liked the price, they could come out, they do the job on Thursday as they were already out in area. Did not come on Wednesday, did not return call placed on Wednesday. I found him in yard on Thursday, estimate was 4 times what lowest estimate had been ($1980 to cut down the tree and $580 to remove stump), and more than double closest estimate. And, obviously, there was not a chance of actually having it done on Thursday as had been discussed. He said that location of Evanston was so far from their home base (Lombard), that often this made them more expensive. I find it hard to believe that travel costs $1800. I wish he had just told me that they did not work in area like others on Angie's List did.

We called on Monday & had an estimate in the mail by Thursday. We went with another company because they also gave us suggestions for pruning other trees, but were pleased with the response from this company as well.

The overall experience with B. Haney & Sons was very positive. Someone came out promptly to inspect the trees and submitted a proposal in a short period of time. There was some confusion about the returned signed proposal, and we had to fax a copy of it to them. We also mentioned from the first phone call to them, we were members of Angie's List because the company offered a 10% discount for Angie List members. The discount was not reflected on the proposal, and we called to remind them about it. The person taking the call said discount would be noted on the invoice. When we received the invoice it was for the same amount as the original proposal. We called about the missing Angie's List 10% discount, and we were told it was already included in the original proposal. If it was included in the proposal price the discount was not acknowledged in writing. We were disappointed about the handling of the discount, but overall, we are very happy with the service provided.

D. Haney came out to give an estimate within a few days of being contacted. Removal done 2 weeks later. Very pleased with all work done.

The tree was located in an awkward spot between my garage, short driveway, alley, and public sidewalk along a main street. Also, a neighboring house was situated immediately on the alley across from the tree. The crew was very careful of the car traffic, pedestrians, neighbor's house and my garage as they removed the branches and ran them into the chipper. Due to the location of the tree, they were unable to grind out the stump - so I requested about 3 feet be left, which I will use as a flower planting bed. Before beginning work, one of the crew members confirmed that I would not need to exit the garage shortly after the job - the larger trunk sections had to be left for another truck. These trunks were picked up within 1 1/2 hours after the main removal. The total process took little more than one hour from the time the two trucks arrived. When done, they cleaned up the public sidewalk, garage roof and inside my yard - leaving the area cleaner than when they started.

They scheduled the work in advance, they were on time, they were very polite and professional and completed the work as quoted. They were friendly with my dog.

i called to have them look at a couple of trees. Matt made an apptointment with me w/in 2 days. He was prompt to the minute. Looked at my trees and said they were normal. Did not charge me a penny. 2 other tree companies wanted from 80-125 dollars just to pull up on my driveway. If I ever actually have a problem, I would definitely hire them.

They were very prompt getting back to me with a quote. The price was good, but I decided to go with a company who could give me the date the work would be done and charged the same amount as this company.

The large maple in the front of my house had several large dead branches that needed to be removed. I also have a weeping cherry that needed dead branch removal. The company came out and gave me a quote for the those two trees and a third that was on the property line that had branches touching the roof. Since the mulberry was on the property line, I needed the approval of the owner on the other side for the tree to be trimmed. The owner does not live on-site and I was not able to get an approval. B Haney adjusted the quote to cover the two trees. They called to setup an appointment for trimming once they received the signed quote, and cleaned up afterwards. The trees are in bud and so far do not appear to be in any distress.

EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, PUNCTUAL, POLITE, EXCELLENT CLEANUP AFTER THE JOB.

MOST WORK WAS DONE AS DESCRIBED. REMOVAL OF ONE OF THE TREE'S BRANCHES WAS NOT DONE. I CALLED TO BRING THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION AND THEY CAME BACK OUT WITHIN A WEEK TO FINISH THE WORK. REMOVAL OF THE SPRUCE LEFT VERY SMALL PILE OF CHIPS. WORK STAFF IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

CHOSE THE DIY ROUTE RENTING A CHAINSAW WHICH DOESN'T LOOK AS GOOD, BUT AT LEAST NEITHER MY NEIGHBOR NOR I AM WORRIED ABOUT OUR ROOFS. ARBORIST BILL WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE; MAY HIRE HIM WHEN I WANT THE STUMPS REMOVED, OR OTHER WORK AT A HIGHER AESTHETIC STANDARD.

ALTHOUGH HE DETERMINED THAT OUR TREE COULD NOT BE SAVED, HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE IN MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS. VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE AND HAVE HAD THE CARE OF TREES PERFORM A FEW JOBS FOR ME IN ORDER TO HELP GET THE PROPERTY INTO SHAPE. THEY DO A VERY THOROUGH JOB, AND I'M ALWAYS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH BETTER THINGS LOOK AFTER THEY ARE DONE. IN ADDITION, DESPITE THE AMOUNT OF BRANCHES AND BRUSH THAT IS INVOLVED THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESS. BECAUSE THE ARBORIST IN CHARGE OF THE PROJECT, THE CREW WHO ACTUALLY DOES THE WORK, AND THE PERSON WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE ARE ALL DIFFERENT PEOPLE, IT CAN SOMETIMES BE HARD TO COMMUNICATE EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT DONE, ESPECIALLY IF SOMETHING CHANGES, BUT ULTIMATELY THINGS HAVE ALWAYS WORKED OUT FOR ME AND THEY ARE GOOD ABOUT RETURNING PHONE CALLS.
