On top of the rather high fee ($135) for stepping foot on the property, their policy is to charge $55 for ANY animal trapped, even if it's not related to the problem they were hired for. This seems a bit shady since they'd be coming out anyway and it involves 5 seconds of work to release an animal that doesn't need to be removed from the vicinity. In those cases it would be fair to charge $1 to replace the peanut and sticky goo for their trap. One other gripe: if they place traps on your roof, they will punch holes through your shingles. If you are able to get to the entry points used by the invaders yourself, I'd suggest saving yourself the high fees and trying this method: 1. Cover the hole(s) with wire mesh that prevents entry/exit. 2. The animal will eventually start scratching at the mesh. 3. Remove the mesh and hang out nearby until the animal leaves. 4. Put the mesh back in place. 5. Repeat until all animals are gone and plug the hole permanently.

Lou gave us a detailed explanation of the trapping process and his rates. He placed traps near the site of the nest and came daily to remove trapped squirrels. He was always very friendly, courteous, and prompt!

They were very nice and pointed me in the direction of someone who could help. Charged me half of the regular fee.

So far I am very pleased. After 3 years, I have exhausted my previous company. Lou was able to find areas that could be potential squirrel entry spots and had solutions for closing them. Lou was on time, knowledgeable and articulate.

I was under squirrel attack! The critters had chewed into my eaves and were running around between my roof and ceilings. When I replaced my roof, the varmint really got mad and re-doubled their efforts to get back in. Lou was GREAT! He inspected everywhere (all the way up to the 3rd floor roof) for entry points and placed traps all around. He stated that one or two would be enough, but when I asked for more, he "indulged" me, saying that I might be paying to trap squirrels other than the "offenders". Every morning he showed up like clockwork to inspect traps, re-bait and take away the "captives". Even after he was confident that the "regulars" were gone, I told him to keep at it as I didn't mind paying to "trim the herd". All in all he got rid of 8, and I no longer hear the pitter-patter in my ceilings! Wonderful service!

Critter Detective clearly explained their service, prices, and follow-up. They performed exactly as stated. I would highly recommend them to anyone with an animal problem.

They were able to come out quickly, arrived on time, got to work, removed the birds (which flew away), cleaned out the vent, and put on a vent cover which should keep all other visitors away. We were very satisfied with their work and would highly recommend them to others. The $135 price reflects the Angie's List discount.

Critter Detectives was GREAT. Lou was professional and obviously knew what he was doing. I had a terrible experience with a different company - but this company was excellent - the price of the service was half what the other company charged. He talked to me about the sounds I heard, the time of day or night, then set traps for both squirrels and raccoons to make sure he covered all the bases. Then he came back and checked daily, leaving messages so that I knew what was going on. He checked the house thoroughly and found the trouble spots and recommended the type of work that needed to be done once he removed the animals. He caught a raccoon in the first week but continued to check the traps for a few more weeks to be sure. Once he felt we were clear of animals, I still had 30 days warranty! I was impressed by this type of customer service.

They arrived on time, were courteous, friendly, not condescending, efficient, and we'd trapped 1 squirrel before the end of the day. They continue to come quickly to clean and reset traps. We are very satisfied.

JOB 1: RITTER DETECTIVES SET UP WITHIN 24 HOURS. CAUGHT FOUR SQUIRRELS IN 7 DAYS AND CHECKED TRAPS DAILY. COMMUNICATED DAILY OR EVERY OTHER DAY. NOBODY DOES IT BETTER! JOB 2: THE VERY BEST. I WISH ALL THE SERVICE PROVIDERS WERE AS PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETITIVELY PRICED AS CRITTER DETECTIVES. NOBODY DOES IT BETTER THAN CRITTER DETECTIVES! A+!

LOU WAS PROFESSIONAL, PUNCTUAL, AND EXPLAINED WHAT WOULD BE INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS UP FRONT. I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.

THESE GUYS KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THEY ANSWERED A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND OFFERED HELPFUL HINTS. IT WAS $75 TO SET UP AND $45 PER ANIMAL CAUGHT; THAT BECAME EXPENSIVE WHEN, OVER THE COURSE OF 3 NIGHTS, WE CAUGHT 4 RACCOONS.

THIS COMPANY ALSO DID WORK FOR MY MOTHER A FEW YEARS AGO. THEY REALLY KNOW THEIR STUFF. AFTER LIVING IN HER HOUSE FOR 30+ YEARS, AN ANIMAL BEGAN DIGGING UNDER HER FRONT STAIRS, TOWARDS THE FOUNDATION. THEY SET UP TRAPS, CHECKED THEM DAILY, AND WERE ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WITHIN A FEW WEEKS.
