"Starting with the estimate (which was comparable to the other estimates I got), Gibran spent more time discussing exactly what I wanted and needed: the old walk was narrow, did I want it widened; squared off or rounded out where it met the garage slab; raising the back walk slightly to eliminate the extra, shallow step at each end; and most usefully, how to work around the 100 year old catalpa, that had lifted and broken the old walk, between it and the house. We ended up adding a curve to the walk, just by the tree, giving it extra space without disturbing the existing tulip bed on the other side of the walk along the house. He and his crew worked quickly and neatly, and did a very nice job. The new walks meet the city sidewalk and garage slab evenly, the curves are smooth, the tree has room, the tulip bed and ivy along the house weren’t disturbed, and now it’s much less of a pain to shovel snow than it used to be! As a bonus, landscaping was not part of the contract, but Gibran found a source of black dirt for us, and when there was a delay (while waiting for the city inspector) after the forms were in place, he and his crew spread the dirt needed to regrade the yard for us, rather than just sit around. I’m very pleased with the work they did for us, enjoyed working with Gibran and his crew, and would definitely recommend 5 Star Concrete & Construction."

"Brandon and his team truly transformed our property, providing us with the outdoor space we've always dreamed of. After meeting with 10+ contractors in the Burr Ridge area, we chose BSC Landscaping and could not be happier with him and his team. "There were large gaps between the pavers at the end of my driveway. When Pat got here, he convinced me to do additional work in other areas of the driveway. On the next visit, Pat said I should cut back some trees and shrubs around my property. A mature birch tree and an evergreen shrub was cut down to a stump, while I wasn't home. This appears to be part of his MO - as he added many things to the "verbal contract" every chance he got, doubling the contract price without providing any paperwork or receiving any signed approvals. Then when it came to payment he REQUIRED CASH. I am a small Asian woman and when questioning the quality of work he got visibly frustrated and shouted at me in front of my 8 year old that "[he] should have known better than to deal with a...." at which point I asked him to leave my property. The "great job" he did leaves my driveway looking aesthetically worse than when he started, and my pavers are still shifting - wish I could upload a short video."
