Critter Detectives

Great thanks to Lou at Critter Detectives. Why? Because something had not worked according to plan from an earlier job they had done at my house, and Critter Detectives came back and fixed it -- no problems, no worries and done properly (within a couple days of my call). Sometimes things don't go the way they are planned and need to be fixed. Critter Detectives did that -- fixing it for me at no additional cost. Originally, the job was to put in a heavy screen barrier between the ground and the bottom of my enclosed porch. It was to be installed all around the front of the house, up to the point where the house foundation starts. The purpose of the metal screen was to stop the ground squirrels from digging in, under my closed in porch where they had set up a huge burrow. I had put in stinky stuff to keep them out and everything else you can think of. Anyway, Critter Detectives sent someone to come do it. Unfortunately, that worker didn't complete the screening installation, stopping a little short of the edge of my foundation. The result that I just noticed a couple days ago? The ground squirrels had found the gap and dug back in, under my porch. It must be quite the underground palace to live in during a cold, Chicago winter. Today, Lou and a different member of his team came and fixed it! No problem. Nice, professional and no worries. I will hire them again if I ever need something. I'm delighted.

I am beside myself with frustration and disappointment with this company. We paid nearly $600 for trapping and to have our soffits "reinforced" only to have animals in our attic again. On 1/11/18 I had noticed that a 2 foot section of soffit was moved, so I called asking that they return to remedy the situation *before* any animals move in. I was told that someone would come out in the next two days. It is now 1/26/18 and I have called SEVERAL more times and left messages with no response. As I type this I hear animals scurrying around above me. I have been patient, I have given them the benefit of the doubt, however that patience is now gone. I feel that at this time I have little choice but to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office as I now have to pay ANOTHER company to remove the animals and repair the "reinforced" soffits.

They knew their business and were able to catch 3 skunk in 2 weeks. Best pricing of all the trapping services that I called.

It went well. Lou showed up on time. Looked at the skunk, prepared an injection and injected the skunk with a hypodermic needle on a long rod. He removed the skunk with tongs and put him in his truck. We paid him on the spot by check.

Very well. It took a little longer than expected but the trap worked in the end and no more squirrels living in the attic!

It took about two weeks to capture both squirrels. When the opening was not disturbed and the traps remained empty for awhile, they sealed up the hole. It has been quiet ever since! Critter Detectives were professional and responsive to my call for help. I will definitely hire them again if the need arises.

It took a while and trap placement had to be varied, but they got the critters. Also, they arranged to have entry hole in eaves repaired and sealed.

The skunks went away, but not sure if it was because of the company. They had a trap out for longer than we expected given that there was no activity. We suspected that the act of setting up the trap disturbed the skunks so much that they left. And shortly after our city offered reduced-rate skunk removal, so in the end would have definitely gone that route if it was available when we started.

I called on a Saturday afternoon and left a message. They responded within a couple of hours and had someone come out and set a trap. I was charged 95.00 and told to call every morning before 9am to report if something was in the trap. The guy did see they two skunks under the deck at the time he placed the trap. Next morning, no skunks and the bait was gone. They came back out and tried a different bait. Next day, no skunk, still bait. Next day no skunks, no bait. I texted them and he told me his guy looked under there and the skunks were gone. Was I ever going to be told? In all, not a very professional company in my opinion. Guy came out in his car with his girlfriend to set a trap. Take the 95 dollars and be gone. They did come back and pick up their trap of course. I needed the skunks gone. I dont feel they did anything to help that. I got lucky they left on their own.

So far so good. There is a promise and guarantee of no mice for a long time.

Setup a Schedule for Saturday 9th July and was promised that somebody would be there between 8 A.M to 12: PM. Nobody showed up, when I called on Monday 11th July, the response was - don't know what happened, do you want to reschedule.

Squirrels had gotten into out attic. Without realizing they had gotten in, I closed up a hole in the soffit trapping them inside. We called Critter Detectives and one of the most obliging and cooperative people it had been my pleasure to work with arrived. After looking for them unsuccessfully, he told us that we would have to wait until the smell enable him to find them. He returned in a few days and found a dead squirrel in the air return duct. But we knew there was another he tried to find it but said he didn't have the equipment to search far enough down the vent and recommended we call an duct cleaning firm and didn't charge us for the visit.

Very good. Rep took care of it, explained what he did, answered our questions, and also did a quick external home inspection to see if there were any other obvious issues he could see (there were not). Overall very good and professional, will definitely use again if needed (but we hope it isn't needed!).

I had originally hired ABC Wildlife to get rid of squirrels in my attic. They claimed that the best way to do that was to put traps in the attic. They went on the roof to put cardboard on two possible entry points to identify for sure where the squirrels were getting in, but the only place they put traps was in the attic. After 10 days of re-baiting the traps to no effect, I told ABC to take their traps and leave since the only plan B was more of non-working plan A. I called Critter Detectives that same day. Lou answered all my questions, told me they would be putting traps on the roof, and explained what they would do if plan A proved unsuccessful. Critter Detectives put traps on the roof the next day. A squirrel was trapped two days later! Lou had told me something interesting – that it might take a few days to catch the first squirrel, but that if there were others, they’d probably be caught soon afterwards. I thought that was odd, but that’s exactly what happened!!! After the first squirrel was removed (on Christmas day!), there was another squirrel trapped on 12/26 and one more on 12/27! Thankfully there were no more squirrels after that because the weather turned bad and we had snow making access to the roof problematic. It took a while beyond the few days wait to make sure there were no more squirrels to get the opening sealed because of the weather, but that was taken care of too. Everyone from Critter Detectives was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and polite. I thought they were great and wish I had called them first!

Called the company in the morning, and they had the trap in place by later that evening. Within one or two days, there was a raccoon caught inside the trap. I called them to remove, and they promptly came and removed. They re-baited the trap every few days, as local squirrels managed to steal the bait without getting caught. Ultimately, the skunk was never caught, but if he was, I have no doubt these guys would have gotten rid of him promptly - a job most of us, including me, would never even attempt. (Only minor glitch - got an invoice for a re-baiting charge like a month after they removed trap - not a big deal, but would have appreciated a more prompt billing).

Provider came promptly to see the hole in my trim board where squirrels had moved into the attic. They explained their method and fees. I wanted capture and release. One week later, no more squirrels in my attic!

I called Critter Detectives because of a recurring smell of skunk in my house. I feared that they had dug under my back concrete porch. CD came and inspected for holes and determined that most likely they were living under my wooden deck adjacent to the concrete porch. They place a trap and subsequently hauled out 5 raccoons and no skunks. I was very pleased with the prompt response for the removal of the animals. You call a phone number and notify them that the trap is full or empty and they come and replace the trap, as necessary. You pay for the initial visit and each subsequent animal they take out. If the bait is gone from the trap, but it remains empty, you can call and they will come and rebait the trap for no fee. Very easy to deal with.

It went well; they couldn?t get the raccoons right away but they were able to get the mother and one baby (we knew there were three). They kept coming back and checking the traps over the course of two weeks and were able to determine that the babies must have left on their own. They were very responsive. They also patched up the hole so the raccoons couldn?t get back in. They also charged what they quoted so there were no surprises?it was around $300.00 He did a lot of work for the amount of money.

They came and set the trap. We sent them a text every morning letting them know that the trap had not been sprung until it was and the raccoon was captured. They came and took it away. Set another trap. Followed the same routine for another week. We would highly recommend their services.

They were friendly, we caught a skunk and a raccoon, so far. They come out every so often to rebate the traps. They have been pretty responsive, and keeping track.

They came out and they did a good job. They were a little pricey. We needed somebody and they were able to come out. They were good. They responded right away. They were more expensive but we were able to get somebody. We had a squirrel stuck on our chimney and we did not want to leave it there to die. They said they were going to release the squirrel out in the wild. My husband thought it was a bird and he was going to grab it and then he realized it was a squirrel so we were trying to get somebody out right away to get it out. We tried one or two places but they could not come out the next day. There were no hidden fees or anything. We knew it was going to be pricey but we had to do it. He was able to give us a name of someone who could come out to put the cap on.

Everything was great. They came. They dug up a cave and they set it up. They're very professional about everything and then as soon as we got in animal critter and then we had to call them and then they would come like the following day at some point.

I called them, left a message, got a call back within an hour, guy came out soon after and removed the live skunk from our window well.

I got them from Angie's List. They did a fantastic job. I have no problems with them. I would use them again if I needed to. They have a decent and fair price.
