DO NOT USE DAVEY TREE SERVICE - After working with Davey for several years, they have done a great disservice to me and my trees. It appears to me that Davey is more concerned with habitual service of trees than significant guidance. Two years ago they trimmed two of my trees at significant expense. Both trees were dead the next summer and had to be removed. Last year they deep root fed one tree, it was dead this spring. It was OBVIOUSLY dying last year but they went ahead with the deep feed anyway. It seems like a money grab. When I requested an arborist visit, he got defensive, put the entire blame on my for agreeing to it (despite expecting their guidance). When I told him he should leave, he called me a "f---ing a--hole." Not really what I expect from customer service. I would recommend ANYONE but Davey whose name should really be "Care of Money" not their old pseudonym "Care of Trees".

Originally I asked for estimates for cutting down and removing two trees on my property, and in addition to providing an estimate for that work, the Arborist recommended that two spruce trees on my property receive regular treatments to prevent a fungus from killing them. So I am now on a recurring program to have those two trees treated on an ongoing basis. I did not elect to have Care of Trees remove the other two trees as their price was high for that work.

The service providers from The Care of Trees, a Davey Company, in Glen Ellyn did a fabulous job! They saved a very old maple that had been damaged in a storm and made it look gorgeous again! They also did the work of an artist on a large Sunburst Honey Locust in my front yard. It now looks stunning! Their prices were very competitive for the extensive work that had to be done to these trees. It was a pleasure doing business with the management team. I had very high expectations set by a friend who has used them for many years. They went above and beyond!

3 different jobs from huge to small and I can't say enough about what a great job they did. They are not usually the cheapest price, but I believe they are the best quality and the safest. I've used several other tree services, but now I don't even call anyone else. I'm only giving the price on the small job they just did as I don't remember the prices for the other projects. Yesterday's job was well executed. The barberries were difficult because they are covered with big thorns and it was difficult to get into. They even took the time to cut up some branches from the apricot for firewood. They had a 3 man team and were friendly, professional, careful not to damage other plants and trees. The cleanup was great. You couldn't even tell they had been there except being able to see my ground again.

The technician was very knowledgeable and gave me advice on how to take care of the tree going forward. It's been almost two years since the treatment was first applied and it looks good.

The crew was professional and courteous. The sales representative however did not respond to any of my phone calls after he received the contract. He only communicated via email and did not address one of my concerns or come to the house the day of work as promised. Nor did he follow up with a phone call.

On 10,28,15 I requested an estimate, I provided a phone number but no location. Instead of calling me they send me an e-mail requesting location, I provided location. I received an e-mail saying someone would contact me. The following day I received a call saying someone would call me. No one ever called.

Got one email responding to my Angie's List inquiry saying I'd be hearing from someone. Never did.

After the initial consultation, I received a thorough write up from the arborist; which was really great. However, the prices were ridiculous. The total estimate to do all the work was just under $11,000. The majority of the monies was for removal of 6 trees and "general trim" of 12 other trees. I thanked them for their consultation, paid the $255 for his 3 hours and told them no way would I be paying that much more.

I am extremely pleased with my service today. Matt H. did a wonderful job of trimming our 300 year old cottonwood, one of the oldest in our town. This tree had a fair amount of random deadwood which was virtually all removed, even at 50+ foot height. He took his time to move around in the cherry picker truck to inspect before trimming, as pruning is an art form. Matt C. and Jake J. pruned our 100 year old locust tree very nicely via climbing and carefully hand sawing. I had to leave for several hours in the afternoon, returned toward end of their work and asked for 2 smaller branches to be removed as I am particular. They were clearly tired, but extremely professional and accommodated my requests. Excellent clean-up. All were gentlemen and easy to communicate with. Price is A-/B+, but I graded it as an A because there was a lot of quality and commitment to their work today.

Very professional were able to cut trees and leave the wood with us in logs. good job cleaning up after themselves. I would recommend them again.

I am very happy with them. I have them come out to do some preventive type of work for me so I have been having them around since. The last service was in April this year, it cost about $130. I have been using them for ten years. I like that they are abreast and responsible. They are responsive and helpful to me. They always come out when they say and do the work even if you're not home. They are probably pricey. I would use them again.

I contacted The Care of Trees get an estate for winter pruning on several large trees and also to have several smaller trees removed. The appointment was easy to set up and prompt, but I never received an estimate.

They are an affiliate of Davey Tree Service. It went well. We had them come back and do a little more trimming on one of the trees. We were happy with the service. We would probably use them again.

The injection went fine, and i was told that I would be contacted in two years when it was time to inject again. I realized recently that we had not been contacted last year or this year. All of our neighbors ash trees are dead, but ours still looked okay. I called to see why we hadn't been contacted. I was told that it had actually been three years. The person answering the phone told me she didn't know how that happened but that she would send an arborist out. I waited a week, but heard nothing. I called back and got a "broken record" response", "You only signed for a one time application". I knew that already, because I wanted to wait and see if the injections actually worked, but I was told I would be called. "I've got your contract right in front of me, you only signed for a one time application." I lost it. They took no responsibility for the screw up. Their arborist never showed. I called another arborist, and yes, the tree is infected, so I emailed them saying the least they could do is come back and take the tree down at no cost to us. I have gotten no response.

Care of Trees gave an estimate for trimming my oak tree. They recommended that the trimming be done in the fall for the health of the tree. They trimmed the tree and took away the branches. They also recommended that the tree be fertilized yearly, which they now do for me.

Pruned carefully to maintain shape of the tree. Injected treatment to prevent emerald ash borer infestation. Not currently affected by EAB.

The tree removal had to be rescheduled multiple times, since their equipment broke down. It ended up being removed 3 weeks after I brought our newborn home from the hospital, when I clearly stated that I wanted it done before the baby was born. Turned out that the tree was also not diseased like they thought it was. The tree was very close to our house, so I am glad we removed it anyway. No damage to our house, which was great, given it was a large tree only 3 feet way from our house. There was more lawn damage than I had expected from large pieces being set down and digging up the grass.

They did great work, cleaned up after and I plan on having them out again.

Responded during a major wind storm with next day service allowing me to get out of my driveway. We have had not hing but terrific service. Professional, safe, great clean-up.

They were great. They did a good job with the work. The thing I was most impressed with was that they did not walk around our yard trying to tell us that every single tree needed something done to it, which is basically what happened with another arborist that we had previously called for an assessment. I got the impression that guy was just throwing everything and the kitchen sink at us, seeing what we'd pay for, where as the Care of Trees people did not try to do that.

We moved into a new house that had significant overgrowth of trees ... they did a great job cleaning it up. They explained exactly what they recommended to do and then followed through. Will use again.

It didn't go. Went with another company.
